I'm on stock. In my opinion don't make sense to flash custom ROM on Pixel. That device is really optimized on stock. You never know when Dev stop development ROM. Yes... They always are sure never will be stopped. Many times I heard that and they stopped. I need really stable software to use daily. I used lot of ROMs. Even now official crDroid was stopped for 7pro. So I don't think so is good choice to flash custom if stock is enough optimized. Off course this is just my opinion.

But battery life of stock p7 is so bad, i can't stay 1 day without charging the phone.
SOT is only about 4,5 hours. With evolution x, i have about 6-6,5h
Maybe it's the best thing that i want
I can't link the rom I use due to the rules.

How can u get it with stock ?
you will not get any extras from custom roms if you switched from official system , users who have xiaomi devices with cutting edge specs but poor software like miui might do so , but you have all the things you want in stock android , you might flash custom karnel for more perfomance and longer battery life ,but stock equals stability and reliability especially for pixels

Don't get me wrong, stock lack a lot of things that make your phone better function
you have magisk and its modules , you have custom kernels that improve battery life and perfomance , what do you want more than that , this can cover the extras you talk about , custom roms that are heavily modified than the rubbish miui skin is a headache , custom roms devs dont care much about tracking and fixing bugs , when you install custom roms you know that there is a deal , you get those useless extras , in exchange for stability and reliability
note , my words applied just for the pixel stock roms , not for third party rubbish like miui and oneui and their brothers

I'll get from a custom ROM whatever I add to said custom ROM, which, agreeably isn't much over stock, lol
I like the minimalist approach, pitch black, system fonts/icons, and battery styles are the only thing missing from stock, as far as I'm concerned.

I wondered the same thing.
Pixel devices are known for its Stock Pure Android experience.
I see know reason to install a custom rom on a pixel phone as the trade off isn't worth it.
A custom kernel ill probably flash one day but i really want to keep my Pixel Un-Rooted..

I have been using Slimkat on my Note 3 since I bought it. This week I might try out the stock ROM with Xposed to compare.

Same here, mostly running alexandr's ROM with lean kernel. Works wonders. But I can't understand why people buy this phone and flash aosp roms that turn the spen into a simple stick.
one of android best features to me ... is having a custom rom
but lately they all feel like stock with exposed enabled .... im still searching for a good rom to use everyday
rooted X-Note 3 knox 0X0
Stock rom with xpose especially Wanamp:good:
Tested lots of ROMs, if not all, that are available for the Nope 3. AOSP, TW based...
Best look, performance & speed - AOSP cannot be beaten here. And even if some FCs happened until I setup an AOSP, after that there's no hiccups, even on nightlies. Fire up ART runtime, and the speed gets to disgusting levels, but it's like a car, the faster you go, the more likely the crash.
Pure stock TW is ugly as hell, but coming from Samsung themselves, it's stable and everything works. And there ARE people who use the S-Pen every day. o.o
Also, it's probably the fact that I can't properly set up the kernel on AOSP, because the ugly slow TW gets me more battery life than AOSP. And I go tinkering with the kernel, and USB stops working, FCs, and other s**t. :/ I need to learn more on the topic, probably...
Currently, using Audax ROM with stock kernel.
make my own custom since i don't really use some of the function avail on other custom.
i vote for custom rom
when i am in stock note 3 the ported s5 apps doesnt work thats why i chose s5 ported roms as the note 3 dont get s5 apps or even the s5 uI samsung fault they dont care about there fans new phone produce throw your phone away cause you well get worse update - as i know 4.3 was better than 4.4.2 / 1-call record working without root - 2- camera performance better - 3- white keyboard - 4-not draining battery fast and ... a lot of things i may forget it dont forget the last update which introduce knox 2.0 which make towel-root useless - so tell me reasons not be in custom rom or you just stock with useless phone / i just losing faith with samsung update cause i know every update are getting even worse
I like using stock-based custom ROM with Xposed.

Personally, I prefer Stock because it's official and custom rom does not give you a big advantage over the original with Xposed, except with the custom I can not activate screen mirroring.

Me too!
Hello,
I am using Nexus 5 on stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow (MRA58N).
I read that Xposed framework is finally working on 6.0 (as well as GravityBox).
So I decided to give a try, but I realized that I need to root my device first. Then I started reading about custom kernels. Then I started looking through all the great custom ROMs that are availble at XDA....
Which option is the best for now for Nexus 5? Are those custom ROMs really that good compared to stock 6.0?
So I can't make my mind, what should I do?
1. Stay on stock (bo-o-o-o-o-oring)
2. Root and install Xposed
3. Get a custom ROM
What I want - more customization, 100% stability, good performance, good battery.
Can you guys give me some advice?
P.S.: I have a lot of experience with custom ROMs, I installed a lot of that on my HTC Desire and even installed Android on my HTC Touch Cruise (that came with Windows Mobile). On my Nexus 5 I tried MIUI and I loved it, but every time I still comeback to the stock Android.
1 or 2 or a few layers roms like Chroma I guess (I didn't tried). CM based roms aren't stable enough for now.
Xposed and Gravitybox are at early stage so if you need 100% stability, stay on full stock.

Nope but you can feel it by using custom apps like Amplify.
Custom roms and kernels don't really help for battery life. FYI http://elementalx.org/the-truth-about-kernels-and-battery-life/

Every person is going to give you a different answer. Different users use different features....you have to evaluate what is the perfect rom for you. The best way to do this is to take a current TWRP backup and try a few. You can always restore your backup. Be aware the marshmallow ones all have significantly shorter screen on time than the 5.0.2 or cm12.1 did but of course have the latest features (and eliminate the lag the stock 5.0.2 had).
I personally stuck with the original marshmallow rom...it's been tested the most (by alcatel) and anytime you start cramming in parts of other roms to "customize" it you increase the chance of bugs.
Hello everyone, greetings!
My question is are stock ROMs faster in loading and launching apps than custom ROMs
I'm asking this because I'm currently on RR 5.8.2 and I'm starting to feel that Stock 6.0.1 feels faster(sometimes).
What are your thoughts on this?

In many cases, yes... the stock ROM is faster, more efficient, and more battery friendly. Moto might do a lot of things wrong, but they know how to optimize a ROM and kernel.
Yes, is better.
Is lineage os something better?
Stock ROM 6.0.1 is only faster if you are using another customer Marshmellow ROM. However Custom Nougat ROMs are alot faster than stock Marshmellow ROM. This is for simple reason that Nougat is better than Marshmellow. I have tried most of them and also I went back to stock for few weeks and I was feeling Stock ROM is working in slow motion as compare to Nougat ROMs . However battery consumtion and optimisation is far better on stock ROM as compare to any other custom ROM.
Lineage is simply nougat and stock is simply MM. speed-wise I would have to run a lot of tests to find out which is faster. I run Lineage because it works (for me) and it gets the security updates, which MM does not. Have no idea about RR.

I think people play a lot more with their new toy (custom rom) so the display is on a lot more and this will kill any battery. It's not the rom, but the user.

Given the same type of use I find that Lineage is ever so slightly better on battery than stock 6.0, but I would expect that as N is supposed to be ever so slightly better than M.
Example - daily use, I used to run stock 6.0 M down to 85 regularly and N is generally 90 or 88%. XT1540/US/ATT/GoPhone. There are days where I only run LinOS down to 97%.

Yes it does alot fatser on custom ROMS. I have tried most of the ROMS in this forum . Battery is best in Stock Marshmellow ROM. The only ROM which is closest to stock is nearly pure Nougat ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/osprey-aosp-caf-7-1-1-t3576936
Try this one has best battery life . also make sure you read Q&A on bottom of the page for further battery saving of above ROM Thread

Do you guys calibrate battery after flashing new roms?
Hi All,
My experience has been a little different from others here. My phone usage is lesser compared to others in general. So I am writing based on that:
On Stock MM 6.0.1 on Osprey I used to get 4-5 days on a single 100% charge.
On Custom Nougat 7.1.1 (GzRom Tesla) with similar usage pattern as above I consistently get 8-10 days with a single 100% charge.
Also custom roms feel way faster than stock roms.

Not really... I've rarely seen it make any real difference unless you have an issue where it doesn't seem to be charging fully or it's shutting down at more than 3%
I will be giving it to my mother as her first smartphone and I need to be confident it will work okay for her with minimal tech knowledge needed to fix any issue, can you recommend one?

None of them for me.
Try pure nexus ROM,very few app come out of the build and install only what you need.Very stable for me
Stock... You need stock ROM for this situation, it is the most stable and battery friendly and the least confusing. At least they could ask someone who has general familiarity with Android questions without going into menus on Res Remix or AICP or something that would confuse them.
The situation calls for simplicity, stability, and functionality... stock is the best choice. If you don't have your backup, look around here, there are plenty of tutorials on how to go back to stock.
Go with stock rom
I was also looking for a stable ROM for Moto G3 XT1541. Interesting to see all the recommendations here to stay with the stock ROM. My reason for considering a custom ROM was that I've stopped getting system updates: last was around June with Android patch security level 1 April 2017 so I've assumed no more updates are being issued. I'm not comfortable using a system that isn't getting security updates, so is a custom ROM the way to go?
(Hope this isn't considered thread hijacking, happy to post as new thread if so.)
Stock or LineageOS, as they don't have unnecessary customizations.
