Or at least performance not far from google stock camera.

99% of the ROMs include the stock google camera. There is no difference in how the camera performs on the custom ROM, it relies on the same libs and uses the stock APK from the playstore dedicated to Pixel phones.

This.
Outside of Pixel's, I'm not too familiar if it's the same concept, but back then when this was a thing, a lot of progress was made and this is no longer a thing.
Just use Google's camera instead of a different app if you want the best photos.

Does LOS 20 includes stock google camera?

Don't think so since they built their own, but you can download it from the Play Store.

[Q] is it possible to get the htc camera app?

I noticed that the stock ROM contains the ability to take HDR images but I haven't found a stock ROM that has that same feature. Does anyone know if such an app exists? Thanks
All of the Sense ROMs have the same function...

So lemme get this clear coz I was wondering about this. If I get a non-sense ROM I can get back the camera nicely installed and potentially any other Sense apps I like?

no
No. Sense ROMs are Sense ROMs. Like the name says. If you get a non-sense ROM, like AOKP or CM, you don't get any Sense apps.

To clarify the above.. The Sense apps don't work without all the behind-the-scenes stuff Sense roms have, including Rosie.
The Sense-based MIUI is a pretty good compromise, in my opinion. Been using it for a bit.. much more stable than the AOSP MIUI

Does it in anyway reduce the quality of the camera to not use a sense-app or will hdr app provide similar quality?

Forgot to mention that the Sense-based MIUI uses the Sense camera with all functions working.
As for other apps.. I've tried four or five different HDR apps and have had the best results with Pro HDR out of the ones I've tried. The Sense app is a close second.. partly because it allows widescreen HDR pics.
And as for quality..I myself haven't noticed much difference in quality with other apps, since it's basically still using the same hardware... I use Camera360 a lot and am not disappointed. I think the advantage of the Sense app is the high burst rate you can get out of it. And the panorama mode is better than almost every other pano app I've tried.. except one (but only because that one app allows 360 degree panoramic)

[Q] Best Camera on Non-TW

Which camera/camcorder works the best on the Non-TW ROMs? That's one thing I've liked about ROMs based off stock, is that the camera/camcorder always seems to be better on all phones.

What do you mean by "best". If the camera works, it works the same. The only different is in some custom rom, you can do a bit more like disabled the camera sound etc.

Maybe I'm taking pictures wrong but a TW ROM picture look better than a AOSP ROM picture to me. So I was wondering if there is a difference between the AOSP ROMs.
When I'm on an AOSP ROM, I usually use Camera Zoom FX. Got it for like 10 cents back when Google was doing a promo. Good go to cam.

Give this one a spin and report back. It's a apk (no need to flash). It's an S4 for aosp rom. For TW rom just install straight. For AOSP rom, recommend to uninstall your camera first then do the install

[Q] Why no HDR on camera!?

On the stock Motorola camera app, we have the option to take HDR pics. However, when I installed the newer google camera app the HDR option is gone. Anyone know why? Is it possible to get it back?
It's only available for certain phones and the xt926 isn't one of them.

Isn't it strange that it was available, but then removed? I wonder what the purpose was.

It never was available in the Google camera that I know of for this phone. That's one of the reasons I never made it my daily camera and continued to use the stock camera.
It's still there in the stock camera from Motorola.

How do you install the "stock Motorola camera" in CM? Is there an APK or flashable zip? I know there is the moto camera on the playstore, but I think it shows our HDs as "incompatible"..

I haven't tried it yet, but it may be possible to side load it from our Stock rom. Just have to find the app file with root explorer, save it to SD, and then try and drag it into the app folder.

You can't right now AFAIK. It requires too many non-AOSP components (in other words, Motorola components like gallery and others). I supposed you could copy the stock APKs out of a stock image flashed on your phone for both the camera and gallery APKs and then in CM, copy these to the /system/app directory, reboot and see what happens. Worse that will happen is they won't work. But, I'm pretty sure they are compiled against other "libraries" that are not in the AOSP image which is what CM11 is compiled off of.

Now you have me confused - didn't you say you utilize stock motorola as your daily camera? How do you do that when running CM11 then?
Don't tell me you are flashing back and forth when you want to take a picture or did I just mix things up here?
I found this thread in the meantime - will try once I get home from work:

Sorry about that. That was when I wasn't on CM11 but on stock. Now that I'm on CM11, I've been searching around for HD cameras from the Play store. One that I'm currently looking at is called "A Better Camera" which has HD mode built in. It's free and if you want other add ons, you can purchase them piece by piece (more controls for HDR colors, high resolution panorama - you already get panaroma mode but not in HDR, group shots, moving objects, etc). For $6.99, you can unlock all those premium features forever or purchase the ones you want for $2.99 a piece if you only a want one or two of them.
So far, seems to be a pretty good camera and just out of the box for free, it offers a whole lot of options that most other cameras would require you to purchase.
Once really nice feature I like about this camera is it does allow you to specify to save your photos to your external SD card and it works under CM11.
Speaking of cameras, I've noticed that the quality of the images I take using cm11 are very noticeably inferior to the stock kit kat images. Is that an OS issue, or the camera app that's installed? I'm using the stock Google camera.

I have no proof for it and my stock days are already a year back, but I swear that any custom rom introduces a "purple haze" to the center of my lense and I also subjectively consider the stock camera quality better.. now for a snap here and there it is ok and never bothered me enough to go back to stock, but I think it is noticeable. I think one chap also posted factual comparison between stock and AOSP.
Probably Motorola knows better how to tweak their camera or whatever.. I don't know.

Photo comparisation -> Locked Booatloader vs AOSP with DRM fix

Are there any picture comparations about the picture quality loss?
Would really like to see that, too
There is no such a thing like DRM fix for AOSP. AOSP is AOSP. Sony stock ROM's containing DRM but not AOSP. Talking about picture quality. I was installed Goggle camera port on my XZ and it was much more better than Sony stock camera.

So we only need the DRM fix if we use the Stockfirmware?
If I compile the Xperia aosp and install it, my camera will shot pictures instead of green walls?

Can you give link google camera port for me bro? I use F8332, unlock bootloader, flash rom AOSP 8.1 of rudy, install google camera port but It's not better than stock camera. Not only that, front camera so blurry and auto focus so hardly ((( thanks for your help
I was using carbon rom, now omnirom. Both based on aosp 8.1. Rudys rom is outdated i guess. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/ try one of these ports in this link. Some may not work same may work partialy. There is no official port for XZ sadly The picture quality is way better than stock fw camera.

Dose Omnirom support F8332? I see the title is XZ/KAGURA/F8331 OmniROM BUILDS When I use AOSP rom of Rudy, sometimes my device can't charge. Led still bright, my adapter and cable don't break.
I have no idea. I think it needs only patch for dual sim but it should work. I have some issues with charging too, its slower thqn stock or existenz. I think there is workaround for this, actualy never tried to solve this problem

Question Stock camera on custom rom

I've been planning on installing custom Rom like Pixel Experience on my A52 4G, but the last thing holding me back is Super Steady video recording mode in the stock Samsung camera app. Is there a way to install the stock Samsung camera app on custom roms?
No, this is and will not be possible. However, the preinstalled Camera app on PE does a good job too. Alternatively, there is GCam.
I know, I've tried GCam from BSG, and it really excels at photos and videos, I would even say, that in most scenarios the results are better than on the stock camera but still the only way to record steady videos on this phone is Super Steady, which is unfortunate
