i'm searching for the jtag test points of the prophet in order to repair a friend's prophet.
There is a row with 8 square test points on the one side of the pcb and 16 additional on the other side.
Any ideas what to search for?
If someone wishes, I can upload high res images of the main board.
Thanks
i think if you uploaded pictures of the board, both sides, it would help a lot of people to help you!
whats wrong with his prophet?

thank you very much for your help.
Well, maybe you can find one here...

Site is for IPAQ parts, but I thought I heard that at least one of the IPAQ series has the same kind of connector as the XDA II. Forget which one though. Maybe a search would reveil.
If you are good with a soldering iron you might be able to get one to work.
Also, hello @ all in community. Been browsing for a while now. (Just finally registered.) I have to say that this site has been an invalueable resource to me and to all HTC owners! Helped me many times. Everyone here seems to be very knowledgable and helpfull.
I find it !
Many many thanks !!!
I need to open the case of my Tornado. So far, I've taken 3 screws out from the back and managed to pry the bottom part slightly open. I can't get it open completely since the top part seems stuck and I don't want to break it by forcing it to open. Can someone please guide me? Thanks
may be this link can help you

There's a screw hidden behind a little sticker that warns warranty void if removed. Behind the battery.
Thanks for the info.

However i have a question...the qtek 8300 or dopod 586 buttons are they interchangable with the t-mobile sda? kinda tired of seeing that pink t-zone logo on my phone . also it would make my day if i got a yes to this question.... the housing on those same phones fit my sda?

I believe they are the same in all details except for the printing.
I have been examining them carefully as I wish to buy a new housing.
Hi there,
I have a really desperate problem
I've got an Orbit II bought in Germany and I'm not covered by their guarantee here in Moscow. So, I happened to be a very lucky one and the touch screen of my device is faulty - it has a gray stain on it clearly visible on a white background.
I found a replacement screen for the Touch Cruise here but what the technicians discovered yesterday was that the screen was actually the same, but the cord on that TC screen (stub, whatever) sticks out at a different place than on mine!
Found out one more thing:
Orbit 2 = Polaris 200.
TC = Polaris 100.
Guys, can anyone help me find a source to buy a replacement screen for Orbit 2 in Germany or UK?
Thanks a whole lot in advance!!!
I have posted a request for you over in the german ppc-Welt Forum
Maybe someone gathers some information there. I will keep you updated.

But the problem is that the display on the photo is for TC, NOT for Orbit 2
As I said earlier,
but the cord on that TC screen (stub, whatever) sticks out at a different place than on mine!
You see, the cord on this one sticks out in the lower left corner of the screen. But mine is in the middle of the left side.

Interesting because on the posted link,
they state it fits for following devices:
HTC:
Touch Cruise
Polaris
P3650
XDA mini II
O2:
XDA Orbit 2
This would assume, that it is the same for all models
Maybe best is to email them and describe your problem by support form:

Did you order one?
http://cnn.cn/shop/p3650-touch-cruise-polaris-c-277_456.html
No, haven't ordered anything yet. But these guys have told me finally that their screen is incompatible with my Orbit but they will try to find one that is
I hope to have news next week.
Will this
Click
be the whole screen or are there two parts (lcd and digitizer).
How do I know, what is broken?
On my device there is a small black spot like ink and a tiny crack from the whole left to right. Display is working fine except the black part, the touchscreen works everywhere.
What parts do I need?
Thank you
JueLue
Well, I was informed by those technicians who disassembled my device that I needed the whole screen. That's the only thing I know.
So, I can't help you here.
I have a dent\scratch in the housing, and multiple scratches on my screen
I'm actually thinking about selling my TC, cause of all the issues, etc.
I wonder if it's worth it to buy the housing and screen replacements...hm
I'm gonna wait until someone here has successfully used one of those kits and successfully dismantled the device.
Knowing me, I would definately destroy it without reading a how-to from someone who has actually done this before
Hello Dimitry N!
Have you got some news for us? Did you get a new LCD screen? And how to replace? Many questions....
I got myself a TC instead.
The Orbit 2 has a Samsung (!!!) touch screen, which is a real piece of ****.
The one on the TC really does have the viewing angle of 180 degrees, as it was advertised.
The Orbit 2's screen - no. When you look at it from the "top", the image on the screen darkens a lot, and vice versa. And the image on the TC screen is a lot crisper! I can tell this by holding the 2 devices together right now!
What a pity! O2 decided to include some nice accessories like the car charger and the car holder, and saved on the screen instead!
So, I will sell my Orbit 2!
Hi.
Had some time to play with G-Tab and took it apart. Not a big deal, only 4 screws.
What I noticed was the empty socket on Motherboard with corresponding mounting screw holes on the chassis in between the battery and the MoBo. Several thoughts come to mind.... Is there a GPS module that can be installed internally? Or SSD?
Didn't take pictures thou... Big mistake, but I promise I'll take it apart again and post pix on the weekend. Hopefully someone will be able to recognize the connection and shed some light on what else could be installed and supported by G-Tab. If there was any way to get schematics of the tablet to make a little more understanding of hardware layout?
If anyone has any thoughts or knowledge, please chip in.
Thanks!

Thanks a lot!! That well explains it! So, it's a 3G module!! Sad part is, it's Verizon..... I would rather prefer T-mo or ATT....
But, oh well.. Will try to find the 3G module to play with it!
So, I don't have to take the tablet apart again. Pictures posted in provided link well illustrate and describe the hardware.
Really appreciated!

I was have the same problem with pictures (gray). I've renamed "DCIM" and "Camera" folders in SDCard for backup it, and pictures now works fine. Maybe you should try it, before do some hardware things .
Good luck! Hope you get it fixed. This thread belongs to the Q&A section, this isn't android development is it?

If you already identified the component and have the necessary equipment (the thinnest solder iron and tweezer that you can find, as well as steady hands), all that's left is a good luck, man.

I HAVE TRIED THAT NO LUCK ahhahah and i know that i broke my board part so i only need to se which part it is and now i knoc couse my face front cam is working and camcoder also but primary cam wont save pic and there say that those broken pieces are for primary cam so i ONLY need to solder them back if some one have some god advice please write it down
Just solder them with a fine tip on a 15/30w soldering iron. Done it a few times, SMD components are small, but not impossible. Have something to hold the component down and a magnifying glass will help.

How about this:
Take a piece of copper wire about 1mm in diameter.
Wrap it around the soldering iron end.
Wait until it heats up enough.
Now you have your own micro-soldering iron!

You really shouldn't be playing around with the motherboard if you aren't 100% sure what you're doing. But seeing as you already have, the best bet would be try contacting Samsung and if if they'll fix it under warranty. Just be sure not to say that YOU messed with it. Just put everything back to where it was and make it look like you didn't open it or touch it. I just got mine back from warranty for a faulty motherboard so I know they can replace it easy.
Good luck,
Regards,
