SameProblem?!
Hello!
I'm a newbee... i want to connect a GPS 4TomTom to the USB Port.
So i don't really know, how to connect the MDA II to the USB GPS-Mouse.
I've taken an USB cable, that could charge the MDA II and build a adapter to connect the cable and the GPS Mouse in it. It won't work. I've think so already, but i've read it anywhere in the www.
So, could anybody help me with the Problem?
I've an Haicom HI-202E GPS-Mouse,
the MDA II
a soldering iron...
and a 5V Powersupply in my adapter (consists of 2 USB ports connected to each other, powersupplied with an 7805 (2A))
How can i fix it?
Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure, but i think, that wouldn't work.
The USB Specifications says that USB requires one master device to controll the slave devices. Your PC is the master device and the mda is just an slave. You won't be able to get 2 slaves talking to each other without a master.....
Stefan
cant the MDA work as an Master?
I've heard it so. But I'm not shure.
Some people gets a external HDD working on other PDA's.
I'll look and think about, but i've never found anithing an web for thet problem/solution.
I've wondered that nobody wants to connect more on the PDA...
I mean 20Gig HDD may be nice in Holliday to listen music
the tomtom software for PPC's will enable under "GPS-status - GPS" the options to select a protocol/GPS-Mouse and the connection:
Ir
BT on com6
serial on com1
com9
.
.
Serial on USB
Bluetooth GPS
so, i thought it will
Thanks for more...

Yes, this is right. The XDA2 won't function as a USB host. You do need that backpack and a www.ratocsystems.com host card. Then it will work.
I know this becuase I'm trying to link mine up to a HDD to store loads of music in my car and use the PPC as a controller but I don't want the confounded backpack - for you though on the motorbike, only using it when you need it it sounds perfect.

Hi
I have an xda 1 & am trying to get the gps to work. I have a Haicom hi204s gps receiver & a (ic-xda-ht for 02 xda tmoble ) cable for the car.
The software I am using is tom tom 3 ver 3.02
I have turned the beam off
My settings for the gps page are Haicom GPS + com1
I am at a loss !!
Rgds
Tan
@nobody: THE MDA can ony act as slave.
BUT: For GPS you ony need a serial port. And after all USB IS a serial type of port.
Only thing you need to do is solder a cable that connects the +5v, ground, Tx and Rx of the GPS USB connector to the appropiate pins of the MDA connector . . . .
On one of the german forums (cant remember the name :-( )there is a memeber nicked 'mocki' that offers custom built cables.
Tanman, choose nmea 4800 and com 1. Make sure beams are off and also that you dont have a keyboard driver loaded. Go to the gps screen in tomtom and see if there is any bars showing for satellites. If this doesnt work or gives an error let me know.
Hi cruisin-thru
Worked a treat
what I could not find at first was 'nmea 4800' which was the name of the sat receiver
Nice one thanx a lot
Tan
Tanman, that is actually the protocol used by the receiver rather than the name/model. Glad its sorted for you.

So what you're saying is that, asl ong as the hardware is compatible with NMEA, we can use this generic driver with the correct baud spreed ?
Yes
HAS ANYONE MANAGED TO SUCCESSFULLY INSTALL BTOOLS ON THE IMATE-JAM?
I HAVE TRIED ALL THE VERSIONS AND CANT GET THE SOFTWARE TO INSTALL.
It does not work with the JAM unfortunately. Perhaps this has to do with the newer JAM MS BT Stack 1.2.
I have emailed the developer to see if he intends on working on a Tool for the JAM, but thus far no response.
Has anyone tried this on the XDA mini?

Knot,
No this will not work on the mini as it runs the MS Bluetooth stack and not the widcomm bluetooth stack.
I can make it work
I can successful install and run the said program.
It need to do, after pairing and before/after entering device name,
than press [Start]->[Today] to bring up the device profile select interface. As the MS BT will bring to front and cover that dialog.
yhlee,
This works, but all the options for my home computer are greyed out except headset profile?
Any ideas.
Mike
I can make it work with my Bluetooth GPS and Activesync with my desktop. Is those what you want?
It works but not to switch off From PDA
I could install the tool. Thanks to all in post with updated help.
This works well. But not to be able to switch off!! This stays on...If I tap on any of the bluetooth icon, it switches off for 2-3 seconds and gets ON itself again.
I can switch off only if other device is turned off.
Any known solution/problem?
AS
they work ok for me
Salve a tutti.
sono nuovo e sul mio qteq s100 e' presente il protocollo bluetooth della microsoft. E' possibile levarlo dalle balle e utilizzare quello widcom/broadcom ?? E come ? Grazie
by the way, what are the bluetooth tools good for? Neither do i get any new profiles after install nor does it improve anything (especially bt issue with rom 1.06 still there). So whats the reason to install that stuff?

Hi.
¿ Do you think that something like that could work in our TG01 ?
Thank you.

Forget it. No TV out on this device....
not out of the box but maybe someone could make an app to do it. i have one of these cables so will plug it in and see what results i get.
for now you could try http://www.mymobiler.com/ as you can atleast output to monitor. (it works i use it)
Edit my cable had a 2.5 jack on the end not micro usb was getting confused, but connected via the headphones to tv anyway and it carries sound to the tv, obviously the phone is treating it like headphones are connected. i dont understand why they didnt include tvout via usb.
HTC Touch can send TV signal via USB, ¿ maybe is possible to use his drivers in any WM phone ?.

If anyone has a Micro-USB/TV-Out cable, ¿ can try it ?, and please, tell us if it works correctly.
This definitely won't work with the TG01 using the method specified on the other site. I've taken a screwdriver to my 'headphone adapter' and can confirm the socket on it is only 3-pole (Ground, Left, Right).
A 4-pole plug would just ground both poles of the furthest ring (usually connected to yellow) if you put it into the TG01 adapter. (for info, red is usually designated RIGHT, and is the very tip of the plug, white is LEFT and is the 'ring' in the middle)
If, however, the TV Out functionality is embedded in chipset, but disabled in software, then with a dedicated TV Out cable such as the one linked above, there is a chance that it would work. I must admit, I never thought I'd use it on my old Nokia N95, but I did - quite regularly.
So who's going to buy the cable and test it?

Unfortunately not straight off. I have just tried with my TG01 and a Samsung UTC-200M.BSTG microUSB to Phono Video out cable. It is possible to get audio through the TV set (seems just on one channel so far), but I've not been able to get any video. The video on the TG01 gets scrambles whn connected up - still a recognisable picture in Core Player, but heavily distorted, horizontal streaks and sometimes a green border to the left side.
I have also tried connecting to the PC using Pocket Controller Pro and found that while it has no trouble with the 'normal' TG01 screen, it doesn't seem able to display the video window from Core Player.
Perhaps someone who has a greater knowledge of the inner workings of video display can shed some light ?
It may of course be as simple as the TG01 not having some vital hardware components.
I will try contacting the Nuetools developer and see if they have any ideas.....
Regards,
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
Not sure if it's the same thing but in Coreplayer i have noticed that if you have a setting selected this sometimes causes the banding and green border to the left - see if turning this off makes the image clear :-
Tools >> Preferences >> Select Page >> Advanced
Untick 'Less Rotation Tearing (slower)' and see if this clears it up
Look forward to hearing the results!
Cheers
Paul
Paul,
Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't actually make any difference whether the 'Less Rotation Tearing' is checked or not in this case; however, I did have a look at the other Video settings and found that Video Output was set to Direct Draw. I've changed that to GDI and it seems more stable and no repeat of the green border / banding effect.
Unfortunately, however, despite cycling though all the video settings I can find, both in Core Player and NueCPL-TV Out I am still unable to get any video output to the TV via the uUSB cable. Both audio channels do work correctly via the white and red plugs.
I'm just about to try contacting the NueROM developer and see whather they can offer any further ideas...

Plugable USB Type-C Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - https://plugable.com/products/usbc-e1000
fuller details at https://plugable.com/2017/04/21/the-new-samsung-galaxy-s8-and-s8-with-plugable-usb-c-products
(I cannot find posts about Galaxy s8 - I assume they are similar?? )
If this post seems a bit stupid, when I asked netgear about using their device to transfer files by wifi, they said 'can the s8 connect by usb?? LOLOLOL
Must other 'help sites' are still doing baby steps.... :/
I would normally use Airdroid (from google play) to transfer files(since my first S3 :luv: ) , but the network tech at work has decided the WiFi is disturbing his Draytek routing in the domain controller, so we have NO WIFI!!...
SO I was hoping this 'plugable' device may enable me to connect to 'airdroid' once more using RJ45 at work...
Hi,
I've tried to plugin a Dell USB-C ethernet adapter and it works like a charm.
Do you need it just for file transfer? Why not using Google Drive or any other doc sharing app?
In this way, you won't have to carry any adapters with you.

what you mean take a large compressed file(E G a 73.5MB mp4) that is IN YOUR PHONE, send it to google, then send it back to your PC?????
how long will that take??
Using airdroid on my home pc, it takes 15 seconds from the phone to PC - no internet needed, it just goes through the router wifi to the PC connection!
How slow is yours??
Also HD 1920x1080 (10 minute vid of party) taken with samsung (1.2GIG) took only 2 mins to transfer.. NOTE: NO WIFI at work, only place I will be using the device..

But it's an work-around that works, especially when you have limits or restrictions imposed by network admins.

(you may have to switch off the android wifi, or use airplane mode)
and then transfer a LARGE file using that..

No router. I've done the test using Airdroid locally. The point of that was to show the possible speed to get out of a "plugable" no ?

No. I was on my laptop on one side and the s8+ connected through Ethernet on the same lan on the other side.
I connected to airdroid locally from the laptop using the s8+ lan ip on port 8888.

Depending on the lan configuration (dhcp...) it will work. As soon as the s8 gets an ip address you're good to go.

Yes, you certainly can plug USB Type-C Ethernet adapters into the phone. I've done it myself with a Belkin Gigabit one.
Note the new icon in the status bar for Ethernet.
You can plug most basic USB devices in using the OTG adapter. Keyboard, mouse (which gives you an on screen pointer, webcam, USB flash drive, floppy drive etc....

Hello,
Sorry, i'm not english. So bad english.
Well, i have an asus tf700t and he have a big problem. ( a friend give me the asus, not mine )
- When i press on / off button, the asus start, and block to the asus logo, nothing more ( a message " the device is unlocked" on top )
- No problem, i press together on / off button and volume +
---> the asus reboot to the asus logo
- i press together on / off button and volume -
---> just a bzzt and nothing more, black screen
- i plugged the asus on a laptop with win 10
---> nothing
- i try adb-fastboot
---> nothing, not recognyzed
- i try hard reboot ( with the little hole )
---> nothing
Any idea, because, for me, i can't do anything more.
Thank you for the next idea for this asus tablet.
Well, first of all thanks for the clear description of the problem! I have seen many, many posts by native English speakers that were a lot less clear than yours! So you're doing just fine.
Unfortunately your tablet does not do well at all. It's dead actually. You cannot get into the bootloader, you cannot get into recovery > sorry, dead as a door nail. :crying:
If you can find a cheap motherboard you could try changing it, but that's for you to decide...
Well, oh thank you !
And damn ! That tablet his dead.
I search for a new motherboard ( 32 / 64 ), i find a used for approximately 50$ ans a new one for 80$. With the postal port it exceeds 100$.
Too expensive for an old tablet.
My friend give me an other one asus tablet ( tf300t ) but she have the screen very broken. And the prise exceeds 120$, too expensive, again...
But if i decide to repair one of these tablets, it's for reading european comics, japans manga and pdf magazines with perfect viewer and e-pubs with amazon kindle for tablet.
With the best rom disponible, and a good installation, is it possible to run fine with one of these tablets ?
Best question ever ! If what i want is not very possible or too slow, i think the tablets go to trash box for recycling.
Thanks.
TEST to reinstall a rom through the SD card.
You will find the procedure on the site xda OR GOOGLE

Yes, it would be difficult since you cannot boot to
Android
recovery or the
bootloader
You only have adb access if the tablet is in Android or a custom recovery.
And you only have fastboot if the tablet is booted into the bootloader.
You cannot get it to either state. That's why I'm saying: The slate is dead. Sorry. And the advice to flash stock from a SD card is unfortunately dead wrong.
You need a new or used (but healthy) motherboard mate. That's all there is to it....

- the tf700t is full battery charge
- when i press the on / off button, i heard the buzzer, two times, and don't have anything on the screen ( outch ! )
- ok, i screw the motherboard, again, on / off, buzzer, and nothing on the screen ( outch again )
- ok, i disassemble the new motherboard, and re install the ancient ( with the screw ).
- on / off button, buzzer ( with a different sound, more metallic ? ? ), and nothing on the screen
- okay.....
- i inspect the connection with the screen, nothing is abnormal in apparence...
- testing without photo lens, camera lens and sound, no changes.
So what's happen ?
Maybe you shorted out the screen? Connect it via HDMI to a TV and see it it boots
power + Vol up what's happen ?
droid or not droid ?
I've noticed that in order to get into the fastboot menu/screen I have to hold the buttons for the entire time until the bootloader version pops up.
So;
1st press the VOL- (volume down) button and hold it down, then while continuing to hold VOL- press and hold the power button until you see the below screen.
If you do not get that screen, please post a picture of the screen to this thread.

I was wrong in the combination of keys ... you are in the menu that I wanted. try "wipe" that clears the account. for this, it is necessary to use "vol-" or vol + '"
Your tablet is not dead. you have to reinstall Android.

Hello,
So after buying a hdmi cable, plugged on my tv :
- test with the ancient motherboard. No screen, just the buzzer.
- ok, install the new motherboard. No screen, buzzer and welcome asus !! ( happy )
For the screen, i see no scratches inside and outside, no impacts inside and outside.
For the connectors, the big one who looks like a big "S", is well.
The second connector, with two heads, have a big folding / crease.
Maybe it's the connector, maybe not....

Hello,
So, for no mistake:
- I plug the asus on my tv
--> When i press on / off button, i have the asus silver logo.
--> The language choice.
--> And no tactile response.
--> When i press on / off button with vol up, i have nothing on tv.
--> When i press on / off button with vol down, i have nothing on tv too.
--> I think, theses commands are not disponibles with the hdmi, outside the rom. I think...
- I have the tablet in my hands, not plugged on the tv
--> When i press on / off button, i have the buzzer, and nothing on the TFT screen.
--> I think also, no tactile response.
--> When i press on / off button with vol up / down, i have the buzzer, and nothing on TFT screen.
And now, the House m.d diagnosis :
--> When i disassemble the tablet, i forgot to disconnect the battery ( i discover that today )
--> Did is it possible to have the tactile response when the tablet is plugged on a tv ? With one of my old tablet, NO, very useful...
--> I see some folding on the orange ribbon who is connected to the digitalizer, this affect the tactile, not the TFT ?
--> I think, i reassemble the ribbons on the good sens. Internet pictures are always right, no ?
--> I have no TFT response, two solution for me :
- I blow out the TFT when i disassemble.
- The TFT ribbon have a problem. Which problem, i don't know...
Damn, it's a lupus ...
@nemekas, sounds like you screen is dead, when connected to a TV via the micro-HDMI you should have tactile response, do you have the keyboard dock? If your screen is dead you will need the keyboard to make any inputs into the tablet.
