The writing of this application prompted me to check the status of the window in the greenhouse at the cottage, the temperature in the room, the status of the LEDs on the oil heater control panel, weather conditions outside the window, and also to know if the mice are running at night on tables and on sofas (it's time to arrange glue traps or not). That is, security, safety and security. Nobody wants to burn half the street in the village, just because he left the oil heater on full power. If you put the phone in the most prominent place in the middle of the room, so that the front camera was aimed at the weather station screen, and the back camera on furniture and on the street, then all the above requirements can be fulfilled if you take a photo and upload it via email or FTP. It is clear that this is a one-way connection and one can only analyze the incoming information, but nevertheless this is also useful information, because you can call neighbors to run and check what's happened. And all that is needed is an old phone on Android.
1. Observation of the gas boiler.
2. Monitoring the state of the electrical network (sends SMS if the voltage is gone 220V).
3. Monitoring the condition of electrical appliances.
4. Temperature outside and inside the room.
5. Change the control parameters via SMS.
6. Send status reports to e-mail or FTP.
7. Works on all Android, starting with 2.3.
8. Careful of battery charge.
9. The level of the GSM signal.
10. The level of charge of the telephone battery.
11. Saving Internet traffic.

Fotobot 2.4.4
Fotobot is powerful photo server which is running on your device.
Below are main features of Fotobot:
1) connect to Internet via Wi-Fi or MobileData;
2) stays running (doesn't allow Android to kick out from memory);
3) works on all devices starting from Android 2.3;
4) installation package less than 1MB (important for old phones with small amount of internal storage);
5) can be adjusted for slow-CPU devices (has an option for timing between processes);
6) detailed reports in email (signal strength (db), battery charge(%), battery temperature (C), free space (MB));
7) can be controlled via SMS;
8) camera flash;
9) internla/external(SD) storage;
10) offline mode (no emails, just saving photos into storage);
Typical workflow (fast start)
Launch Fotobot and make some important settings
Settings/Behaviour
Camera Name (f.e. Fazenda), helps to sort out email in Inbox.
Pause between frames (sec)
Do not use numbers less than 30sec, cause old phones do not have powerfull CPU for image processing.<br>
Settings/Network
Network
on - photos will be sent to email;
off - photos will be written to SD-card;
Internet connection
Select Wi-Fi, Mobile Data or both
Fotobots email
It sounds strange, but Fotobot has to have it's own email address (use email account with one level authentication (without SMS confirmation)).
Fotobots password
Password for Fotobots email account.
SMTP server and port are very important too. If you created email account for Fotobot on Google Mail leave this fields unchanged.
That's all for fast start, go to main window and press START button, after that Fotobot will start to make photos.
Control via SMS
1) password required in settings;
2) launch Fotobot by pressing START (Fotobot checks for SMS only when started);
3) send SMS to phone with started Fotobot:
[SMS body]
passwd pass
update 300
network on
log on
flash on
jpg 50
status on
Description:
passwd - password

Cell Profiler 1.0 available now on Handago!

Sorry that I created another CP thread, but the old one was beta related so it would be nice if a moderator could either delete/close or move it.

'Cell Profiler' is a location based profile manager for all HTC phones running Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition (XDA/XDA2/MDA/MDA2/I-MATE/QTEK).
'Cell Profiler' - a unique software for Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition
that allows you to trigger events based on your current location.
It's been designed to run all the time in the background of your PDA - even when the device is turned off.
'Cell Profiler' utilizes special data which GSM networks provide to determine the PDAs current location.
This service is free, except the small fee you have to pay for the 'Cell Profiler' software itself.
'Cell Profiler' can automatically mute your device upon entering your office
or it could display notes that you've took during the weekend as soon as you
enter the campus area.
But there is much more power in this application,
'Cell Profiler' can automatically wake you up once your train arrives at it's
destination or it changes your today theme when you come home.
There are much more events that you can assosicate to a cell which will can
be triggered upon entering it:
-Change Device Volume
-Change Phone Volume
-Send a SMS to a Pocket Outlook contact
( tell someone that you are now at your destination,
tell your wife that you are coming home,
useful for theft protection,
and much more... )
-Start an executable file ( exe )
-Start an audio file ( mp3, wma, ogg, wav, midi )
-Change your current today theme ( tsk files )
-Display a picture ( jpeg, bmp )
-Open a Pocket Word document ( psw )
-Open a Pocket Excel document ( pxl )
-Open a note file ( pwi )
-Open standard text file ( txt )
Assign multiple cells into one group has even more advantages:
-Change the ringtone upon entering a group
-Change the ringstyle upon entering a group
-All events that a single cell can handle
It is also possible to log a whole trip, every cell from start to end with the login time of each cell. You can save such a route to load it at a later time
or send it to another 'Cell Profiler' user via Infrared or Bluetooth.
Sometimes there are multiple cells for an area like a big office,
to prevent the user from having 5 profiles for the same area,
he can group these 5 cells to a group and assign the same profile to all cells.
But using groups doesn't limit the user to the same profile for each cell in a group - it's optional.
'Cell Profiler' can also show you detailed information about the cell you are
currently logged into ( like signal strength in DBM ). The windows contents
will be expanded with further versions as we do more research on what type of
information can be recieved from the network for free.
It is also possible to export or import selected groups and their cell ids.
Exporting or importing will only export the cell's name and id - no profile is
beeing exported or imported.
'Cell Profiler' offers you to automatically send the exported data via
Infrared or Bluetooth.
The future for this feature is to 'share' information about the GSM cells with other users using the internet to create a hugh online database, which
'Cell Profiler' again could contact to tell you where you are at using a GPRS online connection.
That's not everything you can also have 4 quick profiles which are not
location based that you can access from the today screen for instant profile changes!

okay, so it definitivly works on XDA1. can you please be detailed about your configuration so i can help more xda1 users.
A new version has been released!
Version 1.02
Check www.cell-profiler.de for updates and news!
If you are a registered user you will automatically recieve news&download location about this version.
If you are using the basic version you will have to redownload the file from handago again, if the name is cp102basic.exe handango already updated the site.
I have an XDA1 and i must not use the program: when i try to scan i receive the message: "failed to set IoControl".
I don't understand if it's a device's problem, a radio's problem or...
Can you help me?
Thanks.

[APP][2.3+] PiLc 2.0 - Secure alternative to Google Latitude for Android

Hi guys !
PiLc is a secure location sharing platform with end-to-end encryption, so you can safely share your real-time location with your friends, and no one else.
Link : https://pi.lc
Google Play : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lc.pi
It provides a simple and straightforward user interface that hides effectively the complex operations needed to establish cryptographically secure communication channels. As a result, PiLc works just like any other sharing application and does all the critical key generations and exchanges in the background without bothering you with the technical stuff.

}
On the main PiLc screen, you have access to a general view of your friends locations. The PiLc app also uses your own mobile device GPS and compass (if available) to determine their distance and heading in real time.
A tap on a friend opens the map interface where you can visually locate and track them. A long press opens the friend dialog to manage your sharing preferences.
PiLc optionally uses a third party reverse geocoding service to provide a real street address instead of raw GPS coordinates to your friends. This of course could leak potentially sensitive data to the geocoding service provider (Google on Android) and that is why our default settings is to have it disabled.
Battery usage is often a problem for location tracking mobile applications, and PiLc does everything possible to consume as little power as possible, fetching location when other foreground apps ask for it and keeping the GPS on time to a strict minimum.
PiLc uses end-to-end encryption to ensure that your location data is only made available to whom you publish it for. We accomplish this by storing decryption keys on users mobile devices and nowhere else, so even the PiLc servers never store decrypted data nor decryption keys.
When you first run the app and create a PiLc account, your device generates a pair of 256-bit ECC keys and sends the public key to our servers. The private key is stored on the mobile device, encrypted using AES and a 256-bit key derived from your password using the PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 algorithm.
Once you have registered, your device sends periodic location updates to the PiLc servers over HTTPS. For every location update, your device generates a new ephemeral random 128-bit AES key and uses it to encrypt your location data. The ephemeral key is then published to each of your friends with whom you want to share using the ECDH key agreement algorithm. In order to prevent MITM type attacks, every public key your device fetches from the PiLc servers is authenticated using 256-bit ECDSA.

Thank you for your feedback, did the whole phone crash / reboot ? If it did I doubt the app had something to do with it.
About using existing accounts, this may become an option in the future, but really Google and privacy don't go well together in the mind of privacy couscious users.
This would be great if you had an ios and Java clients too.

PiLc version 2.0 is now available, new features include :
- lots of UI improvements
- option to sync keys and friends between devices and desktop browsers
- can now publish location to self, useful for tracking a lost or stolen device
- added Google and Bing (street and hybrid) mapping options
- option to show/hide exit button
- small bug fixes
It's sad I don't need this, because it's a really polished and cool app.

Confused! Why a second thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-convoy-geographic-intelligence-t3348616/page2
The not loosing your group when somewhere unkwown is pretty interesting.
My little report to this beautiful app:
1. Not available in German Play Store
2. Phone verification only for US and Canadian phone numbers only
3. Activities: Sync Phone contacts does not seem to work
Have shouted my first message already 4 times
4. Administrative accounts: after setting an account up and after the pop up that the other comrade can log on with the new credentials, the comrade does not show in administrative accounts, so for now I would have to run an external list to keep track of who I set it up for
5. My comrade cannot see me even though I turned the toggles all on green, she did the same and I find her no problem
6. Scanning a comrade bar code does not work, I get the message that an error occurred with my camera and I may have to restart. However camera works fine in other apps also the ones that use barcode scans
7. Where can I see which version I've got?
8. One of the accounts I'm connected with has not updated since 18 hours even though the phone is on.
9. An administered account can't see an administrator, is that correct?
Could you provide a direct download of the apk, so I can be certain to always have the latest version, even though I've have it installed I can't get updates from Google Play Store.
Will report later after testing a bit more, but all in all its a wonderful app.
Thanks.

[APP] Picture Manager - Rename pictures with a timestamp and organize to folders

}
What is Picture Manager?
Some manufactures like HTC and Sony (probably some more) save pictures taken with an incremented number in the filename, instead with a timestamp like other manufactures do.
When you factory reset your device, buy a new device or clean flash a custom rom, the camera picture counter gets reset and starts with e.g. IMAG_00001 again.
This can be an issue once you backup your files to a harddrive on your PC, because you will have duplicate filenames, although the pictures are actually different.
Picture Manager solves this problem by renaming your taken pictures with a timestamp format that you can select or even define yourself.
You can either start a batch process before you backup your pictures to your HDD, or automatically let Picture Manager rename your files in the background.
Another nice feature Picture Manager offers is that you can let it organize your taken pictures into folders that are named by the year, month and even day.
That will help you to quickly find your pictures again and brings some organization into you pictures.
Requirements
You have to be on at least Android 5.0 Lollipop
How does it work
Picture Manager relies on the EXIF Metadata that is stored into each picture. The EXIF Metadata contains a lot of information, the one Picture Manager needs is the date the picture was taken.
With that information Picture Manager can reliably rename and organize your pictures.
Tasker Plugin
Picture Manager comes with a Tasker Action Plugin. That means that you can start a batch process on different events, like time, when usb gets connected etc.
Premium features
If you want to use the custom format, background service or the Tasker plugin you need to upgrade to the premium version.
To upgrade you can use an in app purchase. Or you paypal me and I mail you a premium code. That way google doesn't get 30% of the income.
Downloads
Picture Manager is available in the playstore:
FAQ
Q: What about videos?
A: Picture Manager can also handle mp4 recorded videos.
Q: What about other manufactures than HTC and Sony?
A: I just know about those two that use an incremented number in their filename. If you know more, let me know. If your files are already timestamped you can still use the organizer to move your files into timestamped folders.
Q: After using the organizer I have sometimes missing files in my gallery?
A: Use the media scanner built in Picture Manager to make those files visible.
Q: Will the background service drain a lot of battery?
A: Picture Manager makes use of Androids JobSheduler, like Google Photos and Amazon Photos instant upload and is very battery friendly. When checking GSAM stats, it is nearly at the very bottom of the list.
Version 1.1.0 available
Additions and updates:
Timestamper format is shown more user friendly now
Added an info button to the custom format field with some examples.
Added "Month as number" switch to organizer tab. Default now, since that way your folders are properly ordered
Fixes:
Fixed Picture Manager not working on external sdcards
Fixed force close caused by JobShedulder getting triggered by batch organizer
Tasker plugin shouldn't need reboot anymore after unlocking premium
16. June ◦ Picture Manager 1.6.0
• Fixed force closes when the service runs
• Fixed progress freezing on Android 5.0 when starting a batch process
• Fixed progress freezing when selected folder has no files
• Fixed rating dialog popping up instead of wizard on first start
• Notification with progressbar shows now during a batch process. Can help that the app is not getting killed by the OS
• Added service trigger delay setting
• Added notification setting
• Logs can be opened now with an external viewer.
