I am facing a really weird issue.
Brief:
My phone will either work with sim A but when I insert my second sim both of them get undetected.
Story :
I have a 48 sim and an Airtel network sim. One day my phone hanged and restarted from then it isn't detecting sim and sim manager behaves weirdly.
But If I take the second sim out phone detects my first sim. But won't detect if I just let the second sim in or both sim in.
I have attached the screenshot of Sim manager when both Sims are inserted.
It is recommended to go to your carrier's customer service center and ask them to check or change the second SIM for you.

Thank you for replying James.
The issue is that when I put both sim then none of them get recognised.

As James said above, i would also try and get a replacement SIM card.
I had a similar issue with my Note8 that my SIM would randomly stop working, after a few months of trying different things on the phone (including factory reset) i replaced the SIM with a new one (being the first replacement it was free on my carrier), after that i never had any more issues.

I wanted to test the unlock i did on my phone yesterday, so i put my brothers tmobile sim card in my phone, but all it did was show a sim card icon at the top of the status bar, and i didn't have signal. so i just figured the unlock didn't work.
Then when my brother put his sim card back in his phone, his wasn't working. apparently the sim was reformatted or something, and now he has to get a new sim. anyone heard of this before? also should i try another sim card, or will it just destroy that one too?

you forgot to select network operators in the wireless settings. in the wireless and network setting select mobile network then select network operators your phone will then scan available network operators and show you at&t or t-mobile after the scan. since you want t-mobile simply select it.

would that have made his sim card work again if my phone recognized the network? or was that just something weird that happened. I am new to the whole unlocking deal.
Thanks for the help, I am a little nervous to try it now, as i dont want to mess up his card again! :/
you should be fine. is your contact actually stored on your sim? ,maybe your brother's sim is empty but his contacts are stored in his phone. contacts stored in sim card are not easily get deleted than contacts stored in phone simply import you phone contacts to your sim to be safe.
my contacts are fine, but his phone actually would not work when he put his sim card back in his phone. it's just a regular dumbphone, but he didn't have signal or anything. Do you know what would cause that?
there must be an option somewhere in his phone to select the wireless network he has. what phone he is using? maybe a simple reboot on his phone with his sim card already in place would do.
yea maybe, i think he was going to go to tmobile this morning.. i guess i can't really call him to have him try though!
anyway i'll see if he will be brave enough to let me try again! thanks for the help!
I may understand sim cards wrong but from what I understand the sim does not announce to the carrier hey this is eric shins phone. It instead just broad casts a number the carrier sees the number and associates it with eric shins number. That's why you can buy a prepaid att phone call the company up, give them the sim number and they can connect that with your phone.
More then likely the sim was physically damaged

hmm.. that does make sense. I thought i had heard of other people just popping in other people's sim cards and it wasn't a problem, but i don't know.
Just kinda strange that it was working before , and after i tried it, his phone no longer worked. Maybe it was damaged when he took it out or put it in, but from my experience they are pretty sturdy pieces of plastic!
i'll have to see what he says when he gets it fixed.

hmnn... thats what I thought because the op post that somewhere in the process when putting back in the sim he see's it was reformatted. just like putting an sd card with my other phone that is not samsung it can't read/open files unless you format it that would surely delete the data in it. in his instance without a warning it automatically formatted the sim and deleted all the data in it which would make it useless. in his case the sim card before is associated with the network but somehow reformatted and the data in it was lost.
so he went to tmobile today and got a new sim card, and everything works again.
maybe it did get damaged in the process.. who knows now!
Hey everyone thanks for your help in advance... I just bought my phone and went to T-Mobile to get a new micro Sims card. After putting it in, the phone didn't recognize it. I put in the APN settings and it doesn't save it. This really sucks right now because I don't know what else to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated. And my phone isnt rooted yet, just want the stock for now. Thanks again
Is the sim activated? Sometimes on a new sim it takes a few hours to start working.
I was already on Tmo with an N5. I just moved the sim over and all was good.

What he said. If OP has another phone that uses a MicroSIM, put the sim in that phone and see if it works.
Also did u insert the sim properly into its slot?

I actually didn't. I agreeing with what you said and added onto your point.
I didn't mean the u to be directed to NaterTots but to the OP. Sorry for the confusion.
I screwed up and instead of using my old Sim card and cutting I went into T-Mobile and had them activate a new micro Sim card and put it straight in. The old one is deactivated.
The new micro Sim does work in my old gslaxy S2 phone which used an older big Sim card. Its now using a Sim adapter.

Did you insert the SIM card in the right direction and not upside down? I know thats silly to ask.
to be honest its simple man and actually nothing you needed to make a thread about. Simple go to TMobile store and try an already active sim card. Go to AT&T and see if they can put an active sim card to help you out. Basically go to anywhere that works with a TMobile or AT&T derivative and try it out. Nothing really else we can do to help you on this.
Not try to be rude or anything but its the truth. If none of that works then you may have to RMA. Also maybe find a friend or family member and try their sim . Good luck :good:
Should work. Using my one plus with Solavei (t-mobile based company) and having no issues.

First time i've also put the tray wrong. True story
Just had this problem after coming from using the phone overseas and no signal whatsoever on the phone despite numerous restarts, SIM cleaning, and chats with T mobile. After verifying the APN was correct I went to Settings-->About Phone-->Status-->SIM Status and checked to see if the SIM was connected(it showed my phone number, but was disconnected). So from here went to Settings-->Mobile Networks-->Network Operators and let the phone find carriers automatically. Mine showed T-mobile(with a little SIM icon to the right of it), Verizon, and ATT. I clicked on T-Mobile and it registered and is now working.
Probably saved me $15 at the T-Mobile store. Hope this helps even just one of you.
Woke up the other day and my AT&T s6 randomly got this issue. I am using my cricket sim card on this smg900a. Tried another cricket sim and it also did not work. It is not my sim either as im currently using it on another phone. Also does not appear to be a hardware issue as it detects when i insert or remove the sim. Just says No SIM, Emergency calls only. Please help anybody.
Perhaps some faulty SIM cards? Try one from another operator. Also AT&T phones usely works only with AT&T SIM cards if I'm correct.

Cricket is an at&t sub carrier. All at&t phones work on cricket actually, ive been using at&t phones on their service for quite a while now.
Try to contact the carrier and see what they suggest.

Well all they tried was put in a new sim card which did not work.. said it was the phone. But i believe it might be software related.

I can see several more people have same issue, including myself, but I tampered service mode and EFS folder, so I guess there could be a problem.
Unfortunately dont have original EFS folder backup, or warranty, as I am not the first owner of the phone.

Yep i gotta use a cheap phone meanwhile -.- this sucks.
I have a polish sim card which works fine with my other Iphone, when i insert the same sim card to my nexus 5 it can't register to any carrier !
Why is that, is there any solution for this bizarre problem ?
Thanks
You tried the sim with an iphone (works) and Nexus 5 (doesn't work). Did you try the sim in a third phone?
The Nexus 5 cannot be carrier unlocked because it was never carrier locked.
I don't have a third phone. Do you think that I should flash another radio ver. on the phone?
The Nexus 5 detects the sim card? If it does detect the sim card, I think your iphone's imei is somehow tied to the sim card.
What does it mean?
And how can I resolve it?
I would really appreciate any help ?
P.s.
Apparently a different sim (vodaphone) doesn't work in this phone either.
???
Has the vodaphone sim been activated?
If both sim cards do not work in the phone and the phone can see but not connect to networks, it may be possible that the phone is blacklisted? Is the imei correct?

That's friend phone....so....
He said that the sim (which doesn't work right now) worked before. I don't know about the Vodafone sim.
How can i find out that this phone is in the blacklisted?
Thanks again,
You can check the imei here: https://swappa.com/esn
Since the vodaphone sim is not active, it is not a good test of the Nexus 5. It would be best to try an active/working sim in the N5.
1. How can I know if my phone tied to the sim card ? (you mentioned it before)
2. Do you know this website http://www.imei.info/
Thanks
I don't know that site but the swappa site will tell you if the phone is blacklisted.
The only way to tell if the sim card is tied to the iPhone;'s imei is to try the sim in another phone to see if you can connect to the carrier network. In the USA, AT&T tie their prepaid sim cards to a phone imei.
As I mentioned before the sim card worked fine with my iPhone.
But the "fishy" story here is that the Vodafone's sim card doesn't work as well.
So it might be a blacklisted issue.
Your thoughts?
Did you check the imei on the swappa site?
Note yet
I would check the imei to make sure the imei is not blacklisted and does belong to a nexus 5.
I updated my friend to do so.
Thanks
Hi everyone,
First post so be gentle
I got my dual sim honor 8 some months ago as I dont want to carry 2 phones around with me.
My personal sim and the phone are with Three UK and my work sim is with EE.
The three sim is in slot 1 and the EE simin slot 2 and I am finding the calls keep dropping for no reason on the EE sim. I can be in an area with full signal but when the call drops I cant dial out or receive calls. The phone goes to dial but just sits with the calling screen and then fails to connect.
After I have moved it works again, its generally happening in the same places too but places that shouldnt be an issue.
Whilst the sim 2 is in this condition I can still call out from sim 1 (Three) and this problem never occurs on sim 1 (Three).
I have tried swapping the sims over but the problem remains with the EE sim. I have tried to swap the 4g priority over but the Three sim is 3g only so wont work as the secondary sim.
I have spoken with my work IT and they have replaced the EE sim but this hasnt fixed it, I have called Three tech support who have reset this and reset that and run diagnostics and say nothing wrong with the handset.
Any ideas or any one else experienced this?
Many thanks
If it's from the EE sim card, then it's from them I believe

Hi,
I have and they advise no fault, they have even replaced the sim card to rule this out.
Just try with a 3rd operator on both SIM slots: that will rule out hardware problems.
As for 3G/4G, operators use different bands, but you shouldn't have any problem.
