I am having a lot of trouble getting A2dp to work with my ht820.
I have the correct ROM AKU2
done registry changes with regedit
unlocked the phone with sdaunlock
I have copied the three files to the windows directory on phone
executed the Tor_A2DP.cab file from file manager on phone
I am stuck with the "import or modify A2DP related registry values with MobileRegistryEditor.
How do I import these values? I have been reading for days and unable to make the changes manually that will work.
I tried the A2Dp_hack file that is supposed to make the value changes, it says it is will not install.
Perhaps you have security settings on your phone?
There are many ways to import *.reg files... The simplest method it to use Resco Explorer with the registry editor option, here you just install the app and tap the *.reg file and it will be imported into your registry..
A2DP hack and cingulars rom
thanks for response!
I have made the registry changes by hand (not bad). But I have a few questions.
I just got the phone from cingular. Has the same rom as the latest on the HTC site.
I did not load the I-mate rom , i assume that is what i need?
The a2dp hack is not compatiable with the cingular rom?
I tried to load the i-mate software and the phone stops after about 10 seconds and gives error message, so I assume the phone is locked?
Is there a way we can unlock these phones with software available publicly or do I need to call Cingular to unlock?
Thanks for the help!!!!
I'm not sure about this locked business, why don't you just do a search for this. This forum is almost complete... Good luck..

this afternoon i found an update on the swedish qtek site.
http://www.qtek.se/default.asp?nc=4484&id=127&element=0
wonder if it could be used by english speaking users? it says WWE, so i guess it is in english?
i'm uploading the unpacked installation folder to FTP now. maybe someone who knows his thing, could magic a .bat file with the correct checksum to change the carrier and language? [pinoo? ;-)]
the file is called: MA_Qtek(BrPt)_10600_116_10500_SHIP.zip
Hi there..
I will take a look... But my device is with PocketPcTechs at the moment... Getting 128MB RAM ... WOOOOOOOOOOOT

has anybody yet found out what the passwords for the rom files are?
btw, have the last ones (the imate rom for example) been cracked or did anyone blurt out the right keys?

A bad traduction :
Click on the links below in order to update your Qtek S100. Follows installationsguiden careful in order to few a correct updating.
ROM 1.06.116WWE
(updating from ROM 1.03.148WWE to ROM 1.06.116WWE)
The updating is only for Swedish sold Qtek S100 with software version 1.03.148WWE. In order to check which version you have pressures Start>Settings>System>Device information, you find the information on ExtROM version. If you try to update with another version of software can the to damage your Qtek S100.
The updating ROM 1.06.116WWE contains:
GSM-radio software
MMS client (2.0.0.20)
Caller IDS
Phone PAD Swedish T9
Updated Blåtandsmjukvara
Installationsguide ROM 1.06.116
actually it was pretty clear that qtek only offers their support to their respective customers. Nevertheless it should be quite possible to gain advantages out of an alien fw ;-)
...so it could not be used for I-mate JAM and other models.... If someone has updated the firmware pls report the "improvements"...
Regards,
Primoz
Yes and please send us (or push it on the FTP) the content of ExtROM.

Anyone upgraded yet?
Hi, has anybody yet tried out the new QTEK ROM 1.06? If so, could you be so kind to make a ROM image and put it onto the ftp? Guess that'll be way easier than finding out some passwords to change the update-files?
thank you!
Why couldnt this be installed on non-swedish qtek s100?
Seems like an normal english rom-update
Wonder what it is with the bluetooth.
Cause the stack that is installed now is way to slow.
We need the passwords so xda3nbftool can be used to change operator id. Then we get past the Country id error...
So if anybody know the passwords that would be nice...
it cant be used out-of-the-box because the upgrade tools checks for your device-id, the carrier-id (which must be the one of qtek), the language (which, as you've said would fit) and the rom versions.
Thus, at least the carrier id would be different which is enough for the upgrade prog to abort. So there are 2 work-arounds:
1.) using xda3nbf-tool which requires the rom-passwords to decode the rom, change the parameters which are checked and re-encode the rom. Unfortunately anybody knows the passwords yet
2.) do a rom backup of a succesfully upgraded qtek-device with the bootloader-method which gives you *one* file that contains all the radio, the ext-rom and the os rom. This file needs to be modified by a hex-editor (which actually means to replace the first 412 bytes from the qtek-backup with the first byte of your own backup) --> restore the edited file et voilà: it should work. Unfortunatly anybody has posted such a backup yet...
conclusion:
way 2) is easier (at least we dont need any passkeys) nevertheless we still need that backup...
regards,
André
sorry, my upload was broken... should be ok now. the file is called MA_Qtek(BrPt)_10600_116_10500_SHIP.zip and you can find it in the Magician folder on the xda-ftp. it's basically just the unpacked installer.
could anybody tell me how to write a proper .bat file, like the one pinoo did for the i-mate rom? i suppose i need to change the 0x20040522... numbers to stop the installer giving the "invalid checksum" error?
...and reading the last post these numbers seems to be the passwords Guest was talking about...
any chance of getting them?
Be careful with this ROM. I tried to install it and now my Compact is dead . I can't reflash it anymore even from SD card. Tried everything and now it is in service-center. They are triing to fix it but still with no success ((
BTW you can install Radio ROM without any passwords and xda3nbf. Just remove all other .nbf files from directory and run update - and everything is OK without any mistakes. Problems appears after other upgrades (nb and mk_).

i've heard that WM2003 in himalaya gadget can be uprade to WM2005, it's very interesting and i going to try the uprade, but i have some question about the upgrade, my question is:
1. what's the risk during upgrading? could my device occuring some permanent error?
2. what's the consequence of this? will my device working slower? or working faster?
3. if i don't satisfy with the WM2005 can i downgrade back to the WM2003 OS?
please help me by answering my question
Response:
1. the device may fail, but you can restart the whole process entering the device in bootloader mode and upgrading (happen to me once)
2.Your device will work Faster but sometimes (at boot sequence) will be slower.
that's the price you have to pay. Other thing is there is no MMS in WM5 (dont work for me) and some camera issues, that can be fixed. But is more eye-candy than the WM2003 or 2003SE.
3. If you aint satisfied you can go back to 2003SE just putting the device in bootloader mode and then making the upgrade using a WM2003 ROM (the nbf file)
One thing: Tofclock and Buzz (thanks guys!) are working hard to bring us one stable, better and faster WM5 ROM, so be quiet and wait like me
Hi guys,
I ve also heard that after you upgrade to Wm 5.0 the phone vibratin wont work, is that true?
what else then?
Thanks
Hi dickyw,
my vibration on my Himalaya works perfect...
Hi Guys,
Can anyone help another dumb newbie?
I upgraded my Himalaya to W2k5 OK from the O2 exe file, but I now want to downgrade to 2003 SE.
The folder I am trying to use to downgrade is WindowsMobile2003SE_XDA2_2.20.00CHS-translated.zip
Himaupgradeut.exe gives:- Error 120 Country ID error 1-1-8-n-1
HimaupgradeUt_noid.exe gives:- Error 103 ROM image file not found
XDA image tool gives me:-Unsupported file format error for NK.nbf
I have:-
Boot loader 1.06
CE image 1.72.00
Extended image 1.72.181
Radio image 1.17.00
Am I using the wrong tools, the wrong ROM or an incorrect procedure? I'm doing this for a friend so it's getting very embarassing. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks, Mike
Another issue to aware of when upgrading to WM5 is that you need to also upgrade to Activesync 4.1 as 3.8 won't work any more. Given that AS can be very tempremental it may take some time to get the sync link back up and working to your satisfaction so if your data is cruitial to your work then backup, backup, backup and upgrade when you have a few days free to dedicate to ironing out any wrinkles.
Then also xbackup doesn't work in WM5 so you are left with options like buying the latest Sprint backup soiftware (now WM5 compatible) or relying upon your PC Outlook to be your "backup data" (NB I use the Outlook free "backup" util to back up my pst files on exiting Outlook as double insurance).
Regards - Mallow1
PS I upgraded and v glad I did. Had a few AS issues but eventuall got there (took a lot of reading of forums and As battles, but worth it in the end)
cnimike,
One assumes that you have unzipped the zip file first before trying to reflash? If not try that (say use winzip). Also try reading the wiki as a guide to what to do (seee link attop left of page).
You are also best o use the HimaupgradeUt_noid.exe as at least it avoids the first error (esle you'll have to edit the flash files first and recompile them which is straight forward but if you are a noobie it's a step that can be avoided by using the "...noid.exe") and if you haven't unzipped the said file doing that may well sort out your second error.
Get back to me if you need more help.

I would suggest getting a hold of Sin's merged version (details in signature) or XDA2JoJo's version. Simply flash the ROM and you are there. Elsewhere, SIN has set out the steps in the most detailed fashion you are going to see outside a software manufacturer's manual.
I have searched read and looked all over the board.
The problem very specific.
I have a stock MDA Compact with the T-Mobile Software installed.
I want to convert the phone to its O2 equivalent with all the bells and whistles.
Whats the best way to go about this?
Is there a UK O2 rom i can simply upgrade the unit with?
What extended Rom software do i install?
Thanks.
Backup your important data, hard reset your phone, and let the phone have its OS reinstalled. As you just finished the security (pin) setup page, soft reset your device (e.g. when it pop up a window saying that it will install etc etc software).
Get the O2 ROM from the xda-dev ftp, and install everything in the Exetended ROM, and you should have your O2 eqv.

I got the files from the ftp yes. Unfortunately the Extended rom is read only, how do i edit the attributes?
i can also install from an SD card, but i want to have these files permanently in the ext rom.
thanks again Hanmin
You should execute the O2 cabs from your sd-card. Or permanently flash you rom with the O2 rom to get them in your ext-rom. The ext-rom is read only & can only be written by flashing your rom or turning it into BIG Storage. To flash your rom to O2 you need MAUgradeUT_noid & the description from http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade
Regards, M
Doh, of course how could i forget, the very definition of ROM, read only.
Well i executed the Autorun from the SD Card, but its installed all the T-Mobile stuff again, (which still resides on the ROM).
I would execute the cabs individually from the sd but im not sure which are meant to be installed for my network.
After a few errors running the upgrade previously your instructions have now worked.
albeit i had to put the phone in bootloader mode after step 5 and before step 6

How do i go about this? ( ie Keep the ext_rom )
I gather its the same as flashing a big storage ROM to the phone excepts the nbf will have the O2 files i want instead?
Thank you all for your time

It's only possible if you find a dumped rom or a shipped-rom which is the version as the one you had before. Maybe your provider has a shipped-rom on its web-site? Or take a look at the ftp and maybe you're lucky to find one. If you find a shipped-rom it's easy, connect via usb & start the exe file. If you've got a dumped rom you need to change the header of the downloaded with your own device's header, write everything to sd & have the bootloader update the rom.

The have the autorun starting files on sd, you need to edit it a little. It got hard-coded path & filenames and some instructions to prevent userinput (thus locking the keys & keyboard).

Now you got me puzzled. Do you want the O2 CE-rom or just the ext-rom & keep the TMO network settings? Cause the CE-rom isn't much different for all providers, it's the ext-rom that does the customizing & changes the network settings.
So if you want an O2 ext-rom with TMO network settings I suggest you first write down your TMO settings for gprs, voicemail, mms & sms & then flash it to O2. You might even try to update the ext-rom only. It's possible to update to radio by supplying the radio.nbf only to the romupdateso I think it's possible to update the ext-rom by itself too. Can't remember the nbf name, but nk.nbf is your CE-rom & that makes only one left, isn't it.
You can use WinCECabmanager (10 trial executions) to see what's in all those cab-files.
Good luck to all of you, M
I think frantyk meant that he wants to keep the original t-mobile (mda compact) ROM while installing the customization (ext rom), such that the 'OS' is relatively the same while having O2 stuff in it.
Anyway, I think if you downloaded the correct O2 ext rom, you can install everything one-by-one manually, it shouldn't give any conflict. I'm not sure why, when you run Autorun, it install t-mobile stuff, probably the autorun is pointing to the ext rom.
You can unlock the the wizard ext rom unlocking cab, delete everything in your ext rom (MAKE A BACKUP FIRST), and copy the O2 stuff in. You should able to 'lock' the ext rom back in place. Then hard reset your device, you should have everything, including O2 stuff installed. I unlocked my ext rom before, but I can't remember if this is the one I used. --- IMPORTANT --- I've unlocked my ext rom with this cab before, but my device is a HTC Charmer, which is very compatible with Wizard. I'm NOT SURE IF IT WORKS ON MAGICIAN. You may want to look around the forum to find a ext unlocker for Magician, just to be safe.
The Magician ext-rom can't be unlocked, only flashed or turned into BIG Storage. Though I think you can flash the ext-rom only, the safest way it to flash the whole rom with an O2 shipped-rom. This will be the only way to get the correct ext-rom being executed after a hard-reset. Indeed the autorun contains a path & is unusable from sd without changes.
BTW not many people want the O2 stuff, I guess it's about network settings only. Which are on the web too, can't remember where :-(
M
What i want is the Standard CE software (ie no branding what so ever) which i think i have achieved with in flashing the phone with Shipped ROM WWE_11300_550_11200 - although it has the Qtek boot logo.
Im also using some of the Cabs from Extended Rom O2Mini_WWE_1.11.922
Why does this Ext_Rom not have and network auto config for O2 UK? Where can i get and Auto config cab for UK O2?
I want to use the phone mainly with an O2 Sim card, so i need al the O2 settings for GPRS and that, 2nd priority is having the T-Mobile GPRS settings cab for when i occasionally change chips but this is less essential that the O2 settings.
What does WWE stand for? My guess was XXEuropean?
Thanks
OK, unbranded CE is either the mentioned QTEK or any BIG Storage rom. Don't worry about the splash that can changed very easily.
WWE means World Wide English.
The network settings can be found here http://www.cctvsafe.com/support/phone_settings.htm
Cheers, M

I was looking at installing WM6 today....
Which file is the best/most stable at the moment there are many threads with many updates etc..
What do I gain by upgrading to WM6..
I am sure I am not the only one to ask this question
I to have an xda exec looking to install WM6 it is an old one from o2 since i only hear new ones can have WM6. So please help me to obatin the right file or rom as people have called it, i have done a search and found a few things related to WM6 but not sure whats stable and right to use before bricking my xda exec.

Hi there
If the instructions are followed as written, it would be quite hard to brick your device.
As a start you could try Jwright's WM6 rom version 2.02.02, works great for me & I don't have any wifi bug (I use wifi a lot).
I say it's a good starting point as it is an executable upgrade (make sure to d/l the correct one for your device) just like the OFFICIAL roms, only it installs WM6 instead of WM5.
Download that one and give it a go.
That rom is very simple to install as it is a single executable file, with the whole package contained within.
All I did was
D/L the ROM for my device (jwrights 2.02.02, locate it in the forum).
Unrar it somewhere to my pc.
Put device into bootloader mode (power, backlight & reset) a screen with no backlight appears with the words serial vx.xx (x.xx being your version of the bootloader) you may need a torch to see it.
Connect device via usb.
Execute upgrade (file that you unrared to pc)
Once finished (about 20mins or so), unplug device & perform a hard reset (both softkeys & reset until the white option screen appears) and select "Restore" from the options. I believe it's 0 (zero).
This also upgrades your radio rom to the latest V1.15.
Happy bricking!
OOPS I mean upgrading.

Using a registry editor, set the following values:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies]
"00001017"=dword:00000090
"00001005"=dword:00000028
"00001001"=dword:00000001
"0000101b"=dword:00000001
"0000101a"=dword:00000001
That should fix it... If the registry editor gives you an error, or you'd rather not use a registry editor, I can whip up a cab/program to do it.
Hm .... I tried that (with the old regeditSTG; but is not working very smooth) but still the same problem. I will try and install another regeditor, to see if that works ... Txs for quick follow up.
I tried it another time, but values seem to be correct now. Still have the application lock issue ... Would you mind making a cab, just to make sure ... ?

Okay... I'll have a look at other things that could be set... What's the exact error it gives?
Unfortunately it is the Dutch version (that one arrived one week earlier here than the UK version), but after installing the software (which I used on my HD (with Dutty's Leo R7 and ALL earlier versions) and I need it to get my server ready for my work exchange server), it says (translated):
The file cannot be opened. It is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of the components cannot be found. U have to install it again or repair it if the problem persists.

I think that's an issue with the cab/software rather than the certificates... Out of interest, what application is it?
If that would be true, I REALLY have a problem. It is not a 'known' software, I guess. It has been prepared by my company and I have to install it first before I can use our Exchange Server (through Domain Enroll). It is call gprschange.exe
It worked on all former HD Roms and on the XPeria. I will try to set up Exchange server without it. Hopefully it will work .... Will let you know ...
It is not working now ... I cannot connect to Exchange server ... I assume it cannot have anything to do with the 'Dutch' version ? That would be strange, right ? But I cannot understand it worked on all the HD ROM versions, and here it is not working .... And I was so happy I got the HD2 today and now it is not working (for me at least) ...
i don't know if you already have solved the problem, but in some cases, when a cab refuses to install on my tp2, i open it with the wince cab manager on the desktop, remove the setup.dll and repack it again. It might not make any sense at all, but at least you can try it to rule it out.
May be something related to old .net 2?
or have you updated to 3.5 already?
