I am working in the Philippines right now but run a lot of communications between clients in Taiwan for my job, so when I got the XDA mini from the local telco (SMART), I flashed it with the Dopod 818 1.11 CHT rom so that I can send chinese sms out.
Issue now is the SMART MMS/GPRS settings are not in auto-config. Unfortunately Smart doesn't provide those settings on their website and the last thing I want to do is to call them and tell them I flashed my rom.
Is there any other way to add those settings to auto-config short of cooking a customed extended_rom?
Would also like to have all the settings for the other telcos in Asia since I travel around a lot and juggle a gazillion sim cards.
Looked at the forum and only thing close I could come to is the Ext_Rom kitchen section in the BlueAngle wiki
any suggestions?
On HTC’s Windows Mobile 2005 devices updated with the AKU2 firmware it was possible to invoke the Engineering Test Mode (Engineering Mode) by doing the following:
1. Adding the following keys to HKLM\Software\HTC\EngineerMode:
"BuildInEngineeringModeApp"=dword:00000000
"LaunchEngineerModeAppDialStr"="*#*#364#*#*"
2. Saving file GSMTestMode.exe to /Windows and starting it after having rebooted the device

The HTC Engineer Mode presents a lot of operating parameters of technical values (not so detailed but similar as in Nokia’s Monitormode menus).

However on the HTC TyTN the Engineering Mode no longer works.
If invoked the screen looks like that (see attached image).
Could anybody try to find out the reason why it does no longer work and try on a workaround ?
Maybe there is information leaked from HTC or maybe there is even a new Engineering Mode application available ?
Who could succeed in doing that ?

personally i think it might be like that because of different hardware structure of Hermes/TyTN, comparing to Wizard. it has UMTS/HSDPA module, which can reflect software part and necessary dll's. maybe it's worth to browse \Windows folder looking for any .exe at least looking like GSMTestMode, so it might be replacement fot it?

Hermes has the best engineering mode I've ever seen. It is within the windows folder called fieldtest. It does GSM, EDGE, AMR, UMTS and HSDPA. I used it to test the Cingular network.

I just got the radio, not a WM6.x ROM image
I have 2 kaisers, 1 is emobile, the other is from HTC (so carrier independent-i was using softbank). The ROM installs fine on both, but i can only get phone and internet on the emobile. When i put the emobile sim in the kaiser from HTC, phone and internet doesn't work. I guess the 1.7mhz is hardware dependent instead of ROM/Radio dependent. Hope this info helps...

How do I know that my Radio Version is compatable with my region coverage. I live in Sweden and I have 2.11.50.20 radio. The only problem I have is unable to send SMSs to other middle east countries.
My great appreciations to whom offer help.
A good place to start is to look through the Radio thread in the device specific forum and look for users with same credentials but even then the only way to find the best radio for device is to flash and test since so many variables Carrier/Location then Signal/Data Speed/GPS Fix/Battery Life etc.
Tried to search the answer to my question, but cant find it anywhere.
I need to upgrade my current PDA because of specialised software, I need windows mobile 6.1 - 6.5, and while I am about it wi-fi may be a good idea. Because I am looking at an obsolete product the manufactures are of no help to me.
Been looking at eBay at HP Ipac's as there are so may to choose from.
My question is how do the model numbers relate to the age of the Ipac and its operating system, so I dont end up with something that wont do the job?
