Help!! How do i get sound from notes from XDA to PC - General Topics

Does anyone know?
Phone conversation recorded into a note and
The sound is contained within a note, and I want to transfer it into a wav or mp3 file for editing

With Active sync, explore the PPC on your PC, find the file and copy it onto your PC, I just tried it, it works. Its a PCM audio file

Question related to both previous postings...
Could you confirm that you can records conversation of both parties on the notes while having conversation on XDA II???
i tried and was unpleasantly surprised to hear only my voice

I found this :
Recording Voice Call
Recording during voice call with the XdaII will not record both party's voices, the other party's voice will not be recorded.

this is what I am talking about...

I have the MDA2 (which is actually an XDAII QTek 2020 and IMate2) and I can record phone conversations without a problem.
But I think that the voice recorder is actually picking up the other person's voice through the microphone, since I usually get better recordings if I'm on speakerphone mode. Go figure...
But hey, it works!
Regards,
Rayan

Speakerphone? that would explain why both parties recorded in your case, but the problem is - you not always capable to use speakerphone when you need to record something

True, but I have tried to record even without speakerphone and it works too, but the speakerphone has better results though. Try it.

shows up as outlook notes
Whenever I make a recording with my xda I I can pick up both parties no problem. The problem I am having is that when I copy the file to my hard drive it shows up as a note file. The only program I have found that can open it is outlook and it just shows up blank. A friend told me about a free converter on microsoft's website but I forgot what it is called and don't know how to describe it. Thanks.

In that case do the following:
When in a call instead of using the phone's integrated notes application to record a conversation you can start the normal standalone version of notes so while on a call go to Start/Notes and hit the little tape on the bottom and then the record button. This way the recording will be saved as an independent PCM file and not as a note file with the PCM file attached.
Transfer the recording to the pc and voila!
Best regards,
Rayan

hmm...
that worked great thanks. do you have any idea how to detach a sound wave from a note, because the sound is balanced a lot better (ie: your way I am too loud and the other person is too low)? Thanks again.
-Ross

I remember posting about this somewhere but totally forgot where and when so il briefly mention it again.
Use ActiveSync's browse function to find the .pwi file containg the sound clip you want and copy it to your pc.
Load this .pwi file in Microsoft Word. Word may take a while opening the file and display a conversion security warning.
You will eventually see a blank document or the text/handwrriting portion of your note and a speaker icon. Double click the speaker icon.
Sound recorder should then load with the .wav file of your recording. Either use this to save the file directly somewhere, or browse your temporary folder and take the .wav file from there.
I have never had any problems recording both parties in a voice conversation although my end tends to be much louder.
Edit: Didnt realise how old this post was when I replied to it! Was using search to find an answer to another issue with microphones.

Call Recorder for Windows Mobile ???

Hi supporters, has anyone got Call Recorder or some similar application for Windows mobile, Or is it virtually impossible, b'cuz of the hardware incompatibility ?
There must have been discussion on this before as well, i am sure..

Resco AudioRecorder and Vito Audio Notes will do what you want to do, if your device supports the feature.
On my HTC Wizard the only way to record both sides of the conversation is to turn the speaker-phone on.
The Vito programmers have included a function in Audio Notes that turns on the speaker-phone automatically when you answer a call. I would assume that they did this because they found no other way around the problem on some devices.
Hope this helps.

OMG use search ffs theres a thread as long as your arm (perhaps even longer) where the slickest programmers in the know from XDA dev try everything (and i mean everything) to get this to work then outline the reasons why it wont.

hey buddy, thank u so much for lettin' me know about Vito Audio Notes, it works perfectly fine with my phone, though it needs the speakerphone to be on, while recording. But Something is always better than Nothing. I can compromise on that. And unlike Nokia, there are no more continuous annoyin' beeps at the background, while recording. Thanks again, mate.

Phone call recording will not work on Palm treo 700w and 750v
Phone call PVR
Phone call PVR is the personal voice recorder mobile application that provides real time phone call recording using Automatic or Manual capture modes. It allows you to record your mobile phone conversations, either by recording all phone calls automatically, or by recording the next call you make.
Note:- Due to hardware limitation, when using LivePVR for phone call recording, the call must be made in speaker mode on some Windows Mobile Pocket PC devices for LivePVR to record the voice at theother end. Otherwise, the voice of the party at the other end may not be clear in the recorded file. Please check the trial version before making a purchase if this is not acceptable to you.

mVoice disappoints too
I was hoping that mVoice will provide a solution but it disappointed me.
http://www.motionapps.com/product/mvoice/index.jsp
Here is an extract from mVoice manual:
"For Treo devices direct phone call recording is not available because of the hardware limitations of Treo devices. However phone calls can be recorded on Treo 750/700w having the following in mind:
− If you are using a headset you will be able to record only your voice - sound from the other side of a call cannot reach mVoice since Treo directs it to the ear speaker.
− If you are not using a headset, sound from both participants of the phone call will be recorded, but to make it usable you should turn on the "Speaker Phone" option after answering the call."
Record calls with Wizard without speaker phone
I can record calls getting both sides of the conversation without having to be in speaker phone mode. using my Wizard. Button 4, just hold it down and it will record as long as you hold the button down. I have that button (4) assigned to Record.

I use WM Sound Recorder to record my HTC Touch Pro phone conversation. It could record outgoing and incoming calls automatically. maybe you could have atry.
In short
Call recording and answering machine softwares are available , but needs speaker phone to be on.
This is hardware limitation with HTC but works with some other windows mobile devices like O2.
If works with HTC please let us all know.
Recording for mobile phone users
While this thread is old, a Google search for the topic finds it, so I'll comment. I've always found a voice recorder useful, for general non-phone, landline, and mobile phone use (particularly for recording otherwise undocumented customer (dis)services promises). A Nokia 9500 phone with Psiloc Extended Recorder software gave me most of what I wanted when out and about, but landline recording was problematical. Windows Mobile is more difficult.
But I've found a solution which is pretty much perfect for me. It sounds theoretically awful, like recording music with a microphone in front of the radio, but works extremely well, with both sides of the conversation recording at similar sound levels and without extraneous noise. After buying a "cheap" Chinese recorder which plugged into the landline connection, that ticked the right boxes and worked as specified, but didn't do the job well in practice, I got the right equipment: a tiny voice recorder (95x37x10mm, 47g) and a microphone that sits in your ear, underneath the phone speaker or a hands-free (but not in-ear) headset. Olympus does lots of suitable recorders; I found the WS-210S 2nd-hand & cheap. The unique bit is the Olympus telephone pickup TP-7. It will record with the pickup from any phone you use (eg payphone), and of course from its microphone. The lowest-quality audio (138 hours in 512k! - don't go overboard for massive memory) is 100% fine for understandable speech, voice-activated recording, and low microphone sensitivity for phone or close dictation, high for general conversation. Makes small (60kB/min) time-stamped WMA recordings with useless file names which I move and rename ASAP to a computer into which I have USB-plugged the recorder.
This is so much more versatile than mobile-only software, for about 37 GBP (but no need to buy new version when I change phone) and a small gadget and cable to carry, that I have happily given up the complications of software. I use the mobile phone (and other people's phones) without a headset, and the landline with a Plantronics over-ear headset.
HTH, pol08
PS problems with Chinese voice recorder: needed fiddly settings every time used, didn't start in right mode; voice-activated recording didn't work with compression, and uncompressed file was huge .WAV; compressed file format was non-standard .ACT - could play only with Windows software supplied, but no editing to trim silences; no timestamp.
Since there are recent comments on this thread....
Thus typing-in....ACR call recorded has worked for me without the speaker mode also..
It works smoothly...

Recording calls

Hello staff, I am using resco audio recorder/vito audio notes to record calls, but he writes only if the phone is in live voice, Otherwise only saves my voice.
Is there any way it direct record of internal speaker?
NO!

Vito Audio Notes "Touch", doesn't actually record the call from the phone, it can be set to auto activate the speaker phone which leads to a sccessfull recording, how ever if you turn off the speakerphone option, your back to the issue of only one sideof the call being recorded.
Sorry if this shoots down the "live voice or not" expectations.
guys, do read my related articles in the wiki instead of spreading false info...
Sorry, but I'm not spreading false info...
With Vito Audio Notes Touch, when I Listen to a recorded call, I can hear both the voices, even if do not use the function of auto activate the speaker phone
If you are sure that Vito can't record all the voices, I have to think that the volume of my Eten X800 is so loud that it can be recorded from my microphone.
In this case, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding

It's puirely dependent on the actual phone model, NOT the software. That is, something that works on, say, an s310 or an Advantage, won't work on the Kaiser, the Wizard or the Universal.

Recorder access to incoming voice

having a poor memory, I have become accustomed on my Treo to being able to record a caller if they are trying to give me info that I need later (with their knowledge). The AT&T tilt has blocked access to incoming voice for 3rd party recorders to use. Can anyone develop a fix?
there are some apps out there that do record incoming calls Vito audio notes is one of them also just google search and try out demo of different apps. many have said it can be done but i use vito audio notes all the time and it works great
I haven't kept up on the topic, but if I remember correctly there were a few threads about this (use the search) and I'm pretty sure the conclusion was that it was impossible to get access to the mic during a call.

One of you is not telling the truth.
Looking for hack
The AT&T tilt has blocked access to incoming voice for 3rd party recorders to use. I have tried all the recording software, none of them record the incoming voice. One of the s/w vendors even says that the hardware for incoming voice is not accessable for the TILT. I was hoping that someone might know how to hack the phone to make it work.
Any help would be great. And I have seen that alot of the users would be interested in this.

Yes, and it doesn't record the other party either.
I don't mean to get into the middle of this... but they should all work if you enable the speaker phone... maybe not crystal clear, but it should record...

Yes, this is the only known solution. It is not very the clearest, but get's the job done. This is my LARGEST complaint with the TILT coming from the old Sony T616 a long time ago.
I can record while using the headset and speakerphone (tested with VITO audio notes) but not with just the phone (it records my voice but not the caller).
I guess this is a hardware issue and is probably hard to fix. I guess you have to make a virtual "audio cable" where you can set the phone to use the speaker then route the signal back (somehow)???

Need some way to play audio file via a phone call

Im testing some VoIP software for cell phones for my work. I'm currently using a Nokia e71x and a At&T Kaiser/tilt/TyTn II running a nice little ROM I got here (can't remember the name) built on WM 6.5. Any way, in a desperate attempt to measure call quality I would like to call my voice mail and leave a message, then analyze it for pops, clicks that kind of thing. So in order to have a standardized file that I use each time I would like to be able to play an audio file on the phone, preferably the kaiser, and have it stream through the call. That way when I download my voicemail, in .wavs, I can use a program I got to see how the 2 files vary. I would hate to have to hold a voice recorder up to the phone each time.
Or you know of some other way of measuring call quality that would be good too.
thanks in advance,

Rooted Pixel 3 Users in the U.S.A., Please Answer a Question/Do a Test for me.

Hi,
I'm trying to figure what options there are for robust call recording apps on rooted Pixel 3's.
I'd like to know if a specific call recording application functions on Andriod Pie (or later) after rooting the device.
Here's the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appstar.callrecorder&hl=en_US
If those running a rooted OP6T would install the app and make a few calls I'd appreciate it.
Here's a number to Health and Human Services Office of Civil Right (all prerecorded menus; we won't bother anyone) to do test calls: (800) 368-1019
You may need to do some basic setup. Make sure call recording occurs automatically, or allow the overlay and manually engage the call recording.
For those willing to go to some effort, if at first the app doesn't work, the "Recording Settings" can be tweaked.
I don't know what the difference is between methods, other than that they change how the app tries to get voice data to record.
Can you hear both yourself and the the caller in the recording?
What recording settings were used?
What format did the recording save to (AAC/MP3/Wav?)
What is the sound quality of the recording?
Do any of the above change if you plug in a USB-C earbud/microphone or earbud/microphone attached via USB-C to 3.5mm/TRRS.
(note: bluetooth headsets have compatibility issues even on phones the app works; headset would need to be wired for this test, though info on Bluetooth would be nice if one is so inclined to provide it)
In the applications inbox for recordings, does the number or contact information show up, or is it listed only as "outgoing" or "incoming" call.
Alternatively, I'd be interested in any information/experiences rooted users may have with other call recording software. Such as Another Call Recorder - Unchained (https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/com.nll.acr). In particular, reliability and call recording quality (as good as 'the call').

I am not going to do all of that, but Boldbeast (paid) is probably your best bet for a nice high quality recording but it requires a bunch of tweaking on a pixel running android 10.
I had absolutely 0 issues using it with my P3 on android 9, but once upgraded to android 10 the only way to get it to work (even with a magisk module they recommended) means losing your "Hey Google" and "Now Playing" auto-detect music feature within the OS (both which I like). So its either stick with Android 9 and have 0 issues, or upgrade to Android 10 and deal with a bunch of BS trying to get the Boldbeast app recorder to work. Google in android 10 is trying to block anyone from using a call recorder all together, they just want it this way. So, I digress.
My previous phone running Android 8 (which I use as a backup) has the app you listed, "Automatic Call Recorder PRO" (paid version obviously) and functions like a dream but its not my daily driver.
If I ultimately had to record a phone call, I swap my sim into that phone and have a nice WAV/MP3 file saved in the cloud.
TLDR; I have no real answer for you

"With Google Voice, you press a button to start recording the call and then a voice comes on and announces that the call is being recorded. Everybody can hear the voice, so everyone knows that the call is being recorded."
The whole point to using a recorder app is so that someone doesn't know they are being recorded (this is legal is certain states, such as mine).
With an announcement "You are being recorded" kind of defeats the whole purpose. Unless maybe you are trying to keep questionable people honest over the phone with a .mp3 file/proof.
Maybe a Magisk/root hack would be able to turn off this message if google so-chooses to embed it that into the app.

That's my conundrum as well. Legal for me to record. Moreover it's better to have an app automatically record all calls, and be able to organize them into a database with call notes to keep track of who and when. Half of my want to find a way to continue using the existing call recording app, is to preserve the existing database.
