Hi!
New to this forum and new to the wonderful world of Windows Mobile.
Coming from a palm-world where most things just tend to work, this has been somewhat of a reminder of the early Windows desktop days.
I'm having some issues (One of these issues made me choose this forum, if this was in error, I apologize in advance).
1. Active sync worked once, but never again.
It seems the mp3-files I added (251 of them), makes active sync just time-out in the media stage. I have not found a way to remove media from active sync either to confirm this. I cannot access settings since it times out with the sync. Edit: The media-row in the active-sync window also states that the installation has to be completed first. Which it already has.
2. Media player does not add files to library.
I do the file-search and it finds 251 files on the SD-card, makes a slight paus and finds 4 more files. Then it adds only those 4 files. accessing the storage card in the library and my music only produces an unexpected error. I have not tried to empty and reformat, or a lower file-count just yet. But to me this seems like a bug that not only scans the storage-card but also the device and then only adds what's on the device. What is added is 4 ring-tones.
3. A2DP...
Well, I read the instructions on the two threads dedicated to this, but it does me no good since I find no files in either of them. I am willing to host those files for you if needed by the way. I really want A2DP since I already got the Jabra BT-620s.
4. Not a real important one but, overclocking.
I ran the OMAP_TI_Overclock thingie, but absolutely nothing changes. Still 195 Mhz whatever I do. I find people have fall-backs in a few minutes or after reset, but this is immediate. The utility says it sets the clock and that the current clock has changed, but as soon as I go to the system-info it says 195. And starting the utility again it says it set as 180 (which according to the system obviously equals 195 ).
These are the current obstacles to overcome before I turn to media-control from the headset, and other more daily handling stuff that obviously already works fine (Voice-control, and contacts and stuff)
There was something more, but I forgot. I'll return to that. Now I'm off to the golf course hoping for some good advice to start pouring in...
Best Regards
Bo Eriksson
1. Buy a card-reader. They're cheap and save your nerves as AS 4.1 is EXTREMELY unstable comparing to 3.8 one
2. Dunno.
3. Try reading again. Works just fine
4. In the ABOUT info you'kk never see the change as it's not a monitor of CPU but the info contained like plain TXT. as for the program use action-set clock - and then action-exit. If you do load it before you turn Prophet off you'll see the clock is still in there
About #1:
Yes, I have several. More than I have computers actually, which is a lot!
Not that more helps in this case. I got my S200 Yesterday so I am really only starting out to get things going. This is just my initial small problems. I just find it frustrating that I cannot change what will be synced with Active sync until a sync is successfully completed, which is never. So We'll see how I solve that one...
About #4:
Is there a real system info utility around?
About #3:
I am sure it works fine. I just cannot find the needed files. They're nowhere around for download. At least not in the threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=43992&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=225
And:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=275438#275438
So if you know where they are (Especially the one talked about in the first thread), please direct me towards them.
Best regards

1. I just mean uploading thru AS WAS ALWAYS laggy and still is unles you do upload small files.
4. Why would you want one, you just see it working faster.
3. I attached both files zipped for you.
Ok, I got A2DP working now, Great, and thanks. I didn't realize the files only were visible while logged in , yup real newbie-alert .
And I installed Resco Explorer to do things more easily.
What remains is the problem with my Media library.
I cannot fathom what's going on. It's like this. I have 221 files on the storage card, and the system has 4 on the device itself. It scans both and lists 225 as found, then it takes a good 3 minutes adding files. Then it reports 4 files added. And only the library on my device shows anything (The four ringtones) trying to access the storage card library only results in an error.
Still, I can just click any of the files in the explorer and it plays perfectly (now in glorious wireless stereo!)... So there's nothing wrong with the card and the files. It's just the Library update thingy that fails me.

I solved the Media Library thing.
I started deleting albums and doing new updates, but still no luck even down to one single MP3. So then I remembered something someone said in a thread somewhere about the MSMETADATA folder containing the library, so I simply removed it from the storage card and updated the library again. Voila! Now it works!
From now on I will only add a smaller number of files at a time, doing new library updates...
So now it's only the Active Sync problem remaining.
I just can't get it to work anymore. I tried reinstalling it late yesterday, but no luck...

I'm having a serious problem with Windows Mobile 6.1 on my HTC x7510. I can run programs with ease, but every time I run and exit some programs, my phone slows down A LOT. The only way I can get my phone running at normal speed again is to soft reset. One of the programs causing this is Skyfire browser but there are some others. Do you have a solution for this?
What version of ROM in your x7510? I have some problems with the decline in available RAM after use programs, but the device does not slow down. Maybe you are not closing completely the started programs?
This could happen if the program being closed doesn't exit properly.
This definitely happens with iGO8 R3 Sat Nav- the program ostensibly exits, but continues to hold onto 20MB of RAM until a soft reset. Even a memory manager/ RAM cleaner can't retrieve it. Possibly Skyfire does the same thing? Opera also remains in memory sometimes, even if 'closed'.
Yes, the programs are iGO8 8.3 and Skyfire. I don't have any problems until they are running but they slow down the device when I exit them. Some incomplete operation or registry malfunction happens during the exit. I will check the ROM but it is the factory default one.
The iGO8 issue is a known problem (I'm user testing for NNG at present and there is not a fix yet)
The only fix is to do a soft reset after exiting iGO. This only happens with iGO8 R3. Unfortunately the locked memory is invisible to the OS and memory managers so there is no way to reclaim it without the soft reset.
Skyfire is not known for this, but maybe in conjunction with iGO, it is just grabbing too much memory? Hopefully NNG will have a fix before long
Thanks, Neil. Please let me know here if there is a solution.
The workaround solution I found is to leave iGO 8.3 running in the background, which does not slows down the device. So, I have it in the tray running all the time.

I am using iGO8 version 6.00.49545 (July 30, 2008). I don't have that problem. I also have TomTom installed and they both work fine. Memory goes back to what it used to be before I start the application, right after I close them. No soft reset needed.
I am using Opera 9.5 version 15746 stored and run from the flash disk, again I don't have the memory hogging issues. I also have Opera Cache directed to my flash disk, so it won't eat up internal memory.
Yes- it only happens with the new R3 version which has not yet been commercially released, but which of course has been available through 'other channels' for some time.
I'm using iGO8 V8.3.2.64873

Yes, definitely, you can use them if you install them on your Flash Disk.
I have all my applications installed in my Flash Disk, with a few exceptions. The only applications I install in the Main Memory are those that I would need even though I am accessing the Flash Disk via USB. But definitely, all GAMES and HUGE applications are installed on my Flash Disk.
How do you direct Opera Cache to the flash disk?

I used SKTools which has an option that allow you to choose to which folder you can save Opera Cache. But, I did not just assign it, I also moved the Opera Cache folder first using SKTools.
Steps:
1) I moved Opera Cache folder from My Device/Applications/Opera/Cache to Flash Disk/Program Files/Opera using SKTools "move data folder and files" function. Doing this first changes or fixes any registry settings that might conflict with step 2.
2) I went into SKTools settings and assigned the folder Flash Disk/Program Files/Opera/Cache as my designated Opera Cache folder.
Simple and works wonders.
OK im annoyed now - i flashed a new rom last month and it was beautiful up until last week ish when all my streaming apps just stopped working claiming that 'Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.' - i get this error message (or variations) in rss hub, windows media player, TCPMP, the streaming media app, youtube video just fails, and others. really starting to p*** me off now as i cant do anything with my phone
i have over a gig free on the storage card and over 200mb free of internal flash - what the hell is going on!?
if anyone can shed some light on this i would be most grateful
cheers

ok well i give up forum searches have suggested the only 'fix' is to hard reset. lol that totally sucks i havent figured out whats causing it - one day it was working - the next it wasnt im gonna flash genesis tonight sod it so im banking on that clearing it out - hope this doesnt happen again
Edit - nevermind.
Dunno what's going on, but maybe you needed to check your temp folders. I've found big files in \windows\temp before after streaming hulu and other videos.
Get a memory management software like Memaid or Advacnced Config. and be sure everything except for PIE cahes to your storage card.
Then clean your system.
Thanks for the suggestions guys - i re-flashed in the end but if it happens again ill do as you suggest - though im pretty sure i had loads of space free on the flash and sd as well as ram
cheers!
Are you sure the message was for storage memory and not just memory? You can run out of virtual program memory pretty easily on a lot of roms (just read the 6.5 thread in hacking), even if you have plenty of free ram.
the message i got was exactly as is displayed in the topic of this thread - nice and vague isnt it ^^;
im pretty sure there were no memory issues of any kind on the device at the time of the problem - everything worked apart from streaming - pretty sure the OS got itself confused somehow - hohum!
Try creating a folder in \windows called "cache". Then see if junk appears there (it may require a reset to work). In sk tools, it shows \windows\cache as a junk directory, but I think you have to create the folder to see it.
thats quite an ingenious suggestion - if it happens again ill have a look and report the findings ^^;
cheers

Don't get too excited yet, lol. Yesterday, I downloaded some youtube vids to main memory and then cut and paste them to my sd card. But the memory wasn't released for whatever reason, even though the files weren't showing up anymore. I deleted them with sk tools, but didn't think of making the cache folder til later. I haven't been able to replicate the un-released memory since then.
Ok, so I was messing around with youtube (watching Danger Island, lol). I found that if I opened total commander w/o closing youtube (used voice command), there are a bunch of temp files in the windows\youtube folder. There was a 3 MB .dat file and a 10 MB temp.3GP file. The latter was clearly the video. When I closed youtube, all the temp files disappeared. I suspect that something is going wonky with your temp files clearing out, or that watching big streaming vids dumps a massive file into main memory that gives the errors. The only way to find them is to look while the streaming app is running. (You can pause it, I'm sure).
(Leo youtube app, not sure if its the same)
So yeah my 512mb of ROM is getting pretty full with me installing loads new apps. I went onto the youtube app and as soon as I load it up I get an error message saying Warning storage is full and when I tap ok, the program closes so I dont get the chance to change the storage settings to my memory card (if thats the problem) So I deleted some temporary files in the youtubes program folder and I even uninstalled a few apps but I still get that problem...
any ideas on what to do?
I'm experiencing the same kind of problem, with the same message only in dutch: "opslag is vol".. I haven't found a solution jet..
But i have it since a day, and i have plenty of memory available on my Leo..
I'm on stock 1.48 rom...
I'd hate to hard reset my phone :S.. But if i can't figure it out is a good start a nice cooked rom mabye
go to file explorer/windows/youtube. there should be a lot of files there. delete those and it should work. i had the same problem and after i deleted those files, its working again.

Yes marctown78, i did what you said and it works, thank you very much. btw, i did not delete them one by one. I use "select all", which include those "favorite" and "channel" folders, and deleted them all. and the youtube still works fine.

btw, you mentioned you can "change the storage settings to my memory card", how exactly can you do it? I tried but seems there is no such setting in youtube.
I also deleted everything (including the favourite, search, history and channel) folders and still I am getting the warning!
I'm still having the same problem with my HD 2. Have followed the above steps but no joy. any other suggestions? thanks in advance.

i used to get this, i used the cleanram program to clear down any unneeded processes and woulod fix the issue, i have a schedule set up which runs the cleanram program every day and havent had the issue since.
Cheers. I did try this but it didn't seem to work straight off.
For some reason it is now functioning again.
had that problem too but it is storage memory not program memory u have to have about 10mb of free space available for youtube to run kinda strange though but thats what I figure out, what I do is install the apps that I like on memory card and the ones that r essential to phone memory so I have more free space.

I deleted everything (including the favourite, search, history and channel) folders. I installed "Cleanram" and made a 3rd level clean but I am still getting the warning!
It's working again, thanks to Kikill

Thanks Kikill, I tried to delete inside youtube folder only; it does not work(I only have 7mb left in my device, 6mb before the deletion inside youtube folder), it TURNS OUT as per your suggestion, we need extra space.
The day before my youtube was working, and I downloaded some movies that were stored in my device, and suddenly my youtube is not working; thus, I clean up my other folders as well and get around 60mb back and this time it is back to normal.

I tried this also but there is no option in youtube, I've looked through the registry and can only find in
HKLM-SOFTWARE-HTC-YOUTUBE-TempFileLocation
but don't know what to do from there, can someone enlighten me?
thanks in advance!
Im getting this error on my wifes HD2
Any real solution yet
storage is full
same problem!
Like an idiot, I did exactly like was suggested (deleted everything in the Youtube folder, without backup) and it still doesn't work.
Anyone else have any ideas?
same problem
same problem. Although i use cleanram regulary but still get the problem .
Youtube app Does not open storage is full
Well i recently have this problem on my HD2, after some testing i found that the app needs 10mb of free space on device storage to run, if you have less you will get the error.
I noticed strange behaviour few days ago. In internal storage I creeated folder Apk where I am storing some downloaded apps for offline instalations in case I need them again. But every little apps are missing. For example today morning I have 47 apk files and right now there are only 7. Also I noticed that folder named RecycleBinHW is increasing so I assume that files are moved there somehow??? Before this phone owned Samsung phones for last 6 years and never experienced such issues. How to stop this weird action of my phone and did anybody else have same problem?

Have you tried resetting the phone, to see if it makes a difference? Maybe worth getting a USB C pen to save APK's to? I know that Huawei have Petal Search which searches for all the APK's you need. Could save sometime?
I already have those apk files stored on ext. USB but I want to find how this could be possible... I am testing now - was created new folder with different name and put same files inside... I don't have installed any security app which can detect such apk files as potencialy unsafe...
Change settings in optimizer app. It’s set by default to auto clean.
Many thanks! Yes, optimizer was doing mess, I found and recovered files and disabled cleaning for future. I am using SD Maid for such purposes. this Optimizer is new for me because it is my first Huawei phone.
Hi, today phone again erased most of apk files from my folder. Before I disabled auto clean, I don't know how this reactivated again. Now, I don't know how to recover files, I can not find them anymore, it seems that this Optmizer app change settings in latest update or something. I am really pissed of with this app... Need any help!
I am still having this problem and it seems that other Huawei users have same issues: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-20-pro/help/mate-20-pro-delete-apps-apk-backup-t3916434
yeah same here.. i zip them and stay there.. only solution i ve thought
I never experienced such issue with any device in last 10 years since I am using Android phones. It is really makes me crazy. In Optimizer I disabled everything I could. This morning I downloaded few apk files and I just found that all gone from my folder... Unbelivable that I can not control my own phone...
Hello mates, same problem with my P30 and Optimizer app. It randomly erases some files that are recognized as junk but they aren't junk and not just apk files. I read that solution to remove Optimizer with ADB isn't the smartest idea. I disabled Optimizer settings to do "Auto-clean junk files". Is is enough or I could do something else?
