Time changes on Wizard when I connect with activesync 4.5 - General Topics

time on device changes back an hour when connecting to Active Sync 4.5b
>> using Xplore 1.1 WM6 ROM and activesync 4.5b, ticked off 'update date and time' in AS. MS DST patch ok on XP desktop
guest connection is fine but as soon as i create partnership the devices time goes back an hour on every connect.
The horrid thing is I wiped my calendar on exchange! HOW you ask
- all event times were off 1 hour on device
- changed device time manually - no luck
- used sk tools to wipe calendar
- AS sync - wiped calendar from exchange- no PST backup
so i learned that AS is crap and has no setting to let outlook rule etc. and that you have to delete partnership first in this case!
PISSED

update - seems like it's keeping the time on the device now but calendar appts are an hour behind on the device.
I was using WM6 'The Real Thing' rom prior (post DST)and did not have this problem.

fixed. chabnged from 0-5 GMT bogota to -5 GMT eastern US- funny

Faria - The Real Thing --> problem with contacts, calendar, date

well, congrats Faria! real good stuff!
But, i bought my PDA so i can have my calendar/contacts with me all the time and up to date and im not getting that...
first let me describe the problem:
1 - Contacts sincronize but the birthdays are all mixed (birthday from "ana" goes to "antonio" and bday from "antonio" goes to "jose" and so on)
2 - Calendar just dont sincronize or takes forever (several entries on OUT 2003 some day appoint, and birthdays that repeat every year)
3 - Date keeps changing random (doesnt takes the PC date/hour or any other date/hour that is configured)
tried these sugested fixes (from other posts):
- Hard reset after aplying regional settings and sync after that. (didnt work with neither problems)
- Sync only contacts (didnt resolve anything)
- remove "today Agenda" before sync (same)
- Remove the "enable advanced network functionality" from "usb to pc" (still a disapointment)
i really need some help, and from the forums, some other people have the same problem.
from monday until today, i reseted the device about 6 times and didnt resolve the problems...
i will be waiting for the resolution...
btw: i had the wm6 underground with no prob like this one...
thanks in advance!
Hi, I had a problem with synching the calendar entries when first using this ROM, it was resolved by going into settings "Clocks & Alarms" then changing the time zone to anything other than what it is already set on and then changing back to the setting you want. Hope it works.

Click to collapse
well, i did it and...it worked!
here it goes how i did it:
- in clocks, puted the "home and visiting" with the same date (i dont know if this matters)
- changed the "home" date to some other gmt and closed clock settings
- entered clock and changed back to the real gmt setting.
- sync as i wanted!
edde: thanks for the help!

Activesync - why no manual sync?

When I changed my WM-2003 smartphone for a new HTC S710 I had to upgrade Activesync to version 4.5.
This has a most undesireeable feature of syncing every 5 minutes when connected to my PC - does any one think this is a wanted feature? Can we petition Microsofte to remove it?
Searching the net I found a couple of sugestions for stopping this happening. One was to change a registry setting on the PC to disable sync on connect - Trid this but it had no effect. The other was to create a 'dummy' server on the phone and change the schedule settings to manual and then delete the 'dummy' server (the schedule option is greyed out normally) - this had no effect either.
My phone still insists on syncing every 5 minutes.
I would like it to sync on first connection, but if I am copying a lot of files to the phone (Music/Videos from itunes for which I have a script to update them automatically when I connect my phone so I have something new to watch/listem to every day) then the 5 minute auto sync interferes with this - slows down the file transfer and in some cases Active sync disconnects the phone and I have to re-start the transfer.
I could just remove the SD card - but its a lot easier to dock the phone walk away and come back later with everything update at least it would be if active sync did not try and update my contacts/emails every 5 minutes.
Another problem is that if I accidently un-dock the phone whilst it is doing one of these unwanted sync's then it usually corrupts my contacts/mail on the phone and I have to do a total re-sync - sometimes requiring a delete of the partnership to get it to work again.
Manual sync in 4.5?
Has anyone solved the problem with the missing "Manual Sync" in ActiveSync 4.5?
Previous versions of ActiveSync had a "Manual Sync" option, in that you had to click "sync" to sync your mobile device (I have an HTC 8525 and Windows XP pro PC, USB cable to PC) .
I tried adding a "fake" Exchange server, but it still automatically syncs the 8525 about every 5 minutes, and immediately when I connect. The "Schedule" menu option is now enabled, and it shows "Manual" in both the PC's activesync and on the 8525.
But-- it still syncs upon connection, and about every 5 minutes as long as it's connected.
Anyone find an actual solution to this one?
Solution
There is a solution by editing the registry:
Something about ActiveSync’s 5-minute sync feature -- http://www.gpcarreon.com/?p=592
Short:
* How: Fake Reg Key so that ActiveSync thinks Device is not cradled
* With: http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/
* Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Hardware\Cradled
My batchfile:
CeRegCMD.exe -w -kn "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Hardware" -vn "Cradled" -vd 0
it works, device stays connected (transfer, deploy, etc..) but AS is fooled
have phun..

Time is always WRONG and there is no DST in Brisbane..

Hi all, I got my Touch Pro few days ago, and one thing that bothers me alot is the time is WRONG!
I've set the timezone on my phone as GMT+10 Brisbane where there is no daylight saving apply. However, as soon as I connect the phone to my computer, it automaticlly +1 Hour, It is now displaying GMT+11 time, even if there is DST, it should be GMT+9 rather than GMT+11. Appointments that sync from PC to WM are all +1 hour too, IE if i keep using the wrong time, I'll still be right with appointments... WTF... eg. Current time is 10 and flight is 12, my phone actually displays as Current time is 11 and flight is 1pm! ROFL.
I've tried to install WMDST2008-1.CAB and update my outlook with Outlook Timezone Move.exe and still no sucess on the issue.
Can any one help?
Go into ActiveSync, Tools | Options.
Highlight your PC sync name, click Settings, then untick to sync date and time
search

Activsync problems

I have HTC Fuze I purchase two weeks ago and having problems with Activesync.
I've installed the software and hook the usb to the computer and it sync just fine.
The next day I tried to sync, it didn't reconize my profile from previous day and made me do another one.
It worked for a couple days, now it says I have two profiles on the device and I need to delete one to sync.
Why is the Activesync not recognizing the very first one I did?
I'm assuming you are getting an error code. It would help if you could tell us the specific code #. It would narrow it down.
Also, are you using Activesync 4.5? Which would be the most recent. My last question is, which Windows Mobile are you using? If you are using WM 6.1 it has a bug which causes problems with Activesync, if you have more than 100 of any category of item that is being synced. Contacts, appointments, notes, etc.
One possibility for why it didn't recognize your profile, have you made any significant changes in your phone during this time?
When you delete one of the profiles, make sure you not only delete the profile on your PC, make sure you delete the extra profile(s) on the activesync on your phone.
I'm not getting an error code, I get the "welcome to Pocket PC Wizard" and it wants me to set the device up all over again.
I am using ActiveSync 4.5 and WM 6.1.
When it sync, I have 54 contacts and 28 calendar events, so it didn't reach the 100 you were talking about.
I did delete everything from the device and PC last night when I set the lastest profile up.
I just plug the USB to the device again today and it pop open the "Welcome to Pocket PC Wizard". I just set everything up last night.
I guess until they fix the bug, I will always have to do this.

Birthday issue (1 day shifted)

Hello everybody,
I have an issue with my HTC Diamond and my contact's birthday date!
On MS Outlook 2003 (french release), birthday is ok (ie : 20 Oct. 79).
On the Diamond, it appears to be shifted 1 day in the past (ie : 19 OCt. 79)
Both PC & PDA are on the same time fuse (GMT+1 Paris), the date is the same, and the time is also the same !
I'm lost and it's driving me crazy... I already saved my contacts on the PC, then delete all of them in Outlook, the sync, and delete the sync parameters in PDA & PC, and import them back, but still not working.
Does someone already had the same problem ?
Regards
Sync time is decided by outlook's time preferences, not by the default cpu clock.
try to change the calendar's time to meet your requirements.
I already checked, and outlook calendar time is matching with both PC and PDA's.
So it seems the problem is not there
Might be a "daylight saving time" setting, not sure where to change it though...
edit; oops, thats only an hour difference, not a day, sorry
a workaround for this can be..
1. open outlook
2. go to tools/options/calendar options/time zone/change calendar time zone
3. change the time zone to fit the delay
this should change all your appointments..
but maybe you should go thru all calendar options over there to see you didn't miss anything
