[APP] FavSites - Android Apps and Games

FavSites is essentially a quick launch tab browser application that allows you to load up to 5 tabs of your favourite sites. You can customise each tab to your liking to load your favourite local news site, tech news site, webmail or anything that you see fit. It has lots of features and configuration options such as:
- Ability to customise up to 5 sites to be displayed in the tabs (name can be customised too!). 1 Tab is the minimum allowed.
- Manual clearing of application cache (which caches the pages to your internal storage) or automatically clearing of cache on exit
- Exit confirmation dialog (can be enabled or disabled)
- Page Rendering Preferences Option – JavaScript and Display Images Option (useful for those who want text-only display OR those with a mobile data plan and just want to catch the latest news without images)
- Support for Flash to be displayed in the browser (there is a known bug where if a flash element is within view of the tabs above, it will overlap the tabs. I’ve yet to be able to fix this, so for now, please move your tab view outside of the flash element to prevent the overlapping issue)
- Page loading indication below each tab, indicated by a text and a loading percentage (ex: is loading…(10%))
- Forward, backward and refresh capabilities
- Keep Screen ON option. Don’t you hate it when your phone screen times out when you’re reading an interesting article or some really awesome comic? Well don’t get upset anymore! With the keep screen ON option, as long as FavSites is in view, your phone’s screen will never time out.
- Display orientation – You can toggle between automatic sensor orientation, set it to fixed portrait OR landscape orientation all the time.
- Volume Scrolling – I like this one the most. You can use your volume rocker buttons to scroll UP and DOWN one page at a time for easy browsing/reading pleasure. Don’t like that? Perhaps you prefer to scroll to the topmost or the bottom of the page instead? No problem, you can set it to that instead if you prefer. Awesome right?
- Google Web Toolkit mobile page rending – If you’re like me, you’ll probably be browsing some sites that are not optimized for mobile which requires a lot of horizontal scrolling and such. Well don’t worry anymore, you can set for each tab to render them in GWT (Google Web Toolkit) mobilizer form and on top of that, you can set whether you want to display images or not JUST for GWT sites to boot. Now, how cool is that?
- Manual tab loading – Now this one came from a suggestion by a user in legendroid.com, setting this option on any tab allows you to manually load the tab by touching on the link in the tab. Having this option turned on would load up your tabs a bit faster (instead of loading up all 5 sites up at one go for instance) and also possibly gives you more freedom instead of loading all the tabs.

Firefox 13 Arrives with a Start Page Face Lift and Speed Improvements

SOURCE : Kickedface
While Microsoft and Google continue to compete for browser market share, a new version of brings some much needed improvements to the user interface.
Officially launching on Mozilla today, the development team behind Firefox has rolled out a variety of speed improvements and several different tweaks to the layout. Upon installing the new version, Firefox users will immediately notice the new light gray Start Page which contains a familiar Google search field in addition to a variety of new shortcut icons at the bottom of the screen. The one-click shortcuts include direct access to downloads, bookmarks, history, add-ons, syncing across devices and the main pop-up window for settings. There’s also a “Restore Previous Session” icon that opens up all the previous tabs that were being used the last time Firefox was opened. Thanks to the source : DigitalTrends
Similar to Google Chrome, Mozilla plans to use the Start Page as a gateway to enter the Apps Market in order to help users find new extensions to install. The Start Page can be pinned as an App Tab in order to allow users quick access to the shortcuts. Also similar to Google Chrome, Mozilla has added support for nine thumbnails that display recently viewed sites when opening up a new tab.

}
Firefox users have the option of pinning specific thumbnails so those sites will always appear on the page or specifically deleting sites in order to remove a site from the page. Sites can also be dragged around the interface. If a Firefox user prefers the old design, there’s an option in the top right corner of the New Tab page that will revert to the solid white background.
In order to tweak loading times, Mozilla has modified the tab loading function that was added within Firefox 12. Rather than loading all tabs when the user starts Firefox, the new “Tabs on Demand” feature will specifically load the active tab only and defer loading of all other tabs until the user actually clicks on a tab. This feature will be particularly helpful if a user utilizes a large number of tabs and attempts to load a previous session. This process will ultimately help free up resources and avoid shifting into a slow crawl when loading pages.
Mozilla has also included a new “Reset” button in Firefox 13 that will restore the browser to basic settings, but also saves all data related to your Firefox profile. Data saved after clicking the reset button includes passwords, bookmarks, browsing history, cookies and auto-fill information. During the reset process, items returned to default settings or simply not saved include themes, extensions, open tabs and site-specific preferences. Ideally, this feature will be helpful for anyone that installs a problematic, third-party extension or someone that simply wants a fresh installation of Firefox.
According to PC World , other improvements within Firefox 13 include tweaked software that cycles memory and free up resources when a tab is closed as well as speed improvements within previously “unoptimized routines” in Firefox code. Anyone interested in downloading the new version of Firefox can find the updated software on the Mozilla Site when it launches today or simply wait until the browser updates the software automatically over the next week.

[APP][4.1+] Toddo - the convenient task list manager

Hi folks,
So I have been in search for a good-looking yet simple task list manager and to my surprise found none. Some require cloud sync, some integrate with calendars, maps and whatnot, some need crazy permissions and some just look horrible.

I am a proud Note 4 user and I've made an app for myself. Its core distinctive features:
Stores lists in plain text format that is convenient to read and edit and can be easily pulled and pushed to the device
Has just one screen - list of tasks with a small one-line form on top that lets you filter new task or add a new one (it filters as soon as you press on priority buttons or start typing the title)
Supports several task states: high-priority, low-priority, current/active (i.e. "doing now"), dropped, completed
Each task can be given extended multiline description by pressing on the list item
Sorts tasks in a complex way according to their states (e.g. high priority goes before regular, yet high priority with "current" goes before other high priority tasks)
Toggle "done" state with a checkbox near each task. Bulk-change states by long pressing an item to bring actionbar's into selection mode
The list file is saved after each change automatically; it also makes backup before every file write (pull them with adb) because I am paranoid when it comes to losing my tasks
Supports Samsung's MultiWindow SDK
Generally, the core principle is usability - similar to iOS' Reminders but less buggy (it crashed on me every other day) and more feature-rich. Still, I didn't want to make another S Planner, it's already good.
It's very much in beta state - I can easily add remaining stuff with the feedback of others (hard to convince myself to finish it ).
Stuff to-do:
Copy Menu
Share Menu
Edit task details
Dependent tasks support
Drag to reorder
Home screen widget
Photo support
Due date support
Alert device when due
File list support (open list from FS, save, copy, create)
Go to file list when click on appbar app title
Swap refresh and clean AB btns
Confirm delete or add undo
Don't just ignore on-save exceptions
Retain state on rotate
mod edit - closed as per OP request
Could you add a Google Keep sync feature?

Like I said in the first post, I don't want to load it with features you can find in other tasks. Besides, there seems to be no Google Keep API. Why don't you use Keep app itself? It's supposedly good.

The Best New Features Coming to Android N

Google has released a very early preview of Android N to developers, giving us a peek at what might be in store for the next version of Android. Here are the coolest features lurking in the preview.
Google notes that this is a very early preview, so things may change before Android N officially drops in late summer. But if nothing else, the current preview gives us an inkling of what we might see on our phones and tablets this year.
1. Split-Screen Mode
Undoubtedly the biggest new feature is split-screen multitasking, which allows you to use two apps at once side-by-side. This exists on many devices already (Samsung phones come to mind), but it’s finally coming to all Android phones with N.
2. More Powerful Notifications
The notification shade looks a bit different in Android N, but it comes with a few new features, too. Developers can now include “direct reply” feature in their apps, so you can reply to a message without opening the app itself–much like Google’s own apps can already do.
More interesting, though, are “bundled notifications”. This allows Android to group notifications from the same app together, then be expanded into individual notifications so you can see more details on the ones that interest you.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. A Better Doze for Longer Battery Life
Doze was arguably one of Marshmallow’s most interesting features, putting your phone into a deeper sleep to conserve battery life after a period of inactivity. Android N does: It’ll go into a “lighter” doze mode whenever the screen is off, then go into the normal “deep” doze when the phone has been stationary for awhile. Knowing how well Doze works on Marshmallow, we’re very excited to try out N’s doze in real-world situations.

4. An Easier, More Customizable Quick Settings Menu
In Android N, one drag opens the notification drawer, as usual–but your first five Quick Settings are available along the top, without having to drag down a second time. That’s mighty convenient. You can drag a second time to show the full drawer, as usual. But, in Android N, you can edit which Quick Settings show up in the drawer–removing ones you don’t want, or rearranging them to suit your tastes. This was possible in Marshmallow using a secret menu, but it seems this may be the default in Android N.
5. Data Saver, Call Blocking, and More
These are some of the banner features right now, as well as a few things we found after playing with the preview for ourselves. There’s a lot more in there, though–like a Data Saver mode similar to Android’s existing Battery Saver mode, designed to save you data if you get too close to your data cap. There’s also a new number blocking feature that spans across multiple apps–so if you block a number in the Dialer, it also blocks that number in Hangouts. Google’s documentation also mentions call screening, faster boot times, and a number of other under-the-hood improvements.

For now, consider this a tease of what’s to come. If you want to try the Android N preview on your Nexus device, you can do so by signing up for the over-the-air beta here–though Google notes that this is intended for developers and not for daily use.

I really wanted to check it out, but it just crashes on my box. Won't open even once. I have noticed that a lot of launchers do this, though.

Displaying apps on one raw
Hi,
Is there any option to display the apps of the selected section on only one row (in stead of spreading them on all the screen)?
This could be useful, especially on TV, when a movie or an image is already on the screen. This way, we don't hide all the screen with the app shortcuts.
Of course, this supposes that it is possible to show the launcher over an already running image (or movie) like the android tv launcher does when we hit the home button.
I tried your ugoos launcer and its good. I however settled with tv2 launcher. Reason being that tv2 launcher let me save the settings and then copy those settings to another box and import everything in few clicks. I don't have to do everything manually again and again. BUT Ugoos is still my 2nd backup option. Can become number 1 option if it has the import settings option.
I have some other ideas also..
please add recent app option
thank you!
why does there have to be a white background behind the icons ?? Background for icons would look much better being transparent. Also the launcher is supposed to automatically put apps in different categories but it does not do this at all. For example I have the chrome browser app but launcher does not put it in the internet category etc etc. For these reasons I will not be using it at all. Thanks
I just use Microsoft launcher. Seems to work fine

Looking for flexible and reliable power user web browsers. Feedback welcome.

Hello!
A succint presentation first of all:
I am a power user who likes to browse the internet desktop style, this means I use custom desktop user agent (X11; Linux x86_64). I operate in landscape most of the time and use a reduced screen dpi value for sites and apps to think my screen is a lot bigger (at times I reduce it to actual desktop monitor levels). Take a peek:

Been using Chrome for some years already, with the usual root user user agent hack and many flag optimizations. It still is a great browser imho, but it is starting to seriously stink. If I do recall correctly with the v62 update the address bar tab switching slide left/right thing received an animation which degraded its performance from flawless instant into slow piece of crap. Also at that point or some version later my keyboard's Enter/Go key started turning into Next in some search fields where it shouldn't (this is nothing major as the ALT key forces normal operation). In the recent v71 they removed the homepage links to Bookmarks :crying: and Downloads. When I downgraded from v71 to a previous version, the browser deleted all the files it had in his download history from my device's Download folder (this is super bad and a serious violation of privacy). With the very latest update which for now I am going to uninstall, they have added another stupid animation to the page search engine which of course cripples it considerably when using it in pages with a lot of content. As an example, when searching for a device in the Batteries and chargers' section at lygte-info.dk the search was instant before that upgrade downgrade, now it takes many orders of magnitude more time, i.e. it's a slow piece of sh1t.
It's going downhill or so it seems to me. What a waste of development efforts.
In essence, my question is what are the possible alternatives. I like good bookmark management (with folders and search function) and cloud syncing. I despise explicit and/or slow interface animations, I despise unnecessary crap getting in the way of my high FoV. The more flexibility and options the better.
C'mon, say something.
