If you boot in engineering mode, which is by holding volume down, you can see it is running Android 2.3.6 .
Ssearch XDA for Daxian G20 and see the root agony.
If you can root this, please let me know.
The problem with it is that it is not flashable, because it seems to shut down the com port.
There are some forums discussing there are points to solder, I did not find them after peeling my sticker under the battery.
Please let me know if you pull it off to root it
Unfortunrtly, I can't root this phone (yet ). I'm newbie in Android world, so I'm still learning.
I made scatter file, but phone cant connect when is turned off.
Actually, it connect with PC, and appears in device manager (under Ports) for 3-4 seconds, and then disconnect
Tried with Win 7 (64) and Win XP (32), but nothing... completely same thing.
There are no points to solder (under the sticker), but i found some contacts. There's a place for 3 pins, but one on the right side is empty hole (red circle on the picture).

I hope that first one, who root this phone, will let us know

There are two options that I know of that might work:
1. You are able to somehow create a properly signed update.zip with a patched recovery or boot img with root files
2. You find the connection points on the phone that need to be connected to boot in proper flash mode.
I tried all other stuff I could find to no avail.
china-phone.ru forums have some posts about those points. not for our phone, but for similar ones.
I hope you will pull it off. please post if you do .
Ok, I managed to find the two points that need to be connected for the Daxian G20.
You need to open up the phone, it is under the small round battery. The two at the upper left.
I was then able to flash recovery.
tough luck and a bit of stupidity : i have no backup.
Took a chance by flashing the recovery and boor.img of another phone.
It is not a brick yet, but I need the original firmware.
Can anyone who was able to make this mod too please dump it?
I might be able to fix a modded recovery then and if someone knows how, sign it properly.
cheers

I managed to get flash access, but was so stupid to try another recovery and boot.img.
So don't do that!
You can get dump and flash access by opening up the phone, and connect the two left of 6 points under de small round battery in the top.
there is tx1 or something and ground.
Then use SP tool 3.224 or something and your pc will find another com port, which will allow flashing.
But: dump the recovery and all other partitions firtst!
If you get this far. please dump boot.img and recovery.img .
Then I can get my phone running and I will try patching the recovery.img.
Or if you succeed, please post patched recovery and boot.img
thanks
Unfortunately, these days I do not have much time, but, you do a great job :good:
Just to confirm: I have to connect this two points (red arrows on the picture)?

Edit: I did not read carefully - now I'm confused: Which "two left of 6 points" ?

Hi,
Awesome that you have this phone too .
I am pretty surprised, you do not seem to have the points.
Do you have the Daxian G20(+) ?
The point you circled are much smaller.
They are 6 grouped like : : : that.
They are a few millimeters and they are right under the round battery that is still visible on your picture just next to what you marked.
Can you try and peel off that battery and look under it?
Be carefull for the wires, but it is very doable by putting a screw driver just around the sides gently, or better some small plastic thing to avoid short circuit.
Please let me know if they are there .
good luck!
update: scatter file looks similar as mine. same address for recovery.
Man I hope you succeed and are able to make a dump .
I found only 1 russian guy that has it rooted, but he has not responded to my request.
My phone is just Daxian G20 (without +)
I found it, as you said, under the small round battery (I used wooden toothpicks)
h.ttp://postimage.org/image/9wxif67b5/
My soldering iron is 60W so I must found another way to make connection
And, I did not see Tx1
Till now, I was followed tutorial (h.ttp://w.ww.mediafire.com/view/?8mxvy0ey5yfdu59), which i found here (on this forum),
untill scater.txt. If I make this work, i should make read back for bootimg and recovery.img, and send this files to you?
I mean, until this step is safe for now?
As I said, I am newbie in Android world

Great! It is the two left most of the six pins that need to be connected.
You could either use a pencil, or some silver paper, just be carefull with other connections .
I soldered two wires on it, because you need to disconnected the points to be able to boot the phone.
Maybe it is not tx1 but something similar .
The other point is ground, so it has quite a large copper plate probably.
I just held the soldering iron quite a bit longer and used some flux and I was able to get it soldered.
Not sure about how many watt that thing was, but maybe more then yours; you can just give it a try.
Or maybe pencil is the easiest .
You would really make me very happy if you can read back those files indeed .
I'll just flash them and see if my phone boots .
All steps are pretty safe, just make sure you do not write to any of the partitions untill you have a proper backup.
Once those points are connected it should be easy, I do believe you still need the battery attached, mine loses connection other wise.
I am the perfect test case for the recovery.img and boot.img.
Once those work and my phone boots I will make a full backup as well (if I read how ).
Then we can try to start rooting !
I attached a picture with the points marked to connect.
I am eagerly awaiting those dumps .
small addition : writing is being done by the download button : so do not be misled .
It will actually flash the phone.
You need the readback option.
good luck!
This two points (pins) are GND and something like TXD1
h.ttp://postimage.org/image/prp6yf8f1/
h.ttp://postimage.org/image/8pf19306j/
When I was connected this two pins and attach USB cable, Win7 was install new driver - Android USB ethernet/RNDIS.
h.ttp://postimage.org/image/w4ftp0vaz/
Same is with or without battery. Read back did not start
Without this two pins connected, apears MediaTek PreLoader just for few seconds

Good! almost there .
When the pins are connected, you should also see a com port.
Perhaps you need to reinstall the drivers?
There are drivers for different modes, you need them all.
For me I needed the battery to be connected to get the port to stick.
So procedure: connect usb cable to phone, not pc - press read mode on sp tools - connect battery - connect usb cable to pc .
I also use Windows XP, because it gives you a lot less headache, especially in terms of com ports.
Make sure you enabled all rights and removed all restrictions.
Be careful with virusscanners, the usually demolish the flash tools and exploit tools.
If you need any help, just post .
This is strange - when i connect pins, i can't see COM port
And driver install itself without battery (Android USB ethernet/RNDIS).
When I put the battery, nothing changes - COM port does not appear !?
Tomorrow i will solder wires on this pins, and try again with XP.
You've already helped a lot, and I hope that we will make both phones rooted :good:

mmm, that is strange. Perhaps you need to deinstall that driver? by heart, you need MTK 6575 serial port driver, and two more.
Without battery, for my phone I keeps seeing a com port coming and disappearing in XP.
When I connect the battery, the com port (com10) keeps being visible.
Without connecting the points, I only see another com port, com 7.
Do you first connect the battery and then the usb cable?
Not sure if it matters, but that's what I do.
You also helped a lot, also other people who will read this when they bought this hard-to-root phone .
Ok, good luck, I will keep an eye on my email for updates
I attached the drivers for your convenience.
I would deinstall the NDIS one if you see it.
then install those files, also the mtk one.
good luck!

that's looking good!
Should be allright.
If it works or not, your are the man anyhow !
I am off to the basement to the phone pieces and will report back soon
---------- Post added at 06:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:13 PM ----------
partial success!
I am able to boot in to recovery now, but booting the phone or booting engineering mode does not work.
Can you post your full scatter file and perhaps dump the full rom you are running?
Would be awesome! Don't forget to remove your personal stuff.
I am fiddling now and looking for Android Kitchen tools to try and mod the recovery .
Thanks a bunch!
i made a cwm that boots.
it's attached.
I cannot mount my SD card and stuff, so not sure if i need another cwm base.
You can try it if you want.
Just make sure you only flash recovery!
Then you can always go back to the original.
When this works, you can flash a root.zip and you should have root.
My wire is loose now, so I am off soldering ...
[update] : please wait, seems like an issue in the recovery.
I just reflashed original which does read sd.
I am off working and hoping you can dump that rom
[update2]
Ok! The recovery attached now should be able to flash unsigned stuff .
You need up/down and power to operate.
Pretty cool .
Now I can root my phone, it just does not boot .
There might be an issue with that boot.img.
It would be great to se the full dump, hopefully my phone will boot again...
h.ttp://rapidshare.com/files/709841244/firm_scat.zip
firmware.info and MT6575_Android_scatter.txt
Jus tell me how, and i will dump full rom
I followed the instructions of the yuweng (h.ttp://www.mediafire.com/view/?8mxvy0ey5yfdu59) and made a new recovery.img - but i didn't try yet
Its been a while (a long while) since I messed with my android unit and the last update I did was going from android 6 to hal9k rom using the mod installed pro I bought from his site.
My unit is one of those that has the sd card slot but doesnt work for booting to update.
I know that I may pay 11EUR (I have the discount since I purchase it once) and get the mod installer pro 2 and with that, boot to recovery for android 9 or 10
But since I have time (will take the unit out of my car to sell it, cause I am replacing with a UIS7862 one) on my bench, what is a proper guide on how I can do that?
I imagine my only option (without paying) would be the OTG? I may have the cable somewhere since I bricked my unit more than once in the past.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks,
My Unit is old af (came with android 6) so it doest have OTG via usb.
I unbricked using OTG with cable directly on the SOM so I think this will be only option aside from modinstalller.
