PIEPlus by ReenSoft is, now, probably the best Pocket Internet Explorer / Internet Explorer Mobile plug-in, allowing for a great deal of new functionality (save pages, save links, multiple tabs).
The plug-in is available HERE and costs $14.95. If you're a version 1.x user, you only need to pay half the price for the upgrade. The plug-in is available for all Pocket PC operating systems starting with Pocket PC 2002.

I've frequently reported on the new versions of PIEPlus; the last "real" review was that of the Release Candidate 1 (RC1) (the last but one version released before the final version) here. As there are not many visible changes it (except for some menu restructuring – for example, “Screen Drag” is now in the scroll menu), please refer to it (and the review of version 2.0, also linked from there) for a complete overview of what it's capable of and how it compares to the alternate Pocket Internet Explorer / Internet Explorer Mobile plug-ins, most importantly, MultiIE.
Compared to RC1, there are a lot of welcome bug fixes, most importantly the following:
The previous versions had some bugs with more than two tabs opened – some tabs just inexplicably vanished, the left/right scrolling arrows didn’t appear on the rightmost part of the tab bar etc. Now, the same hasn’t happened to me on any of my test devices. (I’ve throroughly tested this.)
The scrolling behaviour made much more consistent on most WM5 devices. In the following, I elaborate on this subject a bit more.
Scrolling and WM5
As far as scrolling, one of the most neuralgic issues (also see this article) under WM5 & IEM is concerned, I’ve re-run my scrolling tests with the following results (please DO READ THE LINKED ARTICLE so that you understand what these charts are all about!):
Your own settings (“Scroll like IE” disabled):
IE compatible scroll mode (“Scroll like IE” enabled):
That is, the scroll in PIEPlus 2.1 is functioning as expected. On the HTC Universal, I haven’t run into the “unable to set keyboard hook” error message known for many Universal & RC1 users (see for example the comments here), which was already fixed in RC2.
I’ve run the tests not only in the first, but also in the second and third tabs. RC1 had a bug on the Universal and the Wizard that only let these devices override the default scrolling functionality in the first opened tab. Now, the problem is gone.
Note that if you own a Pocket PC with a volume slider you'd like to use as a page up/down scroller, you may want to give a try to SmartSKey . It overrides the default volume setter functionality of the volume slider, making it much more usable. Please read this article for more information on getting and using SmartSKey.
Note that the final version, as with earlier versions (and unlike MultiIE), doesn’t allow for registry-level disabling of the WM5 default (link) scroll behaviour ([HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ Navigation\4-Way Nav] explained here). This is, however, not a problem, now that scrolling works as expected.
Verdict
Now that the tab and the scrolling problems have all been fixed, I can only recommend the new version. It is REALLY good. Give the trial version a try.

You may remember my previous article on playing back RMVB (RealMedia Variable Bitrate) videos on Windows Mobile. Back then, the only hack available was pretty much useless: it only ran on Marvell (ex-Intel) Xscale CPU's and delivered a really inferior performance (very low video speed, useless for watching anything).
A brand new version has just been released, which works much faster and, according to other reports, other (not only Xscale) platforms too. You can download it HERE, from the first post (do NOT download the CAB file in the fourth post, it won't work!). Copy the contents of the ZIP file on a storage card or a directory on your handset. Fire up File Explorer on your mobile and make sure "Show all files" is enabled. It's disabled by default; enable it by tap-and-holding an empty area anywhere – for example, at the bottom of any listing – and selecting "Show all files" from the context menu. Then, select all the files and Copy them (either the context menu or Menu / Edit / Copy). Go to \Windows on your mobile and select Menu / Edit / Paste your files to this directory. Alternatively, you can just copy the files via an ActiveSync connection; for example, via Total Commander's WinCE FS plug-in.
Now, you'll still need to import the registry file, rmvb.reg, into the Registry. If you have a REGEDIT 4-compliant, import-capable registry editor on your handset, you can do this directly. If you, on the other hand, only have a REGEDIT 5-compliant one (like Resco File Explorer or SOTI's Pocket Controller on your desktop computer), you'll need THIS file I've created for you instead of the one coming with the original distribution. (Please see my Registry Editor bible for more info.)
NOTE: unlike with the previous and, in other respects, much inferior plug-in, this one has some compatibility problems: it just displays "The parameter is incorrect" with some of the videos; for example, the hotel_california _ra5.1_640x480_30s.rmvb test video I used in my previous article (and this one too):

Other users have also reported this problem. Also note that many users have also reported audio/video synchronization problems.
I hate having to remember people still encode their stuff in RMVB. Thanks for your drivers!

FavSites is essentially a quick launch tab browser application that allows you to load up to 5 tabs of your favourite sites. You can customise each tab to your liking to load your favourite local news site, tech news site, webmail or anything that you see fit. It has lots of features and configuration options such as:
- Ability to customise up to 5 sites to be displayed in the tabs (name can be customised too!). 1 Tab is the minimum allowed.
- Manual clearing of application cache (which caches the pages to your internal storage) or automatically clearing of cache on exit
- Exit confirmation dialog (can be enabled or disabled)
- Page Rendering Preferences Option – JavaScript and Display Images Option (useful for those who want text-only display OR those with a mobile data plan and just want to catch the latest news without images)
- Support for Flash to be displayed in the browser (there is a known bug where if a flash element is within view of the tabs above, it will overlap the tabs. I’ve yet to be able to fix this, so for now, please move your tab view outside of the flash element to prevent the overlapping issue)
- Page loading indication below each tab, indicated by a text and a loading percentage (ex: is loading…(10%))
- Forward, backward and refresh capabilities
- Keep Screen ON option. Don’t you hate it when your phone screen times out when you’re reading an interesting article or some really awesome comic? Well don’t get upset anymore! With the keep screen ON option, as long as FavSites is in view, your phone’s screen will never time out.
- Display orientation – You can toggle between automatic sensor orientation, set it to fixed portrait OR landscape orientation all the time.
- Volume Scrolling – I like this one the most. You can use your volume rocker buttons to scroll UP and DOWN one page at a time for easy browsing/reading pleasure. Don’t like that? Perhaps you prefer to scroll to the topmost or the bottom of the page instead? No problem, you can set it to that instead if you prefer. Awesome right?
- Google Web Toolkit mobile page rending – If you’re like me, you’ll probably be browsing some sites that are not optimized for mobile which requires a lot of horizontal scrolling and such. Well don’t worry anymore, you can set for each tab to render them in GWT (Google Web Toolkit) mobilizer form and on top of that, you can set whether you want to display images or not JUST for GWT sites to boot. Now, how cool is that?
- Manual tab loading – Now this one came from a suggestion by a user in legendroid.com, setting this option on any tab allows you to manually load the tab by touching on the link in the tab. Having this option turned on would load up your tabs a bit faster (instead of loading up all 5 sites up at one go for instance) and also possibly gives you more freedom instead of loading all the tabs.

Hi all,
I'd like to now if/how it's possible to open multiple windows in Internet Explorer Mobile. I found "NoNewWindows" in de registry and changed it to 0 but that didn't change anything.
I would like to use it together with iMangager to have a tab-based browsing experience in IE.
Thanks,
Joren
I don't think PIE supports tabs. It would be sweet if it did, though.
Awwww...
But does winmo support opening the same app multiple times? Like regular windows does? (many instances of same exe)
Is there really noone who knows wether or not it's possible to open many instances of the same application in winmo?
(sorry for the bump)

Notes
This program has been developed using Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0.7045.0, which is required to run it. Only this version will work as there are numerous bugs in previous versions, as well as this one, but this is the one that is most stable and enables the functionality to open new tabs.
Favourites are managed by Pocket Internet Explorer.
There is a known issue when navigating, the back/forward buttons do not function correctly. For example, when you click on a link for the first time you should be allowed to "go back". However, due to bugs in Microsoft .NET Compact 2.0 this does not register correctly that you can "go back". However, there is a workaround, which is to go to another tab and then return. This then registers correctly.

Android version is still 7. 8. 0. 95 not 8.

Just got it from else where ... can't find any kind of link to v 8 beta anywhere on their site.
Anyway, installed it and subsequently installed Gnote. Gnote asked for permissions and I opted for this new UC browser. Guess what ... it took me to a page for Grant / Deny access with an email id already filled in!!!
hadion***[email protected] Wonder who this Hadi is??? I've got the full id, but put those stars for privacy in case it was a mistake!
@ abhishekkjain care to explain?

Yeah. 8 is on the market now, but not as an update. It's a separate download.

Hello!
A succint presentation first of all:
I am a power user who likes to browse the internet desktop style, this means I use custom desktop user agent (X11; Linux x86_64). I operate in landscape most of the time and use a reduced screen dpi value for sites and apps to think my screen is a lot bigger (at times I reduce it to actual desktop monitor levels). Take a peek:

Been using Chrome for some years already, with the usual root user user agent hack and many flag optimizations. It still is a great browser imho, but it is starting to seriously stink. If I do recall correctly with the v62 update the address bar tab switching slide left/right thing received an animation which degraded its performance from flawless instant into slow piece of crap. Also at that point or some version later my keyboard's Enter/Go key started turning into Next in some search fields where it shouldn't (this is nothing major as the ALT key forces normal operation). In the recent v71 they removed the homepage links to Bookmarks :crying: and Downloads. When I downgraded from v71 to a previous version, the browser deleted all the files it had in his download history from my device's Download folder (this is super bad and a serious violation of privacy). With the very latest update which for now I am going to uninstall, they have added another stupid animation to the page search engine which of course cripples it considerably when using it in pages with a lot of content. As an example, when searching for a device in the Batteries and chargers' section at lygte-info.dk the search was instant before that upgrade downgrade, now it takes many orders of magnitude more time, i.e. it's a slow piece of sh1t.
It's going downhill or so it seems to me. What a waste of development efforts.
In essence, my question is what are the possible alternatives. I like good bookmark management (with folders and search function) and cloud syncing. I despise explicit and/or slow interface animations, I despise unnecessary crap getting in the way of my high FoV. The more flexibility and options the better.
C'mon, say something.
