HSDPA very soon - Palm Treo 750

Palm had second thoughts about releasing the 750 w/o HSDPA. It still will be launched as UMTS R99 around Thanksgiving but expect HSDPA (R5) in JAN
The 750 is HS ready SW & HW. A new ROM will enable HS

HSDPA

Ok now i have the 750v, i have it unlocked and using my HSDPA enabled tmobile account. Anyone care to guess at how to enable HSDPA do you really think it needs a software upgrade or is there some way to tweak as i believe the vodafone tytn had hsdpa switched off too
Chris
TREO 750V WAS RELEASED WITHOUT HSDPA. HSDPA WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER MARCH 2007 WITH A NEW ROM
yes there is a tweak to enable hsdpa. search in the tytn forum for "sethsdpa" it is for the tytn but it works on my 750 also
if you enable hspda on treo 750v and your on voda network then you will not receive voice calls whilst using hspda in either push email or browsing.
same applies to any device using hspda on voda network unless your north of the borders apparently.
we are all waiting for voda network to be upgraded :-(

HSDPA Vodafone UK

Hey Guys,
Ive upgraded to the latest Vodafone WM6 ROM and was expecting to be able to get HSDPA connections, I live in Basingstoke and should (according to Vodas coverage map) be able to get HSDPA. I have also tried in Reading Newbury and Central London.
The max speed I can actually get is around 200kbits (average is about 140kbits) and I never get an "H" symbol just the usual "3g" one. Speeds were tested on the dsl reports mobile speed test with 100k download. http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1
Can anyone on the Vodafone UK network get an HSDPA connection? I have complained to Vodafone but they are useless.
I also found out that Vodafones network is currently being upgraded to support HSDPA data and Voice simultaneously.
I have a feeling HSDPA is currently still off on the UK Vodafone flavor of the ROM but it would be nice to have this clarified.
All opinions welcome......... Thanks in Advance.
Hi.. Can't help you with Vodafone but I'm on Orange with a wm6 750v and only get the 3g icon but it does use the orange HSDPA network when i connect to the internet. Much quicker than when I was on wm5 and could only get UTMS, think you get the 3g icon with wm6 whatever network it uses but I could be wrong. There was talk that Orange and Voda were going to mix their 3g networks for better coverage, maybe it has something to do with that?
Hi, I'm on Vodafone UK (contract). I was hoping for WM6 to have HSDPA natively on this ROM, but I too only ever saw the 3G symbol. Out of frustration I re applied the HSDPA hack for WM5.
Sure enough - HSDPA is present. It shows 3G, then when data is actively moving - it changes to a H.
I've done speed tests and can get over 700k download speeds.
I live in the Durham area with 100% HSDPA coverage.
After applying the hack, or after a reset - reset it again - for some reason it takes 2 soft resets for it to "take".
But you need to apply the old hack.
Hope that helps you!
Ive upgraded to wm6 on 750v but still needed to apply this to get 700+kbit/sec
http://www.gadgetech.info/treo/hacks/hsdpa/
'H' all the way now
Be warned - rumour has it that using HSPDA on 750v causes voicecalls issues (ie you wont get any if push email occurs) in certain parts of UK on voda network.
Cheers for the input guys,
Im a little bit upset that HSDPA has not been included in the UK 750V ROM-- I know why because Vodafones network isnt upgraded yet--- but palm could of at least told us this was the case!!
Sooo are we expecting another ROM update when Vodafones network is ready?
Would be nice to get some clarification!.
HSDPA is there. I installed the Vodafone ROM (though I did remove the extended ROM) on my generic 750. Not to rub salt in the wound, but I am on 3 and dslreports is showing me connected at 900-1015kb/s.
I haven't experienced the issue of having a HSDPA push connection and have voice quality issues. I am on the phone most of the day with email constantly coming through.
Works for me
Ok so I have the Vodafone WM6 legit Rom and the HSDPA patch/hack installed and it works fine. When I make or recieve a call on the phone whilst browsing it drops the connection down to 3G as shown by the symbol (changes from H to 3G) then when the call is ended it changes back! Battery drain is exactly the same as using 3G but I am getting speeds on Vodafone in Sheffield of up to 1mbs
If I find I have any problems I will let you all know!
My 750v is unlocked and I'm using it on 3 in the UK with the WM6 upgrade. Get great HSDPA speeds now. No need to get the hack (which never worked for me on WM5 anyway).
I thought it worked!
Ok so I was sending a large email the other day (3mbs attachment) and I tried to make a call while it was sending the mail over the HSDPA. The phone tried to dial and then hung up. I tried to call the number again and got the same thing! I stopped the email sending and even though it was not transmitting any data I still could not make a call! I disconnected the data connection and making a call was fine, it worked 1st time!
I have since uninstalled the hack at it works fine now over 3G speeds!
What a shame, I want HSDPA back
I'm in central London (W10 and SW1) in areas listed on Vodafone's site as being in HSDPA coverage. Although I have WM6 installed I have never seen 'H'. I'm wary of the hack after comments above describing problems.
Vodafone have no answer for my issue.
Has anyone on a WM6 hack-less 750v picked up HSDPA in London/UK yet?

SIM trouble in the UK - HELP!

I purchased my phone in April but have just started trying to use it. I'm based in London UK but for reasons at the time, had the phone delivered to Canada. Either way, the manufacturer assured me it was unlocked and listed the available networks:
4G: FDD-LTE : BAND1/BAND3(2100/1800MHz)
TDD-LTE : BAND41 2496-2690MHz
2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100MHz
My phone specs are:
Model Number: LEO C
Android Version 4.4.2
MIUI Version: MIUI-4.6.20
Basband Version: 3.4.0-g26e4aff-00865-g1dabe2b
Build number: KVT49L
I've tried 2 different SIMs from BT (connecting to the EE network) and I've had intermittent service -- most times having no service at all. BT has assured me that it's not their network (or the SIM) and that they are compatible with the FDD-LTE specs provided by the manufacturer.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem or can recommend a network company that will work on my phone. It's super frustrating having an Xiaomi Mi4 and not being able to use it. After speaking with BT 6 times in the last 2 weeks, and not getting ANYWHERE, I'm feeling at my wits end about this!
Thanks!
i have been using mi4 since its launch, i bought mine from India but use it in the UK with Three Network. i have never had any of those issues you are facing

Will it Work? LG Action Cam LTE

So... I might be able to get my hands on the LG Action Cam that came out back in 2016 in Korea and a few other markets. I want it because it's an inexpensive live steaming action cam. What I need to know is, will I be able to use a US sim in it to get 4G service? Is there any way to find out, or what would I need to know to figure it out?
Network and data connection 4G LTE Cat 4 (75 / 50Mbps) with support for Italian frequencies (800/1800/2600 MHz) + 1 frequency for abroad; UMTS 2100MHz; HSDPA 14 Mbps / HSUPA 5.76Mbps
Any help is really appreciated!

ROGPhone UK Carrier's

I was looking to purchase this phone early as its £100 off in the UK but am worried about the below from reading on here.
There are problems with the phone no working with LTE as some have mentioned there is no option within the OS to say that its supported or lacks a way to enable it. Also reading below comment from my Carrier ThreeUK I may hold of is call quality is a issue until someone can check the options in the ROGPhones settings and ThreeUK confirm support for 3rd party phones on their network.
4G Super-Voice doesn't work on other non-Three devices yet however, even if the manufacturer has stated that it's VoLTE compatible. We're working on this, so be sure to check back for updates.
Is there anyone who can check and advise if this worth holding back for at the cost of £100 as id buy the phone out right
Just wondering this too. I have a Pixel 2 XL and a Moto G6 Plus on it's way and I would like to get VOLTE (AKA Supervoice) working. Option to enable it is missing and go deeper into the settings and VOLTE Provisioning is greyed out
My Carrier Three UK support the following bands:
800mhz (4G) Band 20
1800mhz (4G) Band 3
2100mhz (3G) Band 1
i get lost between phone version A and B as both support FDD-LTE bands listed above. I dont get TD-LTE at all in my country, then what confuses me is WCDMA where i get band 1 & 3 but not 20, then TS-SCMA and CDMA and the last row i dont think is still on in the uk.
so having a look on the razer phone specs as i know it works on three uk even when bought from razer but as the stock both RP1 and RP2 this maybe in their carrier settings.
https://www.razer.com/gb-en/compare?products=Phone-Base,Phone-2-Base …
compared to the RP1 i have and RP2 and then comparing to Asus i think ill be ok but need to test the LTE/Supervoice. i dont make calls that often so need to see the impact it has but then in 15 days i could test this out once the phones setup and updated make a few calls without wifi connection at my desk at work and at my house where they are the only two places i may hit a black spot and have to rely on wifi calling but this is where LTE comes in and is required to allow me to make that call on LTE/Super Voice rather than wifi calling so that if i have to leave the room or building the call does not drop out.
this is comforting to hear though from Three UK on the page below
"Right now, all 4G Super-Voice compatible iPhones will be 4G Super-Voice enabled once the carrier settings have been installed, even if they didn't come from Three.
4G Super-Voice doesn't work on other non-Three devices yet however, even if the manufacturer has stated that it's VoLTE compatible. We're working on this, so be sure to check back for updates.
Phone not compatible?
We update this list with more phones regularly, so check back again soon."
http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/network/4G-Supervoice
its basically a test it and see what happens, so if i can make a decent call from home or work at that point if i find its hard to make and stay connected on the phone in a call i will have to return the device.
If its not a problem and i can make and receive a call without LTE support even if it comes later which would be nice but not needed right away i can live without it. Hey i may just even work when the carrier settings hit my phone but if people say the option is greyed out that could be the network or phone doesnt support it. However if Asus are selling the phone as LTE supported and its at the bottom of the page im leading towards its enabled by carrier settings if not then i would investigate as ASUS need to look at their settings because their technically breaking the law if their advertising it as a feature and your carrier say it will work but the phone doesnt enable it. Again if you have this issue do not throw this at ASUS without doing homework 1st as from smart phones these days its hard to see where a problem lies could be google or asus or your carrier.
If you buy from asus uk direct you get 15 days to test it and check it over so in that time you its one of the things to check and return if it doesnt for you.
It hard to just buy a phone thats not sold with a contract these days and yes even Apple phones have features that some carriers support and some dont. Look at visual voice mail as i was with o2 UK for years and got freaked out when i lost the visual voicemail feature because i moved to Three UK. where you get a txt message rather than a little icon with a number on it. small thing but a good example.
I did try contacting ASUS about VoLTE and Wifi Calling on Three. Or if they didn't support it on the unlocked version would they be selling the device through UK Carriers where they would put there own version of the firmware on the device to support these functionalities. But as I kinda expected would happen there response wasn't exactly clear. I think they just took a look at the spec sheet and said yep it says VoLTE on there and replied to me.
Would love to get this to replace my Razer Phone but rely on Wifi Calling/VoLTE as signal just dies inside the flat.

I have pre ordered from the official website/asus reseller i have a list of things i will be comparing to my Razer Phone 1st gen. if it meets the standard im happy with i will keep the phone and if not then it goes back for a refund. Im the same but i think LTE/VOLTE is a gimmick as i barely see that im using it enough to justify my phone being locked down to a carrier. Current all ThreeUK related settings such as LTE/4G Supervoice and wifi calling is off and has been for about 2 weeks now and i must say i have not noticed a difference.
Worth checking and turning off some settings as LTE is only really used in blackspot.
I got the phone during £100 off and also got the twin view dock before it went out of stock was probably the first few ppl to get the dock cuz soon after it was out of stock
Works well with three £20 unlimited broadband package unlimited message, voice thats why i like three their data package are always a good buy
But my speeds arnt bad as its 4G and no issue with calls either three may send a message saying it cant automatically set the settings up for this device as they normally message you the network settings but it dint need setting up it worked right away
I'm currently with EE. No VoLTE no VoWiFi. Hope Pie update will have it cooked in. OnePlus 6 got them both.
