Finally !!! DIY Car-handsfree for XDA - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Accessories

Hello, after a lot of research, this is what i came up with, and it works perfectly !!
(Hint! Look here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/Connectors )

Lets see some picture of your settup

It's coming folks !
Yes-Yes it's coming!
I'm taking some pictures of it later this day. BTW it's a modified SonyEricsson-holder, just like ID64's setup
I'll be back !!
// Per

Shown'setup works fine for the XDA 1 (pin 2 and 5 worked for me more than a year)
I don't see the difference, the part on the pins 18 up to 22 i really don't undertand, does hat make the difference ??

Pins 18 up to 22 ?
The pins from 18 up to 22 is for the power, so my phone can charge in the holder.... i'm taking some pictures here a little later so you can see my setup.
P.S. Pin 19 does, when connected to GND, make the XDA disconnect internal Speaker/Microphone and use the external sound - as you can read on the connectors-site.

I know, i didn't have to use it on the XDA 1. On the MDA it didn't even work with pin19 grounded, not Navigation or MP3 sound at least...
I cant get Phone trough BT, with less hassle

pin 19 only turns off the internal microphone and speaker during a call. So ir wont work for navigation mp3 etc
Cheers

From what i understand, JP2 is a power connector where pin 1 is V+ and pin2 is GND? Correct?

No, it's actually just the other way round  - Pin 1 is GND and Pin-2 is V+
// Per

Oh yeah - should have just looked at the pinout on the voltage regulator! doh!

I've done it, but sound quality is bad.
Hi.
I've built this kit and tested it with many configurations (of grounding CAR_ON and using different grounds for audio).
I've put the wavedev.dll too to get sound from mp3/gpsnav
Anyway, the sound it hissy all the time (no bass).
I've tested my MDAIII's headset audio out and it's OK.
Can't get good audio from bottom connector.
Anybody had anything like that ?

Yes, it's why I gave up on a self-made kit. I did many hours of troubleshooting and figured out it wasn't going to happen easily. My best success was with a self-built amplifier, but then I'd lose all the other features of the car kit.
Wasn't worth it, bought the official one.

Maybe I'd buy it, but it seems that there's no car kit with real audio out for car stereo (only some switchboxes etc.)
I've just tested audio with "ground seperator - noise filter".
It clears ground interference quite well.
But can anybody say why MDAIII has the same GND for audio, communications and charging ? This is insane !
I've cleared the noise, but the sound is still near bass-less.
I'll make some simple pre-amplifier and test using other GND's, but nothing would do as good as HTC detailed datasheet
If You have some good car kit, maybe You can look into it, to check how they managed to get clear audio ?

The ground loop isolators lose a lot of bass in the process. They are either simple matching transformers or largish capacitors. A capacitor won't pass frequencies below a certain point, and a transformer above a certain point.
The common ground was a source of many issues I ran into also. I don't have any ideas for you; I had the same problems. My next step, if I had the time, would be to design and build a pre-amp circuit with full floating grounds, and full-range frequency response. That could then be sent to a regular car amp.

Thanks for tips. Apparently, I'm building a pre-amplifier right now
But the problem with no-bass is not related to ground seperating transformer.
Whether I use GND seperation or not, there's nearly no bass from MDAIII.
Irritating... Sound from headset connector is super-fine.
I'll post my comments on pre-amplifier (when it's ready), and how it helps the situation.

Possibly they never intended to have that output used for music, just speakerphone. As I recall, I had the same issue.

It seems that only pre-amplifier with equalizer can help.
I'll keep informing of my progress.

If they truly restricted the low frequencies, then an EQ won't help. If they applied a bandpass or high pass filter, it will drop at least 6db per octave. An EQ would only work for light roll-off, and this is pretty severe.

mapping hardware for this device

Hi all,
As i started servicing all pdas for a couple of monthes (only as a hobby, i fix them for friends and relatives), i came across one BA that gave me some trouble.
i got it to replace its LCD that was broken as it was dropped and thats very simple to replace it, so far so good. now it has two main problems :
1. no sound from speaker (even when in speakerphone mode), but there is sound in the stereo earphones (i plugged to the connector by the sd card slot). - i can only assume that a bluetooth handsfree device it will also work.
2. although the backup battery is fully charged, if i remove the main battery even for a brief second, when turned on, the BA acts as if i made a hard reset.
as for solving the problems :
1. using a digital multimeter, i managed to track the conductivity from the internal speaker through its connector, flat ribbon to the connector which connects to the main pcb - so there is no contact problem from the speaker to the main pcb.
using the help from WIKI, i went to site that has the list of all components and their description - the IC that is responsible for audio amp is a MAXIM's MAX4410 which is a stereo headphone driver. a quick look at its charasteristics and typical configuration and i understood that (assuming this is the IC that drives the internal speaker) the speaker should have one pin which is ground and the other goes to the amplified signal from the IC. neither one of the pins showed it has GND to it. so maybe there is a bad GND line to the connector.
2. regarding the backup battery issue i do not know what makes this problem.
I am sharing this info with you all with two ideas in mind :
1. to resolve my problem and know those devices hardware better.
2. because i am quite a while watching xda-developers and WIKI and i got the feeling that a lot of eforth is given to the software side of all those pdas (which is greate!!! keep going, this work helps lots of people and it shows al thos mega corps they are not the only ones), but the hardware is a bit forgotten and left behind. let me tell you this, there are many VERY simple mini projects i made useing electronics (i am an electronics engineer in my profession) that made my life easy . i am now investigating those instruments hardware as i have several ideas to develope useful accessories to my pda (like an external IR transciver to control IR devices like TV,DVD and to communicate with my laptop, and some other ideas) and i believe we can do the same info sharing as done on software side but on the hardware side.
I will thank any ideas, thoghts or commentsabout this matter. Yol.
Great job Yol!
I once read somewhere here that the problem with the speaker had something to do with the headset jack. Since you mentioned that the BA was dropped and that it still is experiencing battery and other problems, then most probably the motherboard is damaged.
In any case, keep up the good work!
hints....
Thanks zerimar, i also had this cross my mind i will check this speaker issue.
it is right that usualy, headphones jacks have a switch in them which connect/disconnect a main speaker from the system.
regarding the backup battery, i noticed an interesting thing - if i leave the main battery connected untill it is fully discharged, the backup battery stays fully charged and does not discharg !! it leads me to think that the backup battery is connected with two sets of transistors - one charges it and the other is responsible of supplying it power to the system - may be the second set is damaged and thus do not back up the instrument.
That's the same thing with the Magicians (at least with mine). As soon as the main battery is taken out, the backup battery discharges very fast.
There was a thread about this long time ago. I'll try to search when I have the time, coz if I remember there was some workaround.

Headset bluetooth connection problem

Hi friends, i bought yesterday a bluetooth samsung hm1500 headset (2.1 bt + edr)
http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/samsung-hm1500-bluetooth-27371p.html
and i can't connect with tg01. The phone cannot detect it. I tried everything for hours , tried with all available roms but still nothing.
Can anyone help please ?
Use the traditional problem solving procedure
1) Test your new headset with another phone (friend, relative....)
2) Test your TG01 with another Bluetooth device
Good luck! Tell us the results
Motorola are the best
Bluetooth headphones are real fussy. Motorola's pretty much work with everything I've found.
Thanks friends for the replies, i send it back, doa, i tried with 3 other mobile phones and nothing with noone conected only with my laptop was possible to connect, very special bluetooth.
Has anyone found a bluetooth headset that one can have a decent conversation with others without having problems of not being heard loudly? I have two headsets, a cheap ebay hong-kong one and a Nokia BH-215. People complain hearing me very low with both. If i get away from the phone but within the bt radius things get even worse and don't get better even if i get close to the phone again. I think it's because of the phone and not the headset.
Did you try SRS 3 cabs install?
No but i used it once and i remeber that it messed up my bt connection. But that was back in 6.5.x rom. Maybe i''l give it a shot now that i'm on 6.1.

Kevin i bought one but still connection tends to lose sound quality with too much "noise garbage" in it. Can you tell me with which radio have you been using it with? Is it the 1600 of the rom in your signature?
Thanx

Hi Jonous,
I'm using it with the other radio - what was effectively the 'Italian' stock radio 0300.76
It's difficult to compare notes with this sort of thing remotely... but I'd confrm that there is 'some' degree of background noise present even on this high-end BT headset device when compared direct to a hard wired uUSB connection (into the same earphones - per my sig). Like any audio device, I'd recommend keeping the volume level on any element in the chain to < 60% in order to keep noise down.
DEspite the above, I'd regard the MW600 as a quite capable piece of kit in conjunction with the TG01 giving extra flexibility - but it is a trade-off to some extent with quality.

Hehe i feel like an idiot, i enbarked on an endless journey of flashing and flashing different radios and trying out the sound quality of each one cause bt headset is very important for me. When i got to 0300.76 suddenly sound was crystal clear! On the 1st test call. On the second call i was bearly heard, crappy sound again. Then it it struck to me...I remembered that sometimes when you press the answer call button of the headset the sound is transfered to the phone...I thought "no it can't be...if this is it i'm a real idiot!!!" And yes, when i pressed the button again sound was transfered to the headset and sound was magnificent! So the lousy sound i got with all other roms was because i was trying to be heard through the phone's micrphone which was some 2-3 away from me hahaha so other end of line heard little or nothing.
Well enough said, this headset is brilliant, loud n clear sound, caller id, fm radio everything! well almost, i wish it had vibration too but don't care, i'm happy with my buy! Thanks again

You are most welcome - I'm delighted you are up and running and happy with the S-E MW600 headset. There are so many variables with these things as well as the subjective element wjhen it comes to perceived audio quality that it is difficult to translate one person's experience to another. Great news
the Sony MW600 is really great !
But don´t forget to increase the bitrate of the streaming codec.
I modified/added this values in HLKM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings
BitPool 65
MinSupportedBitPool 65
MaxSupportedBitpool 65
SampleRate 48000
SubBands 8
Blocks 16
Allocation 1
UseJointStereo 1
Unfortunately Track names are not submitted like with SE or some HTC phones
Hi Friends!!!
I have also the same problem with a BT car.
And the problem is like it´s been described (sound very loud in the microphone)....
I remember that in my I780, I changed some settings (don´t remember if it was in Hardware or registry).
Anyone had a solution?

[Q] Speakers shut off at 50% level

Good day guys,
been reading a ton about the speaker issues of the transformer and I think mine might be unique. for some reason, my external speakers shut off at roughly 50% level and the only way to turn them back on is to plug and unplug earphones at a lower level. At lower levels, like 40% and lower, the speakers work fine but the moment level go past 50, they shut off specifically when the DB level I'm guessing reaches a certain point. Not sure if it might due to faulty wiring and I'm not so sure I can fix it if it is, or even know where to start. earphones work fine though.
any thoughts would be immensely appreciated.
installed the new prime and now the speakers won't even turn on when I plug/unplug my headphones. so basically now, zero external speakers action. sound only through the headphone jack.
any thoughts? thanks in advance!
Same problem here, i some roms using nvflash tool, but still no luck...

Audio bluetooth routing mic to one, audio to another

Ok, I've spent the last few hours googling but cant find anything quite like my question here:
I have a set of awesome acoustic tube earbuds that don't have a good mic, to use them with my phone I run the wire under my shirt to a bluetooth receiver (that thereby kills the wired one) on my belt.
I also have several smartwatches including the zenwatch 2
Problem is... the receiver has a built in mic that doesn't pick up my voice well from my belt (but has a 8-12 hour battery life)
What I want to do=
I want to use the mic on my smartwatch for making calls while using the buds on the receiver for the phone audio
What I have found= nothing in s7 edge for doing so
soundabout is an awesome app, but doesn't do what I want, it can sent bt mono to one device, or bt media to another, but not bt mic to one and audio to another.
Reasons= I spend roughly 6 hours in my company vehicle a day, thus holding a phone or manually switching audio is not safe....or necessarily legal
Any Ideas? I'm beggin here
T-mobile S7 edge -unrooted (not firm on that) running nougate, zenwatch 2 running aw1.5

Get a Bluetooth heaset instead, or just get a set of earbuds with a good mic. They're both inexpensive, it won't require the extra hardware like the receiver on your belt or your watch, and they don't take all that hassle to use. It will be just your phone and one other component. Connect and done.

Do you have to have the receiver?
Does it have to be acoustic tube?
You just need to be able to talk on the phone while driving with earpieces and a mic right?
Why wouldn't a normal set of ear buds with an in-line mic work? Or a normal bluetooth earpiece that has mic built in?

I do have the receiver, acoustic tube as well and it's much preferred, job requirements mean it has to be unobtrusive (thereby no bright colors, large earbuds, large on-line control box...ect) lz
I need to be able to receive calls while driving, and while on-site (privacy is important) pull out my phone to pull up information, take/show pictures without worrying about wires.
Something like the Braga earbuds would be perfect if not for the horrendous battery life.

Something similar to this except a better brand and battery life maybe? This has 4 hours talk time, maybe you can find a better one.

I said "similar", as in function, not design.
I also read reviews, I saw some using a rechargeable battery pack to keep it charged during the day.
Maybe you can find a similar product but not so bulky.

I apologize, I misread, I've looked into what you said, the best battery life is around 4 hours (that I can find) however some allow for single earbud use at a time while having the other in the charging case. Issue being they are mostly ones like the bragi dash pro ($201.50) or the Rowkin ($259)
hence my asking for some way to choose mic

issues MTCD KGL, and investigation, noise, wifi, map audio, radio. other, screengloss

so planning to catch some of the commons issues I seen over the forums, and want to see where people managed to fix issues, and I will add my own from experience, I had read through the forums, and tried many of the suggestions:
this on Erisin KGL PX5 Unit for VW.
I had tried factory MCU firmware, Factory andriod system
then
latest MCU firmware Malaysk andriod system.
and while the unit improved. this did not have any effect on the following problems:
NOISE ISSUE
1- when unit isoff, no sound at all from speakers
2- when unit is on, but muted very low volume constant tune hissing sound.
3- slightly louder volume constant tune hissing sound when the unit is NOT muted (does not go up as volume in increased)
4- data like noise, (like old computer onboard audio, noise is relevant to how much processing is done), this does not go up as volume is increased
a) I had looked into lowering the aux input gain from factory menu, thinking it might be aux in being not connected causing some of the above
b) tried removing every single cable (apart from the harness that is powering the unit)
c) what I will try next, is to see if I can provide cleaner power to the unit, or improve the ground, I am not electrical engineer, so some advice is needed.
-----------------------------------------
"Here Maps" Audio skips milliseconds of speech.
so instead of saying "take the first exit at the next roundabout", it sounds like "take the fist exi at the nex rou bout"
I had tried downloading other voices, but the the problem persist.
I really have no idea why this is happening but will be nice to know how to solve it.
--------------------------------------------
dreaded wifi issue:
unit wifi is really bad although I literally parked next to the router, at my house, and there is only a window rather than a wall i between.
only remedy so far is to improve line of sight, however I read that improving the grounding, or getting better wifi antenna might solve the problem. so will give this a go later.
----------------------------------------------
Radio performance was appalling out of the box. so I purchased fakra radio adapter (powered)
this improve performance significantly, and now it picks up most of the radio channels.
still the radio is not as good as stock radio that came with the car.
as most channels have a bit of crackling sound, very few sound perfect.
----------------------------------------------
the screen is very reflective and barely visible in daylight, (I have light color leather seats) which makes the screen even worse.
so I am thinking of buying anti gloss screen filter.
I would think it will wash out the colors a bit, but I am willing to do that in order to see the screen properly.
as of night time, even when lowering brightness to min, its still bright, so I am thinking of getting something like Lux or automatic adjustment based on time (since the unit does not have ambient sensor)
------------------------------
2 months ago I had also a KGL / Erisin radio for VW with sound problems. You always heard a noise from the speakers. The Boise came from the AMP chip. Then i had a Ownice C500 that also Bad noise from the speakers. Now i have a Xtrons PX5 Unit and there is no noise. Additionally i have made an upgrade from TDA 7388 to Pioneer PA2030A, now the sound is perfect.
how did you upgrade the MOSFET?
are they pin compatible and you can desolder the old one and replace it with the new one?

Exactly. You can buy the AMP on eBay.
I've not audio issues, but for me radio reception is not so good, in particular the AF option works very bad!
Wifi performances are intermittent (I've a 4g wifi dongle; the signal comes and goes...) but when it goes, it downloads at full speed.
Screen is very reflective but lights are ok for me.
I have some problem with google maps app: it locks and I've to restart it 2 o 3 times... I don't know if it depends on the app or on the system.

I have the Erisin 6405V in my VW Golf mk5. All seems to be running fine, haven't noticed the wifi issues really as I mainly use a USB 3G Dongle I have connected.
For your navigation audio, goto Settings > Navigation Settings and change audio mode from switching to fixed(?) (basically the other option, I can't remember off the top of my head) I found this fixed my issue in google maps.
Also highly suggest to do all google play updates (maps/google app/play services) that's improved the stability of alot of the apps I use on my headunit.
I'm (I think) running their KGL_PX5_6.0(20170502) that erisin sent me to fix my bluetooth echo.
My -only- issue I'm finding. I had a previous headunit's I had tried and sent back for various reasons (xtrons and eonon) they detected my car doors open etc correctly but the erisin one doesnt seem to. Not that this is a problem, just wondering where the issue could be as the CanBus settings seem to be correct.
The hissing you hear is caused by the Wi-Fi. Turn off Wi-Fi and you will see that the noise is gone
turning off the wifi does not fix the issue.
as for mixing vs fixed mode in navigation audio, that did not make a difference.
I will open the unit soon to upgrade the amp, and maybe dampen the noise with a help with an electrical engineer

and while the unit improved. this did not have any effect on the following problems:

Here is the link: https://workupload.com/archive/49a8wjT
I contacted them via email.
I had took my unit to hardware lab, and powered it, and connected it to oscliscope.
it seems that there is 25khz noise on the speaker output all the time.
I had tested also pre amp output, and that have some noise too. so my guess is that good amp would cut off those high frequencies, and thats why it sounds better.
I will try to use ferrite cores, and see if it improve the situation, although I think it will not be able to cut low frequencies, but it never hurts to try espacilly this means no need to open the unit. I will report back later
j0nnymoe, can you tell us the MCU version for your unit after the update. thanks
Did you try 2.47 MCU? That's the latest for MTCD KGL PX3/PX5.
I have experienced noise issue #4 when I am using WiFi hotspot from my phone and phone is next to the unit.

This noise is so annoying, it makes me miss my OEM head unit, my car has an OEM Bose sound system with an amplifier under the seat and a subwoofer in the spare wheel, I don't know if this might be the issue for me, the subwoofer and all 8 speakers certainly work, as soon as I mute the head unit, the noise is gone, as soon as I step it up to Vol 1, I xan hear the noise, when the music or radio is playing, I can't really hear it but if the volume is up and it comes to the end of the song, I can hear it and it's bugging me... I don't know of replacing the AMP chip with a Pioneer chip (As mentioned before) would be the ultimate solution to get rid of that noise...
The other problem I am facing is the brightness of the screen in daylight, I have a Dasaita V600 (Specific to my 2012 Mazda3), I barely can see anything during the daytime, the brightness is cranked up to the max, are there any other settings to play around with? Contrast maybe etc...

Disable in Factory Settings brightness control by headlamp, it's something like that, but it made my screen brighter during the day.

opened the unit today, nothing obvoius of whats wrong.
I noticed that the wifi antenna connected to realteck chip that claims antenna diversity, however the second antenna does not exist.
as for the car amp, still looking into the problem cause, might start digging into the pcb further to see where its going wrong.

I have almost the same issues with the same unit for my Mazda 6 2015.
1. frustrating with the noise at low volume.
2. poor quality of WIFI signal (I'm sending my internet via mifi router)
3. poor quality of bluetooth phone calls.
i had wifi problems with my eonon ga6200f (kld-mtcd) just would not connect at all logged into my router and manually set the channel to channel 3 and its been fine since connects every time now.
i also have a problem with background sound when unit is not playing anything i have an infinity amp so im running through a spdif box from front left and right speakers so figured thats what the problem was been trying to find out if any of the pins not laid out in the manual are spdif out but not getting very far with seller or eonon
