Big Trouble with USB :(

...first of all, my configuration:
G3 Wizard (i-mate branded)
- IPL/SPL 2.18
- radio 2.37.11
- NBD 7.4 touch
my phone works perfect all time but 1 hour ago I've connected it to my pc and SURPRISE: no power light and no charging....
O__o i've changed my usb cable but...nothing!
I've tried to connect to power usb cable (original shipped with my wiz...): nothing at all....PANIC!!!!
hard reset....no solution!
i've tried to connect cable very slowly and...now it's charging but....
...NO ACTIVESYNC!!!
i've tried to connect/disconnect some times and power charging is perfect but NO activesync...
ANY IDEA????

extra info: last efficient connection is via WM5torage to a customer notebook...and it works ok
now...also via WM5torage NO DATA TRANSFERT
in bootloader mode it connects...and i downgraded succesfully to last official wm5 italia i-mate rom.

did you try another computer? or the power adapter that plugs into the wall?

...it's a good question: too many times it's a joke...but not now.
i've tried in 3 computers...and the response is the same: NO connection, no "usb error"...nothing...only power charging....
If I put (with camera button and softreset) in bootloader mode it's ok...
"bip" on computer and USB un the bottom of the tuchscreen.
I've upgraded anothet time to NBD 7.4 but...
NO CONNECTION

This doesnt really belong in the wm6 forum i think. but maybe you also got a bad activesync on the computer, just start everything fresh again

...usb activesync now works!
after 7 (seven) downgrade and upgrade wm6 -> wm5 -> xda6 -> wm5 -> xda6r2 -> wm5 & so on....
ACTIVESYNC NOW WORKS!!!!
(obviously SAME computer, same Activesync 4.5, same USB port/cable)
i don't know why....but...

I had a problem like that once, I discovered it was my firewall blocking me out of active sync. I had outpost firewall, I disabled it and it connected perfectly

Yeah I use Cisco VPN for my work, and it screws up ActiveSync at times. Sometimes allows my phone to connect with no problem, and othertimes won't allow activesync to see my phone. Usually turning off the enhanced check box in the USB to PC connections settings will get around it, but not always.

USB port not working

I have similar problem.
My I-Mate K-Jam NOT connecting via Active SYNC.
and When i put my device in BOOTLOADER mode there is no appear "USB" below the screen
But only it is charging WITH WALL CHARGER and WITH COMPUTER when i attach to PC
And therefore i can not upgrade my device with usb cable. Can you help me?
HOW CAN I CHANGE MY ROM WITHOUT USB CABLE??
I have tried a few search on this forum but i couldnt find a solve about that.

i don't know if this one is a real solution...but...try this (no risk):
- first of all: try to change usb cable (with an old cable my kjam cannot connect....)
- try to plug usb cable SLOOOOOWLY: i've found that my kjam "communicates better" with my old pc il cable is "half-connected" (not tottally plugged in....
and...i don't know if it's possible to upgrade rom without usb connection....i'm sorry
(and sorry form my real poor english)

Similar problem
This may possibly not be the solution but I had a similar problem. I have an O2 xda mini s and after several days searching I discovered the problem. I opened up the xda and discovered that where the mini usb was soldered to the board, one of the solder points had come loose. The usb was not loose enough to stop the xda charging. By pressing down on the loose solder point the xda immediately showed up and syncing with my pc. I have now resoldered the usb back down and it works fine.
I hope that this is not the problem as it is damned fiddly soldering it back in place.

I opened the k-jam and renewed the point of usb port with solder machine.
Now it is well working. Charging and sync.
If you have similar problem so i think you can try this one.
But i think you must very carefully.
Solder machine must be very thin.

Have you been using some kind of holder for your wizard on your car?
I have seen several USB connectors with a bad attachment to the PCB because it has been used with car Holders that had the USB fixed.

i ve bought treo 750 sacond hand without equipement
i now have some treo data cables but they only charge palm but i cannot connect via Active Sync 4.5.
do i need additional software drivers to connect treo with PC.

ive tried with active sync 4.2 also
and i performed a hard reset
and only sign to connecting was (little usb task bar icon with text YOUR USB DEVICE CANNOT BE RECOGNIZED or sth like that) that splashes in 1 or 2 seconds.

i keep getting the same problem as well "usb device cannot be recognized". did u resolve the problem?

What software you already have on your Treo. I have Spb Mobile Shell and it's the reasn of "usb device cannot be recognized"...

i dont have any new software on the treo, it's brand new.

I had the same problem. I went into the active sync screen on my 750 then connected the usb cable and it took right off. Before that it gave me errors. Now I only have to plug it in and it takes off.

Unable to Update Tilt - Unknown USB device

I am using a OCT 07 version of Dutty's update and its been working well.
Don't use activesync except for copying apps over to phone.
Noticed that I have lost the ability to use activesync. My phone is longer recogized by 3 laptops and one desktop.
When I had this problem with my 8125 I would go to settings, connections, "USB to PC" and disable the check box to "Enable advanced network functionality" and my phone would show up again. Tried it with my Tilt and it didn't change anything.
Thinking I am missing something here. While I wasn't using Activesync to sync up my contacts and rather just to move programs to my micro SD card. Without Activesync I cannot update my ROM (its an addiction). I do not believe its an issue on the PC but rather with the Tilt at this time.
I have hard reset a couple of times and still having this problem. I use Sprite backup and am able to restore my phone after the hard reset.
Just to check went to boot loader mode to check and see my hardspl update is still there. It is there. When I plug in my usb cable - see the switch from serial to USB but RUU doesn't communicate with mobile phone.
Any suggestions?

Have you deleted the device in the active sync and rebooted the computer and see if it recognizes it then?

THis happens to me sometimes.
Try using a different USB cable. For some reason some cables (my docking station for instance) causes this problem!

So far have tried -
Removing partnership in activesync - on two PC's - still not working
Removing and updating activesync - on two PCs - still not working
I don't believe its an activesync problem but rather a phone problem.
Started up my "old" Cingular 8125 and tried it with docking station and two mini usb cables and it is recognized by all.
Looking at the mini usb port on the 8125 it appears to be intact but there is a small crack on one side of it - but it still works fine.
It could be a micro-usb problem. Not sure. Audio works, it appears to be charging ok.
I do use a cradle at home, office and each car. I used a magnifying glass/lamp combo to look better and it appears that all the pins are straight.
Never having looked though I am not sure what I am looking for.
Tried another cable - still same - "USB device not recognized"

Mini USB port version
I have Old model - with visible "holes" in the plug.
The New model doesn't have visible holes.
Is there a tool of sorts which shows pin connectivity on the PC side or HTC side?

Tried my cable (mini USB to standard USB) in the office today and it worked! The two at home and three computers there have historically worked since I got the ATT Tilt. Odd?
Further testing in the offices with three other cables didn't work. Plugging the one that worked into my docking station also did not work. Tested the "HTC" combo mini USB and Audio adapter didn't work.
Noticed the pins are more pronounced on the one cable that work.
So will be taking my cable home to try there with the "other" computers.
This is leaving me to think that its definitely a problem with the pins on the mini USP connector on the HTC Kaiser/Tilt. I can't see any bent but may only "flattened" a bit.
I did find a place which will service device installing a new mini USB plug for $60 including shipping. Will post link.

Dutty 4 and activesync

I installed Dutty v4 last night and upgraded my radio to 12.32 I believe. Today I tried installing more software and activesync doesn't respond. I tried installing activesync on a different computer and still nothing. I have tried hard reset, turning the computer and the phone off several times, reinstall activesync, etc. I do believe it's a problem with the phone since I did install activesync on a new computer and didn't work.
I even tried doing a reset by pressing the cammera + power button and reset. That's where I am right now and I do have the 4 color screen.
The phone charges ok and when I connect the cable I can see the icon on the battery.
Any suggestions?

No it's not that.
What I end up doing was going to my niece and get her connector from Tytn. If I plug the connector into my cable it works. But the cable by itself didn't. So I suspect my plug is going soon. Any suggestions who fixes this? I know it's under warranty and HTC should fix it.

Touch Pro USB connection issue

Hi there
Was about to install the latest version of energyROM but I can't actually set up any USB data connection with my pc.
I see the power charging glowing thing on the phone but no data connection, just like I was charging it with my AC adapter.
I tried to reboot (hard, soft) plenty of time, changing the usb connection setting (forced active sync and usb key), even tried without the micro SD... Also tried on another pc, nothing works.
