XDA2 rear housing - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Accessories

I am in desperate need of the black plastic cover on the top back of the XDA2. If anyone has one available please let me know.

Plastic cover
I might have one when it returns from the insurers. I can't remember if it was ok or not after I drove over it with a go-kart. I will post a message here when it comes back.

Camera and light holes...

From the clips I've seen online and I think on the diamond, the holes in the back cover for the camera lens and (in the case of the touch pro) the light, have a clear plastic lens within the back cover which some reviewers criticised because it could get smeared with fingerprints etc.
Taking the back off mine this morning to put battery and sim in, noticed that there is no clear plastic cover, the square 'frame' is there in the back of the back cover to mount such a piece but it has not been fitted (assuming mine hasn't fallen out).
Same with everyone else?

Yep, same here, you're all good.
Cheers, must have been a last minute thing then in response to criticisms.

Well ours are inset, so I wouldn't worry about fingerprints, but what does worry me is that now it's easier for dirt to get trapped in there.. At least it's easy to clean it out without the plastic cover, imagine trying to get a Q-tip down in there?
Easier to just slide the back of to clean the lens if need be.

Exactly, but if they put a plastic cover on the back like the Diamond, you couldn't get dirt out from inside the case. Major PITA.

help! anyone dismantle the HTC diamond us version

hi, i need a little help. i just open up my htd diamond sprint. to put back the magnet that the stylus get hooked on. but the problem is i got everything done but when replace the cover on the back before the screws. there is a wire that runs right along the side next to the vibration ball. does it go right next to it or in the edge. well i am afraid it might rub against it and burn up the wire. any suggestion? got pics. forgot to take a pic of mine.

[Q] for those still interested in disassembly

There are two screws on the bottom of the Tf by the charging port. Then on the back there are clips all around the outer edge of the "Asus" panel. Use any non marring tool for the clips. Once all the clips are loose, the bezel around the screen comes off frome the front. It seems to bemostly plastic with a metal overlay. Then there are ten or eleven philips screws that hold the rear panel on.
Sorry no pics
So the metal bezel comes off first then followed by the plastic back panel which is held in by screws?

Thats correct. You can see the screws for the back after the bezel is removed.
The metal around the edge is seprate from the back plastic and the front glass. However the metal is extreemly thin and WILL bend with any kind of proping. Also once u remove it getting dust under the glass is going to happen. Also the plastic clips are very ****ty and if one bends or brakes the transformer will not click back on. Its not worth opening this thing up. If u have a issue with your unit call asus and have them fix or return to store.

Thanks to everyone who posted this information!
The only thing that bothers me about the TF is the creaking, so I was thinking about fabricating some pieces to upgrade or replace the back, bezel, or both.
couple of questions for you...
--Were you able to determine exactly where the creaking comes from? Is it just the flimsiness of the back panel or the way it all mounts together?
--Also, you mentioned dust getting under the screen after reassembling- so the glass is a completely separate component? How does it attach to the rest of the unit?
--Finally, are there any warranty/tamper seals that get broken during dissassembly?
Thanks again!
I didn't go any further than removing the bezel out of fear that I would break something or not be able to get it back together. I didn't get any dust under my screen and there wasn't a single tamper seal that i saw

Moto G back case, doesn't fit flush? (btw, they are in stock in some tesco extra's)

Hey,
just got the 16GB from tesco.
When I opened it, (factory sealed box), the case was not clipped all the way on, and the top edge was open a bit. I opened it properly, from the bottom as instructed. Sim car already in, so clipped case on.
Basically there is 1mm gap, right next to the headphone jack and microphone on top of the phone. So, I took case off and had a look. The body has a space for an extra clip next to microphone, but the back case misses this one out (presumably to make room for rubber bit on microphone). I had a look at the pink case in the box, this also misses this clip.
Do other peoples phones case sit tight and flush on the top edge? or is my phone maybe wonky!! I worried the numpty who put the tesco sim in has distorted the chasis, or I just have been unlucky.. Its pretty minor, but its dust access so would prefer a tight fit!
FYI, there stock systems are screwed for xmas. Says out of stock everywhere, including when you phone up the store. I went to a tesco Extra, it had lots and lots in stock. Same price as Tesco direct. So, if you still want one for £129, 16GB. Get to your nearest tesco extra, you may well get one if they have a phoneshop instore.

The gap is there to allow leverage to get the back cover off. It's annoying that dust can get caught there but it would be a nightmare to remove it if there were no gap. I've had four now from various Tesco stores and they all have this gap, so no need to worry. Just clean out the dust now and again.
I had one which shipped with the case split open like you describe when I first opened it (also 16GB from Tesco).
That phone had a creaky back case - particularly noticeable applying slight pressure to the corner near the speaker. On looking at it I could see the clip on the front of the phone (not the back) was slightly too large, and so you wouldn't be able to fix it with a new back.
Phone went back as it also had a dead pixel in middle of the screen.
I think that the small plastic clips on the front part of the phone can be damaged by not taking the rear of the phone off carefully enough. If they are damaged your phone will always have a loose back, so best not to remove the back too often.
Yes mine is the same and annoyingly someone has used this gap to try and remove the backplate causing it to split at the microphone opening. (2nd hand phone).
So I suggest always removing the backplate from the microUSB end as these are not the sturdiest of backplates.

The phones from Tesco include a one page leaflet telling you to put your thumb on the moto logo on the rear and peel it up from the USB, definitely not from the top.
Seeing how flimsy the back is I personally crack open the bottom at the micro USB and then run my fingernail around the gap to pop the back off all the way. The hardest bit to release is the corner above the buttons, which is also where the rear of the case is weakest.

yea this is how I remove mine. The gap at the top is definitely not there to aid removal of the back. You start from the bottom like you say,
I actually swapped the black back for the pink one included. it fits much much tighter at the top so I think the back can be distorted on poor removal. The downside is I now have a pink phone until I get a replacement
cheers for the responses guys. Good to know its not a problem with my phone as such, just a design quirk..
just got a 16 GB XT1032 from US and i have this same kind of gap in between the body parts on the right side of the audio jack, when the display is facing ground. i freaked out when i found this out. i really expected perfect finishing from motorola.
did someone figure out why is this werid 1mm gap is there or some way to fix it?
Hi guys! I just bought my Moto G from Romania, 16 gb dual sim. Well, today I notice a tiny gap at the right side of the screen, between screen and plastic body. Did anyone else had something similar? The phone it's just great, but I'm a little worried because maybe dust can enter under the screen. I did'nt dropped or something, I just noticed today in the bright light. Thank you
There's no gap in mine. Are you guys making sure that your back cover is completely "snapped" on on all of its sides?

A replacement for rear camera lens cover

Hi all
I have a few annoying scratches on my rear camera lens cover (whatever it is glass or plastic?). Can this part be replaced without having to replace the whole camera module?
I can't seem to find this part listed anywhere on aliexpress or ebay. Plenty of these are available but they look more like a cover to be put on top of the original rear camera.

Or are they actually the replacement for the original cover? Please someone helps enlighten me
Thanks
Or is it actually part of the back cover? I can't quite make it out from all pictures I saw on the internet.
Will take the back cover off and see for myself tonight. In the meantime if anyone has anything to share, that'd be much appreciated too

You probably noticed already that it's part of the bacover. I replaced mine for the same reason, but I wouldn't expect it's waterproof anymore, so please don't drop it into the toilet
Original back cover.
