3.5 ROM - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 Software Upgrading

Though I might start a new thread for this 3.5 ROM if thats not too naughty
JD
What do we know about it so far and is there an upload that isn't corrupt yet?

Dear Prophet users.
Dont flash Helmi_c 3.5 ROMs because they composed without trying on real device.
Helmi_c has Universal. And his Uni 3.5 version has some glitches.
Helmi's prophet versions boot only to 1 splash and thats all.
I'm trying to compose my own version and my version booting to 2 splash.
I think that i missed something in initialization files.
If anyone can help me, this will be great.
Thank you all.

I think Jesterz or LVSW are your contacts here, but I havn't heard from LVSW for some time, jesterz has done a great job so far on 3.3 clean, anyone else who can help here?

We a lost LVSW he is buy Trinity.

well, I dont find difficulty, so far so good, thats includin my crossbow rom for universal... and so does my BA (Xdaiis), Himalaya project and also Htc scooter (Mitac Mio), offcourse every rom that built with hacked version/method has some bug, thats why we call it beta, this could happen due the drivers availability limitation, and that also happens to original shipped rom right? lol..
and you? what u did? are u usefull?

thanks helmi for your time.

Hi Jesterz
Great news.....
Might there be a new 3.3 b2 with a few fixes, mainly for me the dissapearing imap mail accounts is a real pain, usb charging second, but there is a way around that one for now, also the gps is a useful addition
Great work once again

Hi Jesterz
The gps I only mentioned as I was playing around with the midlet manager and google maps today, and wondered if it was necessary to use a gps unit with the midlet manager? If not dont worry.
One thing I did notice over Christmas while using the 3.2 clean version, My tomtom software locked up a few times (which it had never done before) I havn't had a chance to try it yet with your 3.3 since installing it
FYI
JD

Helmi_c
Excuse me man, but i think that you can describe the booting process sequence. And one more question: if i make version, that boot to 2 splash, but dont show welcome screen, thats told about that i missed something in initialization files. What are you thinking about that, could you help me?

Jesterz
Here is a possibility......I am sure I soft reset this device yesterday and the email accounts stayed (not definate though) then I installed some other software, I would guess (purely a guess) that possibly some memory is being overwritten by me installing other software on the device that is being used by the system/email account info as it is only partly dissapearing?
Possible or not possible?

Can you explain what you mean by the midlet manager using GPS? Isn't this more a function of the java app calling for the right port?

So, which ROM should we continue to develope with ?
AKU 3.3 ? or WM6 ?
Hi Jesterz
Thats not an easy one, I tried the WM6 rom, and it worked but with the mentioned bugs, but it took all of my available ram, and kept coming up with memery shortage errors, does WM6 need more memory for it to operate, and will it ever have enough on a prophet?
JD
WM6!!!!!!
Im test the PDAVIET and the only big problem is the charge item.
[]s FerSoft
I say continue with AKU3.3 it's the one with less bugs...
yeah me too, lets go on with Aku 3.3
Personally I think that we should continue with WM6. More 3rd party applications will be developed for it in the long run, and it makes sense to future proof our Prophets.
WM6 please. Since the official wm6 has been released, why we need the AKU3.3? I really like the update option in WM6. And a bounch of other features in WM6 is also cool.

I think aku 3.3 needs just a bit more tweaking and that should come first, right?
You're probably closer to another release as well...
Sorry, I do not know why I got triple post here.....
WM6 Please Please Please
I loved WM6 only probs were
reset on return from standby (obex fix) only when not plugged in mains or usb
charging/batt status doesnt work after return from standby
Sometimes looses BT and Wifi information
I think the first two are linked. The device can only come out of standby if the obex dll registry is removed or renamed. maybe if the obex thing was fixed the charging might continue to work!!!
Excellent work though Jesterz - I use your 2.2r1 in production. Rock Solid and I have even kept the Jesterz Splash Screen

It is useless to play around with ext rom only. The core problems like IR malfunctioned, USB charging unstable that need to be fixed.

I think it too, but you can't force people to buy prophets so they could turn their heads our way!
WM6 is my choice.
I think it will take a long time to stabilise wm6 rom but eventually we will reap the rewards as it is the future.
WM6 for me. Let's prepare our Prophets for the future.
I think we should go for WM6! This is the feature!
Better go for WM6!!! Go Jesterz Go!

is it really worth it?

Hi all,
Ive just got myself a tmobile wizard. ive been looking all through the wm6 pages and was just wondering is it worth me updating my wm5 to wm6. im sure all the new users would like to know this (is there speed improvements etc) and is there a rom that is stable and 99% working? as ive had alot of problems in the past when updating my blueangel to wm5
apologies if these are stupid questions
IMO, there's not enough extra in WM6 to justify the little problems it has. I'd suggest a stable WM5 like Farias 3.3
farias 3.3 is awsome , all of the wm6 roms have issues but i am using the clean wm6 from faria thats in the rom kitchen and it seems just as stable as the wm5 3.3

I would 2nd that!!! Now that we have the Ir button working 100%, i dont think there is other problems
So far so good here....
I know it's kinda aging now but I have been running NotTooSmart's Vanilla Rom for a while now and I have no issues whatsoever. I use my device constantly all day every day and though there was some trick to getting it to work just how I wanted I was comfortable enough to put the same ROM on my wife's Wizard as well (If you only knew how big of a step this was.... god forbid something goes wrong there I will never hear the end of it) .
Overall, here is the list of things that I do with rom if you are contemplating using it yourself and want to know if it will work for you.
Exchange activesync (heavy use)
Pocket IE
AIM 2.0 for PPC (osed once or twice)
Watching movies with TCPMP
( SEE TCPMP NOTES BELOW )
I use WMP as my only MP3 player with a couple of SD cards
WIFI works fine
Bluetooth headset with my HT850 works fine
Phone works okay. I mean, nothing is perfect and I do miss a call on occasion but so far it's acceptable. I have found, despite my previous posts, that 2.19 UK actually is more reliable. 2.25 US is better for data in my area but 2.19 UK causes me to miss a lot less calls.
I use internet radio via TCPMP at the gym every day reliably.
Sirius Sat Radio via SiriusWM5 works great although on occasion I do get the odd program error - NOTE: happens in WM5 too.
I DO NOT OVERCLOCK AT ALL as I really have no need for it.
Ewallet latest release works great
Listpro works great
I use a whole bunch of networking apps (tracert, pocket ping, etc...) from way back in the WM2003 days that still work just fine on WM6.
Terminal services works (though most people will not use this).
TCPMP NOTE: In order to do internet radio and most video you will need to DL and install the WMV9 codecs. This is a known issue and can be found by searching through back posts here in the WM6 forum.
Overall, I say yeah, it's worth it. It's more of an evolutionary upgrade than anything but it's a "nice to have". Plus, HTML email is real nice if you have EXCH 2007.
ok thanks all for the help!

If you are wanting to give WM6 a go, then the Faria 3.3 rom is not the correct one. That is a WM5 rom.
The Faria Clean / Vanilla is the WM6 one. You have to download the entire ROM Kitchen, but there is a flash rom directory that has a default rom already built (or you can go through the build process to add and remove the stuff you want / don't want.
The link for the Faria WM6 is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303406 (same as given above, but that is NOT the AKU 3.3 Faria ROM)
If you really want Faria AKU 3.3 (again, its a stable WM5 ROM) then its here:

And then use this link to step you through flashing...

sometimes you can get around the 90 minute wait by just putting http://anonym.to/? infront of the URL. Doesn't always work but its worth a try.

I know I'm coming in late to the thread, but I think in general I would be a bit more cautious. The leap from a stock rom to a (necessarily) custom WM6 rom, and then to a rom kitchen is better taken in baby steps in my opinion. In my own view, objectively I don't see any difference in my day to day usage of my wizard from when I was running WM5. In fact, I think because I've become obsessed with tinkering with it, I spend more time trying out different odds and ends, tweaking and breaking and fixing things than I do using it!
If you are primarily interested in USING you Wizard, I would start with a small step to say the Faria 3.3 WM5 rom. Learn to unlock, and flash, load your programs again, etc. Then once that's digested move up to WM6 if you really feel the itch, then try a rom kitchen as a final step.
Whatever you do, Keep it Fun!
Very good points, but unfortunately, Faria did not release his "Vanilla" as a seperate ROM but instead with the entire kitchen (which I agree could be dangerous for someone new). My point was you can use that Vanilla rom by downloading the entire kitchen, but just going to the falshrom directory and flashing what came with it as the default (I understand its basically what we were running in beta which is a very nice ROM). It is a very good WM6 rom with no "cooking" required.
I've thought about making a couple of these Faria Vanilla's up and posting them (with Faria's permission) for those that only want the rom and not the entire kitchen (or the temptation that comes with it).
i used to tinker my blueangel so much, but the wm5 roms just didnt work right. with this rom from the kitchen is it just a 'stock' one? will it just have the programs my tmobile rom has? as im happy with my tmobile rom but i just want to have wm6. i dont need all the tweaking tools as long as it works

No, its a "Vanilla" or "Clean" rom (ie: pretty much stripped down to the core). So you then add back to it just what you want.
If you want a full featured WM6, then look at Faria's "the real thing" but there are issues with that one so you have to dig through the huge thread for fixes (so I don't recommend it). If you want something that feels like a "stock" rom, then do the Faria AKU 3.3 (again, its WM5, but its better than the stock ones IMO).
I like the Vanilla roms though as you just put on it what you want. But not everyone likes that.
ive unlocked and my pda is ready for wm6. what file do i run from the kitchen folder to start the update?

I think that's a great idea. Even if you put in all his currently available options, it is still more of a vanilla rom. Maybe with and without Voice Command, as that seems to be a make or break issue for folks. But serve it up the way you like it!

Hi there...
Athena is no way similar to the Universal. WAaay different hardware...
same processor, same (for some universal's) DoC chip, but yeah, apart from that its different

Actually I tried that, DaVince & Midget_1990 are correct. I manage to built the ROM and succesfully port it in my Uni. Unfortunately it hang to Splash Screen and nothing happen. As a result I lost my Extended ROM (I am trying to revive it now).
I will try to re-install the ms_.nbf, I hope it will solve my problem. Can you suggest something to revive it?
Cheers mate..
Thank you for answering so soon. You are the best
Hang on a minute, what about DarkForce?
According to this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...ht=darkforce+athena+universal+rom#post1178773
... the much acclaimed DarkForce ROM is based on the Athena. I'm not sure if it is a Universal ROM with Athena applications and layout added, or an Athena ROM with Universal drivers added (I read both explanations which left me a bit confused).
I have tried nearly every WM6 ROM going and DarkForce was one of the most reliable, although it still had some bugs, so I would be interested to see if the new official Athena WM6 ROM that is due out now would help create a much more stable WM6 ROM for Universal.
you would need to port the XIP and drivers.
to recover your partitions use 'Task 28 55aa' from mtty, then flash new OS + Extrom.
Here's a Chinese ROM port from Trinity
http://blog.pdafans.com/?25433/action_viewspace_itemid_7127.html
Use this ROM as your base, with any ROM KITCHEN and SYS from Athena to rebuild the WWE yourselves, everyone can get the new OS5.2.1437 (Build 17944.0.3.1) on your Universal!
But I must mention, there still have some bugs in the new core.

Coming from Prophet to Universal!

Hey there !
Iam currently a user of a HTC Prophet which is a nice unit i think, but i need some bigger screen and thats why iam thinking about changing to this Universal..
I have gotten used to WM6 so my question is:
How stable is the Universal with WM6 ? Is there any isuess that i should be aware of and that haven't been fixed as to date?
Like with the prophet many are howing problems with settings and stuff getting lost after Software resets and A2DP isn't working very well yet.. Anything like that on the Universal ?
Thanks !
~D
I personally think WM6 on universe works great. Yes there are a few things that dont work but things that wont kill you. I have never lost any data after a soft reset. I think you will like it

Welcome to big boys toy
My own opinion: currently Ivans WM6 AKU 0.5 is most stable, functional ROM.
You may give also a try to PDAVIET ROM v2.11.13 PDAVIET CE OS 5.2.1908 Build 18508.0.7.0. This is aku 0.7 ROM. Very fast but may not be stable as Ivans ROM. Besides it has been here reported that if you have bootloader V2x (G4 devices) this ROM may not able to flash.

Improve graphics of OEM WM_6.0

Is it possible to port (or another suitable word) the new dlls that have improved the speed & graphics of cooked Diamond edition roms to OEM HTC WM6.0?
I am asking this because I need a reliable GPS & Arabic and the only way for them to work after so many flashes is to use the OEM HTC 1.81.415.4 with radio 1.27.12.32
So if it is possible, could one of the Chefs volunteer to do it ? even if for a reasonable fee.

Some of us like reverting back to one good old beloved cooked WM6 ROM.
But, when you play a movie on a WM6.1 new ROM, you get better performance as the drivers are cooked within.
Seems like even after installing your cab, video playback is not improved nor 3D gfx in games in comparison to the new ROMs.
Benchmarks do not count IMO, some of you believe in it and some don't.
Well, performance wise; nothing achieved.
Problem wise, none experienced as well.
In the end, useless on WM6.
I think it should be cooked.
If some kind chef cooks a new ROM based onthe latest WM6 build would be much appreciated
Reverted back to the Hyper Dragon III ROM.
