how do i hard reset my mda compact

i press soft reset and power but not hard reset mda compact 2
Yours is a MDA Compact 2, that is a Charmer, not a Magician. Yes, the manual's hardreset instrcutions are a copy-paste version from the Magician. Anyway, to hardreset, you need to hold on to the camera button as well (eg. camera + power + reset). Or probably the voice button as well. Can't remember. One will give you the bootloader screen (e.g the 3 colour screen). If you have a working window, just go to Setting->System->Clear Storage to perform a hardreset.

We got a MDA Compact II for testing at work. Worked fine, but now the device is dead slow and needs ages to start. Soft reset didnt help and the main problem is we cant get the hard reset to work. From the manual it should be the Stand By Button + Reset Button pressed. But only thing that happens is that the screen goes black, nothing else. tried to hold it for longer time but no luck. It wont hard reset. We installed Mcaffee antivirus on it, it said it was the WM5 version but the uninstaller uses unload.exe which is not WM5 conform. Cant it lock the Hard Reset??
Anybody has a clue??

Hard reset on the MDA Compact II / HTC Charmer:
Press and hold both buttons on the left hand side (camera and record).
Use stylus to depress reset button.
Release reset button - keep holding the two side buttons for a count of 4 or 5.
Press the green phone button (Send) to format the phone.

Yep - they give the instructions for hard resetting the old MDA Compact.

The camera of mine Qtek 2020 doesn't word. I don't a icon for the camera. I has gove the qtek a hard and a soft reset is do not helps. I set the new romversie on the qtek and this also don't work. Who can help me.

May be you have to open your PDA and check what is happened with the button. Seach the manual how to open your PDA completely somewhere in here
Actually it's the caused:
I was repaired the speaker, for it is been dead; unfortunately I break the button by accident

How if you let the battery drained open the battery and wait for at least 30 minutes. normaly it is used for wm2003 but I do not know whether it work on WM5 or above
no it dont because hardreset for wm5 and wm6 require a clearing of the flash storage which never loose it after when it loose power
Hi, I've received a damaged qtek s200, which has non-working touchscreen. I can only use the buttons on the bottom of the front side, which is not enough to even unlock it. From the facts I've gathered someone tried to change rom in it and damaged it. On boot it says:
IPL:2.09
SPL:2.09.0000
GSM:02.07.20
OS: 2.9.7.24
I have no experience with pdas. Please help.

first try hard reset by pressing camera button+comm manager button and reset the device keep holding the buttons down until you get the following message on the screen: "Press Send to restore factory default." At this point press Send (Green Phone). Warning this will erase all information, contacts etc. However data on the SD card will not be erased.
if the touchscreen is still not working, try to stick a softcard (business card) between the screen and the front panel because sometimes somthing like dust or dirt is puting pressure on the screen, or maybe you droped the phone and the front panel been twisted (even a little bit) and now it is pressing the screen.
if the touchscreen is still not working, try to flash a new rom to the phone by downloading it from here: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Prophet/Shipped_Complete_Updates/
if all the above is not making the touchscreen to work, so probably it is a hardware problem, and you need to send it to repair.

i have come to do a hard reset on my xdaiis and i either get a soft reset or the serial screen, is there another way to format before i upgrade?

if you have wm2005 you have to go to bootloader and format chip on disk or something
no i have wm2003 2nd edition, i am tryin to upgrade to wm2005 with no joy at all.if i hold reset/power and camera it goes into the usb screen,which will not allow me to upgrade,if i hold camera/power/reset and record it just resets.

Hold down the camera button plus the comm manager button, keep them pressed, and press RESET with the stylus. That's how you make a hard-reset.
Be aware that you will lose all data on the phone if you do it.
