Can anyone help me please.
Brought a 2nd user MDA compact 2 on t-mobile but when i power it up it asks for a password. The previous owner has forgotten it and i have tried a soft and hard reset but that dosent work. Does anyone know how to remove the password.
Thanks
Maybe you can try to go into bootloader and load a new ROM. there are many fine ROMs available on this forum. I don't know if it helps, but it might be worth the try.
You may not be hardreseting your unit. The manual method of hardreseting is wrong (meant for Magician, doesn't work in the Charmer). Take at look at the bottom of the Wiki on how to hardreset
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Charmer
You ought to see something like, Formatting ROM and it takes significantly longer to boot. It should not have asked you for password after you have hardreset your device.

I can read little Geramn...only a little. Can you write your question in German once more? I think it would be much easier to follow. I try to understand your question:
1. you want to flash a new rom
2. you got the 120 country id error
3. you ignore it and try a second time
4. this time, it works, the flashing continue and finally goes to Checksum error
5. you then soft reset the machine
6. you stuck in the bootloader
is that what you are saying?
Have you try to Hard reset your MDA? I read that you have only soft reset your machine.

First thing to do is get the unit working again. Go to the t-mobile.de site and download the latest ROM update. That should be an executable that actually runs from the bootloader mode anyway. Once you get a working ROM, charge up your XDA and try it again.
Hello everybody!!!
I need help with my Himalaya... Tried to upgrade it to WM5, successful for a while but after a soft reset, it wont boot up properly. It stays stuck on the Windows Mobile boot screen, with both the bluetooth and power/signal light turning on/off alternately. Hard resetting it does not help, the same symptoms are still happening. I had to reinstall the WM5 ROM several times but the same problem now occurs everytime I have to soft reset the unit. I had to downgrade to wm2003, ROM 1.72.00WWE, Radio v1.17.00, extROM v1.72.181.
Can anybody help me on this? Thanks!

After upgrade, ensure you clear registry and format the storage. You may try to redo this by following the instructions in the last part of the installation document, as pasted below:
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
When done, press DPad and wait until OS starts.

Also be aware that many backup software can corrupt an installation after recovery, even those that have a "Upgrade or Migration" feature. It is best to use PPCBckpContacts to restore your contacts and to use SMS BackupSoftware for your sms's, both can be found on this forum and both use standard databases instead of proprietary formats that could corrupt the WM5 databases.
on topic: i will have to bookmark this page in case i get the same problem when i upgrade

wow i remember this post i made month ago. since then my phone broke, was stuck with an acient nokia, no camera, not even a colour screen. luckily im back with a new windows mobile phone. anyway no one is gonna read this, but i thought i should take a trip down memory lane
on a htc p4300, it did not work now i have the 3 color screen and says SPL 2.28.0001 now what do i do to fix this ? my sync connection does not work.
First, ensure htc p4300 is a identical with a Wizard.
Second, did you follow the instructions on the stickies? You may read first, then read again .. it is important to follow the steps exactly.
Seems it is a G4 based on the SPL (assuming it is a Wizard). So you may have a look in the G4 section.
The 3 color screen is the bootloader mode.

An HTC p4300 is not a wizard. I hate to tell you this, but your phone may be dead to you now if you flashed any ROM from the wizard forum. In fact, I just checked and a p4300 isn't even a ppc, it's a smartphone. Next time you decide to try doing something like upgrading your ROM you might want to read the forums first.
lol i just flashed the wizard love rom on it? and it works lol
but its not detecting sim card?
I was completly wrong, apparently a p4300 is a wizard. The website I went to to see what a p4300 was said it was a smartphone and that it had windows mobile smartphone editioon on it. It doesn't look like any wizard that I've ever seen before either. I apologize for the remarks. One thing though, you have a G4 wizard judging by the fact that you said that your SPL was 2.28.0001. Hopefully if you're flashing ROM's you had it unlocked through IMEI-Check, if not then you need to be using shelltool to flash your ROMs which may be why your first attempt didn't work. As for the SIM problem you have now, try taking it out, wiping it off and then reinserting it and see if that works. If not, try flashing back to the original ROM that you had on there and see if that fixes it.
you know whats sucks i called HTC and its like this phone does not exist... its hidden on the website they jump from the htc 4000 to the 4350.
There must not be too many of those out there then. When I did a search for it, the only phone company that I found that had that version was cincinati bell wireless. If t-mobile or xingular or some big company had picked up that version you would probably see more of them around.
Hi
Tried installing the HTC 6.1 Rom RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.03.405.0_radio_sign_25.70.40.02_1.64.06.04
on my TyTn II from Vista and XP but i still get the same Connection Error.
Can somebody help with this
Thanks
Need More Info
We need more info to properly troubleshoot...
Make of phone (TyTn II, Tilt, Vario III, etc)
If you are trying to use this rom on anything other than an unbranded HTC TyTn II, then it will not work unless you have used HardSPL to remove carrier branding first.
Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369282 for more info.
260 errors are usually related to USB port access. If you are using McCafee or Firewall software, you will have problems unless you disable or gifve full access.
Again, to quote NotATreo, more info will help, but consider temporarily disabling firewall or virus software.
Thanks guys
Its the HTC TyTn II and the rom im trying to flash is the 1 released by HTC so i assume its the other problem, yes iam running mcafee firewall, ill disable that and try flashing.
thanks a lot

I was able to flash while running the mcafee, but I still can't connect to the internet after flashing the Hard SPL and the radio
Have you try using SD card to flash?
just renamr file "RUU_signed.nbh" to "KAISIMG.nbh" and place the file in your Micro SD card.
Power on the phone and enter bootloader mode by press "power botton" + "camera botton" and using stylus to reset the device. It will auto start reflashing the ROM. It only takes 1min to 2min.
Tried the mcafee thing but then it gave me the Vendor ID Error
Basically there is no way around except for flashing the Hard SPL and removing the vendor thingy.
Not sure if i want to do that cause that will void the warrenty.
Tanks so much guys
Well, technically you are but they don't know it untill you make it noticable and there are ways to make it back to OEM.

Just flash while you are in bootloader screen (tri-color)
Tried putting in bootloader mode and flashing but the same Vendor ID Error, dont have a choice but to Flash the Bootloader. Dont want to do that cause had a Problem with my previous Imate phone, the service center guys checked that 1st.
thanks
well... When I purchase a new phone, I never think about returning it unless DOA. When I flash my Tilt and iPhone, there is no turning point. Oh well, I change a new phone almost every year......Currently wait on my new N96

I would try plugging your cable into a different usb port and giving it another try- this has worked for me so far. Good luck
First off I'd like to apologize for what must seem like a duplication of a thousand other "stuck in boot loader" threads, but I've got what appears to be a fairly unique situation here and none of the fixes I've found searching the forum have worked for me.
Yesterday I flashed Dutty's WM6.1 ROM using JumpSPL, everything went fine. Today I went to install one of Niki's radios using JumpSPL again, but it got stuck at 99%. I went through the recovery process (several times) and each time after that got stuck at 0%. I've tried soft and hard resets, every time it comes back to the tricolor boot loader. MTTY doesn't give me the USB port option, even if I disable any and all tasks related to Mobile Device Center. Stock AT&T ROM won't load, says "This update utility cannot be used for your PDA phone." I can't flash HardSPL, after I hit enter it doesn't do anything. I tried the Vista fix available on Modaco, but it's not compatible with 64-bit Vista so I'm SOL there too. I'm really at wits end here, could someone please point me in the right direction? I've read time and time again here that as long as you still get the tricolor screen your phone is not bricked, but I seem to be all out of options and nothing has helped.
The boot screen displays the following:
RUUNBH (Top right corner)
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8
Please, any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
I don't believe JumpSPL is intended for radio flashing. Flash HardSPL and reflash with a shipped AT&T ROM.
I can't flash HardSPL for some reason, when I press enter in the prompt it brings up nothing happens.
Good job there slick! Did you purposefully ignore all the posts about safely flashing your device?
If you don't mind a little berating & a ton of sarcasm, I may be compelled to take an interest in helping you to fix the device (or to see how badly you've f'd it up & if it can be salvaged at least). Anyway, find me on MSN IM if you want & I'll walk you thru the steps for diagnostics & if possible, recovery.
You'll have to promise not to rush into doing any more stupid things though.

Yeah, yeah, gung ho, help the newbie, man this is getting old.
for I friend
Hi there ...
a friend of my has a same problem with his Vodafone VPA compact V, can I give him your hotmail ?
Or can you my little tutorial ?
thanks in advance .
Srdjank
T- Mobile MDA Vario
owner , when I am big I will have Tytn II
Managed to get it straightened out, for some reason MTTY 1.42 wasn't working properly with my system but 1.16 did the trick- Rebooted through there and flashed HardSPL then loaded my ROM without a hitch. Thank you everyone for being so responsive and helpful!

Ahhh, one more staisfied customer! Glad I could help out srdjank. Just remember that you can't treat a Kaiser like it's a Wizard. Similar yes, but there are different processes for safely flashing.
So far I've seen that Flashing Radios with JumpSPL is a sure recipe for bad memory blocks. Always, ALWAYS, HardSPL!
i also had the same problem when i tried to sim unlock my mda vario iii in progress screen the progress stuck at 95%. i would appreciate any help to recover the phone. thanks in advance
