[Q] [APP][2.3+] Use your phone same way like you use your PC - Android Apps and Games

Hello,
I'm developing app that will turn any smartphone into desktop PC while still maintaining its functions. I use only Android operation system and I don't need any PC or notebook to make it works.
How it works?
It is very simple! For a wired connection (via a cable), all you need to do is insert your phone into a docking device; within seconds you can use your phone as a desktop computer – on the screen, you will see all programs adapted (size and interface) for use with external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. In this way, you can create texts, tables, surf the internet, and do many other things that you do on your PC or laptop. After disconnecting, simply take your phone out of the docking device and you can instantly use it as you are used to.
For a wireless connection (without a cable), all you need to do is click on a specific icon on your phone and it will connect to a television where you can use the internet, play games, watch movies, view photos, listen to MP3 files – your phone can easily become a multimedia centre. With a wireless connection, it is also possible to use all functions of your phone as with a wired connection. To disconnect, simply click on the icon. Wireless connection use Google Chromecast.

Why do I think that this is great idea?
Well because today's phone are very powerful so why not use them as primary or secondary desktop.
Where is the catch?
Atm the app is working only on my phone but I really would like, that anyone in the world could use his/her phone as desktop PC without ROOT, but for that I need great support from app developers because they need to modify their app to switch their UI when my App is running. It's little bit complicated but if it will be easy somebody already developed it.
What do you think about this app? Would you like to use your phone like desktop? The main advantage of phone is that it is small and you have it ALWAYS with you. And I'm sure that soon or later ppl will use their phone same way like their user their PC or NB, smartphones are becoming very powerfull so why not used them like desktop?

Some information about me
My name is Pavel Kostal, I live in Europe in Czech republic, I'm 35 years old, and I love to use all phone's functions no matter what. I started Indiegogo campaing, not beacuse I want to make money (well money are fine, but I spent already thousand of dollars for making the video, translation and for advertisement), I did it because I need great support from ppl, without them I can't finish my program but I really would like to, because I spent 3 years developing it!
Sry for my english
Pavel

If you like, I could post step by step information how to make it works on your phone using 3rd party program. Just post reply and I will make the manual, it's so easy that almost everybody could make it.
One more information. Thanks to Microsoft use phone like desktop PC will be now much more easier beacause they made release Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint with desktop (tablet) UI.

PC application displayed on phone?

Currently there's a freely available tool called remoteDSP.exe which allows you to not only see but also interact with your Pocket PC/Windows Mobile device via the PC's keyboard and mouse using a small display screen.
If this tool can translate mouse and keyboard input and send them via a USB connection to a paired Win Mob device it should be relatively painless to do a reverse version where the Win Mob device attaches to a pre-defined active window on the PC (Windows Media Player etc) and displays it on the mobile screen should it not?
I know the screen resolution will be drastically different but on a 320x240 mobile screen you can still effectively display Windows Movie Player at one quarter of the size of an 800x600 screen.
The only issue I can see is that the software on the phone would need to hook into a PID or a Process Name somehow.
Any ideas if there's already software to do this?
That functionality is built in by Terminal Services client and Remote Desktop.
And you can even do this over the internet with LogMeIn.
So you can specify a window to get just that window displayed on your PPC? logmein displays the entire screen, not a specified application.
As an example of the usage I'm looking for I'd like to be able to I have a monitoring program for a game and I'd like to have the game fullscreen on the PC but have teh monitoring program running in the background. The PPC would hook into the monitoring app and display it on the PPC.
For all remote viewing/controlling purposes I use VNC (in the "ultra" version) it has a lot of advantages over other solutions:
-multi platform: windows, windows mobile, palm, j2me, linux, bsd and a lot more
-free (and open source in some versions!)
-FAST!! (I tested a lot of different solutions for a company I temped at and nothing beats VNC)
If you have any questions about it I'd be happy to help.

Yes, of course you can do that with VNC.
VNC, logmein and terminal services are all good options. For local connections, there are some other apps, but I recommend these three to begin with.

I hope your screenshot is just an example vijay555. Using dreamweaver remotely must be a mayor pita. The only thing worse than that would be using Photoshop I guess
It is just an example screenshot, I generally use NVU/Notepad++

This is what you're after: http://www.innobec.com/en/index.php
It's SideWindow - it makes your cradled PPC into a second windows monitor so that you can extend your desktop to it.
From the product description this...

Android replacement for HandyShopper - AndShoBBer

I was one of many satisfied HandyShopper users. Chris Antos had made the perfect
shopping app for the PalmPilot, and I even went so far to that I bought a
Windows Mobile phone because Chris had ported HandyShopper to Windows Mobile.
But enough was enough. My next phone was to be an Android - but how could I
survive without HandyShopper? I couldn't, and I couldn't find an appropriate
substitute for Android - so I had to clone it myself.
AndshoBBer is the result - currently in beta. In some ways worse, in some ways
different but in many ways inspired by HandyShopper. I hope Chris Antos sees
this as a tribute, not a plagiarism.
You may download AndShoBBer from

good idea but not for me
My wife and I really need something that's able to import our massive HandyShopper lists. ToMarket's interface is a bit unpleasant for us, but until now it's been the only thing out there.
What an Android shopping list app, or indeed any modern shopping list app, needs is sync. I really need to be able to add something to our shopping list when I'm at work and have it show up in the app on my wife's phone when she goes to the market, or my son needs to be able to add milk to my shopping list after he's used it all up (again).
A nice touch is some sort of web interface so one doesn't have to type on a teensy keyboard.
I'll give this a try.
In principle I agree with your views on sync - but at the moment I am developing for my own pleasure, and with respect to "modern" this does not include my wife, so I have no personal need for sync, so unless I can do this in an easy way (or make lots of money )....
If you or anybody else has some good input on a library to use for web sync of Android SQLite bases please let me know - then I will look into it.
Anders
Thank you, andbb! I was devasted when I moved from an HTC Aria (WinMo 6.5) running Chris's HandyShpr. I am hoping your tribute to Chris comes anywhere close to his works, as I have been through a half-dozen disappointing shopping lists.
Again, thank you!
see also: OI shopping list
For those who might prefer a different approach, "OI Shopping List" (when combined with the "OI Convert CSV" plug-in) does a decent job with import of HandyShopper CSV files.
rShopping List
I used HandyShopper on the Palm for a very long time before switching to Android.
I couldn't find an Android app with the features of HandyShopper, so I wrote my own.
You might give my app rShopping List a try.
I sorely miss HandyShopper, as does my wife.
So why are we using a shopping list app that disappoints us each time we use it? Because it syncs.
These days I think syncing is a must-have feature for a shopping app. I need to be able to add something to our mutual shopping list when I use the last of it. My wife needs to be able to add something while I'm on the way to the store. This is so vital that we'll put up with an otherwise very disappointing program that manages lists in silly and useless ways.
I have yet to find an app with the utility of HandyShopper that syncs.
As I mentioned, OI Shopping List has many features that should appeal to HandyShopper users, including importing HandyShopper data. It doesn't currently sync, but there are some GSoC students working on sync this summer.

screen mirroring

I am mainly interested in this app for the purpose of screen mirroring. I use the Torque app while in my vehicle, which also has a touchscreen Windows 8 computer. I am searching for an effective solution to mirror the screen. Since this will be used while traveling I will have to use the phone WIFI tether to enable the connection.
Does Airdroid offer a USB tether option? It would be great to have this. My monitor only has a VGA connection. If it had an HDMI connection I could just plug in a cable from the phone but it does not. I am not really worried about the FPS rate as I am not watching videos from the phone, and the lag isn't really an issue either....
Thanks
I've moved your post to this new thread.
AirDroid does offer USB tether option, just follow these steps:
1) Connect your Android to your computer with a USB cable.

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2) Enable USB tethering. The detailed steps may vary for different devices, but should be similar: Go to Settings> WIRELESS & NETWORKS> MORE> Tethering & portable hotspot and check the box next to USB tethering.
3) Open AirDroid on your device, go to Tools tab, and press Tethering. A new AirDroid url like “http://192.168.42.129:8888” will be displayed.
4) Visit the full url above on your computer web browser to start using AirDroid.
You can find it in our help center http://help.airdroid.com/customer/portal/articles/1296187-how-to-use-airdroid-without-wi-fi-or-other-network-connection
If you don't care about fps, then TeamViewer might be what you are looking for. They offer screen mirroring, but it is really laggy and way to slow to play game on, but for torque it might do the trick
Message has been Baconized
Teamviewer will be a functional solution as a base, but I would wonder if the interface will be sufficient. It's gesture controlled with a mouse-style format. If you need to interact you may well find it difficult to drive and control the unit and maintain the focus necessary to drive safely.
I don't know enough about Torque or your specific needs in regard to it to make a good assessment but do try it as Gormsen suggested and please post back some thoughts and/or details so others in your situation or similar have some info to go on. I would imagine as someone thinking about implementing your type of setup having some input before dropping significant cash on it would be tremendously helpful
Good luck..

[APP][4.0+] CopyCopy - copy, paste and keep for later across devices (launch)

Hi, I'm the founder of CopyCopy. Really interested in your feedback about our instant cloud clipboard service. This is the first time we've posted it online!
What does it do for me?
Copy & paste content between devices instantly.
Keep anything for later just by copying useful information from any app.
Simply copy anything twice, in any app and you can paste it on any device, or leave it in your CopyCopy account for future reference. We're also rolling out features to make it simple to tag and search anything that you've copied. Think of it as Pocket for your clipboard.
It works for any content - from text & photos, to web content, and files.
What the download link?
Play store link.
You can download the counterpart desktop (Mac or Windows) apps from our website.
What else can it do
Our webapp lets you view your clips from any browser, and you can tag and filter your clips to find them later (beta).
Keywords are quick way to recall any content. Assign a short alias to any clip, and whenever you copycopy that alias you can paste the associated clip. For instance, assign the word "visa" to your credit-card number and you can paste in your credit card to any payment form on any device just by copycopying the keyword "visa". Or assign an alias to a link so you can use that keyword as a bookmark from any device.
What if an app doesn't have copy & paste (e.g. Facebook)?
Install Universal Copy which allows you to copy from almost anywhere, after which you can copycopy that content and have it available on all your devices instantly! See our help article on this.
For data that you can't copy (e.g. photos, media), just share

with CopyCopy.
Will it cost me?
It free to copy for up to 50 things per month, and 5 keywords per year. All users get Pro usage for the first 30 days.
Our Pro plan has no limits and cost $1.50 month ($15/year) or refer a friend to get bonus usage.
Does it work without root?
Yes. This is an app that grandma is supposed to be able to use.
Why so many permissions?
Because of phone history function which makes it easy to copy recent actions on your phone.
We're all geeks here. Share you biggest technical challenge, please.
Staying alive on Samsung and similar phones that aggressively kill background services is difficult. We haven't really tried to solve this yet but behaviour has improved with the latest phones on Marshmallow.
Using the copy-twice method on Samsungs also doesn't work in some apps, but we're rolling out a fix for that. (And you can use the pop-up CopyCopy button, which is easier to use anyway.)
What we're asking of you
Please give us your honest feedback. We really want to hear details of how or why it'd useful to you.
i think it is great. I face the same problem.
I'm doing this for now: scroll on Facebook while chilling at home, "save link" of some cool post on mobile, -> Open the PC at the Office, find said post on saved links and share it via the page im managing.

Thanks for that that. We're interested in hearing what tools people are currently using to save stuff on their mobile, or transfer between devices and if CopyCopy sounds easier. (We think it is!)

[DESKTOP MODE] gathering info about that :)

Dear All,
I bought a oneplus7 not that long ago, and I wanted to play with the so called desktop mode. Idea is, back from work, to put the phone on a dock, being able to use my tv for browsing web with a wireless keyboard/mouse, maybe watch stupid yt video etc. Replacing my old laptop for very basic tasks.
The idea is to buy this 30euros dock station so I can have a convenient way to get internet on my tv :

So before buying any hardware stuff I wanted to know if some of them already played with this mode, does it worth giving a try or is it just too early ?
thx
Nico
So I got a Oneplus 7 and currently running Android 10. I enabled the Desktop Mode in Developers and have tried it out a little bit. For me the it isn't very usable. It is stuck in a certain resolution and I want to change it but haven't figured it out. A guy (who is busy right now until the end of the month) has been working on a launcher to use called Flow Desktop found in Google Play Store. It does have some promises and would love to see his app become more than just a concept right now.

You need the secondscreen app to change the resolution.
BTW it seems that if you want to use [email protected] there's no compatible hub yet.
So i bought a simple adapter and BT keyboard

I don't need 4k. 1080p would be nice. Do you have an app to recommend?
I've got no recommendation, Desktop Mode community is not really active for the moment. (Or a least it's just the beginning)
Here's a little something:

There is a comment about OP7Pro in the post:
"I just received my NexDock, and video works fine following above instructions. I can't figure out how to make keyboard/touchscreen work with my OP7T though. Keyboard/touchscreen work fine with a raspberry pi.
Any ideas?"
With no responses. Sad.
Anyone able and willing to create a modified version of the OnePlus Launcher with the following code implemented?
