Question T'Eyes CC3 2K - Slow 4G Internet / Antenna Placement - FYT Android Head Units

Hi guys,
Quick question: what is the best antenna placement for the T'Eyes CC3 2K for best signal reception ?
My installer placed the 4G & Wifi 5G antennas sticked on the left pillar (driver side, under the factory cover, next to each other - like 2 cm apart) and the GPS on the same side a little lower towards the dash.
4G reception was pretty slow compared to the test I did on my phone in the same location (same carrier, using speedtest app)
Then I had my installer move the GPS antenna on the opposite side (passenger pillar), leaving the 4G and 5G/Wifi in place, next to each other on the left pillar.
Didn't see a big improvement ...
I am using a SIM card installed in the external adapter located in my glove box.
Do you think the 4G mounted next to the 5G / Wifi is causing the slow speeds ?
Or is it just the carrier / GPS & LTE bands available on the T'Eyes CC3 2K for my location ?
In the same locations, my iPhone is fast on 4g
Thanks again !

You're going to get a better signal and better speed on most mobile phones.
The modems are just better designed and usually support more frequency bands.
The same goes for 4g/5g routers. The throughput is often much lower than a mobile phone.
I get faster speeds tethering from my mobile to the head unit than I get by putting the SIM directly in the head unit.

Yes i was thinking maybe the smartphone has much better hardware for 4G/5G.
I will try to use the mobile hotspot for a few days and see how i like it.
Thanks for replying !

I was facing same problem and was wondering what i did wrong. In the beginning was thinking that the GPS antenna interfere (i put Cellular and GPS antenna in between 30 cm) but looks like i should get used with it

What did the seller suggest when contacted for support?

I didn’t contacted the seller. I went back to their recommended installer and ask them to move the GPS antenna on the other side.
Still same behavior afterwards.
I think it’s just the hardware and the limited GPS/LTE bands supported by it
If we think about it, our smartphones have all antennas crammed into a small case without any issues. It’s just better hardware.

This must be hardware issue, funny enough crappy YT57B very slow, fake parameters head unit had much better reception than my new Teyes CC3 6G, what a shame.

Antenna location, where exactly is it?

Is it on the cover? On the phone body itself?
Anyone know the exact location of where it's located?

Thanks...I'm assuming that the main antenna is toward the bottom of the phone since people have been complaining about the death grip issue?
If the main antenna was indeed on the very top then the death grip would be irrelevant since the top never gets covered by your hand. When holding the phone, the hand usually grips the middle-bottom portion of the phone.
Pretty interesting....hhmm..

I take it the very upper left gold contact part and the bottom gold part are where the antennas are located? ?

All of them are antenna contacts. Two for the cellular radio (one at the top and one at the bottom), one for the GPS and one for the BT/WiFi

Not true. It's touching or covering the top area of the phone that causes the wifi problem. It typically occurs in landscape mode where the left hand is holding the top back part of the phone. You can see vids on YouTube showing it. It's also been shown just by touching the very top edge, or specific spots on the top side of the back.
I was referring to specifically to the cell phone signal. As mentioned, I have reason to believe that the bottom antenna may be the main voice/web (3g/4g) signal? Which may be responsible for the death grip?
Anyhow, I just wanted clarification as to what the four gold points are specifically responsible for.
So let's start with the bottom. That may be the voice/web antenna?
Upper right (two gold contacts) wifi and gps?
Upper left (one gold point) for voice?

Death grip people are talking about is wifi, not mobile network. I don't have problems with mobile network signal, but I have BIG problems with wifi.
Top plastic (where the camera is): wifi & BT antenna
Bottom plastic: mobile network antenna
Oh, and there is another contact on T-Mobile version (top left) but I'm not sure what it's for.

The top contact is for the additional antenna that gives the HTC Sensation 4G receive diversity AKA less of a death grip effect when using the phone in portrait mode. It's an additional antenna

A is the GPS antenna.
B is the WiFi/Bluetooth antenna. (I agree, tested pins)
C is the "Diversity" antenna (rx only). (Can't be, I just tested and got GPS signal to be stronger on these pins)
D/E is the GSM/WCDMA antenna.

The main cellular antenna is definitely at the bottom.

A is GPS and Diversity is below the camera per the FCC filing attached here:
My current theory (since the XE lacks antenna "A") is that if the filing photo is correct, the Diversity antenna may act a backup for the GPS antenna. Or the filing could be wrong and GPS/diversity are switched, in which case the XE doesn't have a Diversity antenna.

That's what I was thinking, the international Sensation doesn't have the contact there (A) and the Sensation 4G is the one with RX Diversity. It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for them to completely switch the antenna spots around. It could be possible tho

I have the HTC Sensation 4G (z710a from Bell) and it does not have the A-pin.
Nonetheless all connections (BT, Wi-Fi, GPS, mobile network) are working great!
As seen on the picture, the mentioned A-pin is missing on both covers. The left one is what I have for daily use and the right one came with my phone.
I have a second white cover and the pin is missing, too.

[Q] Galaxy Tab 2 7 Wifi antena issue? Death Grip

Similar to iPhone 4, the wifi bar drops when I grab lower left corner in portrait mode. It doesn't seem to drop the connection completly but the bar goes down from 5 to 1..
Does anyone have this issue or could it be specific to my unit? Ready to swap if so

It is on the same side with sd card slot. Assuming that wifi signal goes down by grabing where the serial number sticker is in the picture. If it is a device specific issue I will return mine and swap it.
Pls share your story to figure if it is a design issue that all sgt2 7 have this flaw.

My tab has *EXCELLENT* wifi reception... when I hold it in portrait - upside down.
Only slightly less better in landscape either right side up or upside down. Seriously. Better even than my Droid X.
They had to put the antenna(s) somewhere. Leave it to an engineer to pick the worse location.

Thanks and it justifies the swap to new one. I am actually glad to hear that it is not an universal issue.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
The signal drops if I hold it along the lower left side in portrait, but I don't loose connectivity. While they could have put it somewhere else, the best place would be where the power and volume buttons are, but the buttons probably prevented that. If they put it anywhere else, there would be an issue with poor location when being held, or loosing signal while being held.
Swapped with new unit and the problem does not occur at the same level. The signal strength does fluctuate but within a smaller range than the previous one.

They could. Right up to the point where it doesn't work at all.
RF layout and design is a fickle thing, where everything becomes a series of trade-offs. Personally, I'm amazed that works as well as it does.
For a living, I do PCB layout and manage/maintain an ECAD library. I recently put a part in the library - WiFI/Blutooth antenna chip. It's a tiny, really tiny thing with the inputs on opposite ends. At the time, I notice the datasheet said both inputs were GROUNDED. (?!?) I brought it up to the tech that submitted it - who called the manufacturer and we determined it was not a mistake. I did the layout, the boards were fabricated and assembled, and it works perfectly. It's just a mystery of modern RF technology.
I've spent some time with Samsung support. This is what they had to say:
Visitor: It sounds to be a hardware issue at least in my opinion... something with the antenna placement, bad isolation or something...
Samsung: Thank you for holding.
Samsung: Thank you for bringing the issue to our notice.
Samsung: I will make sure that the concerned department hear regarding this issue.
Since everyone sees this as a huge problem, where do you want to put the antennae that it wouldn't see a drop in signal during use? Put it at the top left, and it's going to be on the very bottom during landscape use and likely see issues. Put it on the top and you loose signal during landscape use, plus you have to deal with the headphone jack. Put it on the bottom and you need to move the USB connection and speakers, and you would deal with signal loss during landscape use. Put it on the bottom right, and you loose service the same as you do now. Put it on the top right, and you have to deal with the power/volume buttons and the IR blaster. So where does everyone want to put the wifi antennae then? A dongle that plugs into the device?
Be a left handed person
At least, top left side is less touched than other place unless move the power button and put WiFi there...
Anyways the intention of OP was to figure out if it is a design issue or a flawed device case. At last we know what it is and have some piece in our mind by admitting it as it is.
Knowing that Kindle fire has a similar form factor and use scenarios, I wonder if Kindle fire also shows the same death grip case.
Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express
If it were an issue with the case, you wouldn't see any change in signal, or you would have terrible signal all the time. It could be considered a design flaw but it is likely a design compromise. It could also be that they tried to put the wifi antennae elsewhere, but found that it had the best performance in the current location.

SM-N920P weak signal

Hello guys, I need some help.
I have bought SM-N920P and using it in Caucasus region , in Georgia.
Our GSM and UMTS band are compatible with it , not LTE ( its B3 1800+ ) .
It works without LTE but it s still ok, but when it runs into weak signal, it makes me mad. What can I do yo increase signal strength ? Change modem ? or something else ...
ex : in the street it has no problem with signal , but lets say in buildings, the signal falls too much or even it is lost.
Baseband Version : N920PVPS3DRC1
Hardware Version : N920P.04
Build Number : NRD90M.N920PVPS3DRC1

No I think the only way is to disassemble and change antenna or add some stuff
The Sprint model was never meant to be used outside the United States.
YES! I managed to increase the signal reception significantly by replacing the middle frame! I was getting -113dbm at home and was losing signal completely but now I'm getting -89dbm in the same conditions! Middle frame contains various antennas and different n920 versions got different antennas. So I bought middle housing for N920C and it worked nicely. Not getting LTE though, even after unlocking in NV memory but still its a completely useable phone now. Battery drain also decreased a bit. -0.9% per hour while sleeping vs -5-6% before.

Here you see antenna cables. They had a bad signal receive . I have removed coaxial connectors from the board, cut the antenna cable and attached directly on the board in positions it has been. Now my dbm is from -56 to -67. Until this it was above -85.
I should also say that I m going to change House frame . it might can increase signal a little more.

5G is coming to the Midlands first. (UK)

It has just been announced that the 5G network will be coming to the West Midlands for first trials in the UK.
What is 5G ?
5G is about to be launched as the latest and fastest mobile phone network. It will be expected to be 1000x faster than 4G which is (depending on comparison of network quality type) roughly 50x quicker than 3G. (see link at bottom of post for indepth info)
Will 5G cook our brains and can I fry toast in front of the cellnet ?
There is a massive debate, conspiracy or not on this matter but the technical side of this, in laymans terms works something like this;
As frequencies get higher and bandwidth gets wider, more power is needed to send signals, which is where most of the scare story comes from. However, Also as frequencies get higher, aerials / antennae get smaller, thus it is much more possible to place lower powered antennae closer together. So to some degree, we don't need to take at least some of the risk said to be involved. Spooky eh ?
Look on social media for paranoia vs conspiracy on these matters.
What will 5G mean for the networks and customers ? RIP MP3 ?
The sooner 5G takes hold of the market, the more 4G and 3G will be freed up. As a result, data will inevitably get cheaper and cheaper and we will have a set of networks that can cope with unlimited connections for the masses. No doubt the "idiots" out there who want to download and host everything and blackmarket it will cause the network owners to look into how this is dealt with and let's hope they do a better job than last time.
However, 5G networks will be able to transfer full HD movies in less than 15-20 seconds. An mp3 should have downloaded completely, almost before it has been released and you have realised you want it.
There is a question about mp3s becoming irrelevant if battery life on devices can cope with lengthy screen usage making video the new mp3. Now you see those phones coming with 12,000maH and battery banks becoming a very serious commodity. Combine those batteries on our devices and 12 TB drives on home networks and you truly will be able to access your vast home catalogues anywhere in the world.
So what about 5G phones ?
Sadly, like 4G networks and 3G phones, 4G phones will not work on 5G networks.
Question, where is the phone industry on this ?
Just some thoughts and hopefully some knowledge from this tiny brain of mine. :good:
I do not work in the industry at all, but I do appreciate good quality tech, especially at budget prices.

Cool! Rather, 5G technology has spread around the world.
5g will replace 4g in all other countries, including the UK shortly. 5G can provide wireless broadband, better broadcasting technology, higher automation and autonomy across everything from producing to automotive, and support for a more significant density of connected devices, support for new categories of connected devices and many more.
Great
Great news ! 5G generation!

We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the OnePlus 8T's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add.
I am interested in buying the T-Mobile version of this phone, but the only thing holding me back are multiple reviews of poor cellular signal strength. First reported on Android Police, but also lots of 1 star reviews on the T-Mobile site for the OnePlus 8 5G, which I understand has similar design and antenna hardware. Can anyone comment on cell strength, especially when compared to prior phones? I would be coming from the Pixel 3xl

The 8T has a vastly different design and way better reception. Check notebookcheck review.
Woah so I have the Oneplus 8T 5G TMO and so far I am indeed experiencing issues with 5G.
No calls can be made in a seemingly normal 5G connection at certain times.
dropping to 4gLTE manually may solve the issue however, this isn't always done automatically.
5G is buggy in my area with this phone currently.
I am having some wired network issue with OnePlus 8T. Here are my observations,
1. The issue is happening with my Jio 4G (Indian mobile service operator network)
2. This problem mainly happens with VoWiFi is active. Outgoing calls are fine, connects without any issue and no call quality issue either. However, 9/10 times when phone (Jio 4G SIM) is on a WiFi network & VoWiFi is active, any incoming call fails to come, caller gets to hear out of network message.
I have a second SIM Card, AirTel (India) and it too supports VoWiFi. It works absolutely fine, no issue.
3. Call Forwarding / Call Waiting service details fails with network error with Jio SIM, but working fine with AirTel.
On the surface, it seems like issue is with Jio SIM card / network but surprisingly it works fine when I insert the same SIM on another device.
I have logged a complain with Jio (service provider) regarding this. I am bit confused as is it the device or the SIM Card (network) to blame as same SIM card works fine in other device and other network (My Airtel) sim card is working fine on this device
Thanks.
The 5G connection has been cleaned up for me latest updates feel smooth and am excited to still unlock the bootloader and break free from T-Mobile's rendition of the rom.
Network performance under 4G is good, out of the box 8T supports fastest 4G standard & carrier aggregation. Internet speeds are excellent if or when network is upto the mark to offer it.

Lossing signal at random times without any visible explanation.
happens at least ten times a day.
OnePlus support was no help on the case
would strongly advise you not to buy this model.
hopefully will be fixed on newer models.

I know the question has nothing to do with this topic, however, I think this does not interfere in this topic.
Question: why would anyone want to voluntarily buy a T-Mobile version of a OnePlus device? Are there any positive aspects to this?
In my opinion, only disadvantages?
Is it cheaper?
T-Mobile have the OnePlus 8T+ for the same price, it is dust and water resistant. Being the only phone advantage. Also you can finance your phone, and trade in deals specific to T-Mobile. Also, out of warranty insurance coverage is you are up for that.
Been using this for a few days now and this is my favorite ROM out of the lot I've tried. Great battery, performance, and the customizations are fantastic. Appreciate it!
Tell The Bell
I get no cellular signal on my new 8T. Has anyone else had this problem? I am on Puretalk network and calls and messages work fine.
