Hm, is there any chance without root?
Nope, none I've heard of at least...

I keep sensing feedback to Google about how utterly pointless it is but i suspect if the entire planet did it they wouldn't listen.
I have a module that only exists to remove this stupid thing. I agree I don't understand it's purpose other than to look ugly, take up space and possibly show off burn in smh

If using root, something like AOSP mods would be a better Magisk mod. It can get rid of the navbar, and has a **** ton of other features.

Seconded. Awesome app.
I decided to download and take a look. It's got some options I haven't seen but really made me nostalgic and miss gravitybox. I wish you could disable specific status bar icons and also animate the battery indicator when charging. I used to be able to do that and I miss it sometimes.

Except that the more complex the parts are, the greater the potential for introducing vulnerabilities. I'd recommend sticking with standalone simple changes, rather than using the very dangerous kitchen sink approach.

I appreciate the link.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look safe. There's a bunch of closed source "apk" files in this "mod" that are being added in a privileged manner and therefore have way too much access to the system to be safe.

A lot of people have been using this for a while now. It's even built into many custom ROMS. I'm sure it's not going to compromise your unlocked phone.
You can also use lawnchair launcher v12.1.0 Alpha 4, which is pretty much the stock launcher but configurable. No gestures for me. If this is not applicable to your use case forget I mentioned it ;}

"A lot of people" isn't a valid argument. Proves nothing except that "a lot of people" don't care about their security.

Is there any way to completely disable/remove the stock glass lock screen and, if so, is this safe to do? I want to completely replace my KG6 lock screen with the market app Agile Lockscreen and avoid any of the double lock screen problems I occasionally get. Any help in getting this done would be greatly appreciated, if possible.
I don't think there is a safe way to do that yet. You always need a lock screen if some sort.

Bummer. Thanks. When I was on CM, there was a way to disable the stock lockscreen in the CM Settings menu. I wonder if there's a way to implement that setting for us, or if it's something exclusive to the CM kernel or whatever.

You should read up on how to make your own lockscreen and test it out on your phone. It's not that difficult if you read up on it.
Besides what good is nandroid if you never get to use it? Nothing really bad can happen beyond recovery, with regards to lockscreen mods.
Benefits:
1. You learn a new skill
2. You contribute back to the community instead of sucking from it
3. You did it all by yourself and we're so proud of you.

I figured the knowledgeable people here could point me to apps (that require root or not) that do things that xposed used to do but now can't:
•Slide on notification bar for brightness (not an actual slider just able to slide)
•lockscreen app targets
•edit quick toggles in any way shape or form
•edit nav bar height
•change recents button into a menu button and remove three dot menus
•advanced power menu options
any info is appreciated!

I wouldn't say it's useless. The developer has stated if he can find a way to bring it to Lollipop, that he will. Rather it's just unusable for now.

Lollipop just came out.
Its going to take time to get get custom roms and features rolling
Users need to stop with the [Request] threads. You want something bad enough, learn to dev and make it happen. MOD EDITED - BE RESPECTFUL!!!
Most of the things you mentioned have to be a system modification not an app. Check out the lollipop custom ROMs, some of them have a few of the features you desire. It might be a few months to get Xposed working if possible even. You could always revert to 4.4.4 too.

Perhaps you can share the apps you found so far? Im following your thread bro.
Xposed is just so good, it became a must in my phone. I want so many features from it and its modules too
I search for xposed at least 3 times per day and i didnt find any useful information but a reply of rov89 a month ago saying it was going to be hard to merge xposed to lollipop because of new ART runtime. So i find this post very useful as we can share temporary patches until xposed is released for lollipop.
* Intelli3G: Your internet is set to EDGE while phone is locked, but when you unlock it you get 3G/4G (until you lock)
* Lots of gravitybox features:
-change battery icon and clock position in the info bar ( percentage + circle battery!)
-flash activated when you pulse the lockscreen for 3secs (stupid ye but very useful for me)
* Burnt toast: that was so cool (show app icon in toast--> superSU permissions)
*App settings: so i can put safari in immersive mode
Cant remember more at the moment but if you know any app with similar features post them here please
For battery percent:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
On Lollipop the percentage is visible even with full battery.
You know if Xposed doesn't come back I am kinda okay with it. Towards the end of Kitkat it seemed like any really useful app that came out needed Xposed to run. It was like as if app creators ran straight towards Xposed instead of using different methods. I know for some things you needed to be able to hack further than root allows but I would guess that a few Xposed modules could have achieved the same result through different means. I'm probably wrong though.
As well intentioned as this thread was, it still got almost completely derailed... Shame.
One feature I'm looking forward to is customizing the slides on Lock screen.
Dialer and camera shortcuts are great but I am so spoiled now.

Cool idea with this thread, seems very promising.
I'll start straight away with a question: can there be a way to limit a type2\type1 variant on top of only certain type3s and not be allowed to be selected\applied on top of any type3 regardless? I'll rephrase it if it came out a bit complex: basically I would like to have a type2\type1 variant that can be selected and applied only on top of one or two type3s and not all of them. Is this possible? Cheers.

The problem is that I'm trying to make a customisable statusbar clock so I want to separate the clock style from status_bar.xml so that the position and style can be separate option.
My question is how can I make something like this android:format24Hour="@string/status_bar_clock_24hr_format" referencing to a string with substratum?
I tried using any string from systemui.apk but that just messes things up.

Yesterday, AmirZ posted a Rootless Pixel Launcher on Reddit that manages to bring the full Pixel Launcher experience with Google Now tab to all phones without root required.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/6gn8f9/rootless_pixel_launcher_port/
Like all other ports of the Pixel Launcher, it did not work on Knox (Secure Folder) enabled phones: App crashed, app drawer was blank. However, the source code was available as Android Studio project and I could debug the code ... and managed to add two lines that made it work on my S8.
You got no idea how happy I am right now.
I'm sure AmirZ will add the two lines to the project together with other bug fixes within the next few days. If you don't wanna wait, try my version, available at
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1wrGoe5e9-EWlF5SVUzMDFoOHM
Update: AmirZ added this fix in version 1.3. Head over to Reddit to download the apk / sources.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/6gn8f9/rootless_pixel_launcher_port/
Make sure you uninstall this and any other Pixel launchers before installing the Launcher3.
Awesome ! was looking for this for so long ! Thank you !
If you can do it, I have two requests.
1. Could you change the accents to pixel blue ? (The slider on the right when you open app drawer)
2. Can the background on the app launcher be changed to dark / black ? I think that just works and looks better on the S8
The color was already changed in the version 1.2 on Reddit (but does not include the Knox compatibility yet). I'd hope that 1.3 does include my bug fix.
Someone really need to keep this updated, implement Android O sources, etc. This will not be me though since I have no clue what powerful magic AmirZ used to get the pixel launcher / google now working in non root. I'm terribly unqualified to do any real development on that ^^

The latest git versions by AmirZ do work with Knox. You need to make sure to remove all previously installed Pixel launchers (select another launcher as standard before uninstalling all of them) and then install
https://github.com/amirzaidi/Launcher3/releases/tag/Pixel-v1.4
If it force closes in launch, just delete all cache and app data for Launcher3 from the settings. It should work. My Knox fix was implemented in version 1.3.

thanks for that, it runs very smooth and no issues. the only thing I'd like is to be able to make the icons a bit smaller. Is that possible at all?
Dude this is awesome thank you!
There is a bug (or feature) that prevents proper AMOLED power savings on the top of the launcher. You will notice that while applying any background which is black up top (which AMOLED should turn off) there is still active pixels (in a dark room you can see this as a thin bar on top of the screen - kind of like light bleed). I have notified AmirZ of the issue and hopefully he can fix it.

That's the ying and Yang of Google. BY default they offer little in customisation but then they also make it easy to root your phone and add custom mods. Samsung are the opposite, they offer loads of customisation but it's a pia to root

Just an FYI, but it seems that if you use the systemless hosts module, then you cannot use that Fullscreen module by DanGLES3. This is because it prevents your apps that require root access from seeing that they have root access. Basically, it messes up your superuser permissions and screws with the Magisk pathways. I was trying to check what it did, however, I cannot explore any root directories due to my file explorer's superuser permissions now being ignored lol.
So, while this option works great and doesn't require LSposed, it prevents you from doing anything else with your root access =(.
The only way to resolve the problems is by wiping your phone, re-imaging and starting over =P.

Which is all very good i am sure but what purpose does the gesture line actually serve, why is it even there to start with is the question and not well it is easy to root your phone crack on and sort it yourself. Googles logic of it being there is baffling.
Lets be honest Google are now pushing the Pixel as a mainstream phone and it is probably bought mainly on the strength of its photographic capabilities, It isn't just the plaything of the inquisitive like the Nexus was. I bet the amount of Pixels that get rooted compared to sold is miniscule.
