Hey there,
to keep it short, I'd possibly need the camera apk from a stock ROM (not sure I'm able to extract it, but pointers would be fine, too).
As far as I was aware, I always took the Google app as universal, providing Pixel exclusive features to a Pixel phone.
Having searched a bit, a lot of websites handle naming these apps quite loosely, resulting in conflicting results. So conflicting even, you wouldn't know whether or not there is a distinct camera on Pixels. (Even more so, that you would question the necessity of ports.)
Anyway, as I'm no longer using stock (possibly GrapheneOS with GXP enabled), I would need the apk, if it isn't just the downloadable Google Camera Google you can get on any phone (which I could get via Aurora Store).
I'd appreciate the help.
Try some GCam port: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/

Would there be any need? I guess for additional settings, right?
I rather take the official Pixel cam, as it would be Google updating it and it should be the baseline for mods, shouldn't it?
And while I appreciate the modders' work, I'd like to stick with the unmodded one for now.
The stock Pixel cam IS a different app than the "Google Camera" on the Play Store, isn't it?
That is what I don't know for certain. Searching the internet yields no further clarification, as it's flooded with tutorials for ports and no sign of anyone actually distinguishing between the two, if even applicable.
IF it is a different app, I'll probably look into extracting it from OTAs, as I have no idea where to look otherwise.
Yeah, modded Gcam port is based on Google Camera by Google.
Stock "Pixel cam" is Google Camera.
Differences:
manual updates
slightly slower updates than official one (by Google)
additional settings

]Okay, now I understand this phone simply have this problem where the camera constantly tries to refocus during video recording and it affect all OnePlus, this is my third OnePlus.
For some reason the Cyanogen Rom and roms based on it lack some drivers that allows continuous autofocusing to work correctly while video recording. Depends on what camera apps you use, the autofocusing will either not work, or it will continuously tries to re-focus nonstop. ColorOS however does have this function working correctly.
Solution: Use ColorOS + CameraNext or Google Camera.
If it matters that much to you then find the bug report on Jira and up vote it, that's the only real effective way to have an impact. You're not likely to find a fix at the ROM level.

Thanks for posting a solution. This problem is driving me crazy enough to sell my phone since I often need to use it to take short videos at work, and it is so embarrassing to have to show the videos to others that I have taken to also carrying around a small point-and-shoot, and this is not acceptable. I have tried many roms and many camera apps, but all of them have the video refocus issue.
However, I don't see Color OS in XDA. Is there a rom thread for it? I will try anything to salvage this phone since I love it except for this problem.

This also appears to be a fix
I flashed the v20 mod for the app at http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/themes-apps/app-cameranext-modded-t2999275 and it does not continually autofocus. I saw no need to flash the "click fix" since it is does not click when using it. I am on KK Slim.

The official ColorOS firmware for some reason I could not get to boot on my phone, but you have to use the official version if you want working OTA updates. And it lack Gapps so you have to manually install it.
You could use other custom version like this one which is what I'm using, it's flashable using TWRP. http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/rom-4-4-2-coloros-2-0-36beta-t2955853
The official OppoCamera.apk still do not record with continuous focusing, but the CameraNext.apk and Google Camera does.
Hello, anyone installed modded Google camera at XZ Premium?
It doesn't work, it requires Camera2 API (I think full mode) which is not supported by the XZp.
I read somewhere that SONY uses a modified version of the API which is why it causes the Google Camera app to crash.
https://source.android.com/devices/camera/versioning
This explains everything. But I am not quite sure which one Sony actually using. AFAIK it's legacy.
Edit: Yes it is Legacy.

I read that we can custom enable camera2api, but from recovery mode, anyone tried it?
Thing is there's an issue with the camera with unlocked bootloader. They're working on a DRM fix for unlocked bootloader.
But what's this custom enable cameraAPI2? cause I really wanna enable that so we get full control over. But I highly doubt we will be able to.

I tryed to install this Google camera apk http://www.androidapksfree.com/apk/google-camera-latest-apk-download/
It works but sux a lot
The clearest sample photo quality is from sony app, the other is from Google camera apk

Yes, it instantly crashes.
So if you have phone rooted and u want to install camera 2 api with some guides about it, on the xzp will not work properly? For works it must have a modded camera 2 api from xda develpers?
Edit: and if we install magisk and the relative camera 2 api module?

If I'm wrong, sorry for all I'm only trying to be helpful
The camera2 api is enabled by default (it was on my device) on XZP, but they limited the functionality for 3rd-party apps. RAW is not supported and the resolution is limited @ 8,3MP (back) and @ 13MP (front). I didn't found a way to brake the limits. I have no idea if it's possible.
Not all 3rd party apps are limited. FV-5 (force legacy drivers), open camera, a better camera, Camera ZOOM FX
Google open sources deeplap v3 technology
Hey guys Google open sources deeplap v3 in github
Can anyone use this repository and create a camera mod for Xperia XZ Premium if possible??.
Waiting for developer to respond,
Thanks in advance
Hi KGV! you made my Day!
The devs here on Sony's XDA either are paid by Sony, either Sony's employees, either lazy, either they have bought Samsung phones, either Sony really encrypted their software.
Don't expect something like this.
Hat down for Storm, Turbo and Munjeni.

Dude but what can we do for portrait mode??
It would be awesome if it works
(Don't say me to edit pics in snapseed nor picsart for portrait)
I am not a big fan of portrait mode, but I really think Sony's Bionz camera software is better than Google HDR + at least for our sensor.
Instead of running for fantasies, maybe you try to learn how our Bionz works. You wont be dissapointed.
Now a good thing will be to port XZ2 camera to our XZP.

Which one are you using i tried different cameras and still not working
Hi fellas,
I recently bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S, and aside from the fact that it's still running Android 10 over MIUI 12.0.3.0 (Global / EU since I'm in France) when everybody else and their cousin seems to have switched to Android 11 already, everything's peachy with the phone.
My question is borne more out of curiosity than necessity: How better would my photos be if I installed Gcam (Google Camera), rather than keep on using OpenCamera or the Xiaomi app the phone ships with? Would I really see an improvement in the way the Gcam software treats images?
If you think I'd get to gain from the install, then a second question comes to mind: How to install the config file that comes with most of the builds I've found here and there? Last time I installed Gcam on the phone, the config file came separately, and however hard I tried to follow instructions, I never managed to load the config file, so I ditched the app altogether. Patient, I am not for that kind of thing, I'll confess.
So, what gives?

gcam use some algorithm to enhance photos to high dynamic range (HDR). you may get better image if you use proper gcam made for your phone.
secondly, config file can be loaded in settings of most gcam. you can use youtube or any tutorial to see how to load configs.
Thanks for your reply, Bhanu. It was my understanding that what Gcam does, mostly, is to apply some sort of software "magic" to what the sensors record, and in this respect, the 48MP main sensor on the Note 9S isn't too shabby, so I'd really like to give it a try, but as I said in my OP, every time I did what was advised in the tutorials I read, i.e. press somewhere in the camera interface (left of the capture button), I always got the same "no config file to load" message, although I had a config file waiting to be installed, one that I had downloaded along with the Gcam .apk file, so I was wondering if there were APKs that already contained said config file, and if so, where can I find them?
For example, this article points at two different builds based on Gcam 8, but it doesn't mention where to find the config file that goes with either one of them.
hi, i like the way you replied,
about gcam i have found v7.4 its recommended to use v7 because they are relatively stable.

just open app and go to settings and developer settings and disable use google photo to use it.
or simply install google photos to make this version work.
I have one of these coming in the mail, I bought it used. I bought it only because it's the smallest modern device with lots of modding support, and I already downloaded the necessary tools to try out a bunch of roms. I am mostly interested in CalyxOS and Lineage, but I was wondering, is there some degoogled stock rom, or something else based on the stock Pixel rom with Google removed? Also what are some other custom roms without Google that I can try out? I'm mostly interested in something that is fast and customizable, I don't like Google but I also don't need something as hardened as GrapheneOS.
AFAIK there is no de-googled stock or even stock-ish ROM. The recent Google devices are extremely hard to de-google. Google integration goes into the software for the radios.
You can look at this thread on the e/os support forums for info on the Google Fi app still being in custom ROMs. (I'm tnadovada)
I tried Calyx and couldn't stand it. I don't need a ROM constantly nagging me about making plain phone calls being "insecure". I'm not going to pester my friends to use Signal.
You can try e/os it's based on Lineage, but uses the bliss launcher, which is very different from stock Android. You could put Trebuchet on top of e/os for a more stock-like experience.
The dev for SuperiorOS had compiled a version without gapps if I remember and was looking for someone to test it. You might get in touch with him.
i was using grapheneos on my pixel 3a, its good but i missed googles services so i went back to lineage with a few google services i use.
Its the camera i need most, you can use this to bypass (https://github.com/lukaspieper/Gcam-Services-Provider/) but i end up needing Lineage
Thank you for the replies. Eventually something happened with the shipping and I'm still waiting on my delicious 4A. I'll look into the roms you recommended and report back if needed. Thanks again.
Hi Guys,
Hope you all doing well.
So, I purchased an unlocked Pixel 7 Pro and got it delivered yesterday.
All seems good except camera which is very, very disappointing so far (obviously, the phone has the latest updates)
For example, no matter what picture I take in portrait mode, it takes 1-1.5 minutes (!!) to process it to add the blur which is insane as my 2 years old Notes 10 Ultra processes blur in 1-2 seconds. How is this even possible?
Do you guys have the same issue with portrait mode? I want to make sure its not my phone.
Also, I was reading that it is possible to add a blur to unprocessed picture from Google Photos but that option is simply missing from the menu no matter what picture I open.
For instance, Samsung Gallery app does add blur to all these unprocessed pictures so its not the picture itself. Google Photos simply doesn't have that option, its missing.
Google Photos also doesn't have any option to unblur a picture as its also missing. The was apparently one of the "perks" of Pixel 7 Pro but that option is not even there.
Do you guys also experience all this?
If the portrait mode processing is faster for you, can any of you kindly extract your camera and google photo apk and post it here? I will install these instead. Thanks a lot!
Try a factory reset. mine takes 4 seconds tops
Didn't help.
I didn't mention that I am using GrapheneOS.
Tried to flash stock Google image - and Portrait mode processing worked as expected.
I pulled out the original Photo and Google Camera apks from stock Google image, then installed Graphene again and installed these - same results.
It seems there are some additional libraries in stock image that are responsible for processing and they need to be installed in Graphene to make it work as expected? I couldn't identify any though - there was one called Pixel Camera Services that I also installed but still no joy.

GrapheneOS is an OS not a mod, and Google Camera works on it for a few years now - it only requires GSF to run. There are many people on XDA who are using GrapheneOS on Pixel phones so its not a unique thing. I was hoping someone who is on it can advise if they experience the same issues.

Honestly, this topic is not about comparing phones - I own both and providing my feedback. Even with stock ROM, Pixel cannot match the capabilities of 2 years old Notes 20 Ultra - for example, Note 20 Ultra has real-time video background blur with different effects whilst Pixel's Cinematic mode doesn't offer many background effects and works much worse. Note 20 Ultra's portrait mode has much more different real-time effects, etc. But as I said this topic is not about comparing but trying to resolve a problem, so its pointless to write comments like this.
I took this one of my daughter just to see and mine did not have that problem. It processed quick quickly

It's pointless to write something is broken, and then ask people if theirs is broken too, while ignoring completely the fact that you're on a CUSTOM ROM while people are clearly saying "It's working" fine, yes, on stock ROM.
I'm not trying to argue now, but it's important to mention such stuff so people can actually "help" in a more "accurate" way instead of just writing "it works fine for me", while they're not using the same ROM as you do.
Peace

The issue you're having is not there in the stock ROM, something you didn't mention in your thread.
But I'll walk away because you're clearly ignoring the fact that you didn't mention here a KEY factor, because it's definitely the issue of your CUSTOM ROM and not stock ROM. So, don't get angry when you get responses like this.
