u hv to hard reset the device 1st if u wan to get accessed to the ext rom.. so can u think of any way to make ur fren device hard reset....?
Hard resetting a friends device is always fun But if you don't really feel like it, you can just run the file windows/loadvdisk.exe instead, to gain access to the Extended_ROM folder. At least that's how it works on the Magician...

mayb u should use HBK method.. if there is loadvdisk.exe in the /windows directory of ur friend device.. after that u will c a folder named ext_ROM appear.. choose that folder n find for .cab file that u think that it sounds like camera file... gud luck

Just copy the camera.exe from \windows to your desktop with Act.Sync & attach it to the board. No need for a cab, on the magician it's a single executable, proba. on the WM2005 version too. I doubt it will work on a magician under WM2003, but I'll give it a try!!!!

WM2003SE is great news in this. Though I didn't notice major improvements in the camera builds between rom 1.12 & 1.13.

yes! i transferd the camera.exe onto my phone and it doesnt work. It ajusts the brightness on the screen and rotates it but thats as far as it gets.
Just getting him to install resco to get the cab file
further update - he doesnt have loadvdisk on his.
we tried to copy over the dlls that go with the camera but neither resco or over activesync will let him do it... so were stuck!

ive coped these files over and it still does the same thing, rotates the screen ajusts the brightness then stops.
Im not gonna upload the files into this thread as i dont want cause confusion with people thinking its a working version (no matter how many times i say it doesnt work people will still asume it does!)

Try to rename that for example camera.ex_ , then it might be two files copy one of them which could copy or do soft reset & move your renamed camera.ex_ to as
Ryanmt.. b4 that try to look again for the resco explorer settings so that u can view all hidden files in the \windows dir.. after that locate the loadvdisk in the \windows n click it... after that a folder named Extended_ROM will appear.. try this 1st

The Arcsoft mms composer has been extracted from the Universal rom and a cab file was cerated to work with WM 5.0 Blueangel devices.
However this cab won't install on Himalaya devices.
This is because of the following two files
ArcMMS.dll cause the install stop wis message : bla bla bla not digitally signed bla bla bla
RcDll.dll cause the install stop and prompt to install in another place , and again , and again .
TofClock has created his own cab file (which I have now updated to ncruz newest versions) with all other files and reg settings ...
Attached to this post is are two RAR files containing a cab file and 2 dll files.
To install, follow these instructions :
1. Download Himalaya_WM5_MMS.part1.rar and Himalaya_WM5_MMS.part2.rar from this post.
2. Decompress the rar file on your PC using winrar or something similar
3. Soft reset your Himlaya
4. Copy RcDll.dll and ArcMMS.dll to your Windows directory on your Himalaya
5. Copy the cab file to your Himalaya and install it.
6. Soft-reset your device again
7. After this , go the messaging application. click on Inbox you should see a new account there called MMS.
If not click on Menu>Tools>New Account
Create a dummy email account (it doesn't matter what info you fill in, just make it up) but at the Account information select MMS as the account type and click next.
Then finish going through the account creation, again for the server information making anything up.
8. Once that is completed clock on Menu>MMS Configuration then click the servers tab.
9. From here fill in your operators server settings (remember to set it as default!) and enjoy MMS on WM5.0!!
Again thanks sooo much for everyone's hard work in getting this working, especially ncruz for the initial work and the BA cab and TofClock for making the Himalaya cab file.
Great, just another thing, thoose files aren't from universal.
First, thoose files are from MY POST, i've reshacked thoose files for qvga devices, so it really pisses me off when people take credits for things they don't to.
Second, at least use my latest rcdll.dll see my post at BA forum.
The one that's in THAT cab has some huge icons. and i have hacked it a little bit more.
Third, i've already resolved the problem of having to create the account by hand.
So, if you really want to do the thing right, get the cab at my post, open wincecab editor, remove rcdll.dll and arcmms.dll, install the cab, then copy the files you've just removed and copy them to \windows.
PS: you can check the original files from universal and see that they aren't the same.
everythin is done as explained before, and no mms account appears

Have you tried this previously using ncruz manual installation?
I had trouble with that method and once I tried it even after I used the cab file it wouldn't work I had to hard reset my device and do it again.
If you did try the manual install first then you may have to do the same, it certainly worked for me anyway.
As his cab file worked great once I had removed the two dll files and had done a hard reset.
Of course if you havn't tried the manual installation previously then it could be anything you might need to give more info on what ROM version you're using, software you have installed etc...

However I also left mjames .dll files there deleted his cab file and used TofClocks' cab file and I now have working MMS.

i have xda2 win2005 1.60c
i downloaded both the rar files unrared these in two dif folders one is called part 1 and the other part2
then i softreset my xda
then i coppied dll files from part1 folder
then i try to install the cab file coopied from my pc to xda
i try to install on system
but message comes up says that MMS.... can not be install
am i doing something wrong here
and y there are two rar files containig the same files

I have updated to 1.13 Big Storage, and now im missing a few tiny but helpful things.
before my jump to 1.13 i noticed my GPRS icon had a 'disconnect' button, now on 1.13BS it doesnt, so i find it hard to disconnect my GPRS connection, i dont like having it on all the time, only as and when.
Have i not installed something from the extended rom to fix this?
Also, how can i change the MMS/SMS/Email and Ringtones. I want to use mp3 tones for all, on the SPV C500 it was a reg hack that fixed this, is this the same?

You're now experiencing plain WM2003 :-(
So go for the reg.hack for mp3 ringtone selection or put them manually in the rings folder.
GPRS disconnect is the same or you get the cab from the ori. ext-rom to get the disconnect button in the bubble or you use spb pocket tips&trucs to add it or push the red disconnect button for a few seconds.
So everything you mentioned isn't plain WM2003, but very handy indeed. Which means the providers are sometimes useful.

another bug/problem ive found, is im only getting 70 characters on Certain sms messages, i think. when i Reply this happens.
The red button to disconnect a phone call.
Seems like you are using unicode in your sms replies these double byte characters are using your precious sms space. You can turn them off, but don't rember how. It has been discussed many times before, so a search on unicode should help you.

ive worked out that my SMS allowance (usually 160 chars) is cut to 70 if i use a ' or any form of strange punctuation.
i was writing 'whats the weather like' and it automatically changed it to 'what's the weather like' i noticed id been cut to 70 chars, but deleted the
' in "what's" and i got my 160 char limit back, freaky! but how can we fix it? or is it just me?

Now to mine, i read ampda' ting and found tat i need an mmc reader.. bt i don have it and heard somewer someone who told tat u cld do it wit usb itself if u already have a patched file... can yu help me pls...
For an update to rom 1.13BS go to the thread about upgrading to 1.13 and radio 1.13 in the magician upgrading etc. section. Find the post from hlt. He wrote a complete how to & posted the tools. A few posts later I added some minor comments on the how to. You will patch a shipped rom & upgrade via usb. No need for SD- or MMC-readers.

Hlt posted the tool nbfdec in that thread, hexedit can be found on the ftp xda:[email protected] in one of the magician sub-directory. The getdevicedata file is part of the shipped rom which you can download from the ftp at the magician\shipped roms subdir.

What about skipping it & using the maupgradeut_noid? My guess is that that stepnis meant to avoid the country id error. So is maupgradeut_noid. So download it fRom the ftp, put it in your dir. with the other extracted files from the shipped rom, execute it twice & you must be there.

i have 'em all in one folder... i also added a line 'checkid type..' in ruu.conf to avoid country id error.. so now i directly run MaUpgrade file in bootloader mode or to delete any file from above.. i mean, the Bigstorage unpatched file from shipped ROM.. which file is it? and do i have to decode or do somethin to tat bs113.nb1 file? cz the original rom had files in nbf format..

Hold on, slow down a bit for this old man.
You're mixing things up. The bs113.nb1 is a complete romimage & cannot be used in a shipped rom upgrade.
To use that file you need a different procedure:
- dump your current rom on a sd-card
- get it on your pc
- copy the first 416 bytes from your dump into (overwrite) the bs113.nb1
- write the modified bs113.nb1 on your sd-card
- put in your magician
- press power
- wait till it finishes
- reset
- done
For the shipped rom you need to
- decode the nk.nbf to nb1 format with nbfdec
- open nk.nb1 in hexeditor
- search twice for the mentioned bit pattern & replace it with the usual BS pattern
- encode the modified nk.nb1 to nk.nbf again
- connect your magician with usb to pc (no need for bootloader mode)
- run maupgradeut_noid (this will check your device & puts it into bootloader with the enterbl file)
- follow instructions on pc screen
- keep an eye on your very dark magician screen
- wait till it finishes
- reset
- done

Finally i made it.. All my thanx to whoever helped me..specially to oltp.. Im sorry oltp if ive annoyed u but i ws confused & im new too.. anyway, wot i did ws, patched the BS ting in the shipped ROM' nk.nbf file after decoding it.. I don understand 1 ting.. this is the easiest method of all BIgStorage' methods.. it doesnt require a mmc reader too.. Then y dn they jus place the patched nbf file in the original shipped rom and place it in BigStorage folder.. Cz every BS folder in ftp i see, there are some oter files wich i won understand.. Anyway tanx to oltp for helping me wit his replies sooon.. Finally I got BiggggG STorage
I belief herman3101 uploaded a modified nk.nbf, don't know the exact location. I just uploaded my rom to help someone here at the forum.
So everybody can choose his/her favorite method.
& I just like to patch myself, if something goes wrong I know who to blame.

I have tried to put the all the file of this application taken out from molski 3.3 to muns rom by deleting the original camera file and replacing it with farias camera application, but i failed, after i cooked the rom i was surprised to see the old htc camera application although i put the file.
Can anybody tell me (or Faria), which file i require to put, to get the faria's camera application.

And to see reg file you must set view hidden file in the folder option.
I first put the files that are to be copied to the windows folder in a folder on my storage card (any folder). I then opened total commander and selected all the documents in that folder and did a copy to the windows folder. done. Restarted the phone (using the power button) and when it came back up, Faria camera, at your service.
Did you find the difference in camera.?
Apply this fixes it will become more better

Extract from cab all files for Windows directory and place them into the device.
Delete this files from cab and save cab.
Modify cab working.

I had already installed the original MiniWeather on my on my vox (Orange E650) and all was OK except that in portrait mode the weather image didn't show on the clock tab whereas it did in portrait mode. So I decided to install the vox version to see if it would be fixed.
Unfortunately I've found that the files can't be copied over to the device's Windows folder because Resco says they already there as read-only files in ROM and therefore cannot be overwritten. So after installing the 1.0b CAB I get the following error when I initially select options:
Unknown command: "nu=timestamp"
Line 13(\program files\nrg\chomeminiweather\SetOptions.mscr):nu=TimeStamp()
Is there anything that can be done? Would the clock/weather Image have been fixed anyway? If not I'll revert to the previous version

can someoene post a home screen to show how this should look. Its messed up on mine i believe I get 2 panels - the first one works but the image is messed up. The second one says "forecast" but in there it just says "push centre button to update, push right softkey marked options to set your options"

I've reverted to the non-Vox version and all now seems OK on my Orange E650 with Dr.Gonzo's 5.2.19195 Rom
Try using the Resco Explorer trial to copy them across. It's because the files it's trying to replace are in ROM. Resco worked on my Dr. Gonzo E650.

I have tried 3 different clocks with the same result.

Sounds like a HTCHomeSettings.xml mismatch issue.
If your going to update any 2D theme make sure you use the new themes HTCHomeSettings.xml or adjust the original one accordingly.
Check the developement & Hacking section for more help.

You can only over write it, first turn off 2D from the today menu and then copy your new xml file to the windows directory.
im having trouble with that too! everytime i try to edit an xml file, I try to copy it to my windows directory and i always get an error message. and it just copies it and doesn't replace it

Make sure you turn off 2d in /setting/personal/today/
Before trying to change the xml file.

Why would you be deleting any of those files in the first place? Download TotalCommander or Resco, shut down TouchFlo (as Ttran has stated twice now), edit or overwrite old files on phone, turn TouchFlo back on.

Digital clock
My problem is that If I install digital clock for MANILA2D it doesnt run. I have to again recopy the HTCHomeSettings.xml, but after that I again have the anolog clock. Where is problem ? I had original WM6 ROM and Manila 2D installed the digital clock worked fine but I havent any free device storage free. That's the reason why I had to flash the original ROM.
You can try change with M2D customizer v0.11,hope it'll help you.

OK, I had to modify HTCHomeSettings.xml file. It took me 1 hour and now I am lucky.
Copy all files to \Windows.
