FROYO ROM
2.2.1 EC05 "Phoenix" II [Journaled]
From the ashes of RandomROM Plus, Phoenix rises.
EC05 AIO Volume/Hotspot/Lockscreen
The first rom to combine ALL of these great mods!
Updated 11/29/2011
Updates, Important Notices, and General Information Posted Here!
I'd like to extend a special thank you to anyone who has donated!
I maintain RandomROM as a distribution across multiple forums. As such, the bulk of the information, details, etc. is maintained on my site. Rest assured, the links below will take you to aforementioned site where you will find all of the information you require regularly updated on how to use this rom. No subscription required. Always free (donations appreciated, never required). All of my roms, mods, themes, guides, etc. can be found on this easy to navigate site as well as my blog for upcoming updates. As always, I will still answer questions here.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, divorce, bankruptcy, acne, etc. Please do some research if you are a first time flasher BEFORE flashing this rom. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me if something goes wrong with your device, I will laugh. By downloading, you agree to have read all pertinent information provided and to accept any and all responsibility subsequently.
Home Of The AIO Mod For EC05.I have updated and merged necrosan's wifi tether mod and mkasick's volume rocker mod together, as they change the same framework.jar. This means that Sprint Hotspot will work freely without an additional Wifi Tether app, and that your volume rocker can now seamlessly transition from silent, to vibrate, to loud. Included in this conglomeration are also maddoggin's lockscreen mod. This will currently remain known as the AIO mod, and version 1 is the latest. It is included in the Phoenix Blue EC05 theme.
To any rom/theme developers: Feel free to utilize this mod but be sure to reference myself and all aforementioned developers involved. It took a lot of time and effort to make these great features play nicely and it's important to keep the original creators in the loop.
Why Should You Use RandomROM?
Alternate names considered: BatteryROM, BurningROMThis rom is a personal hobby of mine to maintain the greatest battery life that I can. I've scoured the forums searching for the newest and greatest tweaks, mods, etc. to include, and then carefully tested them all for battery performance. I've also made additional changes and additions all my own. As such, this rom has compiled the excellent work of many great developers into my own ideas and configurations. Contained within are many useful apps pre-installed as well as an effort to replicate my exact setup which has yielded me 1-2% battery loss per hour maximum when idle!
All included apps have been RandomKing-Approved to conform with the best battery usage. I'm always on the lookout for more tweaks, possible thematic changes, etc., however this version is the last major revision last based on EC05. There should be no issues, but should I happen to find one, I may simply release a patch or quietly switch out the upload version.
Many of you have complained that others achieve much better battery life. The goal of RandomRom is to provide MY setup that's provided me with great battery life. Further details possibly important details will be made available in post 2. Any other information can be found on my site along side the download links.

Quick Updates, Notices, Fixes, Etc!
You've got questions, here's some answers!
When should I use the AIO mod?
If you're on a rom that doesn't have it, or you flashed an EG22 theme that doesn't include it.
How do I update my SuperUser Binary?
Check out this link and Rodderick will save the day.
Or remove the update.
How do I use my own ringtone, alarm, and notification mp3s?
Create a folder on your SD card called "media".
Inside of that create "audio".
Inside of that create:
"ringtones" for ringtones.
"alarms" for alarms.
"notifications" for notifications.
Will try, thanks for your hard work and for keeping the Dev community alive here at Epic 4G XDA.

GPS tends to work pretty well for me. However, as a note on most roms I've tried, it usually works better after a reboot. At it's best, it locks on in seconds, at it's worst, up to a minute generally.
Looks good random appreciate the hard work.. seems like our hobbies are pretty aligned haha. My hobby is battery life
So this looks to be based on srf 1.2? Is that correct?
As a srf user what are the main differences? I see it uses geno and journaling is enabled, any other big changes?

It was originally based on my love for SFR 1.1. From there I set about incorporating in everything I could find or think of from no2chems bionic mod to theimpaler's speed demon keyboard tweak, to the tw date fix. Then I went back and rebuilt the rom to clean things up a bit. I've baked in my shortcut terminal commands to freeze drm, sns, and updates in order to preserve more battery(couldn't make them autorun). Patched together my own version of a theme, made some other rewrites, switched out some apps, aimed towards more black pixel usage and transparent apps(thanks impaler!). Re-downgraded the bionic update from 1.1 to 1.0 to solve issues people were having with wifi connections, added back in media uploading, etc. etc. It's gone through various revisions as I continue to use it myself, throw out certain parts, change others, find new mods that can help preserve yet more battery, etc. Baked in journaling, but also included a non-journaled version. Also, journal on/off cwm flash-ables will be copied to your sd card, should you change your mind later, along with the cwm 3.1.0.1 update. Tried to keep it as functional and slick as ever. And included Rodderick's Genocide 1.0 as that's still my favorite kernel .
I did make it a point to re-use the same data backup code employed by SFR, as I like to switch back and forth between roms. I, myself, am a connoisseur of roms and a flash-aholic. That said, I haven't tried sfr 1.2 personally, so I can't say how this compares.
Thanks for the ROM update. Any plans on Gingerbread ROM?

This 2.2 version is final. I know, silly idea since I just brought it to an xda thread and only a few people followed me here through all revisions and a few more at androidcentral...
But yes, my new hobby is Gingerbread.
My buddy flashed his Epic to this and wiped everything multiple times but it won't leave airplane mode. Thoughts?
Why include ATK? Why not recommend it to people?
Most don't need a task killer and such task killers can hurt more than help... from my experience anyways..
On other note, This looks very well thought out and I will def give it a try!

Did he come from a fresh install? You may need to reflash the modem through ODIN.

Task killers are effective if certain system processes are NOT closed, ie things that will interrupt your service and shouldnt be closed, and if auto-kill is not enabled. I have pre-configured it for both of these concepts. It will only close what can safely be closed, when you tell it to.
Of course, you can just ignore/uninstall it too.
But remember, NEVER USE AUTOKILL.
One more thing... open ATK. Take a look at what it's ready to kill. Kill everything(including ATK itself). Wait 1-2 minutes. Open ATK again, and notice if anything that you just killed is open again. These are un-kill-able, and you're wasting battery trying, so simply add them to the ignore list. Best way to optimize a task killer. You also may want to set it to ignore your music, etc.

(ICONS AVAILABLE AT VILLAINROM.co.uk - THANKS MANUP456)
DISCLAIMERS:
1. An SD-EXT partition is required in this ROM (for additional apps), but the ROM itself will NOT install to it. Yey!
2. A ROM shouldn’t brick your phone, unless the “developer” has been foolish enough to include an incorrect radio as part of the installation. That being said, if you somehow manage to brick your phone, Team Villain are in no way responsible. We will, however, give you a tenner for it in the unlikely event of a Desire resembling a housebrick.
3. THERE IS NO CAMERA IN THIS ROM. DO NOT ASK ABOUT THE CAMERA. I actually got this rom semi (more like 1/8) working on the old kernel. I even got it to take a picture, but then it FCd. Then, to my surprise, so did every other application on the phone. I simply don’t have the time just yet to spend on this. Maybe in a week or so I’ll get around to it.
4. If you ask a question that has been answered in this opening post, I tend to get frustrated. It shows an utter lack of respect of the developer, who has spent hours of his personal time creating this ROM for you, then another hour writing up an epic set of release notes, only for a ‘one-post-wonder’ to come along and say ‘WTFOMG – NO CAMERALULZ IN THIZ ROM!!!!!!! WHY???!!!12!.?’. ... so yeah, please don’t do that. Read thoroughly.
5. This is a BETA version. As previously stated, the camera doesn’t work. It will, in time, but it doesn’t right now. There may be a few bugs, so I’d appreciate some solid, usable feedback.
6. VillainROM are awesome. If you don’t believe me, join our IRC channel. The details of which can be found on VillainROM.co.uk, in the General Chat section of the forum. Alternatively, you can use the client built into our website.

So, here it is; 0.2.0. Not exactly a monumentally groundbreaking update, but an update, nonetheless. Reports were flocking in that the Browser wasn’t working on some webpages... so my first mission was to logcat that. It turned out, that in my haste, I seemingly deleted a semi-essential lib file relating to flash-lite. This was preventing sites with even the slightest element of flash to keel over and die quietly like the hare I smashed into with my car last night. Stupid thing. I mean, seriously... what was it thinking? It saw a predator (I came to the conclusion that cars are essentially a form of predator, as far as 50cm tall land mammals are concerned) coming right towards it at 60MPH, and ran TOWARDS it. Not away; not to the side; TOWARDS it. I felt quite terrible for a minute, then I thought to myself; ‘No, I’m not feeling bad. This is the real world after all. Survival of the fittest and all that. Well, it turns out that cars are significantly fitter than over-sized rabbits. Poor thing.
Still... guilt got the better of me. I continued my drive home, feeling a little bit sick as a result of the mental image of a still twitching, roadkilled big-bunny corpse imprinted to the front of my mind.
Where was I? That’s right – the browser. Yeah, so it was a simple fix. A missing lib file. Big deal, I hear you say. Well, luckily, that’s not the best news of the day. The best news of the day by a country mile, is that the outstanding Android ROM developer, Richard Trip has joined the VillainROM team. YES, THAT’S RIGHT – the ORIGINAL and arguably greatest AOSP ROM developer has joined our ever increasing ROMOPOLY (for the non-native English speakers out there, that’s a pun on Monopoly, not roly-poly). Anyway, the point is, we’re using his (and probably will continue to use his) fantastic, OC kernel in this ROM. Welcome to the team, Richard.
God man... get on with it.
So yeah. Browser fixed, flash problem fixed, Full flash added (needs updating from market).... uhmmmm..... I added the original HTC album, and the Gallery 3D will be uploaded as a flashable zip.
THINGS TO COME:
- Flashable .zip which removes HTC lockscreen
- Flashable .zip which adds circle battery mod

Old post info: NOW REDUNDANT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to Supervillain HD 0.1.1 (BETA)
Before we begin: The whole ROM installs to NAND. We don’t need half the system on your SD EXT partition. Woop!
This ROM is based on the latest Desire HD ROM (SENSE 2.0), but with Rosie, and a lot of other crap removed. The ROM is offered in two versions; Launcher Pro and ADW.J
It’s the best of both worlds. All the Sense applications (messaging, dialler, mail, etc – all are far superior to the alternatives), without the slowdown of Rosie and it’s 130mb of additional crap. I’m blowing my own trumpet here, but to me personally, this rom is the ****.
The only let down, of course, is the (lack of) camera, but I’ll get around to that in time.
At last. It’s ready for the public domain.
I can tell you in all honesty that this ROM has been an utter bastard to complete; and by that, I don’t mean that it was born illegitimately out of lawful matrimony. I couldn’t count the hours it’s taken to get to this stage on both hands... I **** you not. First, there was the size. How, I asked myself, do you get a 276mb zip file down to a target size of <150mb, for it to fit on the Nand drive? After all, we don’t want to have to install half the system directory to the SD External partition...
Well, I’ll tell you how.
First, I had to look up and test the necessity of more files than cigarettes I smoke, within the system folder. Libs, apks, images, images within apks... you get it. Many of these have been removed, as is the nature of the SuperVillain series. Those that were lucky enough to remain, have been APK optimised, PNG optimised. Sadly, this didn’t hugely reduce the size. It seems that HTC have, on this occasion, been on the ball and already optimized their apps.
Due to HTC’s strange and bewildering requirement that certain files are seemingly married to others, meant that after I finished deleting, stripping, etc, I was welcomed into the world of boot loops. Boot loop, after bloody boot loop. That’s if I was lucky.
On many occasions, it wouldn’t even load the boot animation, or show up in adb, for that matter. So, I turned to my good old friend, Kmsg. I won’t go into what that is, because if you don’t know right now, you probably have no interest in knowing. Sufficed to say, after several days of stripping files, testing, kmsging, altering files, stripping again, kmsing again, etc etc, it finally did as required, and booted. Yey, it EFFING booted! But that wasn’t to be the end of my woes.
The new HTC IME keyboard seemed to be in love with Laputa. What the hell is this Laputa anyway? Who uses that? I mean... honestly? 25mb’s worth of Laputa related files were bogging up the system, but the HTC keyboard demanded that this mysterious, yet obese thing that is called Laputa remained in place. That annoyed me to such an extent, that I tried other keyboards. IME Mod and stock Vanilla. Guess what... Sense 2.0 didn’t like those, either. Luckily, after a re-base, Laputa fell out with HTC IME, and moved on to pastures new. Laputa, the *****, left IME for another keyboard. Good news for me though... BYE BYE LAPUTA, WELCOME BACK NEW HTC IME KEYBOARD! Not that I use it myself; I’m a big fan of Swiftkey, personally.
I was so overjoyed, I could have cried like Louis Walsh at Gamu Nhengi’s beautiful rendition of ‘To make you feel my love’. It’s a farce that she went out of the competition by the way... but that’s another story entirely.
So. The ROM booted, and the keyboard worked without the love of its clingy ex, Laputa. All good.
Things were finally looking up!
Then came the images. Such a simple part of the process generally. Open up the framework-res.apk, locate the Default Wallpaper, and simply copy over it with the new, SuperVillainHD wallpaper. Oh no... not in Sense2.0. We’ll have a total of 4 folders, buried all over the place, each with their very own Default_wallpaper.jpg. Whatever, HTC... I love you, but at the same time, I really, really hate you.
I won’t go into what happened next, as another 6 hours of ‘trial and error’ in an attempt to speed up the ROM further, finally succeeded. What you see before you is the FINAL BETA version, and a base in which I can build upon and improve.

I'll have to give this a try when I get the time for it. Thanks for your hard work, it's truly appreciated

Thank you to all who tested. Now start getting your phones ready for the final build.
Themers:
Check Post #2 for a package of app & framework files. A good majority of the apps are from FRF91 Vanilla Android build so if you have packages that already work with that build then most should work here. Please make sure all packages are compatible. Please use the framework-res.apk provided since it is unique to this ROM. It is much different than the OEM Drodi2 packages.
ROM Developers:
Feel free to use this as a base for your own ROM. Please just respect us and give Matt, Drod and myself the proper credit and a link back to the threads.
History:
Being bored one day and sick of Blur with all the extra services I started to rip the ROM apart. Finally getting it as clean as I can and being forced to have a bit of blur I began a search on how to get rid of it all. I ended up on the MotoDev website to see what I can find when I bumped into the D2 SDK. Shockingly it was a plain vanilla build of Android. I thought why not and tried to boot it up. Ii did ( see first video here[/URL] ) with lots of bugs. The screen res as all off and we had no radio or many other hardware functions. On top of that it ran like a turtle stuck in some molasses. I sent a message of my my buddy Matt4542 and our journey began. From there Drod and I hooked up and now we have this. It has been a long rough week getting this sucker to where it is now. It was fun, frustrating and we nearly killed each other a few times but all ended well since we have a great finished project.
We kind of built AOSP ROM by hand. Some may say it is not a true AOSP ROM but it is. There is no difference between this build and a true AOSP ROM besides any tweaks that the developer may add when creating a ROM from source. We had no choice to do it this way since Moto locked us out of the bootloader (for now and next project). Many of the apps are built from source. About 90% of the app folder is built from source. We added some packages from the D2 that are a bit better and required for hardware reasons. There is NO Blur left in the ROM but for a moto-res.apk file that is required by the framework.
What will this ROM do?
It will give you a true Android Vanilla experience much in the same way the Original Droid (OD) did. It is not loaded with bloatware and everything functions as it should. Facebook will sync with your contacts and you will not have all of your memory being used by wasteful stuff on top of much more. Your phone will run more smoothly and feel a lot faster.
What can you do to help?
The most important thing is to provide feedback. When reporting bugs please be clear and with detailed explanation. Do not say this does not work and leave it that. The more feedback you provide will make it easier and quicker for us to kill any bugs. You may also give us a small donation to help with our continuing development of ROM and *POSSIBLY* get this bootlader cracked. It cannot be done with one device. I have a couple of friends who have experience with low level programming of chips and with their help maybe it can get done. They are Blackberry guys and not going to buy a device just for this. This is nothing more than a promise that it will be tried. I cannot say when and IF it can be done so please keep the questions to a minimum about it. If the project takes off then I will have updates. You can donate to the project by clicking HERE.
Install Instructions: - YOU MUST FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS!!!

I'll be the first to ask - do we need to do all of the wipes if we are upgrading from RC1?
is this the final build?? cause its version 1.0 and are you guys going to provide ota updates?? other than that rom looks AWESOME
Appreciate the hard work guys!
Works great! So much better than the stock D2 ROM.
Cell standby is still an issue
So far so good.
Only two minor things. There is no easy to get to end-call button, which you already know about, and it seems like there is not speech to text support. Not that I really use speech to text, but it could come in handy.
Edit: Nevermind. Might just need to enable it in settings.
Contact Ringtones still don't work
Otherwise, it's gRRRRRRRRReat!
Seems like some bad blood brewing over this ROM on the droidforums page for it. AngDroid/MotoBoy, we all greatly appreciate your work (you too Matt4542! (and anyone else who doesn't get as much time in the lime light!)). As long as you are satisfied with the outcome of the ROM we all appreciate you sharing it with us. Just ignore the lamers that expect you to jump at their every beck and call. It's the first AOSP type ROM for the Droid 2, very first of it's kind for a very locked down phone, which in and of itself is a great accomplishment. If you ever fix anything in Fission, great, if not, I'll continue to look forward to what you develop in the future.
I'm still also curious about your twitter post from the other day, talking about your new Fusion ROM series. Interested to see how that one differs from both stock and Fission.
I am getting the USB problem like I was getting in Beta II. It would connect fine when I first loaded the rom up, and then half the day would pass by and then I can't connect the phone to the computer. Kind of weird. Pretty sure that I can charge from the wall. Just not sure why the USB isn't working.

I wonder if it's something underlying with your phone that's causing that issue. You'd think if it were a common bug you'd see other users complaining about it (as this thread on droid forums is about 8 pages long at this point). Given that it's you, who wrote the tutorials for some of the early D2 stuff, I have no doubt you followed all the steps for installing the ROM. Did you happen to SBF and start stock before going to Fission? I wonder if it could have resulted from flashing over another ROM. Very strange issue though, when I get a good chance to roll my phone up to Fission 1.0 I'll see if I experience the same thing (Thursday is probably a good day to flash, too many phone calls I can't miss between then and now).

How is it an issue? If your phone is on for 10 hours and you use cell for 1 hour of course it is going to eat the greatest percentage of battery use. The issue is the time is off now and then.

We tested this on IRC and it is working for everyone who tested.
if ud like a phone apk like this hit me up with a pm and ill send it to u
Does this ROM contain the ability to link contacts?
The reason I ask is because there are a few facebook contacts of mine that do not list their numbers on their profile but I have their numbers in my phone book. And when I installed Fission RC1, Facebook will list them as a contact but will not show them with the profile and with phone numbers I have in my phone. I recall being able to have that ability to link contacts in the stock D2 rom. Is this feature part of the Blur crap?
It really wouldn't even be an issue if the Facebook contacts were not read-only. I'd just add the numbers to their contact information on the phone then... But I can't. Go Facebook.
Go to the contact u want. Hit menu>edit then hit menu>join then u can pick the facebook contact u want to link it to

This is the ODEX'd version. If you're looking for the themable Deodex version, check here
THE TITLE HAS ONLY BEEN CHANGED TO CLARIFY THIS IS STILL ANDROID 2.1. The download version is still the same as before. I felt this would make more sense.
Battery Mod Is Here!
mozman has verified that the Super Circle Battery Mod with % does indeed work. Well, for those of you who know me, I've decided to finally give Android ROM building a shot. It's a learning process, but I'm picking up on it pretty quickly, and I must say it's a ton of fun so far . I owe my inspiration to the likes of theimpaler747. ASimmons, zenulator, and of course, NFinitefx45. These guys all work hard to bring you great stuff, without their advice, I'd be nothing.
I need beta testers! I've been using this ROM for some time now but I need YOU to tell me if there's anything wrong with it . Please go easy on me, I'm still learning the ropes of this stuff. Any and all feedback is appreciated! If any of you veteran ROM devs come across this, feel free to drop me some advice
Who is this ROM for?
This is for a pretty broad range of people; those who are interested in stock Sense minus the bloat. I've removed a fair amount of bloat, including all the Sprint apps and a few HTC apps/Widgets that I feel are of little value. The ROM is also fully png-optimized, as well as zipaligned. That, paired with the fact it's an ODEXed ROM (might add deodex in the future) as well as Zen's AnyKernel, makes for a quite zippy ROM that only gets faster as you use it.
What is this ROM's base?
This ROM is based off of Nfinitefx45's fantastic rooted .7 ODEX release (link). While we're on that topic, I'd like to say that all the credit for rooting/getting the base of this ROM out the door is ENTIRELY credited to Nfinite. I take no credit for the rooting process, the addition of busybox, the addition of A2SD, and anything that you see in his .7 thread. Nfinite is a genius, and he has inspired me to create this offshoot of his ROM.
So what do I gain by trying this?
Simply put? Speeeed. Lots of it. Check out the tech specs for the full skinny on why.

I suggest you use Android Commander to push these back in.
Removed System APKs - This contains all the removed Widgets and APKs from System/App. This does not include GMaps/QuickOffice. To use, unzip it, delete what what you don't want, and either adb push it into system/app or use Android Commander to do so. NOTE: If you're looking specifically for Sprint VVM, it's the apk called "sprint_core.apk". It's the only APK that isn't obviously named, sorry about that!
Removed Data APKs - This currently includes Google Maps and Quickoffice. Both of these can be DLed from the market, and it's probably easier to do it that way, not to mention the ones on the market will always be up to date. However, if you'd prefer to save a bit of time, they are here for you. They do not need to be pushed, simply drop em on your SD card, and enable Unknown Sources temporarily and install using a file manager. HINT: If you don't want to grab a file manager or want to save some time, just copy the download URL, paste it in an email message to yourself, and open it from your phone. The phone's browser will handle the downloading of the APK, and you can just tap the apk from the list of downloads to initiate the install .
Removed Ringtones - These are all the ringtones that were removed. The reason they are not in the ROM is because they are better off on your SD card, freeing up a whole 2 MB on your system memory. What I suggest you do (to avoid having to adb push all of these) is to simply make a folder on your SD card with the following path :media\audio\ringtones\ . Put all the ringtones in there, and that way, no matter what ROM you use in the future, you'll always have the ringtones in there . If you'd prefer not to do this, you can adb push or use Android Commander to push them to system\media\audio\ringtones\. NOTE: Your your android.phone process might FC if you have no ringtones present. Either create the path above on your SD card and put something on it, or push the ringtones. A minor service release might have me putting a very tiny "Silent" ringtone in the folder to prevent any FCs from happening. Again, if you store ringtones on your SD card, this won't affect you at all.

Liquid's Tips!
~ On first startup, sign into your Google account but don't do Facebook sync. Wait till you boot into the ROM, and connect to a wifi hotspot (if you have one). Once the sync icon goes away, and your google account has finished syncing, then get started with Facebook sync. Remember, Facebook sync, at least for the Contacts syncing, happens in tiers. It'll do, for instance, A-E first, wait a bit, and then it will do F-P, etc etc. Have some patience .
~ Battery! As much as always on sync is useful, there are a couple things you can do to lengthen your battery life. For instance, for Google, I always leave Gmail sync on. But ask yourself, how often are you adding/removing Contacts from your Google account? I don't do that too often, so uncheck contacts. Also, unless I have major changes to be made to my Google Calender, I also leave GCal syncing off as well. Once it finishes its first-time sync, all your events are there anyway. Next up, Facebook! The big deal for me for Facebook is that I run it once and my Contact images sync together. I'm not a big user of the Live feed. So for me, once my contacts' images finish syncing, I leave both unchecked. These two tweaks will save you some juice, because it'll drop the number of things/times your phone checks for at the specified interval.
~ GPS! I've found that using the same fix for faulty GPS locks in CM6 in this ROM actually improves the GPS lock time like mad. Grab "GPS Status" from the Marketplace and reset/redownload the A-GPS cache. After I did this, I had a super accurate lock in under 4 seconds using Google Maps
~ Task Killers! In my experience, I've found that task killers tend to do more harm than good. My suggestion is to simply place a shortcut to "Running Services" on your homescreen, and check it periodically. For instance, GTalk Service likes to come up every so often, and when it does, I just end it. For the most part, I've done well without a task killer. Android was designed to manage its memory pretty well! Again, I know this is a debated idea, so take with a grain of salt NOTE: Do not end GTalkService while using the Market. GTalkService is also the service that pushes your Google Account credentials to apps that require it, your Market being one of them.
~ Random bits:
I've found that pressing Menu while in the Sense App Drawer and switching to List View makes the scrolling a bit faster and smoother
Not using all 7 homescreens? Make sure there's no widgets on the ones you're not using. I've found marginally better performance and battery life from doing so.

So far, so good. Did a nandroid, wiped, flashed, and it booted right up. No problems.
Edit: Noticing the speed. So far very fast and snappy.
GPS works great. Just a few seconds to find my position in my house near a window.
I've been using AOSPmod for a few weeks now, but I'll try this. Might go back to sense. Will report back with results
EDIT: uhh... Having a really weird problem. the keyboard is pressing Q no matter what button I push
I might even try this one, though I'd prefer deodex.
@OP: Been looking for something like this. A lean, mean rom.
Someone else already suggested a zip with the apks that were removed incase people want to add one or two back. Personally I like SprintVVM on stock roms, for example.
Next, have you seen this slightly dated thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581976 it talks about what people have found to be safe to remove from the stock HTC rom. It's a bit dated, but most of what is written still works. Something to toy with.
Of course we could just take your rom and delete the extras ourselves -- the beauty of the game
Not bad so far. Will run awhile and see if gets laggy after awhile like all sense roms seem to do.

Good job...ROM I've been looking for as an alternative to CM6.
Since this is based on nfinites .7 stock will the kernels he posted work with this? Not a big fan of SetCPU or OC Widget and my phone is happy at 710. Actually it's happiest at 729 but I don't know how to modify the kernel to default to that
Installed and running smooth so far
Running smooth so far. Going to run it for a couple of days to see how it is on battery. I think this is the perfect ROM for me. I do not use any of the stuff you took out.

Have a Question tho? Did you leave google maps and Navigation out(didn't see it in the list in your OP)? It's ok just had to d/l from market is all I use it a little. So Far so good
NOTE: I will support this here as well, and am posting here so others can see the ROM as well. However, I will keep the post and information more up-to-date on Rootzwiki. I don't have time to browse through a bunch of different forums for support questions and other requests, so please keep that in mind when posting here.
With that being said, here is what you've been waiting for. This is the continuation of the last InfinityROM that was created based on the EP1W leak. A lot has changed since then, way to much to go through and update in the posts of the previous topic, so we are starting out fresh. This ROM is based on the official OTA that just recently got sent out to DROID Charge users everywhere. From there, it went through a major weight loss session, and got a full make over to get the wonderful orange and brown stock color scheme out. Much of the theming work was originally done by Retrokid223, and has been brought into this new ROM by myself. We went for a TouchWiz 4 look from the SGS2, mainly because it is currently the look that I like.
To go through a brief history of what this ROM has gone through to get to its current release state, here is a slight Cliff Notes run-down. I took the update and went from EE4 to EP4D. I then dumped the stock ROM from my phone and deodexed it. From there, I went to work taking out a bunch of stuff that people don't want, and things that are easily installed from the market. After that, I replaced a small handful of TouchWiz apps with their AOSP equivalents, and rethemed everything, updating icons and images as needed from newer SGS2 and also SGS ROMs that have been released into the wild since EP1W came out. A few tasteful mods have also been added, and from here, TSM Parts will follow shortly.
This ROM is mainly so people can continue to use InfinityROM and the latest update without having the ugly stock color scheme. I will try to keep a TSM Parts free version updated as changes are made, but not everything will remain free of TSM parts changes forever. This initial release does not have anything major TSM additions in it yet, but those are on their way for the people that want them (myself included). Many apps have remained stock, though they have been rethemed to ditch the stock color scheme. The reason for this is to keep the added functionality of the TouchWiz versions, cause the AOSP versions of many of the apps are lacking in the usability department. Stuff that has been replaced has been from a stock, deodexed dump of 2.3.7 from the Nexus S.
To go with the great ROM, is a great repacked kernel. Since you can only do so much to a stock kernel when repacking it, I kept the EP4P kernel from the last test version of the ROM with the current update. This will be replaced in the coming weeks once I can get a source built kernel going. There are only minor changes to the kernel that is included, so it's nothing really special, but it gets the job done.
Screenshots will be added at a later date, along with what are likely to be several additions that users can put into the ROM (stock keyboards and other items). For now, this is what you get, and stay tuned for future updates, as there is more to come.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get root access?
Download and install Superuser from the market. The su binary that is required should already be there via the kernel, all that is required is its complimentary application.
How do I install the ROM?
See the first post of this thread.
How do I go from XXX to this ROM?
The fastest way to go to this ROM from anything is by downloading and flashing the ROM+Kernel on EXT4 package. That will format your partitions to EXT4 and then install the kernel and ROM. Note that this will wipe all of your user data in the process, so be sure to backup anything you may want prior to flashing.
Where is Gmail, YouTube, Maps, etc.
All Google applications were removed from the ROM. This was to make sure that you are running an up-to-date version on your device and it also saves some bandwidth when the ROM is downloaded.
Does this kernel support Voodoo?
The kernel does not use the Voodoo Lagfix functions. However, it does fully support EXT4 partitions. Voodoo Lagfix is meant so partitions can be converted to and from RFS/EXT4. To do this, the boot process is slowed down for partition checks and conversion. To avoid this, I just enabled EXT4 support so you can still reap the benefits of the improved read/write capabilities without having to wait for the phone to boot up.
Voodoo sound is another matter entirely and can be enabled (in part) by using Voodoo Control Plus. This will allow you to load a beta Voodoo Sound driver that supports many of the functions of Voodoo Sound. Until source code is release for Gingerbread though, full Voodoo Sound support will be unavailable.
Does this kernel support overclocking?
No it does not. Source code will need to be released before many features, such as overclocking can be included.
Do you have plans to include XXX in your ROM?
The current plans for this ROM are to bring in TSM parts, and any updates to that it receives as well. There may be some other updates outside of TSM Parts, but currently, there are no other major plans. If you would like to see something included, please link to what you would like and it will be taken into consideration.
I am having xxx issue, can you fix it?
We can certainly try, however, we will need some information from you first. In order to fix a problem, we need as much information as possible from you about it. Please provide details of the issue, such as the application name you are having problems with. If you can reproduce the issue consistently, provide the details on how to do so, that way we can attempt to recreate it ourselves. If it is a graphical glitch, try to get a screenshot of the problem, or a regular camera picture. The most valuable information you can provide is logcat output, see below on capturing a good log for us.
How can I get a good log of a problem I am having?
There are two methods you can use to get a log for us. The easiest method is to use aLogcat from the market. An alternative method is to use adb on your computer. If you do not know how to save the adb output from logcat to a text file, I recommend using aLogcat. Once you are ready to capture a log, start logcat from adb, or aLogcat. With the log still running in the background, recreate your issue several times (3 to 4 times should be sufficient). Once you have recreated the issue multiple times, stop the logging and save the log file. With aLogcat, it will be saved to your SDCard. Then, take your log output and send it to us, preferably via PM. The reason we request via PM is that sometimes, logcat can capture personal information, such as your email address or phone number. Rest assured that we have no interest in this and will use the output strictly as a debugging tool to help fix whatever issue you are reporting. We hate spam just as much as you do. I have also attempted to remove as much of the debugging output of personal information as possible, but I can't catch everything. In any event, I still recommend learning to use logcat from the Android SDK, as it is an invaluable tool.
Also, if you are reporting a graphical bug (something that needs themed), please get a screenshot of what you see that needs changed. Note that we cannot change everything. If it is from an application that is not included with the ROM, it may be much harder to fix the problem as sometimes apps do not pull their color information from the ROM and hard code their own colors. This is most noticeable in the quick panel notifications. However, it is still possible that something was missed, so feel free to submit reports of anything that you feel has yet to be themed.
Help, I restarted into recovery and lost all of my data!
This is an issue that affects people randomly. My opinion is that you can deal with it for the time being. I recommend using a good backup solution that doesn't involve recovery. I say this because I test ROMs and have had my data wiped hundreds of times due to testing over the past several weeks. If I can deal with resetting everything all the time as the developer, you, as the user, should also be able to make due until a permanent solution can be found.
How can I thank you for your work?

How can I get XXX app to vibrate on new notifications?
It seems that some applications are ignoring the global vibrate notification setting. To fix this, go into the application and press the menu button and go to settings (or however you get to the application settings). Find the notification settings, and turn on vibrate. It seems that messaging is the biggest complain among people, and this should solve the problem.
I created a theme for your ROM but have no where to host it
If you send me a link to your theme, I will host it for you on my site (imnuts.org). Note that I may not get to your message for hosting immediately, and also I won't host any theme that isn't tasteful and clean. If I find out that you are porting a theme without permission, your file(s) will be removed immediately and any further actions appropriate will be taken.
Can XXX be added to the FAQ?
While we strive to keep up with posts, sometimes we may overlook a repeated question or issue. If you see something you would like posted in the FAQ, feel free to ask. We only ask that you put your request in the following format:

Thanks....cant wait to see how it looks!!!
awesome job bud
it can be a pain to maintain rom threads across multiple forums, but there are those that only frequent one forum so its helpful to them
You are the man! Can't wait for tw4.
just wondering...how long should it take for first boot?
been hangin out at this SGII logo for about 5 minutes
EDIT: battery pull, reboot to recovery, wiped dc, boots fine now
I usually hang out here and on RootzWiki so if I ever see any questions about this ROM, I'll try to answer them as best as I can for you (imnuts).

That happens occasionally on any rom after a dalvik wipe. Not sure why, but it seems like something just gets hung up sometimes.
LOVE IT!!!!!!
Thanks for the new rom. Works great and I love the color scheme. I just wish I could find some GS2 widgets that would work with this rom and I'd be set for life

Look at the GT-I9100 (SGS2) and it's stock look/theme and that is basically what this will look like. You could also get an idea of the look from the T-Mo/Sprint SGS2 variants, as well as several original SGS variant Gingerbread updates. I'll post some screenshots then when I get a chance to take them.
Awesome ROM!! Running smooth as butter. Only downside is i've already had the random data wipe after booting into recovery to flash the Minimal Theme. But I definitely like where this is going.
Sweet thanks, gave me another reason to stay up late and not talk to the wife.
Very nice
Very nice rom....clean slick to the point no bloat. I like being able to decide what is on my phone or not. Great Job, I may have a reason to keep this thing now...lol
Awesome and thanks! The Rom is working fabulously for me so far. Hoping that themers will take you up on your offer and begin themeing soon. Always love blue based themes myself.
Thanks again for the Rom!
Oh, by the way, do you plan on always packaging your kernel with the Rom or will you ever separate it as a stand alone download?

SimplyWind0ws Jolly Rancher v0.2a
Hey guys Micheal Smith here and i proudly present you my newest creation,
SimplyWindows Jolly Rancher v0.2a!
[*]Introduction
This rom uses a special launcher called Jolly Rancher Launcher that was created by me from previous launcher's source.
The launcher was titled LauncherLi, Which was a launcher uploaded to Google Play with a low number of views and downloads.
The launcher is based off of Microsoft's Zune Player with the stunning 4.04 Ice Cream Sandwich OS Ported to the Epic 4g
by the one and only Cyanogenmod Team. Some people call it a build i call it NEW.! Something different. While people are
dying to get there hands on MIUI,CM9,Darky ROM, Peoples ROM and other magnificent creations, I wanted to create something
different also. I wanted android to have a new feel instead of the normal 5-7 homescreens. I knew that everyone has different
taste but i also took into consideration of the user's in the android community who love Microsoft Products such as WP7 and
Zune Player. I took it upon myself to create a rom for those Microsft/Android Combination Lovers. With an awesome performance
experience. Think of it as Zune UI running on a CM9 ICS Based Rom. Even the name of it sounds awesome right.? Well it has been
done and the hard working nights officialy paid off. So please android community i ask that you support me and my SimplyWind0ws
Series Project, Because it only gets better and better from here. The better my scripting skills improve, The better the outcome,
Dont you agree.? Well lets get down to business..
[*]Resources Used To Make This Happen
I will generate a list of resources used to make this rom stable and to give me a stunning vision.
*CM9 Beta 2 ROM(Thanks Cyanogenmod Team)
*LauncherLi as source NOT APP(Thanks Lilse_238_N_D)
*Halo Boot Animation(Thanks Auntie Dot)
*ZPlayer(Thanks Odesanmi) Note:ZPlayer Name is changed to Media Center
*A BIG IMAGINATION
[*]Eplanations To Make It Clear To Users
I will let you know exactly what i did here. I am fully aware that according to XDA rules adding paid apps into a rom isnt allowed.
LauncherLi isnt a paid app unless you purchase the Unlocker. I Didnt even build off of the APP Physically. I am great at Xml Creation
and i analyzed the layout of the launcher and figured it out just like that. Sounds Impossible.? It really isnt, When you get used to doing
things they become a breeze. But there were alot of issues. I didnt get some of the exact layouts correct so i used xml files and images from
LauncherLi and covered some of the things i missed. I wrote my own UI Strings for the launcher, But it does have some of launcherLi's UI Strings,
Only Because i didnt wanna takeover the launcher as completely mine and repost it. I left some of LauncherLi UI scripts and Smali files to
give the dev his credit. The dev is actually a Chinese man and cannot speak very good english. So his version of the launcher was a lil confusing
because of his mixed grammar. Why not just use the launcher completely and give dev full credit.? Because this improves my scripting skills and
my ability to create not just launchers but roms also. It helps me gain uninformed knowledge for any future releases i may distribute to the
community.
[*]Overview of the launcher
This launcher can be quite confusing to use on first attempts but once you are used to it, It feels just like home.
It uses basic UI Format for that easy use. There are launcher options to change HUB Display names and widget colors,
Font Colors and more. You can even change themes. Well Its not recommended because from what i understand when changing
themes it uses the original dev's generated servers. To be honest i dont even think there are any themes available for
this rom yet. But i assure you once support and development improves we will implement our own Theme server.
NOTE: The roms does give you a few tips on first use to get you started. I didnt add any of the extra WP7 based apps
because of compatibility issues when replace stock apps that are used with celluar service. They will be added in newer
roms though.

[*]Installation Instructions
Flash this how you would flash any ROM(CM ROMS Preffered)
*Wipe Data
*Wipe Cache
*Wipe Dalvik Cache.
AND FLASH ZIP FROM SD CARD!
When first booted up READ ONSCREEN EXPLANATIONS THOROUGHLY.! The HUBs arent prepared upon first boot, You
have to go to Applications menu, Press and hold an app that matches hubs on homescreen, And press pin to(Choose
the hub that matches the app you chose) and then it will be accessible from the homescreen. You can also turn an
app into a button that can be used in make items menu.
This rom was created by ME, With no ones help except for the useful resources, Not even my fellow Team Members.
They are assigned to dev on the next releases of the SimplyWind0ws Series.
[*]Simple Bugs Nothing Major
When editing any homescreen settings or launcher settings press back instead of home. Home button does nothing in some
cases.
Whenever you return to the homescreen menu, A notification appears in a toast message and in the status bar. The toast
message states updates are only launched by the dev(ME) and the status bar message says Jolly Rancher Successfully Load!
With the SimplyWind0ws Guy's Head as a icon. This happens everytime you return to the homescreen unless you DO NOT CLEAR
THE NOTIFICATION. Then it wont popup. This also may occur when rotating homescreen. Yes this launcher does support
auto screen rotations.
Thats pretty much it. Like i said this is my first OFFICIAL Project and this is the start of my SimplyWind0ws Series so may
i ask that the XDA and Android community support me the whole way.

Man that OP is difficult to read, lol.
Screenshots? This sounds pretty cool, I'll give it a shot if someone can help me reconfigure APN back to Sprint.

I am trying to post screenshots now. Posting IMG tags on screenshots is very difficult for me on XDA. I dont know why but it is.
And to reconfigure APN's open up voice dialer app and say "Open APN's" and add your sprint settings in there. If you dont know much about sprint settings such as MMSC EtC. then google is your friend. You can also edit the apns-conf.xml.
And i am new to writing OP's so bear with me on this one.
Crickett?? dang, I wish I knew more of the other side, i would like to try this. And i would love to see some screen shots if you have time.
Good luck in your learning, and keep trying.
You can use it with sprint too. But you might have to reconfigure your apn's which shouldnt be hard. And i am currently PM'ing a Moderator on help to getting my Screenshots transferred to XDA. And thanks ^____^

you are not alone on that being a *****. sometimes screens will work if they are inline, sometimes not. sometimes only large image. and sometimes only small. it is a crap shoot. lol
LOL Your right about that. I managed to link them to billionuploads. They are simply snapshots from Screenshot app on Google Play. Hopefully a moderator can put IMG tags on them for me
i have found that photo bucket for whatever reason( for me) has been the most reliable. but what a pain in the a**
Photo Bucket was actually used in my teams first official rom. Once again IMG tags were clueless to us so of course the kind moderators at XDA put img tags on them. But your right Photo Bucket is hard to work with. lol
Not building completely from source and posting the full source is frowned upon by CM.

I informed people what i used which was launcherLi as an idea. The launcher uses most of LauncherLi Main Xml's Smali's ETC. So basically if you want the source just open up a LauncherLi APK. Because alot of things are the same. I understand if i built this launcher straight from the ground up without any original sources. Then i would use github to distribute my source. I didnt even touch any settings in the CM9 ROM just the launcher and Boot animation. Since this launcher uses LauncherLi main Sources i cannot post the source strictly because it collaborates with the original developer, That is for him to do not me.

I'm using a 23" screen and the post is not easy on the eyes to read. Does the OP not like using BBCode?
Meh, doesn't matter at this point. I'm still not feeling this dev team's work & history. Good luck to them.

Don't post **** like that here. Don't bash the dev looks like he worked pretty hard on this project. If you don't like it just don't come to the thread.

Hey junior.. its opinion don't let it get to you too bad.... besides this dev does have bad rep. Which will be soon forgotten when issues are resolved.
Oh yeah and profanity will invalidate your argument.
