Some Gapps for Android 8.1 - BUT < 86MB?!? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi All,
I am trying to revive a nexus 7 2012 Grouper, I have managed to install lineage OS 15.1, and need to include Gapps, but, I cannot find a tiny GAPPS that will fit in the remaining space on my nexus 7 - which has a grand total of 86MB available and thats all.
Can anyone direct me to a way to get the absolute bare minimum for google play operation? OR, is there a way that I can extend the partition manually so that it has an extra 200MB so that OpenGapps Pico.
Thanks
J

I think u should put your questions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877166
This topic is only for LiquidSmooth questions
About your question: Install BMM and do partition stuffs then you will be able to install 4 more custom ROMs on your phone :fingers-crossed:
But first, read this great tutorial (including videos)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602229
System 6 Error when loading Nano/mini Gapps on LS v32 Atrix2
I got brave today, after much reading on the forums and watching Tech ArnY rooting videos and BMM 0.3.4 - Great information.
Here are the steps that I took today and their results:
1.) Rooted the Atrix 2 MB865 (AT&T) that has OTA ICS 4.0.4 ROM. Rooting was successful,
2.) Post install of MBB 0.3.4 and SuperUser, I kept the ICS 4.0.4 ROM on System 1 of the phone.
3.) Next, following Tech Arn Y's teaching, I was able to successfully flash LiquidSmooth (AcePort-LS-KK-Milestone-3.2-edison.zip) onto System 3 post wipe clean /dalvik, et cetera and successful install.
4.) So far, so good. Next I attempted to load GAPPS from this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942). Again, post check of MD5 check sum for both mini and nano GAPPS - no issues.
5.) While attempting to flash either the mini or nano GAPPS onto the Atrix 2 into System 3, it shows the following (E: Error in /ext/pa_gapps-modular-nano-4.4.4-20141121-signed.zip) (Status 6) Installation aborted.
6.) I can boot into either ROM without issues, however, even after a reflash of System 3 and again successful install of LS-KK-Miestone 3.2, GAPPS gives Status 6 install error.
Looking for clues in these forums, but I have not come across anything yet. Any/all help would be very much appreciated!
@Starrider17 I'm betting your gapps are too large for your partition size. Find the PA gapps thread and download the pico gapps then try again. If it fails again the PA gapps will generate a log and place it on your SD card to tell you why it failed.

Thanks 1BadWolf for the reply. At first, I thought that the size of the GAPPS was perhaps the issue, but it did not end up to be the case. After continuing my search in XDA Forums (a wealth of great information here without doubt!), I stumbled upon a video that explained Status 6 and Status 7 errors which are the most common when flashing GAPPS post ROM into any phone. In my case, here is the summary of the events:
1.) Flashed pa-gapps mini 4.4.4 (at 229 mbytes ) - Status 6 error.
2.) Wipe clean System 3 and then flashed pa-gapps-nano 4.4.4 (at 120 mbytes) 2x - Status 6 error.
3.) Being somewhat frustrated, and yet challenged, I took the clue for the status 6 error and by chance, I grabbed the Slim_mini-gapps 4.4.4 (at 65 mybtes) - Gapps successfully loaded!
4.) Wanting to confirm whether the issue lives in the size of the GAPPS - or - something in one of the scripts (Meta-INF > com > google > android > update-binary or update-script), I went ahead and did another Wipe-Clean and flashed Slim-normal-gapps 4.4.4 (at 183 mbytes) - Gapps successfully loaded
Summary: In business and in life, something a solution or a work-around is found and implemented without knowing the root cause!
Hopefully, the documenting of my journey here will be beneficial to someone down the road just as many of the posting in this forum have been (and continue to be) to me too!

Hey guys, thanks for trying out my Liquidsmooth port and offering your feedback. Unfortunately, I'm no longer able to work on the existing ports or even lollipop since development has completely died down.
This is because our current recovery, BMM isn't able to boot any lollipop rom and it's the only working one we have. All developers and supporters have moved on pretty much, so all you can do is just play around with what's there. I'm still kinda around with my A2, but don't have the time to do anything anymore since I've moved onto a newer device, work, life, etc.
If you want someone to blame for this, firstly blame Motorola for the locked bootloader and then blame Google for making 5.0 have enforced SELinux which is why we can't boot any LP rom. Aside from that, this device is amazing to have and I hope you all have a wonderful time with it.

Hello, does anyone have the weekly 7.4 (6152) download link. I've looked in the website, but can't find it. Thanks in advance.
Edit: Nvm, found a copy.
Probs installing slimkat Slim-crespo-4.4.4.build.9.0
Just FYI to anyone trying this - first a dirty flash, then a clean flash of Slim-crespo-4.4.4.build.9.0-WEEKLY-8321 with the Slim_normal_gapps.4.4.4.build.8.x-385. Both installed fine but wouldn't connect to google servers during initial setup - i'd connect to wifi or 3G data (which I verified was connected and working) and enter my google login and it would immediately say "Couldn't sign in". This was the same behavior for both the dirty and the clean flash. Then I clean flashed the Slim-crespo-4.4.4.build.8.20-WEEKLY-8172 zip with the same gapps as above, same problem. Then I flashed the full gapps, same problem. Finally, what worked, was I clean flashed the Slim-crespo-4.4.4.build.8.20-WEEKLY-8172 with the MINI gapps (Slim_mini_gapps.4.4.4.build.8.x-385) from the slimroms apge, and then that worked, and connected to google account login..... hope it helps someone else.
Hello guys, I'd like to install the latest stable version (Slimkat 4.4.2 build 5) on my gf's Nexus S. As this will be my first custom ROM install, I wonder which (minimal) slim_gapps build to use. I managed to get a copy of the 4.4.2 build 5. Or is it safe (or recommended) to use the 4.4.4 build 9?
Thanks in advance.
Hi!
Currently I have a CM11 M8 installed in my Google Nexus S.
I would like to know how much SlimKat is faster and lightweight than CM11?
Does it uses considerably less RAM memory?
Thanks!

Yes it's "faster" on benchmarks, but by only 100's of points.., and yes it is lightweight (nearly 100mb smaller).., and ram usage is very similar per how I used them..

Thanks Setting.Out!
I decided install SlimKat on my phone yesterday (Google Nexus S/crespo) and I could check this with my own eyes.
It is slightly faster.
It is lightweight in size.
And the TOTAL RAM available in Settings, that was 386MB in CM11, is 409MB in SlimKat.

[Q] Cyanogenmod for Nexus 5 Lollipop 5.1?

I have a LG Nexus 5 with Lollipop 5.1, unlocked and unrooted. Is there an easy way to install CyanogenMod to it? I'm new to tinkering with my phone so don't have much knowledge or experience with this.

Yes get the cm download app for phones. It finds the latest version and downloads it if you want. I normally have a stock rom and cm so I can switch

Sticky threads are available to learn how to flash a custom rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...urce-guides-info-threads-linked-read-t2784527
Go to CyanogenMod download center to download a nightly:
• hammerhead: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=hammerhead
OR
• hammerheadcaf: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=hammerheadcaf
Check daily until we see a build named cm-12.1xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Arm 64
@sudd1976 Check these out. I've been using them a while now and they're great and unique in some ways compared to others gapps .. https://nikgapps.com/
(Edit added)
See the FAQ section of his site for details about what makes them different and how they work. I love them. ?

Any rom without GApps? Degoogled?

For this S7 Exynos?
I've used a ton of these roms, but..Can any of these be completely de-googled?
lingeageos
find lingeageos from roms
We have LineageOS, Vanilla and microG
You could try e/OS but it ain't that good in my opinion
Every Lineage rom there is in this forum, comes with the phrase "Install gapps right after installing the rom itself don't try to boot to system before that if you want to use gapps (Or wipe data before installing them)" ...
So... Am I supposed to install GApps, and then microG on top of this "de-Googled" option?
Or can I install microG, from TWRP directly? And skip that step?

No.
Its not mandatory to install gapps in the first place.
Also you can directly install microG in place of gapps or just use the LineageOS microG version which you can find here
I was considering /e/ myself because it has an official ROM for this phone:
Info about Samsung Galaxy S7 - herolte
At least you can see what bugs have been reported with it there and decide for yourself if any of them look important for you or not. I don't know if any of the LineageOS community builds on the forums are likely to be better or worse in this regard? The other bit of info I can't find is how easy it is to go back to stock ROM if you have any issues with it. It appears to be based on Android 10 (Q), and I've heard it can be difficult to downgrade again to older Android versions?
For de-Googling it goes a bit deeper than just leaving out Google Play Services, but whether you care about lower level pings is up to you:
https://e.foundation/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/e-state-of-degooglisation.pdf
Calls to Google servers
Here is a decent overview:
And here is my initial failed attempt to de-Google the stock ROM. If anyone can help with troubleshooting that it would be much appreciated, or maybe I need to post it in a separate thread?
