Its been a while (a long while) since I messed with my android unit and the last update I did was going from android 6 to hal9k rom using the mod installed pro I bought from his site.
My unit is one of those that has the sd card slot but doesnt work for booting to update.
I know that I may pay 11EUR (I have the discount since I purchase it once) and get the mod installer pro 2 and with that, boot to recovery for android 9 or 10
But since I have time (will take the unit out of my car to sell it, cause I am replacing with a UIS7862 one) on my bench, what is a proper guide on how I can do that?
I imagine my only option (without paying) would be the OTG? I may have the cable somewhere since I bricked my unit more than once in the past.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks,
My Unit is old af (came with android 6) so it doest have OTG via usb.
I unbricked using OTG with cable directly on the SOM so I think this will be only option aside from modinstalller.

more info and pictures on this thread http :// forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/heard-2016-honda-pilot-android-based-t3141346/page9
what i could do for the moment :
Open the unit
discover an hidden usb port
connect to pc via that port
install adb + android studio (sdk)
I need to install specific driver with this http :// forum.xda-developers.com /showthread.php?t=1119507
Active USB debug mode (don't stay crossed on each reboot you have to activeted again)
Now i can connect with adb + pc
As you can not use an apk, i try to root it (via windows 7 32 bits) via SRS one click 5.1 But no luck (failed)
retry with oneclick Android one toolkit 1.2.1 but stuck on loading recovery
Anyone have a good idea ?

Hi Fred,
The purpose of XDA Assist is to help newbies navigate the site.
It looks like you found a good thread for support here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/heard-2016-honda-pilot-android-based-t3141346/page9
For discussion about android head units you can also check out this section: Android auto.
Good luck

Just wondering if anyone has a copy of TWRP that will work on the PX5?
I see this thread has some but not in the resolution 1024x600 we are after.
Also would need a copy of the original recovery to reflash if MCU updates were required.
Has anyone sucessfully got into booloader mode on the Xtrons TB706APL? Can the normal USB connections connect or does one have to be solderered to MB?

Yes "Loader Mode". You have a GS board - youre in luck!
see my thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...tions-development/px5-stuck-bootloop-t3635412
1. Modified the board as follows:
A. Desolder and lift pins 27 & 28 of USB hub GL850 (thanks to xda user @ikerg and 4pda - for the lead)
B. Solder Male USB a cable to GS board USB 1 connections (details to follow)
C. Remove pin to RK PX5 SOM [ctl_recovery]
D. Solder a wire directly on PX5 SOM header on [ctl_recovery]. This wire is used to trigger recovery........
Full process in thread.

Hey guys,
The title says it all. When trying to flash ROMs, I get an error saying= assert failed: update_dynamic_partitions(package_extract_file("dynamic_partitions_op_list")) E:error in /mnt/usb_storage/update.zip (status 7) Installation aborted.
Recovery version: HCT 10.3.0 rockchip/rk3368/rk336810/QQ2A.200305.004.A1/hct206241158userdebug/test-keys
PX5 Head Unit 4GB Ram Android 10 HCT the latest
I have 5 people and a couple of friends from XDA suffering from the same problem. We all have px5 devices that were originally android 8.0.0, which we updated to android 10 using ModInstaller Pro.
The ROMs we are trying to flash are updated HCT ROMs(stock), Malaysk or VIVID. All exhibit the same problem.
I had an idea to remove the assert update_dynamic_partitions(package_extract_file("dynamic_partitions_op_list")) from updater.script but I don't know what it does really. Dynamic partitions are a new thing for me. We do not have OTG support so if it gets bricked its game over.
Steps followed: Format Usb flash drive with fat32 filesystem (I tried 2 tested and working ones, one new).
Put update.zip in it.
Boot the head unit and click wipe data and install when it pops up.
We always get the same error.
Any help is truly appreciated.

There are threads for paid roms and support via the mod, what does the developer suggest when approached for paid support.
If paid app fails and developer is unable to support, have free, factory methods such as OTG been tried.
Also, this isn't software development, requesting mod moves to q&a forum.
Hello. I put android 10 on my old console. Everything is fine except wifi. My device has an RTL8189EVT chip. Is it possible to compile the driver for Android 10 somehow? Found a device for sale (Allwinner H313 Quad Core Android 10.0 Smart TV Box X96 S400 2.4G RTL8189). It's on android 10 and with such WiFi. Will you be able to transfer the drivers?
