I don't know what the deal is, I had them this morning, and even after a restore, I don't have any of my Input methods anymore. They all show but when I select one it doesn't apply. I should have:
Block Recognizer
Compact QWERTY
Full QWERTY
Keyboard (it defaults to this every time)
Letter Recognizer
Phone Keyboard
Transcriber
I have recently installed the new Landscape Full Manila update but I had these options even after that.
Anyone know how I can reinstall these options?! I hate that default keyboard!
It seems like they are all there still, like I can see options for them all, etc but it just wont change, also its like the small arrow by the keyboard isn't activated and I cant click it, I can change the default keyboard from small to large, but that's it!
ERRRR, what pisses me off is I backup ALL THE TIME, before every app install even, and when I do a restore, it still doesn't work, WTF good are backups then! Or does Spite Backup just suck and I should be using another?
This worrying about everything from one min to the next with this device is the only bad thing about it.
The only suggestion I have for you is to do a hard reset and restore using the most recent back up file until you find a back up file that works for you. I have used sprite back up many times before but this has never happened to me.
Are you using the stock Fuze ROM?
Yeah I'm using the stock ROM but I bypassed the bloatware and installed TF3D that was just released in the software thread, the full one with landscape mode.
I tried several backups and none worked, strange, not sure what caused this but I did find a work-around, its a small app called SIPChange, it was a shot in the dark but it worked for me, for anyone else with this issue, try it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271008
This actually even fixed the little arrow issue I have that wasn't letting me select the Input method on the fly, I did notice it loads at every reset tho, I don't care as long as it works!
Thanks guys, I hope this thread will help anyone else with the issue.

Hello Everyone.
First off thanks to everyone for making the android system do what it is supposed to. I have rooted my G1 and updated the firmware to 5.0.2Hr3_zh_signed build Plat-RC33 126986. I have noticed two things so far...Its seems to run very very slow for pretty much everything. I think it may be due to the fact that I am only running on a 1gb memory card. If thats the case please let me know what I need. I am not concerned with saving apps to the SD Card as I dont use many. I was more concerned with the Exchange as well os on screen keyboard. My only problem is the Keyboard doesnt even popup. While in messaging I tap where it tells me to but nothing happens. Any suggestions or am I missing something here?
It's called laggg. Apparently the phone can't handle it at times, so the keyboard doesn't pop-up. THe only way I solved this problem is by maxing out my CPU. Then it seems that the H build works flawlessly.
"It's called laggg. Apparently the phone can't handle it at times, so the keyboard doesn't pop-up. THe only way I solved this problem is by maxing out my CPU. Then it seems that the H build works flawlessly."
How exactly do I do that?
I have the same problem with no keyboard, but I am using apps to sd card. I was kind of surprised when i installed the h build that it basically wiped my phone even though i only hit alt-s, and never did alt-w. That didn't happen when i installed the g build. Any idea if that has anything to do with no soft keyboard popping up? I even installed the modified keyboard apk from the other thread.
Another question i have is if you have the phones speed maxed like you said you did if that drains the battery extra fast. It would seem like it would.
Edit: oh yeah, when i long press on a text field a pop up for changing input option comes up but there aren't any options to choose. Nothing. Any ideas?
Edit 2: No sooner do I post this then i go into the phone menu, choose Locale and Text, change the TouchInput Keyboard Type from qwerty to Compact Qwerty. CQ works so i change back to Qwerty and voila! soft keyboard. I don't know if it is key.apk but it is a soft keyboard, and that's progress.
Hi there
I updated my ROM today from the HTC website (1.90.421.1) and although everything seems to be working well, a very funny issue started. I've searched the forums for something on this but I couldn't find anything. If I open the keyboard the phone correctly switch to landscape mode, but if I close the keyboard the screen doesn't switch back to portrait mode - it stays in landscape mode (doesn't matter if I am in an application or only on TouchFLO). If I switch the screen off and on it correctly switches back to portrait mode. I've calibrated by G-sensor, and I have uninstalled all programs to see if this might solve the issue (it didn't). I've soft and hard reset but this also didn't fix the problem. Everything else seems to be working 100% - the screen just doesn't switch back to portrait when I close the keyboard.
Any ideas?
I would try another ROM.
I flash my TP just about every day. Not because I Have to!...(well,,, maybe just a little) But mainly just to see and feel all the new roms in here.
I am now using my own WinMo 6.5 I "Double clicked" together using Da_G's 6.5 Microwave Kitchen.
Give'em all a try
Hi everyone.
I managed to pinpoint the problem - it was when I restored my backup (Sprite). It seems as if the backup tried to restore the ROM as well, and that got things a bit tangled up. If I just flash the ROM, everything works great (especially the start-up speed improved a lot). I couldn't figure out how to just restore my contact list from the Sprite backup (I thought wrongly that Sprite would at least make that easy...). I rather typed in my contact list from scratch and installed all my programs again. It only took an hour or so and the performance increase was well worth it. If any of you know how to only restore your contact list from a Sprite backup it would be greatly appreciated if you could share that with me (for future ROM upgrades).

I had a similar problem after restoring a Sprite backup. I had to hard-reset and not use the backup. For future ROM upgrades I would say that if your only requirement is to restore contacts then a much simpler solution is just to sync with outlook before changing ROM and then sync again later...
Yep. Me too. Tried the "Level 1" restore when I flashed the new ROM.
I just had this same problem, when trying to restore a warranty exchange phone using Sprite. I'd rather not reinstall and reconfigure everything, but I guess i could. Does anyone know what part of the OS is responsible for the rotation after keyboard is closed? I'll just leave that out of the restore if I can figure out what it is.
Has anyone looked further into this issue? I too had to get a replacement Fuze and used Sprite to backup my data; not just contacts, but all the registry hacks and also installed software. It would be a real pain (more so than the landscape rotation issue) to reinstall and re-customize it all again. I'm not sure what cabs and reg edits I applied. So, it there is a simpler registry edit I can do to correct this, it would be great!
I also noticed that it doesn't always rotate to landscape when the keyboard is pulled out also.
Thanks!
So now with the dual boot options posted and available for such a wide range of devices, i've decided to try android out and check on its progress.
I have had issues with my keyboard ever since WM6.5 had been leaked.. so its been for a while now. i would have to press very hard on my backspace key, and my spacebar would be hit or miss. I would hit it, and sometimes get multiple spaces, other times nothing at all.
I even flashed the default ATT stock rom to see if it was a rom problem.. there have been many threads about this saying that this was a hardware problem, and i hate to open a new one, but i think this deserves a new thread.
I installed android this morning, and ALL my keys work as they are supposed to. So i would like to get confirmations from other people with this issue on Windows Mobile, by having them try android and see.
I return to windows mobile and the problem still exists. I go back to android and the problem is gone! so i can confirm this is NOT A HARDWARE ISSUE
I will upload videos later.
Contact AT&T warranty about this, and try to convince them to give you a Tilt 2, tell them you don't want to have the same phone and keep having problems and then having to replace it again and want to stay a happy customer.
im guessing its a conflict between the two, but thats just my guess, not totally sure why, try taking out ur memory card and soft reset or if ure phone is fresh from flashing, try a hard reset and dont put the card in yet, do a quick test on office mobile and see if the problem still exist
Nothing makes the spacebar problem go away on WinMo. It works in some ROM's (very few) but most of the ROM's the spacebar problem is back. I can confirm it is not a hardware issue. I just need to hunt for the ROM's on which the space bar used to work. I will try Andriod and report back if the spacebar issue is gone. Downloading now
I can now confirm. The spacebar has issueon EnergyROM but has no issues while using android. TurboX2 good job on noticing this.
Next question how do we go about fixing this?
tael and energy gave me issues, my current one is captains and have no spacebar issue here
so does this mean that the keyboard issue is something that could potentially be solved with some modification to the keyboard driver?
i have a feeling that this will never be solved :/
the whole scenario just doesn't make sense.. like i said... you would think reverting back to stock should have made the keyboard work again.. but nope not for me at least
If I had to guess, I would think that the results you are seeing is a result of either a more sensitive driver or a driver with a more effective signal parser that can distinguish the button press despite the hardware being worn. I'm not sure how that could be used to our advantage but at least its something to go on.
Okay, so shortly after flashing CM7, every five minutes or so a key on my (Gingerbread) keyboard stops working. After trying some things (like pushing a little harder, clicking other things) it works again. But then it happens to another key! I think I read one thread somewhere on the internet with some people saying using a different fixes the problem.. But I don't think it does :/ And I can't find any other threads about this problem. I can't even find that one again! Has anyone else been experiencing issues like this? Is this a problem with the ROM maybe? Things worked fine on all of my other ROMs, and the stock ROM. I'm really worried, and I hope this isn't a permanent issue. Sending my device back to get replaced would be really screwy for my schedules. I'm using an Inspire 4G btw, if that matters to any of you.
Anyone? Any tips? I can't tell if it really is a hardware issue or software

I have this issue with my stock inspire along with several others. Every now and then a key gets stuck and will not respond. I have to re-boot my phone. Right now I am using swype and so for it has not locked up any keys as of yet for about a week. It was happening to me approx once every 7 to 10 days. No fix that I know of. Hope they correct this issue with 2.3
I second the Swype keyboard - can't live without it!
:side note:
I'm using the latest version (I think) and the only issue that I've had is when I reboot the phone, sometimes the keyboard will work but the swiping feature will not (blue border flashes around the keyboard instead of posting the word I spelled). The fix is easy - go to Language and Keyboard, uncheck the box for Swype, run the Swype installer, click Enable swype, select it as the keyboard when the installer pops up the box for Input Type, and you're good to go (if it ever happens).
Hi,
I am sort of new to this forum and I hope I am posting this in the right place. Apologies if there is a thread about this elsewhere but I have looked online and couldn't find a thread about this issue. It is hard for me to describe in words about the issue I am facing but I will try and be as descriptive as possible
For quite sometime now I find that my nexus 5 keyboard has become extremely glitchy and choppy. I find that the keyboard isn't as smooth as it was when I first got my device. There seems to be a bit of a lag between the time I press the key to the when the characters actually appear. It is very apparent when I am typing sentences in one flow. This is causing too many typos and is extremely annoying. I could, at one time, comfortably type long text messages with hardly any typos. The typos that I get can be considered almost impossible to generate unless you are willingly typing random characters
I am on android 4.4.4 and this problem has existed for the past couple of months. I don't have any custom firmware installed. My frequently used messaging apps are Viber, WhatsApp and Google hangouts. But this issue seems to be there even when I am typing something in the browser
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Have you tried a different keyboard? Like SwiftKey

Hi MasterElaichi and welcome to the forums.
The keyboard that your using for your messaging apps is the same as the one in your browser also... Im pretty sure that it's the Google keyboard by default.
I actually use Android Keyboard (AOSP) instead of the standard Google Keyboard and can switch between the two if I want the the system settings menu.
Couple things you could try-
To start you can go to "System Settings/Language and Input" then scroll down to keyboard and input methods. Click on the settings menu to the right of the Google keyboard or what ever keyboard you have selected. and go through you settings and make sure everything is set to your preference (just by chance somehow the settings have change) and check your auto correction aggressiveness, I have mine set to Modest.
Other than that you can try and and go to "System Settings/Apps/All" then select Google keyboard and clear the Data and Cache. This will wipe you personal dictionary if you have one though.
If the following doesn't work and the Google keyboard keeps acting up, you might want to try an different keyboard all together. Like Android Keyboard (AOSP) or Swiftkwey or Kii keyboard... Just some popular one to recommend.
Hi,
Thanks for all your responses. I have tried swiftkey in the past but I find it weird. For some reason I prefer a standard keyboard
My google keyboard settings are set to the default. I have turned off vibrations and the auto correct is set at modest. I have tried clearing the cache numerous times in the past but that doesn't work either
If I were to type this message using my Nexus 5, it would be riddled with typos and spaceless words. I am talking about typos that are impossible to get when you are in the flow and just typing away. For example, when I want to type "m', the letter "m" pops up, but the character that appears in the text area is either "." or the previous character would have disappeared. Similar thing with space bars. Sometimes pressing a space bar will just create a space but the characters may not appear
I have tried using my phone in safe mode but it helps only a little bit. I did contact the google support centre. As expected, they are asking me to do a factory reset and if that doesn't work they say they will rma my phone
Hi,
I uninstalled apps like Viber and Whatsapp thinking they could be the cause. I have also been running my device on safe mode. The problem still persists
I found this thread online. My problem is quite similar this one here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274818
The only difference is that the OP here had an issue with an HTC. The problem appears to be keys that are close together are getting pressed. And I am certain my finger's aren't that fat and stubby that multiple keys get pressed
I don't want to factory reset my phone without exhausting all my options to fix this problem. Any input will be helpful
Thank you
So I have decided to do a hard reset on my phone hoping that would resolve my keyboard issue. I have managed to backup my photos and stuff to google doc. i wanted to back up my whatsapp data onto my laptop but for some reason my laptop (vista) isn't detecting my phone
I have reinstalled whatsapp in the past after removing and I didn't lose my whatsapp data. Do you think a hard reset will make my whatsapp data irretrievable? I am asking because there is an option in whatsapp, when you install it, that asks if you want to back up conversations

if you hard reset and wipe the internal memory then your whatsapp back up will be deleted.
Try and uninstall any keyboard updates you may have done.
I would say the same thing and it would be the first thing I would try, uninstall the updates and data in settings/apps. The google keyboard works fine on my N5 and N7.
I performed a wipe cache partition through recovery mode. There seems to be some improvement but it is too soon to tell
