'Cell Profiler' is a location based profile manager for all HTC phones running Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition (XDA/XDA2/MDA/MDA2/I-MATE/QTEK).
'Cell Profiler' - a unique software for Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition
that allows you to trigger events based on your current location.
It's been designed to run all the time in the background of your PDA - even when the device is turned off.
'Cell Profiler' utilizes special data which GSM networks provide to determine the PDAs current location.
This service is free, except the small fee you have to pay for the 'Cell Profiler' software itself.
'Cell Profiler' can automatically mute your device upon entering your office
or it could display notes that you've took during the weekend as soon as you
enter the campus area.
But there is much more power in this application,
'Cell Profiler' can automatically wake you up once your train arrives at it's
destination or it changes your today theme when you come home.
There are much more events that you can assosicate to a cell which will can
be triggered upon entering it:
-Change Device Volume
-Change Phone Volume
-Send a SMS to a Pocket Outlook contact
( tell someone that you are now at your destination,
tell your wife that you are coming home,
useful for theft protection,
and much more... )
-Start an executable file ( exe )
-Start an audio file ( mp3, wma, ogg, wav, midi )
-Change your current today theme ( tsk files )
-Display a picture ( jpeg, bmp )
-Open a Pocket Word document ( psw )
-Open a Pocket Excel document ( pxl )
-Open a note file ( pwi )
-Open standard text file ( txt )
Assign multiple cells into one group has even more advantages:
-Change the ringtone upon entering a group
-Change the ringstyle upon entering a group
-All events that a single cell can handle
It is also possible to log a whole trip, every cell from start to end with the login time of each cell. You can save such a route to load it at a later time
or send it to another 'Cell Profiler' user via Infrared or Bluetooth.
Sometimes there are multiple cells for an area like a big office,
to prevent the user from having 5 profiles for the same area,
he can group these 5 cells to a group and assign the same profile to all cells.
But using groups doesn't limit the user to the same profile for each cell in a group - it's optional.
'Cell Profiler' can also show you detailed information about the cell you are
currently logged into ( like signal strength in DBM ). The windows contents
will be expanded with further versions as we do more research on what type of
information can be recieved from the network for free.
It is also possible to export or import selected groups and their cell ids.
Exporting or importing will only export the cell's name and id - no profile is
beeing exported or imported.
'Cell Profiler' offers you to automatically send the exported data via
Infrared or Bluetooth.
The future for this feature is to 'share' information about the GSM cells with other users using the internet to create a hugh online database, which
'Cell Profiler' again could contact to tell you where you are at using a GPRS online connection.
That's not everything you can also have 4 quick profiles which are not
location based that you can access from the today screen for instant profile changes!

You can also download Cell Profiler BASIC which is freeware with limited functions but no time limitation, and no save limitation.
Questions? Email: [email protected]

i get emails about people not finding it on handago yet...
it's not activated as real handago item, but you can already but it.
using the link about, alot of people already did so it is working.
someone should really close the old thread, it's a little bit weird as it is with the old thread being on top of the new one

I can confirm this. It just do nothing. The "old" beta version worked fine, but not the final release....
So dutty have to do some research, or all Wallaby users can save their money...
Stefan

I confirm this so.

what exactly happens? no error message?
if you had the beta installed you should delete the old ini file!!!

yes, it was an incompatability issue. i've fixed this with 1.02

okay, so it definitivly works on XDA1. can you please be detailed about your configuration so i can help more xda1 users.

A new version has been released!
Version 1.02
Check www.cell-profiler.de for updates and news!
If you are a registered user you will automatically recieve news&download location about this version.
If you are using the basic version you will have to redownload the file from handago again, if the name is cp102basic.exe handango already updated the site.

I have an XDA1 and i must not use the program: when i try to scan i receive the message: "failed to set IoControl".
I don't understand if it's a device's problem, a radio's problem or...
Can you help me?
Thanks.

The ultimate Question tracking your XDAII around the world

After FINALY finding a working way to get TomTom nav 2 working on my XDA2
(with the Lead from the XDA.1)
I was Driveing arround and Thourt to myself...
Is there a way to Transmit my GPS Map refrence point Via GPRS
Back to my home PC where the Map refrence can be Linked
to an on screen map at home?
Much the same way the GPS plotting is linked to TomTom Maps
for navigateing.
been thinking about this more today.
shurely the data from the GPS isnt too big,
If there was a way to relay the data onto a IP address (home pc)
and have a Map program like TomToms understand that data
in the same way TomTom maps do, then you (or ya missus)
could track your position.
ok mebe not in real time, but im not a Tech so i have no idea how much
Data is involved in GPS plotting but a 5 second delay wouldnt be bad would it?
this is kinda the way GPS tracking works in tracking stolen cars i guess
but now we have GPS on our lovley XDA2's we to can transmit that data
Via GPRS couldnt we ?
I think you can have a look at this solution:
http://www.geocities.com/gps2sms/
It's using SMS, GPS to track your current coordinate. It's free. You could tailor it if you want.
Sorry I forgot to mention that currently it works with Nokia or Siemens phone with a laptop. The Nokia phones are there to act as the modem.
It doesn't work with XDA but I was just thinking about thse app's idea of using the phone to send the current coordinate. the O2 can replace the laptop and send using SMS or GPRS to a central location (your server) and updates it real time
I am doing a program for the XDA II that will send your GPS location back to a given number i will post a few screen shots if you like.
You will be able to select any com port that you like it works at the moment with All TOMTOM devices.
Paul J
DA Systems & their Nexus/NX product for the XDA1 & 2
I have done simillar using area codes and also with fixed GPRS/GPS units.
You need to send Lat/Long & ID to specific IP/port via GPRS, then add that to a database, which can be parsed by a mapping program such as MapPoint.
Cheaper than SMS

This is the Com port Bit and the GPS bit
I will post more later
Wireless Delivered (www.talecom.net) has been doing this for over a year using the XDA I!
It even has an real-time map online where you can go and look at where your XDA is! 8)
Richard
Ah! But has it being working for over a year?
Sorry - couldn't resist
intresting stuff
but is there a simple app that i can hunt the net for ?
no thats why i am doing one
I work for a company that uses tracking (GPS) phones and we have looked for a system for the ipaq and the xda that we could use in our software.
I use http://www.mapamobile.co.uknot very accurate though
but can u still use your gps?
if I understand you correctly, if your code is running, my wife can
see where I am from home, but I can't run my moving map
what we really need is to "install" a new COM5 etc port,
so that TomTom reads COM5, our program reads COM4
where the real GPS is installed, and send it over SMS/GPRS.
Scheme
GPS -> COM4 -> sent to home
-> also copied to COM5 -> local GPS(tomtom) display
I'm not sure how to setup a "virtual COM" on PPC. It is pretty
easy to implement on UNIX (virtual tty).
Ideally, someone should write a "dblCOM" utility.
it takes COM4 and copies its output to COM5 and COM6 ...
it takes input from either COM5/6 and copies back to COM4 ...
(com# are configurable of course)
this way we can run TWO DIFFERENT GPS SOFTWARES at the same
time. this is far more useful than you might think... one could be
a visual display of your speed/acceleration/etc, the other moving map.
serial+gps+camera+voice record+gprs in one fast computer box
is a mighty powerful machine.
think of connecting it to the engine monitor in the car and having
a complete monitor, not to mention a blackbox, for every car
on the planet ... you can even pinpoint drunk driving in real time
using special intuitive software ... and the government will probably
make it mandatory in every car before 2020 ... yak.
Did you know that the first matrix was a perfect human world?
It was a disaster...
Get the TomTom SDK & you can do most/all of the above.
The SDK has the ability to make GPS positional data available to another program as well as TomTom. You then just need to create a vehicle for sending the data back to a remote location.
The real question should be - "Do you really want your wife tracking where you are?" 8)
I have been doing this for some time now:
1. Use Oziexplorer for navigation on XDA1 / XDA 2
2. Use Net GPS to send GPS data to a web server through GPRS (Or GSM) (you can use it alone or with Oziexplorer on the XDA)
3. Use Oziexplorer for PC on remote PC, connected to the webserver through Internet
http://www.oziexplorer.com
http://www.gpsvehiclenavigation.com/GPS/netgps.php
Another quite similar project
I like to share this URL of not too dissimilar project by one person which I happened to stumble in the newsgroup:
http://www.brains-n-brawn.com/default.aspx?vDir=nosink
Some source code samples are given to give some idea.
*** Tracking your XDA using GPS ***
Hey you guys
I cant believe that your trying to reinvent the wheel
Have you not heard of Co Pilot Live 4
It does exactly what you want, despite being a better SatNav Program anyway IMHO having street names as well as road numbers read out verbally it also allows you to log on to their website and see EXACTLY where you are and even your direction of travel from your home PC. AND it even allows you to communicate by sending text messages to the PPC with custom design responses.
Imagine the wife can now ask you
What time will you be home from work? [6pm] [7pm] [8pm] [9pm]
Can you pick up little johnny from the School Play? [YES] [NO]
Oh what Joy!!!!
As some poster said "Do you really want your wife to be able to pinpoint the car 24/7
Check out their website

Hope this helps

Pocket OOZ launches Cell Profiler v2 and Pocket Max

Pocket OOZ releases Cell Profiler v2, the long-awaited sequel to Cell Profiler.
Cell Profiler is a location based profile manager for all phones running Windows Mobile Phone Edition.
Cell Profiler is a unique software that allows you to trigger events such as 'ringtone change' or 'file execution' based on your current geographic location.
It has been carefully designed to run in the background of your PDA, even when the device is turned off.
Cell Profiler utilizes special data provided by GSM networks to determine the PDAs current location. This service is free.
All you need to pay for is the small fee charged for the Cell Profiler software itself.
Cell Profiler can automatically mute your device upon entering your office or it could display notes that you have taken during the weekend as soon as you enter the campus area.
Your latest ring tone may sound great at home and socially, but what message is it sending out in work? You might consider a more professional ring tone whilst you are in work. You could use Cell Profiler to adjust your ring tone and volume when you get to work automatically.
Do you give someone a lift to work in the morning? How about automatically sending them a text message to say you are on your way to pick them up?
Cell Profiler can send SMS messages when you enter or leave a group of cells.
If you are into Home Automation, how about using Cell Profiler to send a message to turn on your heating when you leave work? Your house will be nice and warm when you arrive (even if you leave early!).
But there is much more to this application:
Cell Profiler can automatically wake you up once your train arrives at it's destination or it can disable bluetooth as soon as you arrive at home.
With the option to execute a file when you enter or leave an area, what you can achieve with Cell Profiler is really only limited to your imagination.
---
Cell Profiler v2 is a complete rewrite of Cell Profiler v1 featuring new functions and profiles as well as full Windows Mobile 2003 SE and 2005 compatibility.
Besides the new features added to the core application, Cell Profiler v2 comes bundled with Pocket Max, the Swiss-Army Knife for your Pocket PC.

a real hot tool!
I just can recommend it :!:
dutty, great to see you back. Well done on your new version. I see that you have improved it greatly and also enabled unlimited function testing for a limited number of days which was a major limiter to testing version 1.... I have CP2 testing on my XDA2 and have three quick questions.
What happens when you are out of all known profile zones? Is it possible to set one of your Quick Profiles as a default to be used in this case? I could not figure this one out.
Do you know if the software will work on the upcoming HTC Universal? The VGA resolution compatibility is a question.
Finally, can the software function on a regular PocketPC coupled with a Bluetooth enabled phone? I know this is a long shot but thought I should ask since I have some friends using this configuration who were very interested with your software.
Thanks & Best Regards

----------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATED
Version 1.1
- Problems with copy-paste, which hangs the software. (Fixed)
----------------------------------------------------------------
My first PPC program for encrypting information/messages.
I store my information in Outlook Notes (or PPC Notes) to have them synced with my PC. However, there are certain information that just seems too sensitive to be saved in plain text. I have tried those secure database, however, they are just rather a bit.. heavy. I used to have a software in Palm that does just string (i.e. sentence) encrypting, which I find very good. The nearest thing that I've found for myself, is nomb, but I seems to have started to piss the author off a bit with my demand.. and I kinda solve my programming problems thanks to levenum here.
Anyway, the software runs on XXTea cipher as it is easier for me to write from scratch (hence the software itself is VERY small, if I were to get rid of the graphics ). I can do a AES version, but I don't see the point of doing so with nomb around. Anyway...
Suggest usage
--------------------
Information storage: Store your stuff as you already do in your Outlook Note, Contacts, etc securely with encrypted message instead. You may decrypt the information within Blender or some other web pages that use the same algorithm XXTea (i.e. http://www.farfarfar.com/scripts/encrypt/) NOTE: I'm not in any way associate with this site. We are just using the same algorithm. I also have my own Java applet almost ready to be deployed (if anyone is interested) to be hosted on your own webpage, which you will know be always online and secure.
With Blender available in webpages, desktop PC (my Java applet runs as a standalone application too), and Pocket PC, you may actually, encrypt your message and have it written on a piece of paper, to be decrypted anywhere (with or without your Pocket PC)
Message exchange: Send secret message to anyone via SMS. The encrypted message is nearly as long as the original message (approx 25% longer, on block of 4 characters), you can send secret SMS to anyone, with or without a Pocket PC (using webpage decryptor and desktop standand alone application).
Limitation
-----------------
- Does not encrypt message with 4 or less characters
- As with standard XXTea implementation, effective password length of 16 chars
- UNICODE currently not supported
Feed back feedback feedback ...
Links
------------
If you want AES and file encryption, try nomb?
.
Excellent work!!!
Nice work hanmin - I vote for file + folder encryption in a future release.
I keep work related files (network information, passwords etc.) synchronised between my desktop and my PPC; having the ability to encrypt sensitive files in the synchronised folder or just to encrypt the whole folder would be a real bonus (would stop my boss worrying about me losing my phone when I'm on-call and have all these files on there )
Having a choice of different encryption algorithms would be useful to some people, but adding AES, Blowfish, Rijndael etc. would only increase the size of the application and be more difficult to decrypt away from the device. The output from XXtea is meaningless enough (it looks like a MIME encoded email LOL!) so as to prevent people from worrying too much about what it means.
I've downloaded the first version and I'll certainly try it out and give you some feedback....looking forward to any and all new versions already
Cheers,
Mark.
nice!!!!
i too vote for file and folder encryption in a future release.This program in going firmly on my install today list.
Nice work Mr. H
Thanks for this app i vote for folder option as this would most suite my needs

The writing of this application prompted me to check the status of the window in the greenhouse at the cottage, the temperature in the room, the status of the LEDs on the oil heater control panel, weather conditions outside the window, and also to know if the mice are running at night on tables and on sofas (it's time to arrange glue traps or not). That is, security, safety and security. Nobody wants to burn half the street in the village, just because he left the oil heater on full power. If you put the phone in the most prominent place in the middle of the room, so that the front camera was aimed at the weather station screen, and the back camera on furniture and on the street, then all the above requirements can be fulfilled if you take a photo and upload it via email or FTP. It is clear that this is a one-way connection and one can only analyze the incoming information, but nevertheless this is also useful information, because you can call neighbors to run and check what's happened. And all that is needed is an old phone on Android.
1. Observation of the gas boiler.
2. Monitoring the state of the electrical network (sends SMS if the voltage is gone 220V).
3. Monitoring the condition of electrical appliances.
4. Temperature outside and inside the room.
5. Change the control parameters via SMS.
6. Send status reports to e-mail or FTP.
7. Works on all Android, starting with 2.3.
8. Careful of battery charge.
9. The level of the GSM signal.
10. The level of charge of the telephone battery.
11. Saving Internet traffic.

Fotobot 2.4.4
Fotobot is powerful photo server which is running on your device.
Below are main features of Fotobot:
1) connect to Internet via Wi-Fi or MobileData;
2) stays running (doesn't allow Android to kick out from memory);
3) works on all devices starting from Android 2.3;
4) installation package less than 1MB (important for old phones with small amount of internal storage);
5) can be adjusted for slow-CPU devices (has an option for timing between processes);
6) detailed reports in email (signal strength (db), battery charge(%), battery temperature (C), free space (MB));
7) can be controlled via SMS;
8) camera flash;
9) internla/external(SD) storage;
10) offline mode (no emails, just saving photos into storage);
Typical workflow (fast start)
Launch Fotobot and make some important settings
Settings/Behaviour
Camera Name (f.e. Fazenda), helps to sort out email in Inbox.
Pause between frames (sec)
Do not use numbers less than 30sec, cause old phones do not have powerfull CPU for image processing.<br>
Settings/Network
Network
on - photos will be sent to email;
off - photos will be written to SD-card;
Internet connection
Select Wi-Fi, Mobile Data or both
Fotobots email
It sounds strange, but Fotobot has to have it's own email address (use email account with one level authentication (without SMS confirmation)).
Fotobots password
Password for Fotobots email account.
SMTP server and port are very important too. If you created email account for Fotobot on Google Mail leave this fields unchanged.
That's all for fast start, go to main window and press START button, after that Fotobot will start to make photos.
Control via SMS
1) password required in settings;
2) launch Fotobot by pressing START (Fotobot checks for SMS only when started);
3) send SMS to phone with started Fotobot:
