[ROM] LineageOS 14.1 for Xperia X Compact Unoff.(Android 7.1.2, Patchlvl Jan 2018)

Hi folks,
some hardware crash later I found some time again to compile a plain version of LineageOS 14.1 for the Xperia X Compact (kugo). Android version of this build is 7.1.2 with patches and kernel from January 2018. No other software integrated, so you have to install Viper4Android etc. yourself for now to make the AudioFX work. Other issues still remain:
- Selfiecam still upside down (Android API issue?) Fix it using i.e. Simple Cam or similar
- FM Radio doesn't seem to work reliably (binary blob issue?)
I did an update installation with this one on a self-built LOS 14.1 from December so please feel free to do a full install :good:
Download links to the ROM and the corresponding md5sum file for validation when installing with TWRP (I will add some links to AndroidFileHost later):

This is great !! Although this rom/thread will probably not get the attention it deserves because you posted it in the Questions & Answers category instead of Roms & Kernels etc.. If you can't move it, maybe you can contact a moderator to get this thread moved to the correct category.
great job, just installed it on my wifes XC and it works like a charm, thanks a zillion !

Can't confirm these issues with my XC and service provider, everything seems to sound normal to me. Still annoying is that changing the volume during calls doesn't seem to work though

How to flash? When flash - bootloop with twrp, stay at lineage logo. What is md5 file for?
From the Moderator Oka1
To all,
I moved this thread to Roms and Kernels where it should be long
I hope all will appreciate the work that was done to make this Rom possible.
To the OP ... Please remember to post your source code in the Git or other approved repository

Flash with TWRP. The md5sum can be used for verification within TWRP if you check the corresponding box. Clear at least cache, dalvik before install though.

How long should one wait at Lineage logo splash screen? Not 15 minutes? Gets stuck at the logo, wiped everything, went back to stock then flashed twrp, wipe everything the flash lineage - stuck at logo

Doesnt work
Updater process ended with error 7
*nevermind it kicked in after several reboots.
People calling me report a strong echo, i.e. they hear their own voice played back at them. On my end, everything sounds fine, no echo. But it's kind of embarassing to put my callers through this. Won't be able to keep this ROM like this.
Hi bro, thanks for your work! And could you share the code on the github?
Because I tried to build lineage 15.1 on my kugo using the code shared by sony AOSP team, but I failed a lot of times.
I hope to see your code and maybe I can learn some something from it.
Thank you very much.

Do these ROMs have the slight but constant micro-stuttering that the stock ROM has?
I guess all these ROMs are loaded with Google's stuff?
With the exception of Play Store I'd like to be free of the Google fleet of useless apps.
It's great that you've been able to port these ROMs. I hope a lot of people use them. I just have different needs! Tx.

Yes, all of them. You can "freeze" or delete unwanted Google apps. Do it manually or try to find scripts which can do this automatically.
Hi, I was thinking to buy this tablet.
Can these ROMs fix the issue of too high brightness even at the lowest level?
If not can you recommend a free application to solve the problem?
Better this or teclast m89 pro? Thanks.

To solved this brightness issue I use the sFilter app or any other blue light filter app.
But to tell the truth, I wouldn't recommend to buy any Teclast tablet. I have a problem where he doesn't accept the installation of Instagram or Facebook app. I saw that many people have the same problem.
Anyone else with this problem or know how to solve?

I added solution, check it and let me know if it works for u
It's possible to change brightness limits manually by editing firmware files, If there's a big problem for u and other users I can change its' range sometime. Just let me know what firmware u are using.
Hello dev!
Are you still working on this device firmware? I bought it this month and not even on official site could find updates for, so I don't know if there is any firmware that I should update before using these that you made...
I'm using Pixel Experience and found it great. But I had problems with the initial setup, which always had trouble trying to recover the configuration of another device. When I checked to set up as a new device it work fine.
I could not open Magisk too, but i wanted to disable it and remove, but always shows error when trying. I'll try MIUI in sequence to see if I can.
Another question: The modified Stock has gapps included? (and can I remove root?)
Thank you so much for your work, I was happy to know that have other firmware for this tablet.
PS.: sorry for the "google translator english", my english is poor. lol

I used the modified rom too and liked a lot, but I couldn't install some apps through the playstore and had problems to remove root (Magisk). So I installed ASUS ROM and it is very stable and everything is working great. I'll leave it and see what happens!
Thanks!

Hello!
1) There is no more firmwares to port for our device. Also I don't know much about modding firmwares, so Pixel was my first successful experiment.
2) Latest official firmware for our device is TOS v2.1 which can be found in appropriative thread here. Seems no more updates will be released for our device.
3) Restoring function is bad idea esp on custom ROM. You should always make clean installation.
4) Custom ROMs can only boot with root access (e.g. Magisk). You cant uninstall it. In other case your device wont boot (Android 7.0 classical issue). P.S Magisk is not like "classic" root, so you can "hide" it for apps that don't work on rooted device.
5) Of course stock ROM includes Gapps. All made changes are listed in topic. Root can'f be removed on any custom ROM (see p.4).

[CHAT] HD10 (2017) - custom ROM brainstorming:

With HD10 (2017) unlock/TWRP available - link (thanks to @k4y0z!!!), the next natural question is a custom ROM. The subject may turn out to be slightly trickier than what appears at first sight.
Let's have a discussion thread to brainstorm on this and not wonder off-topic in other places.
I had seen @DragonFire1024 & @Rortiz2 tried to work on that, so feel free to chime in as necessary.
What we have:
HD10 (2017) chipset - MT8173 (2+2 cores), there is an beefier brother to it, MT8176 (2+4 cores). For most practical purposes both chipsets seem almost identical software-wise.
MT8173 was introduced in March 2015 (time of Lollipop domination - Android 5). MT8176 was introduced in October 2016 (getting toward Nougat - Android 7).
The efforts up to date on a custom ROM for this chipset appear to be by @Goayandi, who is still active on XDA, so his work could be used a starting point. I believe @Goayandi was working on Android 7 (Nougat). Here are some of the original links:
XDA : Mediatek MT8173 & MT8176 development
Reddit: Mediatek MT8173 & MT8176 development
Stuff from Amazon for MT8173 (both HD10 2017 and FireTV2) is Lollipop-vintage (Android 5), other devices with these chipsets seem to have reached Nougat (Android 7). It does not appear that there is any known MT8173/MT8176 device with Android 8, or 9 (or is there?). It seems that @diplomatic has an Asus like this with Nougat.
At the moment, it feels a a Nougat custom ROM might be the ceiling for the device, given the difficulties of finding proprietary pieces for MTK chipsets to get Android 8 or 9 going. Now, even Android 7 is still a bit of a challenge, given limited prior success.
More thoughts/ideas? Feel free to fill this thread with random thoughts as much as you want - that's what it's for!!!
I'm really looking forward to an AOSP experience on this tablet, to be honest. Can't wait to see what they come up with!

As long as I can set up everything properly I'm ready to go. I've managed to get past script issues I think. I can get it to flash and it boots to the orange fire logo and sits for eternity. This was the same result pre and post TWRP. So at this point it's probably the installation and improper setup of the tree and files. If someone can point me to a guide or give me instructions on how to add support to my AOSP working directory, that would be great. This bit of the leg work is hard as there really aren't any guides that are detailed enough or that work anymore.
Secondly, I think if we are going to use a kernel, we either use the 7.0 source, or just use the kit I have to build our own. Amazon cherry picked the crap out of the kernel practically to the bare bones, so I think expanding from it is just a waste of time, especially since we have the kit that does a lot of the work for us, including providing signatures and the tools to sign etc.

I wouldn't mind even if the best ROM available is a 6.0 Marshmallow one. Anything that gives AOSP on a stable base for the Fire HD10 is going to be awesome.

So did you end up successfully unbricking your device?
I did share working amazon kernel sources in the HD-10 Unlock thread.
They worked well in my tree to compile TWRP.

Sorry for being out of the loop - were those kernel sources for Lollipop? Or does it even matter at all - meaning they would be good to go with newer Android versions as well.

They will likely need some patches to work with newer versions, but it's a good start I'd say.
It's the most recent version amazon has published.

I am working on it as we speak. I downloaded the zip from the second post in this thread, 1.1. extracted and ran sudo ./bootrom-step.sh. said it can't find build/payload directory it doesn't exist. So I assume I use that folder from the other unbricking thread copy it to yours? Assuming its a yes to that question, I keep getting the serial port errors. I also had to delete a setting in udev (this was my own addition to it) and rebooted PC. Now I am having a cigarette. When I do it again, if I still get serial port errors, time to try each of the 8 or 10 other ports on the PC.

Hi bibikalka,
Very good idea this thread.
What you can do, is to port a port a ROM of another MT8173 tablet to the FIRE HD10 2017.
This works and I have tested it on my BQ Aquaris M8 (MT8163) it has a similar MTK so I guess it will work. I have ported for example a ROM of an asus zenpad that uses MT8163 and at least the rom boots.
BTW: Oreo on MT8176: https://www.xda-developers.com/alldocube-x-10-5-inch-android-8-1-oreo/

But these aren't amazon sources are they?
They probably are missing some drivers then.
But if they are for mt8173 they could be used as a source to patch the amazon-sources.

Excellent find! Here is a review link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ge...ldocube-x-review-media-playback-king-t3902539
Alldocube X kind of has 2x of everything compared to HD10 2017, but at 2x price I wonder how fast Oreo would be on HD10 and if 2Gb of RAM would cut it. But this is definitely the device to copy if one wants latest and greatest!
And here is a thread with misc download links for ROMs:

I will try to port lineage 15.1 but the safest thing is that it will not work.
I have also ported an AOSP Rom for anyone who wants to try it. Tomorrow I will give more info.

Alright, we have both an eager developer, and a tester!!! Just remember, avoid bricking !
Very recently (March 2019) @wangyiling seems to have put together a LineageOS 15.1 ROM for MT8173/8176 - link, so hopefully we can re-purpose that for HD10. It's great to have an active developer elsewhere looking at the same thing!
It feels that if there is at least something that boots the kernel, it'd be a huge step forward.

If my testing on ROMs caused my brick, we have to be careful. I've been testing and flashing test ROMs for months now and never bricked like this. I think I may know what happened and if I'm right, I'm not sure what effect if any this will have on flashing a rom. According to the fstab.mt8173 file in the root directory, the partitions we flash for a rom, aren't part of the EMMC: data, system, cache are all ext4. All other partitions are however EMMC. So if I recall correctly, I did list the system as EMMC in the build script, but did intend to remove it. I made a last minute adjustment to the script and didn't change that part though.

thanks guys
You're installing the wrong ones.
The first one is for Oreo, not Pie.
The second one is ARM64 and not ARM
Go here: https://opengapps.org/
You want ARM , 9.0 and Pico

Hi. Could someone tell me what is the fastest Custom Rom that generates over 60k on antutu? I don't mind errors like Camera etc. Please give me a link. Greetings

Why not try it yourself and find out which one suit you better? Or at least read the thread for the feedback from another users
I read, I read. I need it to go as fast as possible in games and keep it stiff at 120Hz like a KOSP but it has google and I wanted a vanilla version. They end up remotely and I have to sit in front of the books and I don't have time to install various mods so I created this topic. If they extended remote lessons, I could search for Custom Roms

What? Why are you being rude to me. I'm just answering his question. It's not me who ask first, I just try to give suggestions to him
Hi. I have already reinstalled over 8 roms but there is nowhere the same function as KOSP. My point is that, for example, when I watch the yt vanced 4K movie, it drops to screen 60fps and on kosp you can block it so that it works all the time at 120 and this is mega great, only that this system has disadvantages that I find it hard to accept (blockage of installing modded applications, large amount of bootloop after installing mods via magisk (os lineage does not exist)). That is why I have a warm request. To find a system that:
1. It will block rigidly 120hz on yt how it has KOSP
2. Lack of google services (KOSP has them and I really don't want them).

It's okay man
And someone knows how to find the module for the magisk module that blocks the screen refreshing rigidly (120hz). I tried the Magisk Hide method with Poco X3 NFC but it also doesn't work
I found another ROM this ROM is a beast on PUBG KOMODO OS this thing is on another level
Android 12 everything works and hide magisk safety net works! Perfection
Thank you for your help. I coped with KOSP but a lot of things like Driver Adreno Magisk, DarkGpuRendering adreno650 port won't work. The main launcher goes crazy as it installs this add-on. Found 144hz options but likes bugs. The author of this mod, Dark ... explained what the problem is. What does it depend on that KOSP wogule does not want to cooperate with these mods? PS I dug this zip file DARKGPURENDERING v3.5 but I didn't know the file with refresh rate. Where could it be?

For me the addon's I tried on kosp ROM didn't work and they scored low benchmarks and awful gaming...the only thing i got from them is more heat
Derpfest is the fastest, but battery backup not so good. i mean of course if you need performance you have to let battery do his job. you will notice that LineageOS has best battery because its not only focused on performance. but focused on all to maintain the stability
