Take a look at \Windows and you find the CheckAutoRun.exe and the AutoRun.exe and, of course, the CABs files...

If you add cab files here will it install them after a hard reset? If not is there a way to do that?
Thanks

If you make Hard Reset, all the content you copied wiil be lost, so you need to recook a ROM to add content here.
Yes there is NO Ext_Rom in the Kaiser....
Thanks!
But if i'd like to recook a ROM... How i made it?

You can't.. Yet...
Give it a few more days and tadzio will get the build process figured out.

is there a config or ini file autorun reads?
you can dump roms at this point just not rebuild them so you could go look for yourself lol.. But it is 3 config files not just one in the Kaiser
My thinking was that you could modify the autorun config files to only load what you want and do a hard reset - if the files are all in the \windows directory and not in extended ROM - would it read the files from there or are they in some secret place?
Once you cook a rom, you can edit the config.txt/preconfig.txt to point to installs anywhere:
CAB:\Storage Card\install.cab
However, you must cook the ROM in order to get changes to the files to stick. If you edit it now, it won't persist after a hard reset.

How do we get the extended rom to automatically run on Crossbow? I've searched Google and others and haven't found a thing. Is it a reg. setting or what?

Ok, you have an autorun.exe in the windows directory, and a config.txt file in the windows directory. The config.txt is the same as it was in WM5 just a location change. Have all your lines point to \extended_rom\ and youll be fine
Wrong thread I know - but I looked all over the place and can't seem to find the definitive answer ... so here goes - am I correct in assuming that it's possible to delete the contents of ext_rom once you've used them? I guess that they are only for installing into the "real" storage, and just as long as you don't need them following a hard reset, they are just taking up some space .. am I correct?
I'm working with orwell's. Those files aren't there, so what has to happen?

No. In AKU 2.x and above, the extended rom partition is locked and cannot be written to and cannot have files deleted.

If you are on orwells, you need to do it the WM5 way from what I understand.

I'm not too smart either...can you give instructions?
In the system hive, (default.hv) you should have:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm]
"TurnRadioFlag"=dword:0
"AutoRunCFG"="\\Extended_ROM\\config.txt"
"AutoRun"="\\Extended_ROM\\autorun.exe"
Most of the WM6 ROMs are missing the last two keys, thus the Autorun of the Extended_ROM is disabled by default.

in all honesty, you are wrong. Even if those lines are there, for some reason the checkautorun still looks in the windows directory for the config file and the autorun file. I have searched the whole default.hv and still cant figure out why. You figure it out and ill give you a cookie.
Hi all, I have a QTEK 9100.
I installed the cab to unhide the extended ROM folder and after a soft-reset I installed Windows Commander/CE 2.0 on my device and when I try to browse Extended_Rom folder I have access but some files names are "unreadable" (I mean, weird characters) and report an impossible file size (example 3.03 GB!)
My question is: Is my Extended_Rom damaged or encrypted? How can I get access to it?
i will say this again: using ext unhider almost always seems to end with corrupted ext rom. any change from TC too.
your case seems to be typical corruption situation.
Do you know how to recover/correct the Extended_ROM? or is it simply damaged???

Hi
Is not damaged...
But if you use your QTEK to write something in extended it seems damaged...
You have 2 ways....
Hard reset or reinstall extended...
Regards...
I didn't write anything in the Exended_ROM folder. I just wanted to know what it contains...
Is there a way to see the files inside Extended_Rom folder normally?... Where can I find my original Extended_ROM? Will a hard reset repair the Extended_ROM?
normal way to view extended rom is to type "\Extended_Rom\" in Total Commander without quotes...
I don't trust unlocking the extended rom...in all the wizard forums, there doesn't seem to be any advantage to doing so...I heard it was only 10 megs of space anyway, and I think a 2 gig sd card is acceptable...

yeah thats what i was trying to say ^^
to be more clearly
the extended rom is damaged and formatting it (hard reset or wipe storage) wont do the trick
u need to rebuilt the disk layout which is done by flashing t-mobile 2.26 rom as it has a good extended rom
Or simply flash any EXTrom.. you can make one for your self.. make an empty EXTrom.. and flash..
Hello Friends,
I have managed the new WM6 kitchen based on Ivan's new (17913.0.3.0) build. This is a clean vanilla kitchen, you can add your own flavor and the way you want it.
I've uploaded the kitchen to the following url and hope that you will like it.
http://www.siemens-bd.net/files/000000
Files have been splited into 10 parts (5MB each) because of my unstable internet connection here. Uploading a 50MB file for me is simply a nightmare! Please download all of them and unrar.
You will find two cmd files (1. BuildKitchen.cmd and 2. CreateROM.cmd) inside the ROM_DEV folder after the unrar.
Step-1: Run the BuildKitchen.cmd (first time only), it will dump the rom and prepare the kitchen for you.
[Additionally, you may use it to dump other WM6 rom and prepare the kitchen. In that case, decode the rom, copy (or overwrite) the nk.nba file to the ROM folder and run this cmd to build the kitchen.]
Step-2: Run the CreateROM.cmd to build the rom...as usual.
You will find a Ranju_OEM folder under the ROM_DEV folder. Some of the oem packages have been added if anyone is interested to use. Just copy your desired packages to the OEM folder and build the rom.
And finally, all credit goes to Ivan. Special thanx to Helmi, Midget, Bepe and Tuatara for their tools and support.
By the way, I've a limited bandwidth to this server, it will be great if someone mirror it somewhere.
Best regards,
Ranju

Very good Job: just like i was thinking. Probably I don't need any other apps for OEM.

Did you modify any cmd file?
If not, then delete the temp folder. Do a search on SYS & OEM for "Thumbs.db" and delete them if found any. Run the CreateROM.cmd.
I suppose "Thumbs.db" have been created by your picture browser apps.
"Thumbs.db" is a file that Windows XP (and Vista) create if you preview a picture or movie. Its not important at all (although Windows will complain that it is a "System File")
(Nifty fact: Windows XP can create the "thumbs.db" file in a read-only network share!)
Thanks for the info, i'll try deleting and recompile.
Deleted, compiled and flashed: every essential function i tested is working. The kitchen is very clean! Many thanks ranju!
Little update of the kitchen
This is a little update of the kitchen:
* Due to the slow response of the phone, dialing/ending tone have been removed
* Update for HTC Task Manager 1.5 (Exclusive apps can be added now)
Please download the zip and copy/replace to the associated folder.
Update: HTC Task Manager cab attached.

Can you please make a cab of it so that we can install. Dont want to go through re in stalling rom. Appreciate
Or if you can advice the registry entries for both above issues please.
Phone.cab
A cab file for the file in phone.zip is not that difficult since it's just a couple of registry entries.
The other one is more difficult since it also includes files.
So just to help a little, a cab file for the registry stuff in the phone.zip
Actually not that difficult
When comparing the old and new files, I noticed that just the RGU file is different.
Since this is the file with registry settings, I made a quick cab for it.
So not to replace the previous HTC Manager install or anything like that, just to corrent the registry entries.
ps. This and the previous file are not made/reviewed/anything by Ranju, but I've just given them him (her?) name to avoid confusion.

Build my first Rom
I've this ROM kitchen few days back from one of my friends and was simply amazed when I build my first rom.
This is as easy!
Thanks ranju, keep up good work!
Im looking for a cab file with only the files and registry entries for ArcSoft MMS 3_5_1_17. Also I keep getting the Customer Feedback thing launching. Where all do i need to remove the ceipui.exe. I delete the exe and the entries in default.hv. I have also removed them from 1f1aca24-d942-464a-9281-10567741499c.rgu
I would also like to know if someone can help me out with a cab for the latest Midlet manager out there.
Thanks ahead of time.
For midlet manager try with this cab: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286604

.rgu is pretty much guarenteed if it's in the SYS or OEM folder, as long as there's no options.xls file in the folder with it ( and there's a .dsm file with it with the same guid).
As for the provxml, I haven't figured out what fires it off...
so im not the only one having trouble with this new bild and MMS..I think the last MuN rom is better more stable
Im trying to make a cab file from diamond packages...but how can I do that?
in manila packages folder there are some file without extension (i.e. 0a55fae4_manila, etc) and with these files i dont know how to act...
nobody knows?
