Thanks for your reply...but to how much extent..do you see performance degradation ? Is it quite visible with normal operations...?

its not too bad, main problem is the lack of ram....but i think some newer tweaked roms solve that problem. i upgraded my housemates xda II for him and hes had no complaints-he's not a power user....however i am, and when i used it i dint really have any complaints either other than the RAM thing

Will there be a Pocket PC SE Upgrade ?

I really am a little confused as to whether 02 will be releasing an upgrade (Pocket PC SE) for the XDA II ?
There is lots of good information around regarding the IIs and IIb, but there is conflicting reports about whether 02 will realease an upgrade for all existing XDA II users.
Does anyone actually know?
October 2004, official rom 1.72 from O2, but still not sure...!!!
and i hope contain WM2003SE.
sorry,...
Even if o2 do not provide an upgrade, I've checked with Imate this week and they have confirmed that they are still planning an upgrade.
I'm also expecting that the new XDA II's will be so similar in terms of hardware that their ROM images will work on the original XDA II
i'm pretty sure that o2's 1.72 is not 2003SE at leas the 1.72 from imate and qtek are not

hi all

Hello bodge, maybe i'm not a master but i'll try to help you.
Actually IIi and IIs not same.... not only the keyboar but also the other hardware.
IIs : Camera (noy mega pixel yet, but pic quality better than IIi), the processor of IIs is similiar with II (Intel PXA 263 400MHz), quad band ROM 96Mb. SDRAM 128Mb, ofcourse keyboard, bloetooth v1.1
IIi : 1,3 Mpix camera 9but as i said the quality worst than all XDA), Processor Intel PXA 272 520MHz, tri band, ROM 128Mb, SDRAM 128Mb, no keyboard, bluetoth v1.2
I think IIi still better choise, but there will be a new gadget from XDA run with WM5... whoa.... now the question is: Buy IIi or wait.... XDA IV??? :?:
Hi cornelius
Thanks for the reply.
im due my upgrade end of this week so not sure if to wait for the new xda to come out in the uk? could be months or is it due to be soon?
If not looks like the xda11i is the one then.

It's Your Choise
I think XDA IV need more than a month to be released, right now the i think the best choise is IIi, don't worry about pic qualiy just waith for ROM update.... Anyway if you buy a new IIi, would you like to send o2 email (from their email contac) to ask about upgrade WM5 for IIi, because they need sufficient request for releasing that WM5.
Ok, have nice experience with your new gadget...

xda advice

im after a pda/phone and thinking a xda

hi,i have been using xda for many years,
From Xda to xda ll,xda lls and xda lli
now im using dopod 900.
its did not give me problem like all xda does.
after using dopod 900
i find its very stable & im so pls with it
You'd perhaps be best with an XDAIIi. This will give you the functionality you'd need (don't get an XDAII by mistake - no onboard wifi). You could add an SD/MMC card for your audio. 2GB cards are becoming available at reasonable prices but 1GB would normally suffice (ebuyer.co.uk). If you're used to little phones like Nokias and Erikssons you might want to consider the physical size. XDAs are not small - especially in a case. You also will need to check this site for streamlining your device as they don't run at their optimum on delivery.

O2 offering XDA Guide

I have just been onto O2 UK re my pending upgrade, I asked about XDA products as I have been using them since the begining and since I have purchased all the mapping for USA + Europe I want to stick with the brand.
I have been offered an XDA Guide ( due for release in May ) or the original XDA Serra... Would anybody be able to advise on the new features as at present I'm using the XDA Orbit2.
Many thanks in advance
Damian
the main differences between the orbit 2 and the guide are that the guide has double the ram and rom, 256 ram and 512 rom. It is also smaller than the orbit. The guide runs on windows mobile 6.1 pro and has a faster 528mhz processor and supports up to 7.2mbps on hsdpa. It should also come with tomtom 7 installed.
The UK version of Xda Guide will ship with Co-Pilot 7 NOT TOMTOM 7.
Cheers

Moved to Q&A.

Many thanks for all the info in this matter, I have been using Co Pilot V7 on the orbit 2, have also just got all the N. America mapping so will stick with it for another 9 months until next upgrade and wait to see what they release by then

Whats the Best Performing Windows Phone With A Keyboard

And when I mean best, I mean 2d hardware acceleration,3d hardware acceleration, decent specs and it can run TomTom 6 or 7 with a silky smooth framerate like the Nokio 6680 (dream right) and isnt too problem matic.. (hardware wise)...
HTC Touch Pro2 if you want the better keyboard and TouchFLO3D.
Else it's the Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO, which rocks a 800Mhz CPU with a dedicated graphics accelerator. The Omnia has TouchWiz by the way.
I agree, from the current HTC lineup there really isn't much with a hardware keyboard (unfortunately!) So the Touch Pro2 is definitely the best bet with that. It's likely that you'll consider a different manufacturer for that reason... I don't suppose you'd go for Android? There are some nice Snapdragon qwertys coming out soon on that platform.

Well, I was basically talking about the Droid X. Shouldn't be too long... Some sites say July on Verizon.
To kekkle - Good Answer...
HTC Rhodium
By far, the best hardware keyboard device out there
checking it out now.. but what about tomtom7 smooth performance like the nokia phone.. or close to it. My tilt2's tomtom7 performance is sucky.. would it run faster in 6.1 rather than 6.5?

If you already have the Touch Pro2 then you won't find much better with a qwerty keyboard running Windows Mobile.
