Question pre installed screen protector - Xiaomi 13

Is there really pre installed screen protector on the Xiaomi 13 as some mentioned? And is it any good? Surely it wont withstand a hit with a hammer, but for normal every day use, is it enough? Should I get another one while buying the phone? Like I have had Xiaomi phones that come with a rubber case and those cases are good. Never had a need to change them. How is the screen protector?

I haven't gotten mine yet, but as far as I recall Xiaomi includes a film screen protector with each phone. It works about as well as any other basic film screen protector. If you're the type of person that prefers glass screen protectors, though, you'll probably want to get one elsewhere.

If I get like tempered glass, will it limit the finger print reader functionality? It didn't really work so well on my Xiaomi Mi note 10 until I installed a specific custom ROM.

It may have been a thing a while back for glass screen protectors to lack the appropriate transmittance for optical fingerprint sensors like in the 13, but nowadays I believe they have it sorted. I would look for ones that advertise high transparency, sensitivity, or accuracy.

Pre-installed screen protector is sh*t, not pleasant at all to touch.
If you intend to use gestures, I recommend no protector at all.

That's surprising! I have a POCO F3 and have been using its pre-installed SP since I got it over six months ago. It's held up great so far and I don't notice any touch sensitivity issues!
Do you think the 13 uses a different setup?

I am unable to find a suitable screen guard for max pro m1, if any member has found one then please reply with the link of product. I had already bought one online from Flipkart but it doesn't stick from the sides , which makes it look terrible. Please help.

It is because of 2.5 D glass on the phone. You will get an halo effect.
There are videos demonstrating using oil to remove this effect but that might cause issue with mic if oil enters there accidentally so better keep it as is.

Totally agree .. putting oil on your phone is kinda dumb.
I use https://www.flipkart.com/flipkart-s...CCF4GCKGV6ZSZQY&lid=LSTACCF4GCKGV6ZSZQYQVVCSB which I brought along with the phone.
It has the halo effect ( edges not sticking to the screen ) but I got used to it.
Technically .. flat screen protector is better as it does not have weak edges .. screen protector which is curved on the edges will have weak points. So I will keep using this one.
No screenguard + flip cover is the way 2 go. Wonder why u idiots are so into this screen protector. There are many videos / articles bothfor and against these dumb add-ons. Ergo, go without, but have something 2 cover/ protect the screen, when not in use.
You can try this website https://www.gadgetshieldz.com/?currency=INR
They have m1 screen protector.
I think 5D screen protector is needed for our phone to get front protected perfectly... There are 5D tempered glass for other phones out there... i really wish some manufacture make one for our wonderful phone too...

Well we idiots like these dumb add ons as they protect the screen of a device from scratches , without making the device bulky unlike WOMEN CLUTCHES looking flipcovers . You can change a screen guard after every 2-3 months but you cannot get your screen replaced after every 2-3 months . I use my device for atleast 8 months and don't like to see a scratched screen , thus a screen protector is must for my device .
Anyways thanks for your eye-opening advice. Now I understand all these tech giants like Samsung , oneplus , honor etc . simply loot us by providing expensive screen guards.
Well I am using mi note 5 pro screen guard on my mobile as it fits perfect .
Give it a try .......

Before this I have tried to order screen guard from flipkart but that screen guard was comparatively small then the current screen size of the mobile so I just visited a local mobile vendor and got a mi note 5 pro screen guard which covers the whole screen without any halo effect ......

Try gadgetshieldz screen guard. It is a bit complex to apply as it is a wet type screen guard. It is on a bit of expensive side but totally worth it. It is self healing and the screen guard itself doesnt need a replacement. I found it really good and only screen guard for my galaxy s7 edge.
It feels a bit like a silicon surface and obviously there is no halo effect. If you manage to get it right, trust me you wont need to remove it until you discard your phone. Mine is on my phone for more than a year and it is almost new.

They are not tempered glass. They are wet type screen protectors. Watch on youtube what wet screen protectors are. They are plastic+silicone tear resistant and self healing. And they are a lot more difficult to apply than a normal screen protector. I guess rhino shield has a similar product or invisible shield sells these kind of protectors abroad. Gadgetshieldz is Indian brand. Even their skinnova skins are awesome quality wise. Tried a lot of skins from ebay and other sellers, but found them and I'm satisfied.
Please, I'm not associated with them but I have tried their products. They seem to be on higher side but quality wise, they offer the best among all options available in India.

I don't think so. It won't do much. I haven't dropped my s7 yet to test that but I think it won't do much. I love this for no hallo effects on my screen and no scratches. For drops, a protective case is what I recommend.
Generally what I do is apply this on screen for scratches, a skinnova skin on back and then a ringke fusion transparent case. I find the phone beautiful to look at and secure too, but I have rarely dropped my phone. Honestly I have booked my zenfone, ordered that shield protector, and now just looking for a good case to go along with a skin.
i think this is the one we're looking for

That's why they recommend soap water. A bit of water resistance comes with every phone. I have used it on s7 edge, mi a1 and iPhone 6 and nothing happened. I recommend going through the installation process which they recommend strongly aswell. The phone is yours and the decision too, since someone asked, I just recommended them, since I find the product really good and most importantly with no hollow effect on sides.

Poco F1 Gorilla Glass Version

So, today I spoke to Xiaomi customer care and asked them what version of Gorilla Glass does Poco F1 have.
To my surprise, they said the device comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. I asked them repeatedly if it's GG3 or GG5 and the rep kept saying it's GG5
I am not sure if he was bluffing or if the device really comes with GG5
Even on Corning official website, they didn't mention anything about the version of GG used on Poco F1
Maybe someone can ask them if there is anyway to display from the USB port WITH A CABLE (not wireless) to an external monitor/TV?
What is the USB spec?
I think it's just USB 2.0 data & charging with a Type-C Jack.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/help/poco-f1-mhl-hdmi-t3842287
At its price range, 3rd version is more reasonable

Even I am confused. And even Corning didn't mention the version GG that was used on Poco F1. But on other devices, they mentioned it.
Link: https://www.corning.com/gorillaglass/in/en/smartphones-with-gorilla/xiaomi/poco-f1.html
Anyway, I have sent an email to Corning. Let see if they responded back.
Update: Okay so I got a response from Corning and this is what they have to say.
Now this seems to be highly suspicious to me. Why doesn't Xiaomi want to release the version of GG used on this device. I got a call from customer support team yesterday apologizing for giving me incorrect information. Poco F1 doesn't have GG5. But the guy who called me couldn't tell me what version does the device have. He said he only knows it has 2.5D GG. Anyway, I will now tweet Xiaomi India CEO with this screenshot. It's our right to know what we are using.

I don't think it's GG3 as I have used GG3 on MI A1 and Nokia 7 plus without any screen protector and didn't get a single scratch. But on Poco F1, I already got 2 scratches. Not only me, but a lot of people have reported that the glass on Poco F1 is very scratch prone. I know I can avoid the scratches by using a tempered glass. But I don't like using another layer of plastic sheet on the screen that affects the touch response and reduce the vividity of the screen.
It's most likely a version 3 or newer. It also might vary depending on whether it is made in India/China.
Why is it so important for you to know what version it is anyway?
If you're worried about scratches just take more care of your device or use a screen protector.

Agreed and this thread is completely pointless imo
Gorilla glass or not...it wont avoid any scratches, a little sandgrain in your pocket and its done
Maybe marketing reasons.
You hope to have GG5 installed over GG3, but ask yourself, what's the difference? Is it really more scratchproof? I guess not, just look at scratch tests online of different phones.
Gorilla Glass is a trademark and a selling argument, therefore phone manufacturer most likely have to pay money to promote their products with latest GG5, instead of simply GG.

What are you even doing here if you find this post "Completely pointless"?
You should be ignoring it rather than wasting your time on commenting. And F.Y.I, I think I know what can be posted and what not. If you got any problem (which you shouldn't since I didn't violate any XDA policy), report it to the mod rather than being sarcastic. Do you guys always have to intervene everywhere to divert a simple conversation into a hot argument? When you do something, that's fair. And when others do it, it's pointless and stupid?
Thank you!

It is important for me to know because I feel so. It's not about being worried, it's about having complete information about the device that I am using. I paid for the device and I have full right to have my doubt cleared. Is there a problem if I want to clarify or create a thread on XDA asking others about their opinion?? If YES, then would you mind guiding me to the XDA section where it is written so?
Thank You!!
Hey brother relax, would be nice to know anyway. But i believe the only differenc between 3th and 5th gen of GG is the resistance against cracks isn't it? Like drop and impacts.
Btw our poco is pretty unresistent against random drops, you can check it from youtube tests

True! Thats what I an saying. I have used GG3 on Mi A1 and Nokia 7 plus and J know how good it is. But the glass on Poco F1 is not that good. I already got a scratch, I don’t know how and from where. Didn't intend to offend you.
I just dont understand how it makes any difference knowing the answer.
It's a glass screen. It will scratch. Just take better care of it. :good:
Scratch happen due to tiny dust particles not because of key or knife which youtuber shows because iron and other metals have hardness lower than Gorilla Glass which is 6 but dust particles has hardness of 9 so they will easily scratch any kind of Gorilla Glass whether it's GG6 or GG3. Only sapphire glass has hardness equal to dust particles that is 9. That's why they are used in expensive watches but it is too expensive even apple doesn't use it except on camera lenses. For proof you can watch "Jerry rig everything's" video on poco f1 where he scratches its screen with different grades of hardened materials it gets scratched on level 6 like every other smartphone (even note 9, Apple 10s also gets scratched on level 6). The one who has greater hardness than other will scratch it. Hardness is measured on scale of 1 to 9 where 9 is the hardest material on earth which is Dimond. This is why Dimond is very difficult to cut but it can cut everything. Iron has greater hardness than wood that's why it is able to cut it.
So if there's any dust particle on your screen and you just slides your fingers on it or just rubs your screen against anything like in pocket then it's done. They are so tiny that you can't even notice them. They are everywhere in your pocket, on your fingers everywhere.
The deference between GG3 and GG6 is of only thickness. GG3 is two times thicker than GG6. You can experience this by looking at your screen, you will notice that screen is not touching the glass and there is slight gap between glass and screen because glass has some thickness but if you have ever used GG6 glass phone then you will feel like you are just touching and typing on the screen itself (which feels amazing, like in Samsung Galaxy s9 or note 9) there is no difference between screen and glass, It's that thin but also having same hardness and strength as GG3.
If you hate tempered glass like me but also don't want scratches at the same time then you can use film like screen guards. They don't add any thickness plus doesn't reduce any touch response and don't get bubbles on edges. They are also very clear, you will forget that you have any kind of screen guard on. Here is the link of clear screen guard that I'm using its one of the best film type screen guard available bit expensive but worth it. You can search on youtube "ringke dual easy" to learn how to apply it cause it has four layer and bit tricky. It is self dust removing type of screen guard. If you get bubbles after applying it then don't worry they will vanish after 2 or 3 days. Trust me I'm not promoting anything I'm using this product. There are two screen guard in ane pack. Hope i helped you.

I just installed mine yesterday I actually had it able to read my prints after installing it. I did add 4 prints index, left thumb and 2 right thumb when I got the phone on wed. I have had about 4 domes on my s8+ and installed it on friends phones so I was comfortable with the process.
Can someone check their s10+ with the UV light and tell me if their screen looks like this. This is without any protector on.? Just want to see if this is normal. It's like a rectangular box on the screen. This can only be seen under uv only.

Hellboy, there is a demon living in your phone.
Whitestone dome doesn't work for me either.
The whitestone dome glass doesn't work well for me either, my finger print hits are less than 50%, sometimes as long as 10%. It is really frustrating. I've done everything to make this work, including re-registering prints, enabling touch sensitivity and obtaining all the software updates. The company is also incredibly hard to get a hold of.
I found this on yt and it did work for me
I did the registration of my thumbs 2x per thumb BEFORE THE INSTALLATION and it works PERFECTLY, I did NOT register my fingerprint after the installation.
Hope this helps someone!!!

Yes, I want to try that but I would need a new tempered glass, removing the old one to reapply after a week doesn't seem like a good idea (dust sticking to the bottom of the tempered glass that will now be full of LOCA glue). If whitestone sends a new kit/glass then I'm willing to give them a try again.
Just to caveat that press down on the finger print sensor is new instructions that was not in the original instructions when I bought the kit.

I've had my previous glass replaced by them on my Note 9 due to an error on my part.. They were pretty quick about their response. I did have to pay shipping. However, I've emailed twice about the S10+ and the FPS and I haven't heard anything back yet either.
For 50, its a ripoff. Just get a good case and a wet install and be careful.

Still haven't heard back from Whitestone. Not sure what is going on.
Has anyone tried the method of pressing down the fingerprint area after the 15 sec UV flash? Has it made a difference? I don't want to remove the existing one if it's not going to get any better.

What do you think of this Fingerprint Friendly Tempered Glass for the Samsung S10?

What are your thoughts on this glass?

Mod Edit
Seems the same as Whitestone with a few exceptions. I do like that the camera cutout isn't there but I feel like Whitestone is easier to install with the kits they provide.
Might be a good idea to install that way! Thanks for the share. I ordered something similar from AliExpress, gonna take forever to get here and has some bad and good news for the fingerprint sensor
Im not going to blow money on these gimmicks. Tempered glass has soo many advantages too but the reality is- there is no great solution for the curved screen except a wet install and good case+ extreme care like not walking and using phone, not holding phone while getting out of car in gravel driveway, etc.

i think the front facing camera is optimised as is, adding extra glass will affect that.
Can you give us some pics and review please
FINALLY GOT MY GLASS TODAY AND IT WORKS!!
I tried first with standard way and fingerprint didn't work. Second try followed that video the mods took down and it worked perfectly!! I didn't even re-register my fingers. It's a little less accurate but I'd rather not have a cracked screen when i get careless over the next 3 years I own this phone.

Anyone tried a Whitestone glass protector?

I'm using it. My only issue with the glass in this thread is the absence of the camera cutout. I know before I had stated it seemed nice but my Whitestone has lifted up around the top while still actually being adhered to the phone. If I didn't have the cutouts then my front camera would be blurry. I assume this company would use similar glue and would end up with the same results later on.
get an insurance for it, and save money on your case!!!!
Samsung Premium Care Rocks

Question Screen Protector + Case + s pen Questions

Hi All,
I have just got myself a fold 3.
I have a few questions i need help with please.
1/. With external screen can a hardened screen protector be put on and if so do i need to remove pre installed protector?
2/. I am thinking of buying this case https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0995WPCXJ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2SFKRF5TPZMT5&psc=1
Am i correct to say just the basic s pen will fit and not the pro?
3/. Not sure between the standard s pen and the pro.
Want to make sure it will fit in the case.
Thanks everyone
congratulations on your new purchase mate! but this is the Flip thread not the Fold so I doubt you'll get many answers here!

Don't remove the stock protector until it's necessary. The screen is plastic and the protector is made specifically for it. Most protectors coming out now had little or no testing. Wait for the ones that are verified as suitable replacements, unless you have no choice.
That said, a lot of the film ones actually do work stacked directly on the stock protector to keep it a little cleaner and allow for replacing them without risk to the screen.

Thinking of coating mine in a liquid protector, I had it on my Note 9 and never got a single scratch on it, curious if the folding will somehow weaken it
