So i'm basically holding off on flashing any new rom because I'm afraid of losing voice commander that came preloaded on my dopod818pro. Since CID unlocking my devices requires me to overwrite my current ROM and with no way to backup my current ROM without CID unlocking, I'm very iffy about reflashing.
I've noticed that other ROMs have voice dial or some other type of voice recognition software reploaded. Does anyone know if Cyberon Voice Commander is preloaded on the latest official dopod 818pro ROM? ie. the ones found here:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Prophet/Shipped_Complete_Updates/Dopod
Thanks!
Just uploaded to the newest Dopod rom on my Prophet and YES it has voice control software.
Cool! Thanks for the update! Is it "voice commander" or "voice speed dial"?

I am having a lot of trouble getting A2dp to work with my ht820.
I have the correct ROM AKU2
done registry changes with regedit
unlocked the phone with sdaunlock
I have copied the three files to the windows directory on phone
executed the Tor_A2DP.cab file from file manager on phone
I am stuck with the "import or modify A2DP related registry values with MobileRegistryEditor.
How do I import these values? I have been reading for days and unable to make the changes manually that will work.
I tried the A2Dp_hack file that is supposed to make the value changes, it says it is will not install.
Perhaps you have security settings on your phone?
There are many ways to import *.reg files... The simplest method it to use Resco Explorer with the registry editor option, here you just install the app and tap the *.reg file and it will be imported into your registry..
A2DP hack and cingulars rom
thanks for response!
I have made the registry changes by hand (not bad). But I have a few questions.
I just got the phone from cingular. Has the same rom as the latest on the HTC site.
I did not load the I-mate rom , i assume that is what i need?
The a2dp hack is not compatiable with the cingular rom?
I tried to load the i-mate software and the phone stops after about 10 seconds and gives error message, so I assume the phone is locked?
Is there a way we can unlock these phones with software available publicly or do I need to call Cingular to unlock?
Thanks for the help!!!!
I'm not sure about this locked business, why don't you just do a search for this. This forum is almost complete... Good luck..

Did you even read my post? LOL

I am just replying to this question... and again I state, there is some way to unlock these phones with software but YOU have to look for it.... I don't play with ROMs, so I cannot help you further, I am just into A2DP...
Sorry to amuse you..
I am trying to install nghianga's rom, but anytime the installation ends normal (seems to), but the S200 only ends up in bootloader mode and whatever I try, it doesn't change. I have read a few posts about this problem, but I did't find any solution.
I know that I am not an experienced Prophet user, but I would like to have some installation help with this. Also I can't find the NB_Update_nghianga rom, maybe it works better with this one.
thx
The same for me.... please can help us?
You MUST downgrade to a relevant v2.2 ROM first, then upgrade
JD
Sorry JD, I tried this too, no success!
Maybe try going back to a 2.2 and try then to install smart1's Excellent clean rom and see if this works, then think about the other rom?
JD
Thanks JD. I managed to install smart1 clean rom, bt this has some problems for me. I posted a message a few minutes ago in the large wm6 thread.
This is my post:
I installed this rom, since it is the only wm6 rom that I can install. I installed this rom starting from a factory released 2.20 rom. Here are a few problems.
1) error message that timewizard.exe can't be started, i csan't find any relation pointing to this app
2) IRDA (infrared) does not work, same problem as in the aku 3.3.b1 jesterz rom
3) Photocontacts pro does not work properly
4) I can add my BT headset, bt it doesn;t work with my phone
5) SMS backp doesn't work ( also not in aku 3.3 b1)
6) a number of other apps don't work (calendar+ for instance).
7) Sync with outlook doesn't work, even more after my first try to sync, all contacts, phone history and speed dial gone!
Do we have to wait for a better rom or has anyone found soltions?
Don't forget this is a WM6 file, there will be a lot of programs that do not run correctly, this is not a problem of the rom, but more a problem of the software you are trying to install. Try to play with the ROM clean after a hard reset and install a little at a time

3) when I tried to add a number in speed dial I receive a message that there is not enough memory available!
4) etc.
thx anyway for your response
Lets say I have two G3 version, CID unlocked Wizards. Call them W1 and W2.
I installed WM6 (X-plorer 1.1) and all software I need on one of them (W1). Everything is fine.
W2 is still stock TMobile WM5 device.
1. If I make full SPB Backup image of W1, can I then take that image and install it on W2, making it WM6 device ? If not ....
2. Can I upgrade W2 to be WM6 device and then apply image from W1 ? If not ... what would you suggest.
Basically idea is to make copy of W1 and move it to W2. I dont want to install software and tweaks on both devices
Any suggestions ?

I would say, flashing the secound W2 and then restoring the backup of W1 would be the safer way. But for me no backup worked perfectly although it has been the same device with the same OS. Sometime active sync didn´t function anymore - the other time messaging was not able.
Give it a try. When you just flash W2 - you get WM6.
And when restoring is worse - you make a hardreset and install.
It´s hard work but it will work.
Btw - wait on Xplore 2.0 before startin!!

I have created a backup of my WM5 using SPB-Backup, then proceeded to load WM6, and ran the backup. Everything seemed to transfer over alright

So you initially had WM5 and SPB Backup image was for WM5, right ? Then you upgraded to WM6 and then run backup ...
1. did you end up having WM6 or WM5 ?
2. That was on the same device, right ?

I'm surprised (and question whether) this worked. WM5 and WM6 use different PIM databases. I did something similar the first time I moved to WM6 and found it completely hosed up where outlook couldn't find the database and I couldn't get sms or anything.
From what I've read, and my own experieince, you should not restore a full backup (like from spb backup) from one type of rom to another.
As for the OP question, spb backup (and similar) do not copy the actual rom. So to do this, you'd have to install XPlore 1.1 onto both, configure the one, then backup and restore onto the other. Even then, I'm not sure if thats a great idea, but it should work.
That's not a typo - I have the unofficial WM6 ROM image that was floating around a few months ago and now Palm has officially released the WM6 ROM - I am wondering if it is worth the time and trouble to reinstall all my apps etc?
https://ws.palm.com/SupportDownload/app?service=external/Home&sp=20
I did it. Differences i found:
- better reception (newer firmware)
- about 2 mb less of programm memory
- Windows Live not included by default
The memory loss comes from the fact that the extendedROM files, carrierDb and cappackage are located in the windows root directory and not in the hidden extended ROM. You can delete them but they reappear after a soft reset.
Otherwise the new ROM is very stable and not slower than the previously installed Vodafone ROM.
Treo telstra can up grade this rom ?
Can this rom be upgrade to the telstra Palm treo 750 .
Follow the link and put down the serial numbers of the phone then it let me download
Is it mean Ok to install ? Please advised
It is saying that my serial number is not valid.
I have a US AT&T 750 running TREO-1.13-ATT.
Now that this is official on the International site, how do I get the image and will it work without unlocking my phone?
Sorry... should have looked before I lept. I found my answer immediately in the updating forum.

Hi all, I am about to upgrade my fathers Touch Pro (EU version) from the stock WM 6.1 Fr to Taels 6.5 version.
Nevertheless I need help on 3 very important questions, and that is why I come to you.
I have already installed the HSLP so that part is done, and I have used PIM backup for the contacts, sms, calendar, email and logs.
1) So the question is, will a PIM backup done in WM6.1 be able to restore everything in WM6.5 or will there be some incompatibility issues?
2) As you might know TAEL ROM is an English ROM, but the Touch Pro has an AZERTY keyboard. Is there a way to correctly map ALL the hardware keys on the phone? If yes, how?
3) Finally, if my father does not like the phone the way it is, can I go to the HTC website and download the latest official WM6.1 ROM for the phone and just flash it even with the HSPL on. I don't really need to remove it as it is not in the guarantee any more, but I would like to know if I need to do something to be able to flash the old ROM in.
Thank you all for your help.
Please urgent answers, as I am supposed to do everything today.
1. In my experience, pim back up could be buggy with 6.5. It's been a while since I used it (probably 1.5 yrs), but I highly recommend backing up in multiple ways. Do the pimbackup, also just copy pim.vol to the sd card (that's the method I use). If you have sk tools, use it to backup the pim info. You can also install myphone (or just windows live) and back it up that way. Seriously, you can't have too many backups, in case of a snafu.
To restore pim.vol, right after the flash copy it (don't move it, copy it) with total commander back to the device root and then immediately do a soft reset. I don't know why, but sometimes it doesn't update properly if you screw around for a while before resetting the device. Or, just restore with pimbackup. It will probably be slow.
2. Dunno.
3. Yes, you can flash whatever you want with hard spl. Don't bother over-writing it with the stock spl if you decide to go back to stock (unless it's for warranty reasons).
Hi Farmer Ted, thanks for your responses.
I've done the procedure yesterday and I can answer my questions if anyone has them too.
1) So regarding the first one, PIM backup will recover all your contacts, logs, mms and sms. I have had an error when it came to e-mail, but you can configure that anyway and through imap4 you should not loose any.
2) The second response was given by some people already on XDA, and that is to go to the regedit of the phone. Thankfully tael had one already pre-installed and now I'll just copy paste what I've found:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\CurLang
change the value in hex 40C
Then save the changes and reboot the phone.
Thankfully all the fn keys work as intended.
PS: The software keyboard will not change unless you install a different one on it.
Regarding my last question, I still did not fully understand the answer. If I go to HTC, download the latest official ROM for the phone, can I flash it straight away, even though I have HSPL 1.9 olex in the phone?
Note: I don't need to remove it for warranty reasons, but I don't want to brick the phone by having it on when installing the official WM6.1 release.
Thanks for all your help so far.
Just so you know, I have flashed the stock ROM after I downloaded it from the HTC support site and have not experienced any issues without having to flash stock spl
Thank you very much (+1 thank), this information was very useful to me.
