Photo comparisation -> Locked Booatloader vs AOSP with DRM fix - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

Are there any picture comparations about the picture quality loss?

Would really like to see that, too

There is no such a thing like DRM fix for AOSP. AOSP is AOSP. Sony stock ROM's containing DRM but not AOSP. Talking about picture quality. I was installed Goggle camera port on my XZ and it was much more better than Sony stock camera.

So we only need the DRM fix if we use the Stockfirmware?
If I compile the Xperia aosp and install it, my camera will shot pictures instead of green walls?

Can you give link google camera port for me bro? I use F8332, unlock bootloader, flash rom AOSP 8.1 of rudy, install google camera port but It's not better than stock camera. Not only that, front camera so blurry and auto focus so hardly ((( thanks for your help

I was using carbon rom, now omnirom. Both based on aosp 8.1. Rudys rom is outdated i guess. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/ try one of these ports in this link. Some may not work same may work partialy. There is no official port for XZ sadly The picture quality is way better than stock fw camera.

Dose Omnirom support F8332? I see the title is XZ/KAGURA/F8331 OmniROM BUILDS When I use AOSP rom of Rudy, sometimes my device can't charge. Led still bright, my adapter and cable don't break.

I have no idea. I think it needs only patch for dual sim but it should work. I have some issues with charging too, its slower thqn stock or existenz. I think there is workaround for this, actualy never tried to solve this problem

[Q] Best Camera on Non-TW

Which camera/camcorder works the best on the Non-TW ROMs? That's one thing I've liked about ROMs based off stock, is that the camera/camcorder always seems to be better on all phones.

What do you mean by "best". If the camera works, it works the same. The only different is in some custom rom, you can do a bit more like disabled the camera sound etc.

Maybe I'm taking pictures wrong but a TW ROM picture look better than a AOSP ROM picture to me. So I was wondering if there is a difference between the AOSP ROMs.
When I'm on an AOSP ROM, I usually use Camera Zoom FX. Got it for like 10 cents back when Google was doing a promo. Good go to cam.

Give this one a spin and report back. It's a apk (no need to flash). It's an S4 for aosp rom. For TW rom just install straight. For AOSP rom, recommend to uninstall your camera first then do the install

as the title says, i dont want to revert back to stock firmware, but would like to make use of the original camera app, since every other one doesnt really utilize the available hardware to its full potential...

im not quite sure what you mean, but the hwcamera from either honor8 or p9 are not working on a CM ROM. it needs libs to actually be shown as an installed app.
i tried every proper camera app: cameringo+, retrica, fv5, camera-fx, open camera
and even silly ones: 360, candy camera
all of the above either dont run at all, produce sub-par results since they dont address the camera api/kernel properly, and none can capture video properly at min 30fps.
as long as this very decent camera in this phones pricerange isnt properly used in custom ROMS, im not even bothering with any builds. its just a waste of time, when the core selling point for this phone isnt working properly.
id love to keep using resurrectionremix, since i love that ROM, but as mentioned above - waste

This is something you deal with when you CM/aosp based roms. People think they can have their cake and eat it to. This is not the case. CM has had bad camera code for years and they really can't do anything about it without recording their libs and system from the ground up.

LineageOS Development for OnePlus SDM845 devices.

So randomly, I'm sitting here enjoying a nice Belgian Ale and the thought popped into my head, "Check the LineageOS Gerrit site!"
I did. And I got an exciting surprise!

Interesting times ahead. Can't wait for LineageOS and other AOSP ROMs.
Today i'll try to build to have some unofficial taste if possible
EDIT: Now there's a LineageOS/android_device_oneplus_enchilada repository, but it's empty. I'll check and as soon there's stuff, i'll start building

Hi guys, im had xperia z5 and installing lineageOS camera quality always went to very very poor quality. Is it on OP6 would be the same?

don't you always lose image quality when switching from stock to custom rom, no matter if it's a Sony, Samsung or OnePlus?
many OnePlus users still return to stock rom because of the worse image quality on custom roms.
I've never heard anything different than that.
correct me if I'm wrong.
It's for almost every brand the same: AOSP never came completely up to stock, because of the framework and optimization from the original builders: The OEM. But since we have many good devs around, porting the Google Camera to fit for our device, at least non-pro shots will be equal, if not better than stock. You can come close with several other apps too:
• Open Camera
• Snap Camera HDR Pro (Smells a bit abandoned, to be honest.)
• A Better Camera Unlocked (Also smells abandoned, but works fine. At least for now.)
• Footej Camera Pro
• Hedge Cam 2 (With the correct settings, you will get par to better photos than with stock. Based on Open Camera.)
For normal, I'd list Manual Camera and Camera FV-5 too, but both are too old and are for sure completely abandoned.

Micky,
based on solely the image quality - would you prefer a custom rom on the op5/5t or the stock rom? and even though you probably don't own a crystal glass ball, what's your stand on this when it comes to the op6?
thx!
I was and I ever will be a user of CyanogenMod / LinageOS. At least, you should switch one time back, because of this:
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/open-ears-forums-key-actions-update.865969/
When this fixes come out, OxygenOS should really become obsolete in terms of image quality. But spoken of this: Isn't there a nice, working Google Camera port already out for the 5/5T? I skipped the 5/5T, because OnePlus really pis... me off for reasons - another story.

Can you use the official google camera app while using a custom ROM?

title = question
and if not are there significant differences in the ported gcams vs the official?
I don't think anyone will be able to answer this precisely unless a developer comes in here.
with the said, just because the app is the same, doesn't mean it really is the same.
I'm gonna go along with this guide https://redandblack.io/blog/2020/using-google-camera-on-grapheneos/
will post comparison results later if all goes OK
that guide works as of Jan 2021, only I updated the google cam v6 that came with stock 3a rom.
I added the Google Camera to the current Bliss for sargo (as a straight addition from the Play Store) - unless there is some sort of blockage, it should be the case for any custom ROM for Google devices.
Yes! I have the official camera and gallery apps and I'm running lineage. If I recall correctly, you need to flash it AFTER installing the custom OS and (optional) GAPPS but before it boots up for the first time.
Hi, and how about the quality? Is it as good as on stock?
Just about to bootloader unlock my 3a and picture quality is something I really don't wanna loose.
Thanks,

99% of the ROMs include the stock google camera. There is no difference in how the camera performs on the custom ROM, it relies on the same libs and uses the stock APK from the playstore dedicated to Pixel phones.

This.
Outside of Pixel's, I'm not too familiar if it's the same concept, but back then when this was a thing, a lot of progress was made and this is no longer a thing.
Just use Google's camera instead of a different app if you want the best photos.

Don't think so since they built their own, but you can download it from the Play Store.
