after a bad fall, the connector at the bottom of my xda2 was completly broken... I can't charge it any more, i have disassembled my xda2 and now i need to find a new connector to replace the old one.
Do you know where can i find this ? (radiospares farnell or any other place and with which reference ?)
thank you very much for your help.
Well, maybe you can find one here...

Site is for IPAQ parts, but I thought I heard that at least one of the IPAQ series has the same kind of connector as the XDA II. Forget which one though. Maybe a search would reveil.
If you are good with a soldering iron you might be able to get one to work.
Also, hello @ all in community. Been browsing for a while now. (Just finally registered.) I have to say that this site has been an invalueable resource to me and to all HTC owners! Helped me many times. Everyone here seems to be very knowledgable and helpfull.
I find it !
Many many thanks !!!
if anyone can use them, for reasons that i won't bother you all wit, i have a stream of excitingly broken XDA's and silmilar cluttering up my desk, and the pile only gets bigger.
I'm happy to post them to anywhere in the UK gratis, though i probably shan't bother with registered mail - here's what is sitting glaring at me at the moment. NONE OF THEM HAVE BATTERIES - they're too useful to let go, so maybe you want one to experiment with in some foul xda style Frankenstein fashion, or maybe you just want to take one apart, that's quite fun actually if you've had a really bad day in the office.
1) an HTC 3300 - it just won't boot, or even show a charging light. Before it died, it would perform a soft reboot whenever you put the stylus back in the housing
2) 2 XDA IIs's - cracked screens, one from a motorbike accident, and one from being sat on by some one who thought they would keep their XDA safe by covering it if Velcro, which promptly stuck to the back of his big ignorant arse... the rest writes itself
3) an Eten G500 - won't charge, dented screen, and they are **** in the first place. You can have the battery on this one, as they tend to expand with age in an alarming fashion - which is why the back cover is missing.
4) a T mobile Compact III with a crack across the screen, genuine accident, i'm happy to report
5) a Qtek 2020i, a victim of a road rage incident.
First come, first serve, i assume there is some clever soul out here who could do something useful with them, my ONLY condition being that if you get any or some working, you share the wealth as it were, and make sure someone else here gets happy too

yes you did, i will clear it... and you should be a little more gentle on your devices
How much to post the 3300 to Berlin, DE 10405?
Thanks!
did i understand right ? (english not so good...)
you will give away all the broken pda´s for free ?
i need new buttons for my xda 2s, because my buttons doesn´t work.
maybe i will take them.
can you ship to germany ??? (of course i will pay shipping)
blimey, you lot are quick
ok, so there is a Compact III off to Sean, a IIS to wmvfan, and the 3300 to itschase - i'll check postage and so on later today - unless anyone knows how many first class stamps i should use, which would be helpful - and thank you for tidying up shogun
i promise you my XDA (Stellar, at the moment, though i'm constantly torn between that and the Orbit) is loved like a family member. It's an occupational hazard for the ones out on the road. I have one that was run over by a UPS van glued to my stock room door - it looks like something from a cartoon
ok, the postman is here soon - i still need addresses for itschase and Andrew - this leaves me with a IIs and a Qtek - it looks very much as though i will be adding a dead Orbit to the list, which breaks my heart.
Dibs on the Orbit
damn, wouldnt have minded an orbit
I sent you a PM with my address. Is it too late?
Thank you!
well, the current state of play is that i have an XDAIIS and a Qtek 2020i left, though someone has asked for one or the other - there may well be a dead orbit to add to the list, but with this level of interest maybe we should have some sort of competition - i do have your address itsis #thumb#
you dont mess about do you. mines just come through the door!
through the letterbox, rather than letting itself in with the spare keys, i hope.
all p of the s Sean, otherwise they would end up as landfill, so we're being green.
Well if nobody wants the last one you can send me that one also if you like. i wont be selfish and keep it for myself mind. i will try and repair it and then sell it on ebay and then what ever the profit is i will donate to xda-devs. be good to have a mess about with more WM devices
if the xdaiis is still available i would like to have it,i have one here i need a usb/charger connector for
u still got the orbit??
whats wrong with it??
i will send u my address
have you got the xda iis still, i am am intersted, and what is the postahe cost to bradford uk.
Well, let's hit this dead thread...
Do you still have any device left? If so, could you PM me?
Thank you
Do you still have any left? Please let me know if you do by pm me, thanks!
Still some left ?
Thanks
If anyone knowledable on anything that pertains to my problem could help me out I would be very grateful..here's the scoop..
I have had my polaris for over a year now (out of warranty) and for the longest time I've had issues with the touch screen not responding correctly and having to re-calibrate it all the time. I finally figured out what the issue was yesterday after I hard reset the device and the screen was still messed up...I had been using a dock for this device that isn't manufactured very well -- using the dock day in day out for a few months at work actually bent the pins on the USB connector on the cruise to the point where some of them were touching each other (yikes!)
So, I gave the phone to my dad who's an engineer, he took it to work and used a microscope or whatever and some tools and got the pins back straight again..now the screen works fine! Needless to say that dock is in the garbage now. The brand was "BoxWave" -- stay away from their products, they are JUNK!
Anyways -- I still have a problem with the scroll wheel.
Spinning the wheel does not work at all -- the Up, Down, and Left buttons work when pressed, and the wheel does light up, but spinning it doesn't do anything. Also the Right button doesn't work either. The button in the middle works okay. All of the working buttons cause the light to go on.
The logical conclusion here to me anyways seems to be that the bent pins caused permanent damage to the scroll wheel...I'm very glad it didn't cause perm. damage to the screen (or anything else, so I hope!!)..but anyways -- what would be the best option for me at this point?
Call HTC and have them fix it and pay out of pocket?
About how much would they charge for something like this (ballpark)?
My dad is a very skilled electrical engineer -- he would be willing to take it apart and fix it for me at work..he's got all the tools and stuff for it and doesn't mind at all...what parts should I look into ordering?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide here.
Hi,
I have a similar problem the up, left, right and turning the wheel does not work on my polaris either and I have not damaged it whatsoever. So, i do not think your button problem is because of a possible short circuit. But, sorry to tell you but I do not have a solution to the problem.
I thought I was certain, but occaisonally my screen still dies.
Perhaps it was permanently damaged? It is much better than before though -- but no matter what I do -- the wheel spinning does nothing, and the Right key does nothing at all.
Do you have any clue what part we would need to get replaced?
I am looking to replace the screen as well due to scratches.
I believe it's called a "digitizer" (the screen part not the wheel)
No, sorry. But if you do find out let me know as well.
Thank you.
found this on ebay
Hi,
Guys I found this on eBay. It says it can repair this kind of issue. Although I do not have the time to test.
So, here it is
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Touch-Cruis...ries?hash=item19b5e3f64f&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
P.S. if anyone does test this please give us your feedback. Thank you
What?
Did you post the wrong link or something?
That is a SIM card.
This thread is about the scroll wheel \ DPad.
EDIT:
Nvm, I see in the auction it says its a ribbon or something.
I dunno about this one...but it's cheap.
I still have not even gotten around to repairing my screen \ usb port though...god damn money.
If i order this ill let u know.
OK so I just purchased a new charge port and digitizer, but I have yet to see ANYONE selling a replacement scroll wheel.
Alot of people are selling the "housing" but it's missing the wheel!
Anyone know where to get a replacement metal panel and wheel only, not the entire housing?
I found a jog wheel for the shadow -- wonder if it would fit?
I have the same issue, the jog wheel doesn't work and neither the right button, but everything else works & lights up the keypad part....strange that this is 3 of us with the EXACT problem, maybe there's something we need to figure out? btw, i used to hardly use the buttons, but i used the jogwheel a lot to scroll.
I also have the BoxWave dock, however, i've found mine to be of great quality & use...reading your post made me paranoid so I checked my usb connecter over & over but thankfully everything looks very normal.
I came across this post, because I was actually looking for some user advice on replacing your own housing & wheel. I already found the entire housing & keypad on ebay that comes with the screwdriver set, and i have the manual to assemble & dissassemble.
I would rather do it myself so i wouldn't have to do without my phone while waiting for this to get repaired, but i also don't want to do it if it's very tricky with a big chance of busting phone, so i'm looking for a feel of easy-medium-hard. I've already done something similar 3 years ago to my I-Mate Jamin as well as replacing the speaker, so my technical skills are probably around mid-level.
Anyways best of luck, i'll update this post later to tell you how it went (this could be in 2 weeks time from now).

Housing including the jog wheel and electronics?
I also ordered a usb connector and apparently they sent me one that isn't compatible with the cruise...I think I am just gonna buy a broken one and get the parts from it..they seem to be rare compared to other HTC models!

wow good luck!
Check out this link:

and i also found this for you (is that what came wrong), but you have to make sure it's the 2007 Touch Cruise and see if yours is the POLA100 or POLA200:

I had the same problem but on a 2 year warranty Touch Cruise. Phone was fixed and re-installed with WM 6.1
Know I face Bluetooth connection problems again and the BT hotfix is not accepted anymore.
I do have to say that the upgrade after re-installing should have been left behind.
I have the same problem... Scrol wheel not working en button to the right
anyone ever fixed this?
Hey Guys!
I've got the same problem with the wheel and the right button. So I was wondering if anyone fixed the problem?
I have no warranty anymore
I think I know what's your problem, mates.. It seems that it is essential for almost any P3650 - the cable, which is going from the jog wheel to the keyboard control unit tears apart just before (or exactly at) the copper pads on the molex thingie, that plugs into K/B unit (damage is so slight, that it barely can be seen).
I had no luck looking for the jog wheel sold seperately from housing, or at least with that plastic-chromed buttons cover. If anyone finds out that it is possible to obtain it seperately - I would greatly appreciate
Btw, same problem goes for sim holder's cable - I have replaced mine 2 times already (you can get 'em for around 15$ from ebay).
Sorry for my english - it's a bit rusty atm
Same problem here..wheel doesn't function can't find the part by itself ..
Touch Cruise jog wheel & keyboard
Exact same here - jog wheel scrolling broken & right selection does not work. Besides, my "call" key stucks time to time.
So for now I've just got both of them - jog wheel and keyboard (not the entire housing) from ebay, 15 & 7 $ respective
wheel ordered from the following ebay location :
cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=260656153778&si=1E2jM09T8qOM9DzM6uzrXo5Qiqg%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT
same provider has keyboard also, for some reason it is not on eBay active items. But you can contact the seller and ask for it.
I gonna replace both in a near future, and will update about the result.
So here's the deal... I'm really sick of taking my headphone adaptor with me everywhere, and I really love my modded iPhone headphones (I removed the standard earbuds and soldered my very nice Sony earbuds to them).
What I want to do (or should I say, what I'm going to do?) is open up my touch pro and find a nice spot to throw in a 3.5 mm headset port. Unfortunately I can't start today (I left my small screwdriver set at school) and I am wondering if there are any internal shots of the device.
Also, should I make a step by step guide on how to do this so others can attempt?
That would be pretty nuts. Where will you put it? Ideal would be right on top next to the speaker. Post pictures.
the place would be near the charing port....
I believe there are shots of the insides of a touch pro in the maintenence documents. I don't remember what their called specifically, but I know I saw them listed on either engadget or fuze mobility at one point in time. I have a copy actually, I just don't know where at on my comp :?
So here's the good news:
I've successfully found the documents on dissassembly of the Touch Pro and Disassembled the device.
I've also found a prime location for the headphone adaptor location, in the top right corner of the back side there is a nice spot, which with some small modifications should be able to seat the needed adaptor.
I know what to wire to which ports thanks to THIS thread.
This hack should work for the TV out reg hack if I assume correctly.
And here's the bad news:
My headphone bottom adaptor has had a wire break on the left headphone, but it should be an easy / cheap fix.
The locations where I need to solder are very small!
I'm not quite sure which ports on the inside are the corresponding ports on the other side, but I could probably figure that out with a volt-o-meter and some time.
So now it's a matter of me finding the bravery and time to do this
Good luck dude...
Yeh good luck. We look forward to seeing what happens next.
I'd love to see this, but probably wouldn't attempt it myself. Good luck though!
Oh, beautiful!
Let us stay up to date, mate.
Status report?
So today I went and looked at some better soldering tools and solder itself, it should work pretty well with my strategy to attempt this maneuver
Within 1-2 weeks this should be do-able!
That's good.
Maybe you could consider makeing photos while opening the phone? Especially of what exactly you are soldering?
That would be really nice, I'm really interested in this project.
If you can make this and it will work and if it won't destroy the beautiful design of the Touch Pro you would be a genious
It would be very nice too if you could make a step-by-step guide....
EDIT: Good Luck ;-)
Doing this today
I am about to do this very thing today and ran across this thread while trying to find the pinout schematics on the usb/charge port. I will try to take and post some pics of it as i go through the process.
If you are looking at the bottom of the phone, with the face turned up, there is room for the audio port just to the left of the usb jack, i plan to drill the hole right where the little usb symbol is at on mine. (vzw 6850).
Love this phone, the only irritation i have is the lack of an onboard audio port. I use mine as a net radio in the truck quite commonly, and I feel that the added weight of the dongle being on that USB port all the time will eventually damage the port,
More to come....
I got this project done. Got a decent pic set of the first part of it. I tried to BBcode the images in and got -

MAAAAN!!! You beat me too it! I guess that's what I get for being too busy
I'm really looking forward to seeing how you did it vs. How I'm doing it though!
edit: I almost forgot to say congratulations bro! I'm proud of you!
First of all: GREAT JOB!!
Can you make an attachement?
If not I will send you my e-mail-address and you can send me the pic
I will attach it then
uuuh yeaht, show it to us!
you could upload the pics also on hotfile or sth. like this.
@benpace:
I don't wanna hurry you but when do you upload some pics of your "construction"?
First man to upload images, details on this will be the one to take the credit.
Come on boys, finish what you started.
I'm wondering if anyone knows what these are... I cant find any info anywhere on that particular SMD code. They're on the underside of a MTCD core board and there's a number of them. The burned one has something to do with the LCD backlight/dimming function, as this isn't working after a mishap that led to letting the smoke out. I believe they're either caps or diodes simce there's clearly a polarity marker on them, but I'm kinda at a loss and would really appreciate any light anyone could shine on my problem.
Thanks in advance!!!
Been a while, so I figured it'd be ok to bump. Anyone have any ideas? I'd love to get this thing functioning correctly again!!
How many solder pads? I intrepted the pic of the failed component as “TAK” looked it up here. Keep scrolling. https://smd.yooneed.one/code5441.html
Yeah... I found that site as well. The issue is that there's only two conductors on these components and every part listed there has more. So it's definitely not any of those they have listed.
