Hi all
I posted this in "General" but no one seems to want to answer. Thought I'd try you guys.
I need some files from WM5 QVGA version for my Real VGA hack. Can someone accomodate me?
The files I need are:
browsres.96.dll
coreres.96.dll
exappres.96.dll
instmsgrresources.96.dll
miscres.96.dll
msim.96.dll
officeres.96.dll
outres.96.dll
pegcards.96.dll
pmsnresources.96.dll
pptres.96.dll
riresdll.96.dll
shellres.96.dll
shellresapps.96.dll
syncres.96.dll
tapres.96.dll
trares0409.96.dll
tshres.96.dll
Most of these files will be locked so I expect I need someone who knows how to rip the files from the rom image directly (or tell me how to do it).
Thanks for any help.
Does no one want to help? The Universal forum are pestering me to finish this hack but I can't until I get those files.
I'll post a link to a .rar file for you in a few minute ... be patient
Thanks mate.
You are a star.
ok , you can download the archive here
miscres.96.dll , pegcards.96.dll and syncres.96.dll don't exist in my himalaya ... i'have put in the archive the normal dll ...
That is excellent.
I figured that some of the files might not be suffixed with .96 but didn't know for sure.
Once again, thanks for your time on this. Will let you know how it goes.

Mate,
Where can download the Ver 3.0(build 210801)
tell us how to get it off the phone and ill upload it!
u hv to hard reset the device 1st if u wan to get accessed to the ext rom.. so can u think of any way to make ur fren device hard reset....?
Hard resetting a friends device is always fun But if you don't really feel like it, you can just run the file windows/loadvdisk.exe instead, to gain access to the Extended_ROM folder. At least that's how it works on the Magician...
somebody needs to explain slowly, what exacly step by step does he need to do? Cheers
mayb u should use HBK method.. if there is loadvdisk.exe in the /windows directory of ur friend device.. after that u will c a folder named ext_ROM appear.. choose that folder n find for .cab file that u think that it sounds like camera file... gud luck
Hey,
How abt copying the exe file from windows folder and replace it to the older version exe.. Be sure to take a backup before replacing
Cheers..
Just copy the camera.exe from \windows to your desktop with Act.Sync & attach it to the board. No need for a cab, on the magician it's a single executable, proba. on the WM2005 version too. I doubt it will work on a magician under WM2003, but I'll give it a try!!!!
hes only got the upgraded mda compact its still running wm2003
so have u tried the method mentioned above to get the camera file?
WM2003SE is great news in this. Though I didn't notice major improvements in the camera builds between rom 1.12 & 1.13.
Maybe build 3.......?
any news???
greetings from berlin
yes! i transferd the camera.exe onto my phone and it doesnt work. It ajusts the brightness on the screen and rotates it but thats as far as it gets.
Just getting him to install resco to get the cab file
further update - he doesnt have loadvdisk on his.
we tried to copy over the dlls that go with the camera but neither resco or over activesync will let him do it... so were stuck!
-edit
weve got
camera.exe
CameraPictureDLL.dll
CameraVideoDLL.dll
he says theres no more camera related files on his, where as mine has camera_sensor.dll and one or two others.
ive coped these files over and it still does the same thing, rotates the screen ajusts the brightness then stops.
Im not gonna upload the files into this thread as i dont want cause confusion with people thinking its a working version (no matter how many times i say it doesnt work people will still asume it does!)
If anybody wants a copy of the files though pm me and ill give you a link
Loadvdisk.exe ia hidden-, system-, rom file. So get your settings correct.
??? how do i do that?

Try to rename that for example camera.ex_ , then it might be two files copy one of them which could copy or do soft reset & move your renamed camera.ex_ to as
Ryanmt.. b4 that try to look again for the resco explorer settings so that u can view all hidden files in the \windows dir.. after that locate the loadvdisk in the \windows n click it... after that a folder named Extended_ROM will appear.. try this 1st
when i use the file explorer and go to my windows folder, i cannot delete the cabs for games that i have. i'm guessing there is a way around this, i just don't know it. and do i need these cabs for the games to work? i think it's just the installer for the game, right? it's taking up unnecessary space on my phone. any help is much appreciated.
Anything in the windows folder, the OS considers a system file. To delete it you need a 3rd party file explorer like Resco.
my hero! lol thanks
Hi,
Iwant to cook a rom and i want to add/ remove somme exe & dll.
Example: How to remove explorer.exe and replace it to total commander.exe ?
Is it possible?
Thx a lot
it's possible, but I would NOT try it
also, to answer your question: all files are automatically dumped into the Windows folder by default, so just edit anything

You probobly wount get a one solve all solution since the apps are working diffrently. For youre example there is no need to remove if the purpose is just to reprogram how file extinction is handled. Basicly you remove a code and file and replace it whit anotherone, operation itself is easy. The tricky part is to get it working stable on all areas, remember one aplication is depending/working togheter whit another one. Now if you remove it you need to reconfigure how that string is handled whit another solution.
A good example is removing mediaplayer, possible. But hell

8MB does not sound right. Which kitchen are you using?
I know that the prograns cooked by the chefs in their ROMs can't be uninstalled by simple going do the "Remove Programs" button on the Settings part of the ROM.
I want to know if there is a way to uninstall some programs cooked in the ROMs BEFORE flashing them into Kaiser...
Is there any program that can easily do this?
Is it safe?
Can it be done without major knowlowedge of the cooking/programming processes?
Since I use the ROMs in Brazil, some of the programs that usually comes cooked in the ROMs are pretty much uselles here (e.g., that one that "reads" the name of the contact that's calling).
Usually I just disable then, but it is kind of a waste of space leaving them there without using.
I would like to know the answer as well

So, if there's no easy way, can anyone point the "hard" way to do this?
The process of cooking this programs in the ROMs are THAT complicated?

Hi there,
I would use a ROM Image Editor software.
Search for htcRIE_0.4.0.51.exe. open the .nbh file and you will see all the
files included in the ROM. Some files you can delete without having to worry about anything. Give it a try.
I don't take any responsibility if you modify/delete files and it breaks your phone.
Good Luck.

Thank you! I'll look for it.
But the chance of breaking the phone is relevant? I mean, why deleting some third party app files prevent me from flashing another ROM later, if anything goes wrong?
I don't want to deal with anything related to the OS itself, just eventual softwares installed, like MS Voice Command or RSS Hub.
If the only way is to delete file by file I'm note too sure if it is worth the work...
I honestly toought that there was a program that you could open the .nbh file and it would show the installed prograns and the option to remove them.

not worth the work???? what work??? u open the nbh file, u select the file, and u delete it. much less work than actually recooking the rom.
i use htcrie all the time, and i've screwed up many many times. If u screwed it up, and deleted something that you shouldnt......then just start again from a copy of the original and make sure u dont delete it.
or, the 'easy' way (and most chefs provide this) is to flash a 'lite' or 'naked' version of the rom series, then add the crap you DO want. or, download a kitchen and cook your own!

But I believe that most of these programs are not in one simple file... Or are they?
I though that the process of deleting the files would implie deleting ALL the files related to the program.
Some of them put files in the '/Windows' folder, '/My Documents' folder and so on...

Well, first of all, not every chef makes naked ROMs. Second, I usually DO want 90% of what comes in the ROMs, and want to delete one or two programs. So, flashing naked ROMs to install EVERYTHING else is a option that I don't want do consider...
About cooking a ROM, I would do it if I have the time to learn everything about it. Since I can't do it with the knolowedge I have and don't have enought time to learn it all, I'm tryng to find one alternative that can solve my problem.
so you delete ALL the files associated with that program then.

Are you trying to have a thread "How to brick your device" ?
That's a perfect one

Ok, but how can I see the list of files associated with that program? The softs you pointed show what files are related to each program?
If there is no other way, I'm going to try deleting everything.

Hehehe... Don't even joke about it!
As I said, I just want to delete SOME files of THIRD PARTY softs. I'm going to stay the hell away of any file related to the OS itself.
And I really can't see why this could brick my device... Since any problem will occur only in the ROM itself, I'll probably be able to reflash another ROM...
I wanted to cook a ROM myself, in portuguese and with the programs I use, but I just don't have enought time right now to do this...

You will see the .exe .lnk some more have more file but most will be the .exe thats the bulk, i had look @ prog and seems pretty simple, yet not going to as Tilt has enough storage memory for me just to hide .lnk's and not worry

That's what I though after I post my reply... Probably only the .exe is memory consuming, the rest is useles but very small files too.
I'm going to try this...

Get a M2D .cab and crack it open with WinCe Cab Manager or the likes and you will be able to see.
