Autorun and crossbow - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Faria and NTS seem to know this...
How do we get the extended rom to automatically run on Crossbow? I've searched Google and others and haven't found a thing. Is it a reg. setting or what?

Ok, you have an autorun.exe in the windows directory, and a config.txt file in the windows directory. The config.txt is the same as it was in WM5 just a location change. Have all your lines point to \extended_rom\ and youll be fine

Wrong thread I know - but I looked all over the place and can't seem to find the definitive answer ... so here goes - am I correct in assuming that it's possible to delete the contents of ext_rom once you've used them? I guess that they are only for installing into the "real" storage, and just as long as you don't need them following a hard reset, they are just taking up some space .. am I correct?

I'm working with orwell's. Those files aren't there, so what has to happen?

No. In AKU 2.x and above, the extended rom partition is locked and cannot be written to and cannot have files deleted.

I'm not too smart either...can you give instructions?

In the system hive, (default.hv) you should have:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm]
"TurnRadioFlag"=dword:0
"AutoRunCFG"="\\Extended_ROM\\config.txt"
"AutoRun"="\\Extended_ROM\\autorun.exe"
Most of the WM6 ROMs are missing the last two keys, thus the Autorun of the Extended_ROM is disabled by default.

in all honesty, you are wrong. Even if those lines are there, for some reason the checkautorun still looks in the windows directory for the config file and the autorun file. I have searched the whole default.hv and still cant figure out why. You figure it out and ill give you a cookie.

Faria's RK - customized keyboard (no msim.96.dll.0409.mui)

Hi folks!
Firstly huge thanks to all of you guys, great community!
After i have installed WM6 (Faria's RK, btw. a brilliant work) I have been trying to install an individual keyboard layout for a couple of hours. Well I read that the msim.96.dll.0409.mui has to be replaced but there is not such a file (yes, i can see even all hidden files etc.) - therfore simply copying the file in the directory wont change anything. The only files i've got are msim.96.dll and msim.dll - and of course they are in the ROM, means no overwriting or deleting possible. Probably I gotta add anything to the registry to refer the keyboard to the new file msim.96.dll.0409.mui???
Thx.

thats because ther is no such file in any wm6 by default!...just put the file in any package. or just copy the file to windows in the device.
just copying the file doesn't work (did even a reset), i guess wm6 isnt searching (no registry entry by default) for msim.96.dll.0409.mui.
any other suggestions?

.0409 is for English (United States) regional settings. Is that what you are set to?
Yes... still not working.
That doesn't make any sense. I take the mUn keyboard (which is just that file) drop it in \Windows, soft reset, and it works. My package I use in my rom is doing exactly the same. There should be nothing else to it. Either your mui file is bad, or there is something else different with your build.
Is the rom you are running built as WWE?
As far as I know it is... under Settings > Device Info, it reads "ROM Version: 2.18.0.0 WWE"
It's Faria's RK Crossbow
the same here, i am not using faria's WWE instead i flashed a file created with the RK. i already tried quite a lot, even renaming the 0409 to 0407 as i am using the German regional settings.
there are probably differences between the RK and WWE (version)

is there a config or ini file autorun reads?
you can dump roms at this point just not rebuild them so you could go look for yourself lol.. But it is 3 config files not just one in the Kaiser
My thinking was that you could modify the autorun config files to only load what you want and do a hard reset - if the files are all in the \windows directory and not in extended ROM - would it read the files from there or are they in some secret place?
Once you cook a rom, you can edit the config.txt/preconfig.txt to point to installs anywhere:
CAB:\Storage Card\install.cab
However, you must cook the ROM in order to get changes to the files to stick. If you edit it now, it won't persist after a hard reset.

Install .cab during Customization?

I would also like to know how to install a .cab during Customization (in 3 seconds). Does anyone know how?
anyone?
What do you mean by converting a .tsk????
Just put the .tsk in the OEMOperators Package instead of the one the ROM does and change the config file...i
yeah, i dont think that "convert" was the best word choice, but i basically just wanted to use a custom theme in my rom and was wondering how to do that. ill give this a shot, though

im sory, but does anyone have the answer for this? im pretty sure laurentius26 uses it in his roms, but thid thread has had 150+ views and no respnses other than mine on one other one...
For OEM you could make an cab of it then use packages creator 5.4.exe Might not be the simplest solution but..
For UC use the cab you made above
Atleast now you have something to go on.

There are two methods you can use to cook a cab into the customization install.
To hardcode the cab into the install locate the config.txt and add a line for your cab. The formatting is pretty self explanatory once you look in the file itself, or to be more user friendly and allow used to decide whether or not they want to install the cab in the first place rather than just make it uninstallable go here and include the cab(s) in a separate UC package.
there is no reason for a .cab what so ever just put your .tsk in the rom dump (dont even use package tools) and edit the config to your .tsk its really simple as the config.txt all ready has a line that installs the defualt .tsk so just edit that to the name of your .tsk lets say custom.tsk

Open: C:\kaiserkitchen\OEM\OEMAPPS\Config_AP.txt
You will se something like this:
Code:
CAB: \WINDOWS\CVC-PPC-WWE-705142-DopodPPC.CAB
CFG: \Windows\config.txt
CVC-PPC-WWE-705142-DopodPPC.CAB is actually cyberon voice command
Now what you do is:
1. Place youre cab here: C:\kaiserkitchen\OEM\OEMAPPS
(let call it: search4answer.cab)
Now you have search4answer.cab in youre C:\kaiserkitchen\OEM\OEMAPPS folder.
2. Open: C:\kaiserkitchen\OEM\OEMAPPS\Config_AP.txt
and insert the name of the cab.
Code:
CAB: \WINDOWS\CVC-PPC-WWE-705142-DopodPPC.CAB
CAB: \WINDOWS\search4answer.cab
CFG: \Windows\config.txt
Remember Config_AP.txt is locked, unlock it and lock after you have edited.
Close all, and cook it up. Now youre cab will be installed under what you call 1-2-3 customization install.
The cab will be uninstable if you flaged it to be so.

Unistalling cooked programs in ROMs

I know that the prograns cooked by the chefs in their ROMs can't be uninstalled by simple going do the "Remove Programs" button on the Settings part of the ROM.
I want to know if there is a way to uninstall some programs cooked in the ROMs BEFORE flashing them into Kaiser...
Is there any program that can easily do this?
Is it safe?
Can it be done without major knowlowedge of the cooking/programming processes?
Since I use the ROMs in Brazil, some of the programs that usually comes cooked in the ROMs are pretty much uselles here (e.g., that one that "reads" the name of the contact that's calling).
Usually I just disable then, but it is kind of a waste of space leaving them there without using.
I would like to know the answer as well

Hi there,
I would use a ROM Image Editor software.
Search for htcRIE_0.4.0.51.exe. open the .nbh file and you will see all the
files included in the ROM. Some files you can delete without having to worry about anything. Give it a try.
I don't take any responsibility if you modify/delete files and it breaks your phone.
Good Luck.

Thank you! I'll look for it.
But the chance of breaking the phone is relevant? I mean, why deleting some third party app files prevent me from flashing another ROM later, if anything goes wrong?
I don't want to deal with anything related to the OS itself, just eventual softwares installed, like MS Voice Command or RSS Hub.
If the only way is to delete file by file I'm note too sure if it is worth the work...
I honestly toought that there was a program that you could open the .nbh file and it would show the installed prograns and the option to remove them.

not worth the work???? what work??? u open the nbh file, u select the file, and u delete it. much less work than actually recooking the rom.
i use htcrie all the time, and i've screwed up many many times. If u screwed it up, and deleted something that you shouldnt......then just start again from a copy of the original and make sure u dont delete it.
or, the 'easy' way (and most chefs provide this) is to flash a 'lite' or 'naked' version of the rom series, then add the crap you DO want. or, download a kitchen and cook your own!

1- if you already install Sashimi.cab you will get SASHIMI folder in storage card
2- copy cab's programs that you want to install in main memory to SASHIMI\Auto\cab\
3-copy cab's programs that you want to install in main memory to SASHIMI\Auto\cab\SC\
3-copy reg files that you want to install in SASHIMI\Auto\REG\

after you upgrade your Leo or hardreset it, run Autorun.exe from SASHIMI\Program\2577\

I just replaced my SASHIMI.mcsr and it does fix files installed to the device memory but for cabs installed to the storage card, I have to still select storage card and hit 'OK'. Then I have to go to the Home menu and come back to SASHIMI before SASHIMI will carry on with the next cab (in which then I have to repeat the steps for all cabs to be installed to the SC).
Anyone know what could be wrong?
I'm running: Energy.RHODCDMA.23549.Sense2.5_with_Cookie_HomeTab.Mar.20.7z
on a TP2
Me too
It seems that the "SendSpecial ("Down")" is not working and the script may be hanging on the command, or something like that. You don't see the selection change, so it could also be the "SendSpecial("Space")" not working. Either way, the "SendSpecial("LeftSoft")" just after is obviously not firing. Not sure why it's different now, but it apparently is. There used to be a "SendSpecial("CR")" instead of the "SendSpecial("Space")", so I'll try that to see if it's working again (worked in win6.1, not in win6.5). Mine's been working just fine, up till the very latest Energy ROM on my CDMA TP2.

Sorry to ask maybe the obvious but for a newbie it is helping to sort out missunderstanding.

you need to install Sashimi program once in you device to storage card
1- if you already install Sashimi.cab you will get SASHIMI folder in storage card
2- copy cab's programs that you want to install in main memory to SASHIMI\Auto\cab\
3-copy cab's programs that you want to install in main memory to SASHIMI\Auto\cab\SC\
3-copy reg files that you want to install in SASHIMI\Auto\REG\
and so on
after you upgrade your Leo or hardreset it, run Autorun.exe from SASHIMI\Program\2577\
and chose AUTO

Is point 3 a typo?

You're right there off course
I am having no luck with the v8.0 of Sashimi. I have the Artemis ROM (WinMo v. 6.5.5).
Auto mode only installs cabs from cab/ASL folder. I replaced the Sashimi.mscr with the one posted in this thread but to no avail.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
me too,
sashimi doesnt install (not works) for new artemis v7. It install all my cabs from auto/SC to device becasue it can not move cursore down anymore..
any suggestions?
I also had a problem with cabs not auto installing onto my Storage Card, instead they were installing to My Device. I have been doing some hunting around for the solution and i think i have managed to find it. (its worked for me anyway).
Go to SASHIMI > Program > Bin, BACKUP SASHIMI.mscr and then replace with the one i have attached. I am no coder so please don't ask me about specifics, there were just some hashes added to the beginning of a couple of lines of code. Like i say it worked for me, so hopefully it will work for you Let us know if it works for you. Cheers.
I'm surprised that either of the attachments on this thread works on HD2 Leo. I found that there is a very basic problem with mortscript and all sashimi scripts will hang. Two symptoms:
1) if not in flight mode, sometimes hangs during initialisation
2) if auto install to storage card, will hang (leaving you to select the radio button and press install)
and there is no easy cure.
