Hi all
i have a problem with the screen on an xda1. the bottom third of the screen is mis aligned when i tap it. i cannot run the 'align screen ' application cos i cant tap the system tab. is there a way to force this 'align screen ' prog to run (copy a file to start-up? or delete its config file??)
ive tried a hard reset and tested the screen in boot loader mode it seems ok.
TIA

ps imrunning xda developers rom v1.2
if it's only mis aligned that means you can manage to hit the right spot to start the "align screen" application ... and by hard reset the device will launch the "align screen" by default ... so, maybe you can clarify more on this problem
i cant tap anything in the bottom 3rd of the screen so i cant do a re align i do a hard reset but im running a non standard ROM so i dont get the automatic alignment during setup.
I hope this makes it clearer
Thank for the reply

Though I don't have a solution to your problem, I have experienced it with one of my other PDAs. I have an iPaq 5555 that all-of-a-sudden one day experienced exactly what you describe - the top of the screen seemed aligned, but the further down the screen you got, the further off the alignment was.
I tried an SR, no difference. Next I tried a HR followed by a restore from backup, no difference. Then I tried a HR with no restore and it worked properly. I then installed each of the programs that was loaded and it has worked correctly since.
While I'm not sure exactly what the cause was, it must have been some sort of OS or registry corruption because it was restored when the system was restored, but not when the system was re-loaded.
Since you seem to have a cooked ROM, I'm not sure how practical a step-by-step reload is, but maybe flashing a "bare" ROM might help you to determine if it's a hardware/OS/software issue. You should be able to cook one up in Lumpistefan's kitchen.
heard people here on the forum asking how to remove the hardreset align part (pretty bad idea if you ask me)
i suppose you could flash another rom on it then you could get it to align
if the version was the same you could even restore your backup
Thanks for the reply guys
im a bit nervous abot flashing the rom, i bought this of ebay with this rom and the only time i tried to flash my XDA2 it screwed it up and i had to send it for repair.
i know there are tools on the forum for fashing roms but what is the safest way : or what do you advise
i have no back- up for this device so we start with a clean sheet

Had my TP for just over 2 months now and when i slide out the keyboard to write a sms i start typing and nothing shows up, the curors doesn;t even more along as i type. It will only sometimes work in Notes and i used excel earlier today and had to type and the curosr moved along with each button press but wouldn;t show the text. I had to move down a row to actually see what I typed.
Thanks
Regards,
Neil
mine did the same thing
when I first got mine a few weeks ago, it did the same thing. I cant tell you what caused it happen though
I search through all of the programs I had installed that effect performance and eventually did a hard reset and it started working normally.
I also had an issue with programs running very slow and the tf3d lagged bad. You should flash your rom, it makes a world of difference. If you decide to do it, look through all of your installed programs from the factory rom and make a list of what you want to keep... not all roms have everything you need installed. Then just download all the programs back to your new rom. I used NATFs V2.3 and am really happy with it.
BTW I am a newb and have never done anything like that to a phone before... I just followed the instructions on the Rom development page (sticky) and it was a breeze.
you should do it
Thanks Mike for your help.
What worries me is what would I do if for any reson I need to send the phone back to Vodafone?
I have asked for a link to the defaul Vodafone Touch Pro rom on here but nothing has turned up.
I am also just worried about doing the whole flashing thing as I just don;t really want to break it
If you follow the steps in the stickies, you wont mess up your phone. I am not sure about the vodaphone rom... would it really matter to the company what rom you have if you warranty is covering a broken component of the phone. Just drop it in a bucket of water and claim the insurance taht way??? Maybe someone else can chime in.
I don't know what the deal is, I had them this morning, and even after a restore, I don't have any of my Input methods anymore. They all show but when I select one it doesn't apply. I should have:
Block Recognizer
Compact QWERTY
Full QWERTY
Keyboard (it defaults to this every time)
Letter Recognizer
Phone Keyboard
Transcriber
I have recently installed the new Landscape Full Manila update but I had these options even after that.
Anyone know how I can reinstall these options?! I hate that default keyboard!
It seems like they are all there still, like I can see options for them all, etc but it just wont change, also its like the small arrow by the keyboard isn't activated and I cant click it, I can change the default keyboard from small to large, but that's it!
ERRRR, what pisses me off is I backup ALL THE TIME, before every app install even, and when I do a restore, it still doesn't work, WTF good are backups then! Or does Spite Backup just suck and I should be using another?
This worrying about everything from one min to the next with this device is the only bad thing about it.
The only suggestion I have for you is to do a hard reset and restore using the most recent back up file until you find a back up file that works for you. I have used sprite back up many times before but this has never happened to me.
Are you using the stock Fuze ROM?
Yeah I'm using the stock ROM but I bypassed the bloatware and installed TF3D that was just released in the software thread, the full one with landscape mode.
I tried several backups and none worked, strange, not sure what caused this but I did find a work-around, its a small app called SIPChange, it was a shot in the dark but it worked for me, for anyone else with this issue, try it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271008
This actually even fixed the little arrow issue I have that wasn't letting me select the Input method on the fly, I did notice it loads at every reset tho, I don't care as long as it works!
Thanks guys, I hope this thread will help anyone else with the issue.
Hey guys,
I hate for my first post here to be a problem, but while trying to get Wargus running on my Touch Pro I changed the registry setting for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEDriversConsoleOutputTo to 0 to use PocketCMD.
While browsing around trying to figure out why PocketCMD won't display text unless I scroll up or down, I found someone who said they managed to kill their Pro after reboot by changing the value to 0, like the instructions said. Before I reboot I was hoping to change it back to the original value so that I don't have this problem.
They claimed that by doing this, it caused the console to come up on boot and they were unable to continue past this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I just got this a few days ago and would hate to have already killed it .
just do a hard reset....
That is what I ended up doing. I was just hoping I wouldn't have to lose all my contacts and installs I had already entered. I guess I have learned my lesson to backup the registry before messing around. Thanks anyway, though.
Whenever I do a hard reset, I save all my contacts to my sim card, or I do a back up with HTC data back up.
Here is the backup tool I use
Thanks, I will probably end up using that regularly. The problem I was having before is that WM wouldn't boot far enough for me to do anything from the phone. It came up with a console menu once the task bar loaded, displayed some diagnostic info and then froze.
I guess this would be a seperate topic as well, but what console do you use for the Touch Pro since the registry editing needed to run PocketCMD causes the phone to freeze on boot?

My HTC Touch HD also freezes at a same way because of the same situation.
How is it possible to install/use this tool since it freezes around at the 5th second after boot?
I have cyanogens latest rom installed. I tried all the previous versions as well and I keep
having the same problem.
My Touch screen on my MyTouch3g keeps, for lack of a better description, going to sleep. I can still use the multi touch zoom function in the browser, but I cannot screen flick or get the icons to respond. I can hold the bottom of the screen and turn off and on and sometimes this will repair the problem. It seems to recur randomly. Is there any place to look in the log file to see what is causing this? I'm at a total loss after 6 or so roms and still no go. I tried the stripped down rom labeled TMO-OTA-US-DRC83-Rooted_update and also the expansion pack to no avail. I can't really believe this is hardware related since it's random and fixes with a power cycle most times. I'm just finding it annoying as hell, and I hope someone might be able to point me in the right direction.
I've done the bootloader flash/delete data and re-installed each time.
Latest rom from Cyanogen isCyanogen mod 4.2.4
Kernel version is 2.6.29.6-cm42 (does this matter? I include because I'm not sure)
Thanks
Mike
Maybe this will help
look for a post on how to install cyanogen rom on your MTY3 and dowlaod the rooted rom there.
secondly,
see this thread and the last post from me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583683
I've done multiple re-installs. The same problem keeps resurfacing within minutes.
I can use the touch screen and then it craps out. Oddly it will many times still allow pinch and zoom multi-touch in the browser. But single touch, such as in typing web addresses etc. , does not work.
Does anyone have an idea as to why this might be happening? Is there a particular file that is escaping the wipe/ reboot and reload process that is still not being replaced.
I'm curious if the Kernel has anything to do with this.
Any ideas?
Mike.
try redownloading the rom and the htc image like redownloading from the source wipe the ext erior partition as well pretty much completely restart the process except keep root lol... if that doesnt work then you need to unroot and reroot the bad boy all a learning experiance
Wipe the exterior partition? Doesn't this occur when I do a wipe/data? I have never partitioned the sd card. It has been the same since I received it. Will this affect the screen behavior?
Thanks for the input
Mike
oh well I figured you would be running apps2sd which requires a exterior partition or ext2/3/4 as some may call it... most roms require a wipe of that as some storage will transfer to there and cause problems ona seperate rom for some but if yours is a fresh sdcard then the only thing I can suggest is get a redownload of the cyan rom
Hello community of XDA, I was hoping you could help me with an issue I'm experiencing with my HTC One S. Sometimes when I unlock the phone to respond to a text message or do anything really (it's just most noticeable on the keyboard) there will be a dead spot on the screen. The pixels work but none of my touches register. The spots where this happens are not always the same but the same spots will pop back up from time to time. An example of what happens is I unlock the phone, pull up the keyboard, and try to type out a message but some of the keys won't respond to a touch or will just register the key next to it. The odd thing about this is, I'll relock the phone, unlock it again, and that dead spot will be fully functional again. It's never the same spot twice and I know it's not the keyboard because this occurs if I am on the home screen trying to swipe pages or scrolling through the browser. I have not attempted fully wiping and restoring the device because I do not have a sufficient internet connection to re-setup (if you will) all my settings, and I do not want to use Titanium Backup or another backup app because the problem may be something hidden in all those files. Has this happened to anyone else/does anyone know what I can do to solve my problem? Feedback and help is greatly appreciated because the warranty was void after the phone had been unlocked through HTCDev.com. I am currently running xkonni's latest CM9 build (from the 31st if I remember correctly). Thank you very much I appreciate it.

I have never heard of something like this happening, seems like youve got a unique problem my good friend
The best thing to do would be to restore to your stock RUU and relock the bootloader and send it back to HTC. Many peope report that they have relocked their bootloader and HTC has still replaced or repaired their phone
Now I understand your hesitation doing this, so in my opinion the only other thing you could do is a stock wipe. Unfortunately i cant help you with your internet speed, but really its all you can do. The easiest way to get completely back to stock is to follow this guide:
http://www.htconeforum.com/forum/htc-one-s-hacks/389-how-unbrick-restore-your-htc-one-s-back-100-stock-relocked.html
If you have already tried flashing new roms and the issue persists, then it is most defiantly a problem that only HTC can fix, sorry to say
happy troubleshooting!
:EDIT:
I FORGOT SOMETHING
The easiest way to find out if this is in your system or your apps is to do a factory reset
Go into recovery, make a backup, wipe DATA and CACHE and reboot. Your phone should be stock cm9 now, check if the issue exists
If it doesnt, its your apps
If it does, you still need to try flashing a new rom or going back to stock with the RUU
