tried upgrading with imate original, wont see the phone
tried mtty d2s (from a working unit)>NTRW READ FROM sd, ntrw WRITE TO SD, it freezes on boot,

ok seems i have a shot bootloader, when i try d2s, the screen goes blank.
s2d dows not work with jam
rbmc is locked!
erase is locked
password >> need a password to do much of the writing commands

in short, there is no way(from where i stand) to flash this thing, attempting to flash with SD returns a frozen set, same SD was able to flash another unit.

My probs started after flashing the UK ROM of the I-mate in to my MDA Compact.

can you do d2s from mtty ? if so, you are in luck, you can still revive your set. if not, try the warranty option something i do not have.
Try d2s, if it works, stop, download the backup from the xda ftp, use ntrw to write it to SD, then put your set in boatloader mode with the SD in, wait 7~10 seconds, it will ask you to press power to flash, & you are there.
if you cannot perform a d2s, your screen goes blank when you try, i do not have a solution, nor does anyone else, so far... either wait, OR try the service center.

You were right, MTTY is still working. I finally got it working again. It took me several methodes.
I got it in serial mode after flashing it with this ROM (it couldn't get out serial mode) --> http://www.cddnet.com/Support/ma_cdlsku12_wwe_10300_163_10100_ship.exe
The backup i made didn't work. But an other way worked:
The other ROM's didn't work but by first updating the radio file form this ROM --> http://www.clubimate.com/Support/ma_cdlsku1_wwe_10300_143_10100_ship.exe
and then doing the setup complete (ms, nb and radio) it finally worked!!
i have the same problem when i tried to upgrade.
now im stucked with the serial screen, and youre method doesnt work for me, it says unsupported format when i dubble click at radio_.nbf
and when i run a full upgrade it says Modell ID error.

hi everyone,
I just buy a Qtek S110, It is a english Version, and I download a dump chinese rom for Dopod 828, after i fully charge the device, I upgrade the device straight forward by following step
1,use romupdate.exe to backup the ROM
2, use command ntrw read oldrom.nb1 i: to read the rom out
3,use Hex Editor to read first 416 bit in the oldrom
4,replace the first 416 bit in the dump rom which i Download in the FTP
5 use command ntrw write NewRom.nb1 i: to write the new rom to SD card
6, enter the serial mode again and press Power button to start upgrade, after 100% it display Checksum failed
7, Restart
is there any problem for my steps? after i restart my device it keeps in the serial mode, the device can not start again! even restore to the oldrom (the one I backup)
I attempt to flash the rom few time, but noting can be fixed.
and finally I download the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to flash back to Orginal rom and now the Back light can switch on and stay in White,
Did anyone can help my situation? thx in advance.

what knd of sd did you use, people, including myself, are reporting problems with mini-sd and flashing. And did you do the 'restore' with a shipped rom? Cause that can solve your problems, see the upgrade to radio 1.13 for details on steps and downloads.
Final question, tried a hard- or soft-reset? Cause normally the magician doesn't stay in bootloader after flashing and restarting.

I've had the same problem flashing a wrong rom image.
My MDA was stuck in serial mode but also reported an error: ROM image to small (or something). I decoded a .nbf file but obviously this went wrong.
Maybe this is of any help.
At least you can access your bootloader mode!
Got a device from Germany over here in the Netherlands and after trying to update my rom I only have a black screen with a splash screen maybe once in 300 hard resets (but no bootloader!).
Can't be serviced in the NL because the imei is unknown and in Germany you can't send to a service center but only return it to a T-Punkt..
So this sucks....

I had to hard reset my palm, as it was stuck at windows screen. It had WM6.
Now it does not go beyond bootloader screen.
Tried, the following
1. Palm recovery tool, connection gets lost
2. Tried ROM flashing with the WM6 ROM (CHEEIMG.nbh) with 2GB Mini SD card with FAT 32 formatting, does not progress, it gets stuck no progress even after one hour.
Not sure what to do next, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks hammod2k, I have tried all the suggestions on the thread. Still when flashing the original rom, it does not go beyond Bootloader -ok hans at GSM, left overnight for flashing, still not working.

I exactly have the same problem bro..it hangs up on gsm...i tried removing my card and hard resetting it but it just brings me to a tricolored screen red green and blue with the word serial at the bottom...tried soft reset but still the same thing..hope someone could help us on this

Sorry to bother but i have a few questions...i have a 750 treo and none of the support on this website is helping...i am trying to flash my palm 750 but its says the file is corrupted..what do i do about that? Progress only reaches 7% ive used cheetah and kaiser unlockers and i was also wondering if it can be flashed just using the computer and usb in booter mode since it wont go past the palm splash screen...i can access my treo using mtty but doing task 2a doesnt do anything either... I think that maybe my phone is screwed up. I appreciate any help you can offer.
I have almost the same problem with my Palm 750 that I believe locked to Rogers.
1. It hangs on GSM if I use SD card ROM file CHEEIMG.nbh . I have tried many different CHEEIMG.nbh files (ATT, Cingular, ROW…)
2. Running CheetahUnlocker will crush at 7%, and my Palm 750 will reboot and freeze at MS Mobile screen.
I have the same problem, and I think we have to change the IPL and after run cheatunlock.
How can we do it?

I was planning (and trying) to flash my device (Universal) with [UPDATED - 2008.12.31: Tomal v8.5] WM6.1 Pro CE OS 20764 and while the progress is at the stage of getting the information about my device, I don't know what, but something happened, and it caused error.
soft resef seems not to work and now only thing I am able to see on my screen is (while hard resetting)
"Press 0 to restore factory default Press X to exit"
tried "0", it says "clearing now" and then, nothing shows up.
tried "X", and again nothing.
released and re-plugged batteries and nothing.
connected to PC and PC didn't recognized the device, and also ROM Upgrade Utility didn't do anything.
Besides those, I have no image on my screen, no color, nothing.
Please somebody help me
PS: I have read, searched, tried to find, googled etc, but couldn't find the same issue

I understand you already READ the Wiki, so I would try to reflash another ROM starting form cero, of course you knnow to have your battery at 100% and all the procedure.
Can you enter in bootloader mode?

I figured out that I was trying to do the wrong thing with mtty1.1.42
and that was not my fault, I exactly did the things that are mentioned.
but a typo or something was there, in wiki, like "On PC type “;task 28 55aa”; as in Technical Stuff wiki page and hit enter. This command suppose to "Restores DOC to its original layout". After you ran the command, you will see "WAIT" and wait until you see the command line “;USB>”;." I removed the bold sections, and now everything seems fine.
PS: It was written & # 8220 (without spaces) instead of ”.

How to resolve flashing issues while installing new rom

and it resolved my problem by following the exact instructions given, and it resurected my Imate JasJar, now I am doing the same operation for installing the Tomal 8.5 special, and I did have encountered the same problem, but fixed it again with that same post.

This is driving my crazy.
My Magician (imate Jam) have a radio version 1.13, I wanted to flash the WM6.1 rom but I got the error mentioned in the title.
I've tried almost every other rom that have the radio version 1.12.1 but none worked, always error 114. I've also tried the radio only updates from the ftp but it's the same error (I've tried version other than 1.12.1, including 1.13 the one I have).
My bootloader is version 1.00 if that matters.
- Can anyone give me something else to try?
- Would an SD flash help?
I hate bumping my own threads but I'm really stuck here.
I'm still out of ideas to try. And I couldn't find an SD image that I could try to flash and see if that could help...
Do you have an SD card inserted.
try removing it before you flash.
i just had the same problem and after removing the sd card it went no problem

The device is unlocked.
Flashing any rom works as long as I remove the radio_.nbf file (that applies to the 6.1 rom but obviously it won't run with 1.13 installed).
Otherwise, if I keep the radio file, it just hangs for a couple minute and then exits with the 114 error.
I've attached the log from an attempt to flash your HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O2 without an SD card inserted in the device. I've renamed the file to txt to be able to attach it.

Seems like there's no software solution to my issue, I've been seraching nonstop and I found someone on different forums saying that the error I'm getting means that the Flash-ROM cannot be erased and rewritten, so it needs to be repaired (or changed).
Looks I'm suck with what I have. (But please correct me if I'm wrong).
For reference, this is what I'm getting:

Error 114 solved for me!!!!

I had the same "Error 114" and "Error 113" updating to WWE 04 cotulla rom (thanks a lot for your work!).
The problem was not enought battery!!! The Magician uses the battery in the update process and the USB charge/power supply doesnt work during the proccess, so, if you have low battery power, the rom write/erase cant be done.
I couldnt charge the battery in the Magician after "Error 114", but a friend has another PDA with the same kind of battery and, after a full charge in his PDA and a battery exchange, the update process finished successfully.

i've solved the problem installing activesync, leave it opened and uncheck "allow usb connection" in activesync settings
Same problem here ... the batery is to low but !!!! you can charge the batery with the unworking phone:
Plug usb power supply in and remove the batery case on the back. the red light will turn on and the device is loading batery.
Your 6.1 image is flashed now !!! great man ! you rokk
Hello. I had a Treo 750 with the original os. After finding out the windows mobile 6.5 version that you guys had i tried it and it worked.
Well.. i saw another one that i thought was cooler... htc like and tried it on, i have installed using usb method and the installation went well. After I rebooted I got a 3 coloured screen.
Ever since that i have tried every method i could found, i tried flashing rom using mtty command
set 14 0
task 28
tas 0
than I installed the 6.5 version using my sd card. It all goes well untill at some point I get this on the screen:
CHEEIMG.nbh
SPLASH1 - OK
BOOTLOADER - OK
GSM - OK
MicroP - OK
EXTROM - OK
OS - Fail
Update Terminate
UPDATE FAIL
Any other CHEEIMG.nbh file i try i get the same error -.-
In some topic I saw that in this case I had to flash using the original rom, I have a Cingular device from the US (im not in the us), was a ATT rom that I have seen posted in the forum.
If I update this 6.5 CHEEIMG.nbh using the complete fix kit through usb it stops everytime in different percentages. It got stuck on 12% , 53% and others but never finishes..
I have also tried the original rom through cable mode using complete fix kit and it sais the CHEEIMG.nbh file is corrupted ...
Im about to loose my patience since i've been on this for days... can anyone give me a hand?
