Question [Official] Lineage OS 20 Finally gets Micro G build - Google Pixel 7 Pro

https://download.lineage.microg.org/cheetah/ and will supposably have 2 updates per month. Works pretty well. Snappier than Calyx OS too. Same overall features though. You can use youtube if you like or youtube tv as well(as long as you turn on location services under permissions, contacts, and microphone to get youtube tv to work). Signature spoofing is also capable on this version of Lineage OS.
I did not make this rom. Just something I discovered myself hoping that they would one day support lineage os microg for Pixel 7 Pro! This is the official microg lineage build and not something some random user created.

Man, been hanging for this
Is there any dedicated tread and who is building?

Thanks.

Does Android Auto work? The status page seems to think it "may" work if you install the apk as privileged. Anyone tested?

What does microg allow?

OnePlus 6 without Google services?

Hi,
Like many people I don't trust Google.
They censor people, they remove websites from their rankings, they fire people for political beliefs, they track everybody, and of course their google play services app is capable of recording everything about you.
Is it possible to create a ROM for the OnePlus 6 that is without Google services?
How much of google can be stripped away at the ROM level?
How much of Android is necessary closed source from google?
Thanks.

I think you may have chosen the wrong phone to avoid the prying eyes of google. I think that the services are directly integrated into the functions of everything in the system (with the exception of maybe play services as some phones are without play store). Certainly if i'm wrong, someone correct me. Good luck. :fingers-crossed:

But isn't there a version of Android (AOSP) that doesn't have the google spyware?

Although Lineage for MicroG has not been released yet, you can run HavocOS which is a Lineage based ROM that includes the "spoof patch" and flash MicroG instead of an OpenGapps package.
Please note that the micro edition of Gapps is not the same thing as MicroG. MicroG contains no Google blobs and you cannot use the Play Store or other apps that require Google Play Services. You will need to use Fdroid, YALP, etc to install and update packages.
Another alternative is to use HavocOS or any other LOS based ROM with the "pico" version of OpenGapps which contains the bare minimum required to use the Play Store. This is what I'm doing currently and it works well while reducing Googles presence on your phone. OpenGapps are based on AOSP code, so there are still binary blobs. (not really open-source as the name implies.)
Hydrogen os , exact same as oos but without Google. Have a look in roms etc
Was about to say Hydrogen Os.
I am a flashaholic. I only flash roms in my home because i have everything i need to repair in case of need.
So, flash a new rom, connect to WIFI, login to google. Surprise !!!... "Google does not recognise this device".... Same device. On the same router, connection, house.
BS "security"...
Hydrogen OS, but then you may be dealing with Chinese government spyware. Pick your poison.

De-google my Phone! Need advice and tutorials....

Hi Guys,
I have a OnePlus 6 (oxygenOs rooted) and am very satisfied so far. I've been extremely bothered recently by google and Facebook and Instagram tracking us, thats why I want to de-googling my Oneplus 6. I am not a professional and would like to ask you for help. I did some research on the internet and read a lot about LineageOs and MicroG. I also tried / e / rom and some apps don't work without google services like Line and some apps.
Is there a manual somewhere where I can de-googgle my cell phone and all apps work as with google? I would prefer to lead on oxygen OS or hyrogenOs if these apps would work without google services.
I would be very happy about your tips.
Thanks in advance
greetings

you have to get microG, if you go on their post you will have enought info (and app)
there Is also a magisk module for microG
and an unofficial zip installer (that I suggest, since It could replace Gapps keeping the most of google funtionality)
anyway a lot of google stufs could not work
contact and calendar there are a lot of post discussing
pay, search, assistant, discovery, maps, autofill, maybe netflix
some of them could be easily replaced, others no way...
and, It could be preferible run microG on a gapp-free rom, as omni, syberia, crDroid, etc

but not have signature spoofing. I like this rom cause i like the ui and can run paralel apps.
So there is no possibility to run microG with oxy or hdyrogen os? I need Line app.
If you know a solution would be nice if you can post a link.

Hydrogen nowadays Is Google free, but it is designer for china market (there are other services inside, at the end It Is worse)
There are also app to make parallel space (i used Island in the cast)
but there are also different client for the most common apps, so you can simply use 2 of them on the same phone account
(example WhatsApp + FMWhatsApp, maybe cloud backup will not work, so it's up to you ti select the best way they fit your needs)
You have to make experiments by your own, because you only can check what is the best option for your usage

I have a Hydrogen phone and i first wanted to change it to oxygen but after some tweaking it's going well.
First install feem : file transfer program works on every os ... http://feem.io ...it has some advertising but the best there is.
i've got rit of all the chinese software on the phone.
installed a new gui ... nova http://novalauncher.com/
installed acmarket : another market not associated with google.
now you can still install google software if you want to.
i even deleted the chinese browser and
mmm ... ok deleting chinese browser... but pay attention with alternative store
official apps in the PlayStore some times have malware or they sold your data to thirthies...
i wont immagine what can happend on a store where "common people" contributes on It...
let say, Google can make mistakes, anyway it's better than not checking at all... (it"'s a general discussion, i don't know feem in details)
You also are able to use Lineage OS and just don't install Google Apps. There you go. There is also F-Droid as a source for apps.

How to debug AOSP keyboard not swiping?

Hi! I recently installed LineageOS 18.1 nightly on my new OnePlus 8 (instantnoodle). After a few false starts and missteps I have it working and I'm trying to move everything over to it. I quickly discovered that the keyboard doesn't support swiping. I thought LineageOS supported it out of the box on my previous phone (a Moto G running LineageOS 14.1) but after doing some research I see that it requires Google services, namely a specific file called `libjni_latinimegoogle.so`. However, when I was doing this installation, I also installed Open Gapps nano. (Due to https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/issues/930, I had to disable installation of `Search` using gapps-config.txt.) Indeed, when I shell onto the phone, I see that `/system/lib64/libjni_latinimegoogle.so` is present. And yet swiping isn't working.
How can I figure out what's going wrong? I have some Linux experience but not that much with Android. Are there log messages I should be looking for? When does this `libjni` get loaded? Is this a Oneplus issue? A LineageOS issue? An OpenGapps issue? Where do I even start?
P.S. I know I could install Gboard from the Play store, and I might do that, but I was used to AOSP keyboard and if it ain't broke, why fix it? Besides, where's the fun in that?
If you install a custom recovery or root your phone then you can use this: https://android.stackexchange.com/q...-input-on-fairphone-2-without-google-keyboard to include swipe typing on the AOSP keyboard.
It involves extracting a file from a Gapps package, libjni_latinimegoogle.so, which needs to be put in /system/lib64 (or /system/lib if you have a 32 bit OS). You don't even need to have any form of Google apps (GSF) installed. I just tested it on Android 11 and it works well.
An open source alternative is AnySoftKeyboard which contains swipe typing (or "swyping") but it is quite a bit less accurate since it's not based on machine learning methods. This is an open issue however. It is also taken up in the MicroG project (to create an open source libjni_latinimegoogle.so).

Microg (on LOS) and galaxy watch 4

Hi, I've recently installed LOS 18.1 for MicroG. All is fine but I can't get my galaxy watch 4 to work with it; I can't get it to finish the pairing with the Galaxy Wearable app.
I've been looking around and found very little information about this.
Is it known not to work or is there something extra I need to do?
Some more info about the setup:
a) MicroG has enabled:
1. Google device registration
2. Cloud messaging
3. Location modules (mozzilla and nominatim)
b) but has disable:
1. Google safetyNet
2. No google account is logged in
c) All the self-check are checked
Thank you for your support.
Have you solved this? I have the exact same issue but i have a google account logged in. This is the only thing holding me back from removing GAPPS.

No, I have not found a solution. My watch has been off since I made I switch.
It's a little sad that no one has answered at all to my post.
Also having the same issue, on LOS 20 with MicroG... it looks like I might have to give up microG... too many things not working as expected
I had massive issues authenticating earlier as well, since my Google account kept defaulting to 2 factor.
To answer my own question and since people keep coming back to this thread I thought to give some info:
You can find the state of the MicroG API here -> https://github.com/microg/GmsCore/wiki/Implementation-Status
In our case we should look at the API for wearable. As of today 20th of April 2023, the status is "No functionality is implemented at all".
Additionally there's a bounty to add support for the wearable API. You could tip in if you would like someone to work on it. You can find this here -> https://github.com/microg/GmsCore/issues/4
So to my original question: there's nothing that can be done about wearables with MicroG. It is known not to work as the community hasn't had resources to work on reimplementing this part of the API.

[APP][NO ROOT][SHARE] Modded MicroG for Huawei Devices

Hello friends, here is something I found to solve the lack of Google Play Services in modern Huawei devices. Credits go to the developer, not me, and to the original MicroG developers, I just want to share this solution to help people having the same issue.
MicroG is an open source software replacement for Google Play Services, and it requires root, Magisk, Xposed or in-built signature spoofing patch to work, but not this time.
I used this method as soon as I found it, since both of my parents got a Huawei P40 Lite E, and I couldn't use Googlefier because of the updated firmware.
No need of virtualized environments like GSpace, Gbox and other similar methods, now you can simply login into your Google Account without the need of installing other packages.
This solution is based on the YouTube Vanced-dedicated derivative of MicroG, called Vanced MicroG indeed, and it requires no root and no other packages to work.
Simply install this app, called GMSCoreHuawei (don't use the "unpatched" version, but the HUAWEI one), then Play Store apk from official sources like ApkMirror:
GitHub - jcchikikomori/GmsCoreHuawei: Attempt to support Free implementation of Play Services for HUAWEI devices

Download Google Play Store APKs for Android - APKMirror Free and safe Android APK downloads
www.apkmirror.com
Login in MicroG using the Huawei button, give the necessary MicroG permissions for notifications and you're done
I didn't test on other devices, but I think also other De-Googlefied ones or users with problems in installing MicroG using other methods can manage to use this solution.
I tested Play Store downloads and Google Maps and some apps like Gboard or Opera browser requiring GMS to work fine, and I got no problems so far.
Maybe the developer of this version of MicroG will see this thread and further update this app to match official MicroG progress.
Thanks to him again for the amazing job, which will save much time and efforts to many users wanting to enable the Google ecosystem on their devices.

The developer discontinued further work on this project because it did not allow access to personalized functional gapps. He abandoned this project in his github page. Yes some Google and Android apps work regardless of GMS authenticity like maps or Chrome. I can confirm that this method will not work in harmony os mate Xs2.

Hi, my experience is on EMUI 10 and I used this apk:
https://github.com/jcchikikomori/GmsCoreHuawei/releases/download/v0.2.22.212658-HUAWEI/play-services-core-withMapbox-withNearby-release.apk
I logged in using the HUAWEI button, gave ALL the required permissions in MicroG settings and then Play Store apk downloaded from Apkmirror worked without issues, and so Maps and other Google apps.
There are some 3rd party apps still not recognizing it as a replacement of GMS, but I can manage that.
If the apk or other versions don't work for you, you can still try an older MicroG variant built from EloyGomez, here the source code:

I also used that once, it works in the same way and successfully, I remember having discovered it casually in a YouTube video and also I've seen it in Android Hilfe forum (translate button necessary).
Alternatively, you can try this method using regular MicroG, but I don't know if it's still working and it's not tested by me:

I assumed you might be on Emui 11 or 12 since the device is P40 lite. I know those MicroG forks and googlefier work on Emui 10 and I do not want to downgrade my firmware.
Recently there is new microG fork called 'lighthouse' which is currently only available for Huawei Malaysia region and support Emui 12.
Since I saw this I been looking around internet to see someone else has figured out a way for GMS services to work on newer Huawei devices.
The lighthouse app seems working like a native gms and people are loving it on their new mate50 devices.
I am afraid of the firmware downgrade for Emui 12 to 11 and then to 10 since it can cause some update issues and risk of device bricking.
If you have done the downgrade and seems it was easy work, would you mind sharing the methods you followed ?
Thank you so much in advance
The Huawei phone I worked with is a P40 Lite E, not P40 Lite, and Huawei didn't update it further than EMUI 10 but simply patched it so it no longer can use Googlefier, and i didn't downgrade the device to EMUI 9 (yet).
Anyway, I found some time ago on YouTube an older version of Huawei HiSuite still letting me use the downgrade/rollback option, as long as it is not updated.
Backup everything first, if you want to try, maybe that option is applicable for you also.
Let me know about it if you do it.
I'll attach the file here (unzip it once downloaded), because I can't remember the video, I found it some months ago and downloaded the file right away.
I'll edit or delete the post in case some moderator tells me it's not allowed.

Hi, I cannot be of much help in this case since I do not have a device shipping with Harmony OS, but I think this video can be somewhat useful, let me know if you're successful in case you decide to try this method:
@crcblz you can also try this, if you want, I'm pretty sure there's Private Space option also in Harmony OS (I would have used this guide, but the Lite E device doesn't support Private Space at all).

Just updating you, I found the time to make the final step and used HiSuite to make a backup of apps and files in my dad's P40 Lite E, and downgrade its firmware to EMUI 9. After that I installed the first OTA update of the phone to upgrade to an EMUI 10 version before the one Huawei applied the patch to, so I could use Googlefier without any issue.
The HiSuite version I posted here didn't let me install the downgraded firmware, so I let it update automatically to the official HiSuite 11.0.0.650_OVE version first and that worked just fine for the rollback (strangely enough, after that it didn't ask me to update to the latest V13.0.0.310 on the official HiSuite website, but it is better this way).
This short video also helped me in forcing Googlefier to work in the earliest steps.
Also make sure you follow Googlefier instructions exactly step by step, every detail of them is to be executed to the letter, every time you restart the device you have to open LZPlay first, without pressing any button of that app, and then you get back to Googlefier using the home button, so it can track the steps you do in installing GMS.
Edit:
After a few days I kept receiving Play Protect notification, so I tried using this official Google website to register my device, to no avail.

After registering the device I cleared Google Play Store, Google Play Services and Google Services Framework data, and in Notifications section of Google Play Services appeared a new setting, called Play Protect. I disabled it and I got no more annoying notifications about uncertified device.
Unfortunately, after some more days, every Google app I tried to use suddendly reported the "Device is not Play Protect Certified" screen, preventing me from using all of them.
So, sick of this situation, I completely uninstalled GMS except Google Account Manager (which contains the Google account I need on the phone) and I came back to MicroG, but at least the official version, since the account it's already on the device, and it's more updated than Huawei modded versions (their only advantage is that they add the ability to login successfully on Google on their own on Huawei devices).
And since I still don't know how to apply the signature spoofing patch on a completely stock, locked and unrooted device like Huawei is forced to be, and I don't trust the tons of modified Google Play Services apks on the web, I had to use PWAs for a couple of apps my parents needed, since they didn't recognize MicroG as the official GMS.
Play Store and Maps still work, but I had to replace Gmail and Google Calendar with open source alternatives, there are good replacements both on Play Store and on F-Droid (K-9 Mail, for example, has a pretty simple UI very similar to the Gmail one, and supports Google Accounts).
So, in the end I partially won the battle (and I got to the same point I was when I wrote OP) but not completely, since some apps force you to have official GMS or MicroG with signature spoofing patch enabled in order to be used, so alternatives or PWAs are needed.

The MicroG I linked in OP works for Maps and Gmail, I can confirm, at least for EMUI 10. I don't have a Harmony OS device so I can't test on that.
does not install the microg Huawei on my mate20
Hey, I just passed through this thread.
I'm not a programmer, nor do I own a Huawei phone, but I can give some ideas to someone smarter than me.
Maybe one could do something similar to ReVanced. You see, ReVanced has it's own manager, to which you "upload" a sideloaded app, f.e. YouTube, and you can add patches to it. One of them is the addition of microG support. After you patch the app, a forked version of the app will install with different code name (original has com.google. ..., forked has app.revanced. ...). So, maybe someone smarter than me could do something like this, some sort of a manager which makes forked versions of G-apps with microG support. Of course, this wouldn't work with services which cannot properly function without GMS, like the Play Store, but for most G-apps, something like this could work, but that's just me spewing some ideas into the void...

Here the apk found on another XDA thread
31.13 MB file on MEGA
mega.nz
I also used that once, it works in the same way and successfully, I remember having discovered it casually in a YouTube video and also I've seen it in Android Hilfe forum (translate button necessary).
Alternatively, you can try this method using regular MicroG, but I don't know if it's still working and it's not tested by me:

Let me know how it goes.
