Anyone else have this issue or have a work around for this?
I have a MDA II that I brought back from Germany, WM5 installed fine and used it over there for quite some time now. Got back home and signed up with Cingular and can't get it to connect to the network. I also have a MDA III, but it had no issues at all after I put on the Tuma ROM. However the MDA II is prving to be quite a challenge and I think I have tried every unlock tool, a few different ROMs but to no avail. Funny thing is, it doesn't ask for a subsidy unlock code or any unlock code for that matter, it just will not connect to the Cingular Network> Any ideas??? Anything in the registry that I missed? If so let me know...please??
Help is greatly appreciated, pointing and laughing is discouraged, but also ok. ::
Thanks,
Brian

man, i never said i was the smartest, I spent like a week in the hermes forums looking for info that I could possibly be using on my treo!!! First question is there any 750 users in Japan? Hopefully there are, I just picked mine up in HK and have been using it here in japan for about 3 weeks, I love the phone just can't seem to work the mms bugs out of it, hopefully some members are using theres in japan on softbanks service.
Hello Etriess
I been thinking of getting the 750v and have had the X01HT by SB but the unit was too slow.. Window... How is the speed of the 750V? do you have software slowdown issues? and what provider are you using? Docomo ? SB?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Catfish
Hey catfish,
I am using SB service, so I didn't have any issues when it was unlocked. I have now unlocked it and still working fine, I have not used anyother sim card except SB's. As far as speed is I haven't had another WM phone so really nothing to compare it to. I do like it, the speed to me is fine, I like my phone software to be fast, that is why I would never use a samsung phone again the software is just to dam slow, so sorry couldn't help with that question.
etriess,
I just brought over an unlocked treo 750 from the US to Japan and using with with a SB sim card. The one problem I'm having is that I can't access the internet with the phone. The direct push/email synch is working for me, but for some reason I can't access the internet. I'm currently using the Vodofone Access Point and I tried the new *99# access point, but nothing is working for me. Supposedly "open.softbank.ne.jp" used to work, but it was shutdown at the end of April. Do you information on an access point that works with the Treo 750?
I just moved back to Japan, and I have an unlocked Cingular Treo 750 (WM5). I also subscribed with Softbank, with their unlimited packet internet plan. Can anyone tell me the settings they are using for their treo 750 if they are using it with their treo? How did you configure your access point settings? I have been able to make phone calls, but I have not been able to get any data portion to work. I tried some of the suggestions on the Hermes forum, but I could not get the password necessary for the AP to work. Are you using the old cingular/vodaphone settings? Are you being billed per packet?
Thanks.
Yukster,
Did you get your problem solved? Have the same situation with you, searching a solution now for 6 months!
Opensoftbank AP Password conundrum
I am working on the solution to this problem. I think the answer lies in the WIFIwake.exe program that is available on the Hermes and Universal forums. There are three ways this problem could get solved:
1) Edit the WIFIwake.exe so that it can be used with other devices (possible I assume, because the Hermes WIFIwake is a slightly changed copy of the Universal WIFIwake) This will probably prove beyond my capabilities.
2) Get the password by looking at the code of WIFIwake.exe. I have managed to open the exe with a debugger program and there are some likely contenders. I am in the process of trying them now. Trying them all will take some time.
3) Find the guy who wrote these programs and get him to write another that is either universal or that can be used on a Treo 750. I, personally, don't want a 750, but there are more than a few Japanese users I have seen that would be interested in getting this to work.
Anything in here anyone can help me with? I need it.
it works in japan. tested by myself. (in tokyo at least)
@SirJeannot, can you be more specific? I know the 750v should work in Japan as it has the right radios, but the question is what access protocol is being used.
Can you access the internet using a softbank simcard? If so, what access point name are you using? Is it open.softbank.ne.jp? Or is it something else?
Also, can you access Softbank MMS?
Sorry, no solutions as of yet... I have temporarily given up, and bought a Sharp EM One when works on the E Mobile network. I also got a regular Softbank cellphone, (Toshiba 911T) and is patiently waiting for a solution. Right now, the Windows mobile situation is pretty bleak, with the X01HT being sold out, and its replacements being delayed for over 2 months. The solutions from wilcom is expensive and slow, being stuck on a 256 kbs PHS network, and expensive, with its unlimited data plan at over 12000 yen. At least the EM One is pretty capable, but large, and has no phone capabilities.
There is no debate that you can use the Treo 750 in Japan... I have roamed several times with it when it was with AT&T. I have put the softbank sim in, and it works fine, but the data portion did not work.

Has anyone successfully unlocked the Cingular Treo 750?? IMEI-Check doesnt recognize it and GSMLiberty doesnt either.
yeah i also would like to know...i contacted cingular and they gave me an eight digit code...i did the *#*#code#, then dial...and it give me a message "waiting" and nothing...i was on the phone with cingular for an hour and they couldnt help me...treo tech told me that it would take up to 15 min to unlock...i waited for 30 min stuck on that waiting screen...and no unlock phone...anyone got any answers??
Yep your right
I have tried both GSM Liberty and the code from Cingular and neither will work. Something is in the ROM is preventing an unlocking.
IMEI-Check has updated their software and now works with the Cingular Treo 750
Worked for me

I used http://www.nextgenserver.com to unlock my 750 from Vodafone, worked like it says on the tin. More complex than just entering a code, but easier than unlocking my wizard (but thanks to machinagod for taking the time to write the software!).
Cheers
Angus
so I got this unlocking software from this ebay seller
http://cgi.ebay.com/TREO750-REMOTE-...ryZ43312QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I follow the exact steps and when I reach the final step to unlock I got the following message
"Looking for a phone...
Can't get bootloader prompt !"
any1 know whats the problem??
I already email the seller but was just wondering if u guys have any ideas.
any help would be appreciated.
I get the same error.. they dont reply to emails so dont count on a refund.
Everyone should stay away from GSMLiberty.net too. I even paid for the unlock code from another seller on ebay, and it doesnt work either! Man, I've wasted so much money on unlocking this phone and nothing has worked.

Got mine unlocked fifteen minutes ago with no problems. Got my T-Mobile UK card in it and it's working fine.
I have run into one hitch, however: it seems as though the Web browser is hard-coded to default to Cingular's device:home page (MEdiaNet, I guess), even when there is no proxy server enabled. I've tried rooting around in the registry to see if I can find it, but nothing comes up.
I'm about to install and try Total Commander, but I've little knowledge of the program and would prefer to deal with this without its installation.
Any ideas?
It's not hard-coded, though it is loading preferences off the SIM.
You can disable the bit in the reg (check this very forum for the exact key, as I don't recall it offhand) or you can hard reset and just stick your T-Mobile card in there before putting in the Cingular one. Either method should work.
Yes, I found the solution shortly after I posted my message.
Thanks!
I followed the flash tutorial at www.fasttutorial.com to unlock treo 750 and Wizard
Hi everyone,
I love this site, and it has been very helpful with all the information.
I'm stuck in a dilemma at the moment.
I had managed to un-lock my T-mobile MDA Compact. and had been using it on O2 for more than 2 years.
Just the other day,it came up with a message saying "No Service", where it shows the network coverage.
I tried my T-mobile sim card, and that works fine.
I tried the O2 Sim in my mates phone, and thats working fine too.
I tried an Orange Sim in the MDA, and still no coverage.
Could it be that it has managed to SIM-Lock itself again?
I have downloaded the un-locking program again, and tried to un-lock it. It comes up with a message saying "phone un-locked", but still doesn't work with my O2 sim.
I need help to make it work again on O2.
Any information on this will be most appreciated.
Thanks again guys, and keep up the good work.
Cheers,
Jas
Looks like something is wrong with your simcard rather than your phone
Hi Moos,
I have tried the SIM in an un-locked Nokia, and it works perfectly.
I have dropped myself in more problems :-((
I downloaded the ROM update program from xda-developers, and tried to flash it.
It got to 3% and came up with an error message.
After that, the phone says "NO GSM" when you start it up, and won't recognize any sim at all.
I tried to update it with t-mobile's ROM from their site, and now it keeps coming up with a COUNTRY ID ERROR.
I love this phone and don't want to throw it away.
I know there's someone out there that can help me out.
Please, anyone, if you have any info, and any software I can use to flash it, help meeee!
Thanks in advance,
Jas

After spending time on the site last night, I figured out a way of flashing my ROM with the current software.
I managed to do this, and now I'm back at square 1. My phone will recognize a t-mobile SIM, but will not recognize any other SIM cards.
I have ran both versions of xdadev_all_unlock, and they both come up with a message saying that the phone has been unlocked.
But still, no joy with any other SIM cards.
I have also noticed that the IMEI number shown under phone identity is different to the number printed at the back.
As mentioned, I have been using this phone (after un-locking it on xda-developers) for more than 3 years. It has never given me any problems until now.
I contacted T-moble about this IMEI number, and they said that its the number printed on the phone that matters. DOn't worry about the number shown on the screen.
Is this true?
Please please help me out on this one.
Thanks,
Jas
Im hoping someone can shed some light on a problem that is driving me insane! I've looked/searched the forums but cant find an answer so am hoping someone will answer this thread.
I am on an orange contract so have an orange sim. Ive just been given a new 02 xda serra by my brother. (he bought it for his girlfriend but then she dumped him - her loss; my gain bless him ).
Here's the problem:
Anyway, I unpacked it, switched it on and it ran through the whole set up process and loaded 02 customisation on it. Then i put my orange sim in and is says NO SERVICE. I just get the signal icon with an x. The orange sim works in other unlocked phones. Both PAYG and contract. Other network sims also register in this XDA Serra. Ive tried Virgin, O2, Tesco and T-Mobile - all fine, connect and work fine for calls/texts. It seems that the only sim that doesnt work is Orange!!!!
Here's what Ive done to try and resolve it:
Ive been through phone settings and manually selected the orange network. I get a message saying that it is 'REGISTERING ON THE NETWORK' then after a few minutes get another message that says 'UNABLE TO REGISTER ON THE NETWORK, TRY ANOTHER PROVIDER OR SWITCH OF DATA CONNECTION AND TRY AGAIN'. Ive checked in comms and data connection is off. A message tells me that
THERE ARE NO DATA SESSIONS ACTIVE.
Ive hard reset with my orange sim in - I still got 02 setup and no service with orange. I also noticed that after hard reset it prompts for a network as part of the reconfig/setup process but all the options are O2 and appear to be PAYG. I dont know if that makes any difference. It also has an option to remove all settings, I tried this too but still get no service.
Can you help?
I want to know, if this is a setting problem that can be easily fixed? Have I got something turned on/off somewhere that if I adjust, will fix this problem? Do I need to unlock the handset? [Im a complete novice]. Or is it broken?
Failing that, is there someone around the Portsmouth/Havant/Waterlooville/Hampshire area that has experience of 'cooking' these phones and is willing to help me make it work/set it up with whatever it needs?
If it helps, when I switch it on I can see that:
R: 1.02.25.19
G: 52.33.25.17H
D: 1.90.00.00
If you need any more info please ask.
Here's hoping someone smarter than me can figure this out before I pull all my hair out and end up looking like my dad
Absolutely nothing springs to mind but to stop the O2 customisation happening after a hard reset, perform a soft reset in the three second window when it says "custom configuration" or some similar message. I used to do this on my Alpine and it left me with a working Alpine without the O2 garbage.
It's just possible that stopping the O2 stuff installing, and i am guessing that will also include network settings, may enable your orange SIM to get it's feet in the door and let it all work.
Another suggestion would be to flash it with a network neutral ROM from here. It looks as though the Serra is actually Raphael, aka Touch Pro, so go and search in there.
Good luck and persevere, you will get there.
thank you for replying to my question. I tried the hard + soft reset you suggested and it did get rid of the O2 customIsation but unfortunately I still cant get connection using my orange sim. Network still not registering. Screen shows device unlocked.
Since my original post Ive tried an orange PAYG sim rather than my contract one but still no different. So my problem remains.
Im nervous about flashing a new ROM on my own in case I screw my phone up which is why Im asking if theres anyone experienced nearby who can guide me.
Thank you for your encouragement, I will keep trying.
Hello all,
Sorry to trouble you lovely folks but I have a bit of a problem.
I have an HTC One, purchased in Australia but it came as an unlocked handset and can accept any SIM. However, upon coming home to England and putting my O2 SIM into it, I have discovered that I can not get the data connection working, although standard calls work fine.
I have taken it to the shop to get the correct APN settings entered, tried various online permuations for APNs, and spoken with O2 tech support who eventually told me to do a full reset with the O2 SIM in the phone to get it to pick up the settings (it didn't).
Sooo, I was hoping that somebody else may be able to help me? Could it be to do with my software version or localisation? Will I need to somehow root the device and install the O2 HTC One Android ROM? Or will installing stock Android ROM akin to the HTC One Google Edition likely resolve my issues? Or is something else likely the cause of my frustration?
If anybody has a clue, a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Should it be a case of needing a new ROM, then a link to the ROM download and a step by step on how to do it would be a life saver.
Thank you all in advance for your time.
:victory: :victory:
Anybody with any thoughts or advice? =)
Does anybody have any idea or suggestions on how to fix this?
Phone without data capability is epic fail -_-
Bump to see if anybody different may have an idea of how to fix no data connection problem =D
