PC application displayed on phone? - General Topics

Currently there's a freely available tool called remoteDSP.exe which allows you to not only see but also interact with your Pocket PC/Windows Mobile device via the PC's keyboard and mouse using a small display screen.
If this tool can translate mouse and keyboard input and send them via a USB connection to a paired Win Mob device it should be relatively painless to do a reverse version where the Win Mob device attaches to a pre-defined active window on the PC (Windows Media Player etc) and displays it on the mobile screen should it not?
I know the screen resolution will be drastically different but on a 320x240 mobile screen you can still effectively display Windows Movie Player at one quarter of the size of an 800x600 screen.
The only issue I can see is that the software on the phone would need to hook into a PID or a Process Name somehow.
Any ideas if there's already software to do this?

That functionality is built in by Terminal Services client and Remote Desktop.

And you can even do this over the internet with LogMeIn.

So you can specify a window to get just that window displayed on your PPC? logmein displays the entire screen, not a specified application.
As an example of the usage I'm looking for I'd like to be able to I have a monitoring program for a game and I'd like to have the game fullscreen on the PC but have teh monitoring program running in the background. The PPC would hook into the monitoring app and display it on the PPC.

For all remote viewing/controlling purposes I use VNC (in the "ultra" version) it has a lot of advantages over other solutions:
-multi platform: windows, windows mobile, palm, j2me, linux, bsd and a lot more
-free (and open source in some versions!)
-FAST!! (I tested a lot of different solutions for a company I temped at and nothing beats VNC)
If you have any questions about it I'd be happy to help.

Yes, of course you can do that with VNC.

VNC, logmein and terminal services are all good options. For local connections, there are some other apps, but I recommend these three to begin with.

I hope your screenshot is just an example vijay555. Using dreamweaver remotely must be a mayor pita. The only thing worse than that would be using Photoshop I guess

It is just an example screenshot, I generally use NVU/Notepad++

This is what you're after: http://www.innobec.com/en/index.php
It's SideWindow - it makes your cradled PPC into a second windows monitor so that you can extend your desktop to it.

WM5 Vista SideShow

Ok, does ne1 know nething on the subject, i want to get my universal setup as a side show device for windows vista, side show is a secondary display that basicly can display information easily and quickly, plus can be used for remote control features, wondering if ne1 knows nething about this
Hi Exec Man!
There was a thread on this just a short while ago, try searching (I will post a link if I run in to it)
One of the things suggested there was using LogMeIn.
Also I think an app called VNC.
n its not a vnc typ app or terminal services, this is sumthing different, these sideshow devices are gona be used as a second display on laptops and stuff, it will alow basic control of things like media player and display song and playlist info, and also display email and calander info without fully powering on the system, check out the vista website
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/features/foreveryone/sideshow.mspx
that is wat sideshow is, ther is even mention in the program on windows of using wm5 devices
thanks
I don't think there's any laptop in production that does that. Maybe after Vista goes gold some high end laptops may have that function
the laptop featured in the link is ready for release within the next 4-6 months
There is a laptop with sideshow made by asus, but itis not for sale yet
yep it is, neway is ther ne1 from the MS Team to verify this and/or give a release date of support for this feature of vista?
wm 5
WM5 devices already have most of the SideShow functions and more. One major part of sideshow is to display information from outlook. A SideShow device will alert you of new email and of upcomming appointments. WM5 devices already perform these operations.
ok, i have had my phone a long enough time and would not regard my self as a newbie, some one here must get what i mean, side show is new, please go to the link above and read what it says, also if you google it you will find alot more info, it will use gadgets like the side bar in vista and also ther will be common gadgets, 1 gadget that will interest me is the windows media one wher it shows the song and playlist info of whats playing on the computer and will allow you to control the player itself, does nebody get what i mean now?
you can do this easily with the winamp webserver plugin
http://code-magazine.com/Article.aspx?quickid=0512122
thats another link, shows some more and some concept art, hopefully explaines a bit better
Added sidwsow picture
I understan what u mean. I actually am looking for it to. It is says that it is comming to pda's and other mobile phones Was hoping someone here had some infor or even an app i could try

Hello,
I've read that i-mat will release a sideshow-renderer vor WM... perhaps it is already included in the i-mat wm6-roms...
Only some devices will support that in near future
Edit:
I-Mate currently develop sideshow capable driver for their upcoming phones
All we need for using Pocketpc/Smartphone as sideshow device first of all proper driver (hope that imate will made it soon) and connection with the vista pc usb/bluetooth(microsoft stack only)/WIFI
i mate ultimate range will all have sideshow built in, thing to do now is for someone to extract the nessecery files ad put them in a cab, wen they get ther hands on one of these devices, so is ther any word of this?
plus wm6 is the way to go now, but a version for wm5 would be good for those who havnt got wm6 on ther devices

Multiple windows in PIE

Hi all,
I'd like to now if/how it's possible to open multiple windows in Internet Explorer Mobile. I found "NoNewWindows" in de registry and changed it to 0 but that didn't change anything.
I would like to use it together with iMangager to have a tab-based browsing experience in IE.
Thanks,
Joren
I don't think PIE supports tabs. It would be sweet if it did, though.
Awwww...
But does winmo support opening the same app multiple times? Like regular windows does? (many instances of same exe)
Is there really noone who knows wether or not it's possible to open many instances of the same application in winmo?
(sorry for the bump)

Notes
This program has been developed using Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0.7045.0, which is required to run it. Only this version will work as there are numerous bugs in previous versions, as well as this one, but this is the one that is most stable and enables the functionality to open new tabs.
Favourites are managed by Pocket Internet Explorer.
There is a known issue when navigating, the back/forward buttons do not function correctly. For example, when you click on a link for the first time you should be allowed to "go back". However, due to bugs in Microsoft .NET Compact 2.0 this does not register correctly that you can "go back". However, there is a workaround, which is to go to another tab and then return. This then registers correctly.

[Q] Phone hacked/unauthorised access?

Hi XDA,
So I've have my Milestone 2 for two days and installed only a handful of apps from the Market.
However I just noticed my data usage is ~350MB with most of that usage from "Gallery" - as listed in Data Manager in Settings.
Looking in the Gallery app and there were about 6 images of chinese characters from websites like sina.cn that I didn't put there.
And their creation date was from a day ago at 4:34am :/
Any ideas and/or suggestions?
Thanks!
PS: Stuffed up original thread; this is not "[Resolved]"

Can anyone shed any light or advice?
Another bump...
Can someone suggest somewhere else this might be better asked if this is not the ideal place (Questions & Answers)?
Firewall your phone
Firewall your phone;
Airscanner Mobile Firewall
A Full-Strength Personal Firewall for Your Windows Mobile/Pocket PC handheld. Airscanner Mobile Firewall for Windows Mobile Pocket PC is a low-level, bi- directional, packet filtering firewall that examines all incoming and outgoing TCP/IP traffic. This personal firewall ensures that data is permitted based on access control lists that you select from a set of predefined filters, or from filters that you create yourself. The firewall parses packets as they come in (or go out) on the wire or over the air, and it matches the data against a rule set of ports and IP addresses, URLs, etc. Unlike some other products, Airscanner Mobile Firewall is not a simple port blocker or application port monitor. It is a true, full strength NDIS firewall powered by a custom-written packet driver for Windows CE .NET.

Q: What is this kind of picture?
A: It's a 2D barcode.
In general, 2D barcodes can encode more data than 1D barcodes of the same size and can encode the same amount of data in much less space.
Q: How can I use this picture on my phone?
A: Go to i-nigma.mobi on your mobile. I-nigma will automatically identify your handset type, download and install i-nigma. Replace .mobi with .com to goto their main website for more info
Hope this helps,

Until now I was sure that a Milestone 2 is running Android.
cobo_, search the market for droidwall or similar. I don't think that it has same features as Win products but maybe it's useful for you to avoid such things in the future. For your actual request: sorry, no clue.

[APP]Single Player Game Transmitter client for Windows Rt

I have modified the Single Player Game Transmitter client video renderer to D3D and DDRAW to increase performance on Windows RT.
http://vorphalack.com/
"The aim of this project is to allow remote desktop tramission for interactive 3d applications such as games or designer tools.
Actually, this is a small open source counterpart of streammygame.com, without any restrictions"
Single Player Game Transmitter is a free alternative to RDP and Splashtop on Windows RT for lan game play.
Benefits include:
1.low latency
2.high fps(60fps at 800*600 on Surface Rt)
NOTE:
1.the width should be 512,640,768,1024,1152,1280 for ddraw mode on Surface Rt
2.the client depth must be 16.for best performance both capture depth and client depth should be 16

I'm having a heck of a time getting this to work. Has anyone else had any luck?
Doesn't work as expected. I'm using JBroken SurfaceRT, I can run and connect it to the server in LAN but I receive a pink/green tonality stream from the server. I also installed the lastest xvid drivers on the server side PC.
Any suggestions?

You have to find out what's exactly the server address that is running the service. If server and client are on the same router and you don't remember what local IP has been assigned to your PC (server) just log in to your router main page (in most cases 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and look for LAN options, there should be all machines with the respective addresses. Once you obtained the server IP, just put it in the client gui.

Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
Thank you soo much for this wonderful Piece of app
On my device only d3d runs good, ddraw doesnt give proper Output. Also i have to set Server's capture depth to 32 and client's to 16 to see anything. As Video grabber only
d3d and gdi is supported, dshow is not. "game mode mouse" is completely inverted (left and right are switched & up and down also xD ). Also in 1024x768 the Controlling mouse-pointer is about 40pixel under the controlled mouse. (so you have to click a bit more downside than you actually want). And last but not least, a full Screen mode would be awesome. (all the games, where you move the map via mouse2border are hard to Play in a window xD
Quality and delay are AWESOME, much better than any remote-method!!! Please Keep on working on this Project, it makes our surface MUCH more usable!
Cheers
Blade
P.S.: 1 noobquestion: why does this work flawless on single-Player games (i.e. Wc3-TFT), but gives blackscreen on multiplayer games. (i.e. LoL).
i know it is called single Player game Transmitter, just wanted to know the technical Background...

[Q] [APP][2.3+] Use your phone same way like you use your PC

Hello,
I'm developing app that will turn any smartphone into desktop PC while still maintaining its functions. I use only Android operation system and I don't need any PC or notebook to make it works.
How it works?
It is very simple! For a wired connection (via a cable), all you need to do is insert your phone into a docking device; within seconds you can use your phone as a desktop computer – on the screen, you will see all programs adapted (size and interface) for use with external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. In this way, you can create texts, tables, surf the internet, and do many other things that you do on your PC or laptop. After disconnecting, simply take your phone out of the docking device and you can instantly use it as you are used to.
For a wireless connection (without a cable), all you need to do is click on a specific icon on your phone and it will connect to a television where you can use the internet, play games, watch movies, view photos, listen to MP3 files – your phone can easily become a multimedia centre. With a wireless connection, it is also possible to use all functions of your phone as with a wired connection. To disconnect, simply click on the icon. Wireless connection use Google Chromecast.

Why do I think that this is great idea?
Well because today's phone are very powerful so why not use them as primary or secondary desktop.
Where is the catch?
Atm the app is working only on my phone but I really would like, that anyone in the world could use his/her phone as desktop PC without ROOT, but for that I need great support from app developers because they need to modify their app to switch their UI when my App is running. It's little bit complicated but if it will be easy somebody already developed it.
What do you think about this app? Would you like to use your phone like desktop? The main advantage of phone is that it is small and you have it ALWAYS with you. And I'm sure that soon or later ppl will use their phone same way like their user their PC or NB, smartphones are becoming very powerfull so why not used them like desktop?

My name is Pavel Kostal, I live in Europe in Czech republic, I'm 35 years old, and I love to use all phone's functions no matter what. I started Indiegogo campaing, not beacuse I want to make money (well money are fine, but I spent already thousand of dollars for making the video, translation and for advertisement), I did it because I need great support from ppl, without them I can't finish my program but I really would like to, because I spent 3 years developing it!

If you like, I could post step by step information how to make it works on your phone using 3rd party program. Just post reply and I will make the manual, it's so easy that almost everybody could make it.
One more information. Thanks to Microsoft use phone like desktop PC will be now much more easier beacause they made release Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint with desktop (tablet) UI.
