[APP][NO ROOT][SHARE] Modded MicroG for Huawei Devices - Android General
Hello friends, here is something I found to solve the lack of Google Play Services in modern Huawei devices. Credits go to the developer, not me, and to the original MicroG developers, I just want to share this solution to help people having the same issue.
MicroG is an open source software replacement for Google Play Services, and it requires root, Magisk, Xposed or in-built signature spoofing patch to work, but not this time.
I used this method as soon as I found it, since both of my parents got a Huawei P40 Lite E, and I couldn't use Googlefier because of the updated firmware.
No need of virtualized environments like GSpace, Gbox and other similar methods, now you can simply login into your Google Account without the need of installing other packages.
This solution is based on the YouTube Vanced-dedicated derivative of MicroG, called Vanced MicroG indeed, and it requires no root and no other packages to work.
Simply install this app, called GMSCoreHuawei (don't use the "unpatched" version, but the HUAWEI one), then Play Store apk from official sources like ApkMirror:

Download Google Play Store APKs for Android - APKMirror Free and safe Android APK downloads
www.apkmirror.com
Login in MicroG using the Huawei button, give the necessary MicroG permissions for notifications and you're done
I didn't test on other devices, but I think also other De-Googlefied ones or users with problems in installing MicroG using other methods can manage to use this solution.
I tested Play Store downloads and Google Maps and some apps like Gboard or Opera browser requiring GMS to work fine, and I got no problems so far.
Maybe the developer of this version of MicroG will see this thread and further update this app to match official MicroG progress.
Thanks to him again for the amazing job, which will save much time and efforts to many users wanting to enable the Google ecosystem on their devices.

The developer discontinued further work on this project because it did not allow access to personalized functional gapps. He abandoned this project in his github page. Yes some Google and Android apps work regardless of GMS authenticity like maps or Chrome. I can confirm that this method will not work in harmony os mate Xs2.

I couldn't get this work on my P40 5G.
I am able to login inside the microg app but asks login again in the playstore.
Can you please specify how did you manage to get it working and which particular version of the microG app did you use ?
I used Patched v0.2.22.212658 on Emui 12

Hi, my experience is on EMUI 10 and I used this apk:
https://github.com/jcchikikomori/GmsCoreHuawei/releases/download/v0.2.22.212658-HUAWEI/play-services-core-withMapbox-withNearby-release.apk
I logged in using the HUAWEI button, gave ALL the required permissions in MicroG settings and then Play Store apk downloaded from Apkmirror worked without issues, and so Maps and other Google apps.
There are some 3rd party apps still not recognizing it as a replacement of GMS, but I can manage that.
If the apk or other versions don't work for you, you can still try an older MicroG variant built from EloyGomez, here the source code:

Here the apk found on another XDA thread
31.13 MB file on MEGA

I also used that once, it works in the same way and successfully, I remember having discovered it casually in a YouTube video and also I've seen it in Android Hilfe forum (translate button necessary).
Alternatively, you can try this method using regular MicroG, but I don't know if it's still working and it's not tested by me:

I assumed you might be on Emui 11 or 12 since the device is P40 lite. I know those MicroG forks and googlefier work on Emui 10 and I do not want to downgrade my firmware.
Recently there is new microG fork called 'lighthouse' which is currently only available for Huawei Malaysia region and support Emui 12.
Since I saw this I been looking around internet to see someone else has figured out a way for GMS services to work on newer Huawei devices.
The lighthouse app seems working like a native gms and people are loving it on their new mate50 devices.
I am afraid of the firmware downgrade for Emui 12 to 11 and then to 10 since it can cause some update issues and risk of device bricking.
If you have done the downgrade and seems it was easy work, would you mind sharing the methods you followed ?
Thank you so much in advance
The Huawei phone I worked with is a P40 Lite E, not P40 Lite, and Huawei didn't update it further than EMUI 10 but simply patched it so it no longer can use Googlefier, and i didn't downgrade the device to EMUI 9 (yet).
Anyway, I found some time ago on YouTube an older version of Huawei HiSuite still letting me use the downgrade/rollback option, as long as it is not updated.
Backup everything first, if you want to try, maybe that option is applicable for you also.
Let me know about it if you do it.
I'll attach the file here (unzip it once downloaded), because I can't remember the video, I found it some months ago and downloaded the file right away.
I'll edit or delete the post in case some moderator tells me it's not allowed.

Hi, I cannot be of much help in this case since I do not have a device shipping with Harmony OS, but I think this video can be somewhat useful, let me know if you're successful in case you decide to try this method:
@crcblz you can also try this, if you want, I'm pretty sure there's Private Space option also in Harmony OS (I would have used this guide, but the Lite E device doesn't support Private Space at all).
[GUIDE] Add google account if you accidentally deleted it - EMUI 12.0.0.276
Hello, I just found out how to add google account if you accidentally delete it, you can also delete the updated google play services to install version 21.24.57. You can also uninstall google services framework and install on old version...

Just updating you, I found the time to make the final step and used HiSuite to make a backup of apps and files in my dad's P40 Lite E, and downgrade its firmware to EMUI 9. After that I installed the first OTA update of the phone to upgrade to an EMUI 10 version before the one Huawei applied the patch to, so I could use Googlefier without any issue.
The HiSuite version I posted here didn't let me install the downgraded firmware, so I let it update automatically to the official HiSuite 11.0.0.650_OVE version first and that worked just fine for the rollback (strangely enough, after that it didn't ask me to update to the latest V13.0.0.310 on the official HiSuite website, but it is better this way).
This short video also helped me in forcing Googlefier to work in the earliest steps.
Also make sure you follow Googlefier instructions exactly step by step, every detail of them is to be executed to the letter, every time you restart the device you have to open LZPlay first, without pressing any button of that app, and then you get back to Googlefier using the home button, so it can track the steps you do in installing GMS.
Edit:
After a few days I kept receiving Play Protect notification, so I tried using this official Google website to register my device, to no avail.
After registering the device I cleared Google Play Store, Google Play Services and Google Services Framework data, and in Notifications section of Google Play Services appeared a new setting, called Play Protect. I disabled it and I got no more annoying notifications about uncertified device.
Unfortunately, after some more days, every Google app I tried to use suddendly reported the "Device is not Play Protect Certified" screen, preventing me from using all of them.
So, sick of this situation, I completely uninstalled GMS except Google Account Manager (which contains the Google account I need on the phone) and I came back to MicroG, but at least the official version, since the account it's already on the device, and it's more updated than Huawei modded versions (their only advantage is that they add the ability to login successfully on Google on their own on Huawei devices).
And since I still don't know how to apply the signature spoofing patch on a completely stock, locked and unrooted device like Huawei is forced to be, and I don't trust the tons of modified Google Play Services apks on the web, I had to use PWAs for a couple of apps my parents needed, since they didn't recognize MicroG as the official GMS.
Play Store and Maps still work, but I had to replace Gmail and Google Calendar with open source alternatives, there are good replacements both on Play Store and on F-Droid (K-9 Mail, for example, has a pretty simple UI very similar to the Gmail one, and supports Google Accounts).
So, in the end I partially won the battle (and I got to the same point I was when I wrote OP) but not completely, since some apps force you to have official GMS or MicroG with signature spoofing patch enabled in order to be used, so alternatives or PWAs are needed.

Hey, I just passed through this thread.
I'm not a programmer, nor do I own a Huawei phone, but I can give some ideas to someone smarter than me.
Maybe one could do something similar to ReVanced. You see, ReVanced has it's own manager, to which you "upload" a sideloaded app, f.e. YouTube, and you can add patches to it. One of them is the addition of microG support. After you patch the app, a forked version of the app will install with different code name (original has com.google. ..., forked has app.revanced. ...). So, maybe someone smarter than me could do something like this, some sort of a manager which makes forked versions of G-apps with microG support. Of course, this wouldn't work with services which cannot properly function without GMS, like the Play Store, but for most G-apps, something like this could work, but that's just me spewing some ideas into the void...

Advice for a new owner
I've taken the plunge and pre-ordered my P40 Pro which should arrive in a few days. I have done some reading around as to whether to go GMS-naked or not and have a few questions still to help make my decision, hoping someone can help... 1) I currently have a Mate Pro 20, so I would be looking to clone my apps over. My understanding is that I can expect the vast majority of them to copy over (even if not on Huawei's AppGallery) but if I was to go GMS-naked, am I right in thinking that these apps would then never update (unless they are on AppGallery)? 2) Without installing GMS, is there any way of getting Chrome working? I use it as my browser on my tablet and desktop and it's helpful to have that sync so would really ideally like it on my phone. 3) Same as question 2 but regarding Google Suite apps such as Sheets and Docs - any hope in getting them without GMS? 4) I have read some positive reviews regarding BlueMail, is it possible to use this for Gmail accounts without GMS? 5) Without GMS, will UK banking apps only work if already on AppGallery? I currently use Starling, First Direct & NatWest - especially the former two so hoping that they would work. 6) If I did go down the GMS route, would I need to be reinstalling it every time there is an Android or Google update or would it be a one-off?

They will not update unless you install Aurora, APKPure, Aptoide, Amazon App Store .. just install all of these and pick your favourite. Notifications wont work for most. 2. Firefox is better and can sync across devices. 3. Part of the attraction of the P40 Pro is going google-free for the challenge and to support Huawei .. I am using Office from the Huawei App Gallery. 4. Despite being on the Huawei App Gallery, BlueMail notifications were unreliable with HMS-naked ... warning message that no Google Cloud Messaging is installed .. that you had to clear evey day or two .. and people that are using BlueMail don't realise that notifications are delayed for a while. BlueMail is a bad app at the moment. 5. Banking apps .. phone-clone or install from Aurora, APKPure, Aptoide, Amazon App Store ... my banks are working fine . not too many people are reporting problems. 6. Why do you need GMS? Have they fixed notifications with a GMS install? microG is a much simpler and more reliable solution at the moment to give you notifications and you can still get apps from Aurora, APKPure, Aptoide, Amazon App Store. If you find a reason that HMS-naked and HMS-microG are not acceptable ... and you really have to do a HMS-GMS setup, then I would not buy the P40 Pro ... just get the P30 Pro.
4. I used the stock Huawei email application. Lets you add multiple accounts (gmail/outlook) and gives you notifications without issue. I ended up preferring it to Gmail/Outlook app. 5. I don't have my P40 Pro any longer, but when I did FirstDirect app worked fine through GMS. Monzo bank did also. I downloaded NatWest and it worked but I didn't have an account so couldn't actually log in. 6. You only lose your GMS install if you factory reset. Software updates don't affect it.

I mean if you're looking for apps through app gallery there is 2 key ones I would really recommend one is MoreApps and one is Petal both of which once installed act as a hub for other apps you may need. Its one that I know I've relied on hugely. Other than that how you getting on with it?
It arrived yesterday and really it's a beautiful phone! Haven't had too much time to play with it yet but seems great. I cloned over my apps from my Mate Pro20 and had a quick play. All of my WhatsApp history seemed to automatically copy over which is great. My main issue so far is that a couple of apps I have tried to use (e.g. The Athletic) say that Google Services Installation Required in order to use them. If hey are not on AppStore, is there any way I can use them as apps without GMS? Similar question for other apps that I have cloned over such as betting apps. When I load them it says that location services must be enabled to use the app (which they are) but it doesn't eem to be picking up on this (probably GMS related?). Are More Apps & Petal a way round sourcing apps not on AppStore but without having to install GMS?

I had some success with some apps that were broken with HMS-naked, but worked successfully with HMS+microG (but I have never tried HMS+GMS as it is silly to buy a P40 Pro then hack GMS onto it .. just buy a different phone). 2. Petal is a terrible app ... it just links you to other app store .. google these well know app stores, go to their websites and get the apk for the store and then install the new store on your p40 pro .. aptoide apkpure amazon appstore f-droid aurora I have them all installed and play around with each .. they mostly have similar apps (other than amazon appstore and f-droid). dont waste your time with petal.
Thanks, I'm a total novice here so it's really helpful to get some advice. 1) Is microg relatively easy to install? Am I right in thinking that it adds a Google foundation but without GMS? Therefore, some apps from Playstore that didn't work when first cloned may then work? 2) would the benefit of those appstores be that they may have versions of apps that don't require GMS but aren't available on Huawei's Appstore? 3) One other question that I thought of... for apps that I clone over and work fine (but aren't available on Huawei's Appstore) - how will I keep them updated? I do have a Samsung tablet so would I be able to periodically clone them over from that or would I need to do something else?

I don't appear to have an issue signing into YouTube via my browser with my Google account but it appears any app that requires an email log in directly on the app (as opposed to through a browser) automatically routes me to log in via microG core services and when I then try and log in, it says that the account is already regsitered on my device (which it is but I can't seem to access it for this purpose). I'm not sure if I just did part of the process slightly wrong and if it#s worth me resetting and doing the whole process again, or if for some reason it's not possible?

Download and install apk privacy over aurora
Hi, please please please have patient with with as i’m still on iphone waiting to sell it and buy android (after @5 years on apple ecosystem) Before that, last android phone, i had note 3, rooted ... My question is about having a degoogled phone with lineageos without any google service instaled (not even aurora that, from what i understood, can be installed via fdroid and used to install play apps) and use no more google/facebook services (e.g whatsapp). The question: can i download an apk file from google store via a laptop (e.g: revolut, or other banks apps) upload them to the phone and install them? If this will work, will be privacy compromised? Is this safer than installing via aurora? Another question: lets say ill use k9 mail for my gmail account. Will this help google target my phone in any way knowing at least my phone ip ? Regards,
With Aurora ( a fork of Yalp ) app you download/update apps directly from the Google Play Store without a Google account. Aurora is open-source hence you must not fear your Android gets compromised by it. Downloading an app from 3rd-party websites - means not from Google Play Store - and installing it always carries the risk that malicious software is installed. Note: Apps may not work if you uninstall Google Play Services.

Google Play Services + Android Auto +Autofill + apps related to google location= error
Hi, On my Mate 30 Pro (4G) Lio-L29 C432 I cannot have in the same time Android Auto and Autofill with Google or apps related to google locations. I can install Google services (Googlefier or other method) and Autofill with google works (I can see my passwords). If I install Android Auto (old version), to run it needs the last version of Android Auto, and it makes update to the last one. The last version of Android Auto needs the last version of Google Play Services. The last version of Google Play Services blocks the Autofill with Google. Even it works, after restart I can not access the Passwords (error message:Unavailable because the device is offline). If I block the Google Services Framework, the Android Auto and Autofill work but apps related to google locations doesn't work anymore. Doesn`t matter the EMUI, it has the same error (EMUI 10.0 or 10.1 or 11) Do you have any solution? On my phone there are now: -EMUi11.0 .0.175(C432E7R7P4) - Android Auto v.6.1.610544 -Google Play Services 21.02.14

Easy way to install Google Services on Huawei device
Hi! I have a MediaPad Pro M5 I have spent many hours on XDA following guides to install Google Service on Huawei. Somehow neither of the method worked for me. But I managed to install Google services by accident. I almost gave up and decided to install at least a decent browser (Brave). I found the browser on APKPure. It is a kind of a third party package manager to my understanding. To install Brave I needed to install the package manager first. APKPure APK Downloader for Android Wear, Phones, Tablets, TV Download and update the latest Android™ Apps apk in APKPure, the best free Android APK Downloader online right at apkpure.com. Come and join APKPure's clan. m.apkpure.com Brave got installed, no problem. But to my surprise I could also find Youtube app on APKPure. When I installed Youtube, APKPure package manager suggested to install Google Play Store as well !!! I followed the suggestion and installed Google Play. With Google Play I could install all the other apps, I needed. * To moderators: I have registered just to post this solution, because it might be a great relieve for people who are struggling like I did. I guess I need to earn some points to post in the Huawei thread. I have no time to earn these points, so if I'm breaking the forum rules, feel free to delete this post. If you can move the post to the relevant thread, it would be even better.
Great finding!
In fact, it's known that on some well-known apk website such as apkmirror or apkpure, you can download apks for many free apps, including YouTube and Google Play Store. But please note that either apkmirror or apkpure is a third-party apk distribution website. On the other hand, if your Huawei phone, MediaPad Pro M5, does not have a built-in Google service framework, the Play Store will not work properly after you just download and install the Play Store. Does your Play Store work well?

Hi there, I have read that native Gapps core is "spying on you", so I flashed an Arrow OS without Gapps integration on my phone, and installed afterwards MicroG. Now some apps won't work, because it can't check the license (like paid Litchi app). Is a custom Firmware, with Gapps core integrated behaving the same as native one in the stock Firmware according "spying on you", or are they in general more safe then Stock ones? Thanks in advance.
MicroG is a clone of Google's proprietary core libraries and applications, means it simply provides a placeholder for many APIs Google Play Services / Google Services Framework / GMS apps are relying on. So it's not surprising that when using MicroG some GMS apps and also some 3rd-party apps won't work as expected.
