[Q] Phone hacked/unauthorised access? - General Questions and Answers

Hi XDA,
So I've have my Milestone 2 for two days and installed only a handful of apps from the Market.
However I just noticed my data usage is ~350MB with most of that usage from "Gallery" - as listed in Data Manager in Settings.
Looking in the Gallery app and there were about 6 images of chinese characters from websites like sina.cn that I didn't put there.
And their creation date was from a day ago at 4:34am :/
Any ideas and/or suggestions?
Thanks!
PS: Stuffed up original thread; this is not "[Resolved]"

Can anyone shed any light or advice?

Another bump...
Can someone suggest somewhere else this might be better asked if this is not the ideal place (Questions & Answers)?

Firewall your phone
Firewall your phone;
Airscanner Mobile Firewall
A Full-Strength Personal Firewall for Your Windows Mobile/Pocket PC handheld. Airscanner Mobile Firewall for Windows Mobile Pocket PC is a low-level, bi- directional, packet filtering firewall that examines all incoming and outgoing TCP/IP traffic. This personal firewall ensures that data is permitted based on access control lists that you select from a set of predefined filters, or from filters that you create yourself. The firewall parses packets as they come in (or go out) on the wire or over the air, and it matches the data against a rule set of ports and IP addresses, URLs, etc. Unlike some other products, Airscanner Mobile Firewall is not a simple port blocker or application port monitor. It is a true, full strength NDIS firewall powered by a custom-written packet driver for Windows CE .NET.

Q: What is this kind of picture?
A: It's a 2D barcode.
In general, 2D barcodes can encode more data than 1D barcodes of the same size and can encode the same amount of data in much less space.
Q: How can I use this picture on my phone?
A: Go to i-nigma.mobi on your mobile. I-nigma will automatically identify your handset type, download and install i-nigma. Replace .mobi with .com to goto their main website for more info
Hope this helps,

Until now I was sure that a Milestone 2 is running Android.
cobo_, search the market for droidwall or similar. I don't think that it has same features as Win products but maybe it's useful for you to avoid such things in the future. For your actual request: sorry, no clue.

PC application displayed on phone?

Currently there's a freely available tool called remoteDSP.exe which allows you to not only see but also interact with your Pocket PC/Windows Mobile device via the PC's keyboard and mouse using a small display screen.
If this tool can translate mouse and keyboard input and send them via a USB connection to a paired Win Mob device it should be relatively painless to do a reverse version where the Win Mob device attaches to a pre-defined active window on the PC (Windows Media Player etc) and displays it on the mobile screen should it not?
I know the screen resolution will be drastically different but on a 320x240 mobile screen you can still effectively display Windows Movie Player at one quarter of the size of an 800x600 screen.
The only issue I can see is that the software on the phone would need to hook into a PID or a Process Name somehow.
Any ideas if there's already software to do this?
That functionality is built in by Terminal Services client and Remote Desktop.
And you can even do this over the internet with LogMeIn.
So you can specify a window to get just that window displayed on your PPC? logmein displays the entire screen, not a specified application.
As an example of the usage I'm looking for I'd like to be able to I have a monitoring program for a game and I'd like to have the game fullscreen on the PC but have teh monitoring program running in the background. The PPC would hook into the monitoring app and display it on the PPC.
For all remote viewing/controlling purposes I use VNC (in the "ultra" version) it has a lot of advantages over other solutions:
-multi platform: windows, windows mobile, palm, j2me, linux, bsd and a lot more
-free (and open source in some versions!)
-FAST!! (I tested a lot of different solutions for a company I temped at and nothing beats VNC)
If you have any questions about it I'd be happy to help.

Yes, of course you can do that with VNC.
VNC, logmein and terminal services are all good options. For local connections, there are some other apps, but I recommend these three to begin with.

I hope your screenshot is just an example vijay555. Using dreamweaver remotely must be a mayor pita. The only thing worse than that would be using Photoshop I guess
It is just an example screenshot, I generally use NVU/Notepad++

This is what you're after: http://www.innobec.com/en/index.php
It's SideWindow - it makes your cradled PPC into a second windows monitor so that you can extend your desktop to it.
From the product description this...

Anti-Virus and Firewall - Needed on WM?

I just installed a pretty slick little program that claims to be an antivirus, firewall, data backup, phone locator, etc. But that got me wondering... I would never ever connect my pc to the internet without heavy-duty firewall and antivirus software running. But I've never had it on my HTC HD2 running WM 6.5.5. Is it even necessary?
I've never seen an alert about a virus on this board or any blog/column sites. Is such software needed? Is it just a case of "playing it safe"?
Thought?
Thanks!
It's not really worth having any Antimalware or firewall on a Windows Mobile device. There have been very minor virus problems on Windows Mobile before, but the Antivirus applications were never any help until months after the viruses were discovered (since there are no Heuristics and the databases are generally updated monthly).
IMHO it's completely unnecessary on a phone and will only slow the device, so don't bother. Besides, while not the most elegant solution, the myriad of data/contact backup applications which could be used along side a hard reset could pretty much fix all the damage done by malware (provided the malware is not backed up as well!)
IF you plan on flashing roms at the rate of a normal member here you do not need antivirus. After a Hard reset the virus will be inoculated. Also getting a virus is very unlikely om wm.

How do I prevent the fancy unit conversion tool etc from sending my phone number and my e-mail address (real name) to the manufacturer who then sells the data?
How do I prevent various apps from connecting to the internet and wasting my data volume?

One cannot say that there are 0 viruses for WinMo, but they are so less that an anti-virus is not really required.
Just watch where from and what you are installing and you should be fine.
Thread direction seems to be right. The topic is about AVs and firewalls.
I do not believe that an AV is of major importance. But I can hardly live without a firewall.

I created an account and am fiddling around with it.
Looks good so far. One small remark, when you advertise full control, it would be nice to actually have full control.
Enabling GPS etc..
Will play around with it in the next few days and I'll report back my findings.
Please, don't take my comment the wrong way, I like what you've created so far !

Thank you very much! We will try to make our app even better.
Ad blocks are implemented by monitoring my traffic via ur VPN? and IP tables for firewall, right?
Thank you for this powerful yet simple app.
Here are my suggestions:
1. Since you have promoted "umbrella" at XDA, I hope you could add extra features for root user.
2. The "internet for browsers only" in firewall setting offers too little explanation and although I understand it, I couldn't find out the pop out explanation again after closed for the first time.
3. There are no such interface for antivirus and surveillance protection.
4. Your app does work but it doesnt look attractive. I believe the way you design your app interface is equally important in developing the features.
I believe this app will attract more user in very near future. All the best!

In the app used only local VPN, IP tables no used.
Which hosts are you using?
"Block all advertising" => How can you be 100% sure? Even YouTube videos that are monetized?
Looks promising but to little settings. A protocol would also be nice.
Its like an alternative to NetGuard.

[CLOSED][APP][Need-Help][6] VPN-Server with "Servers Ultimate Pro" - how to configure?

Hi!
The APP Servers Ultimate Pro is runs perfectly on a Samsung smartphone with Android 6. (alternative free version = Servers Ultimate )
Many servers are integrated there. You may have to install extensions. I have already got some servers up and running.
Actually not a bad thing.
Now I want to try whether a VPN server is possible with it! If so, it would be very cool! I need help with the setting!
1.) The server app also needs a "server.conf" or "server.ovpn" = in which directory does it have to be for the app?
2.) I need help with the correct structure of the Conf and how exactly to address the certificates.
3.) How many ports do I have to activate in the router and can I freely choose them?
Was unnecessary!
PLZ close / delet thread
I've been struggling with some of the configurations. I have the web server up and running with Wordpress. FTP works, IRC runs but I can't seem to get myself admin (OP) status. Email, I can't get it to connect, even with the extended ports above 1024. GIT server works, that's where I'm storing the source for my web site, the using FTP to place it in the www directory for the web server. I'm using the DNS on my HAMMESH network to point everything to the Android TV box that the Server apps are running on.
My goal is to have an Android TV box, that I can plug in to an ARDEN Network to provide a Website, local email, chat, storage sharing for disaster photos. Email is the only thing I can't get around. I also have a Le Potato Arm64 board that has Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, running ISP Config. That is my plan B. I may be better off with this route since it supports a 256GB MicroSSD card. I found an X88 TV box on Amazon that has 4GB and 32GB for $40 US, that may be plan C is I can get the email sorted out. I've tested the connection with Telnet ip_address>2525 and getting the connection refused. If I use the tools inside Servers Ultimate Pro, it talks to the email server, If I issue the EHLO command, it responds. So it appears the email server app may not actually be opening the 2525 port like it's configured to. I may try the proxy server, to see it that can route the traffic to the backplane on port 25
I'm testing against my M88 TV box and I can now test the email
