I figured the knowledgeable people here could point me to apps (that require root or not) that do things that xposed used to do but now can't:
•Slide on notification bar for brightness (not an actual slider just able to slide)
•lockscreen app targets
•edit quick toggles in any way shape or form
•edit nav bar height
•change recents button into a menu button and remove three dot menus
•advanced power menu options
any info is appreciated!

I wouldn't say it's useless. The developer has stated if he can find a way to bring it to Lollipop, that he will. Rather it's just unusable for now.

Lollipop just came out.
Its going to take time to get get custom roms and features rolling
Users need to stop with the [Request] threads. You want something bad enough, learn to dev and make it happen. MOD EDITED - BE RESPECTFUL!!!
Most of the things you mentioned have to be a system modification not an app. Check out the lollipop custom ROMs, some of them have a few of the features you desire. It might be a few months to get Xposed working if possible even. You could always revert to 4.4.4 too.

Perhaps you can share the apps you found so far? Im following your thread bro.
Xposed is just so good, it became a must in my phone. I want so many features from it and its modules too
I search for xposed at least 3 times per day and i didnt find any useful information but a reply of rov89 a month ago saying it was going to be hard to merge xposed to lollipop because of new ART runtime. So i find this post very useful as we can share temporary patches until xposed is released for lollipop.
* Intelli3G: Your internet is set to EDGE while phone is locked, but when you unlock it you get 3G/4G (until you lock)
* Lots of gravitybox features:
-change battery icon and clock position in the info bar ( percentage + circle battery!)
-flash activated when you pulse the lockscreen for 3secs (stupid ye but very useful for me)
* Burnt toast: that was so cool (show app icon in toast--> superSU permissions)
*App settings: so i can put safari in immersive mode
Cant remember more at the moment but if you know any app with similar features post them here please
For battery percent:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
On Lollipop the percentage is visible even with full battery.
You know if Xposed doesn't come back I am kinda okay with it. Towards the end of Kitkat it seemed like any really useful app that came out needed Xposed to run. It was like as if app creators ran straight towards Xposed instead of using different methods. I know for some things you needed to be able to hack further than root allows but I would guess that a few Xposed modules could have achieved the same result through different means. I'm probably wrong though.
As well intentioned as this thread was, it still got almost completely derailed... Shame.
One feature I'm looking forward to is customizing the slides on Lock screen.
Dialer and camera shortcuts are great but I am so spoiled now.

ENOUGH!!!!!
I suggest everyone contributing to that pointless childish argument selfishly wasting EVERYONE'S time
Read the forum rules regarding member conduct - I have no problem actioning those who do post disrespectfully!
This is NOT a damn social site..stick to G+ for your immature flaming
This is a development site and as such keep this thread on topic
People are looking for alternate solutions while Xposed is being worked on to be ART compatible
So either contribute or don't post!

Is there any way to theme icons without a launcher? As far as I know, no launchers support Google Now (which I really like having as a screen), which is, unfortunately, my biggest deterrent. While devs adjust to the finer points of ART, I really, really miss my icons. ;_;

This app is developed by the same Dev who makes the popular Android Apps Button Savior, Smart Taskbar, and Everywhere Clipboard.
Smart Statusbar is the first and only statusbar enabler for full screen apps on android devices. No more lose track of time or important info on statusbar when you are reading, playing, or watching movie.
To enable statusbar, just do a simple top down swipe from top of screen. By default, statusbar will shows 5 seconds. You can also adjust the timeout to your preference in settings.
Please note. This app doesn't work on Honeycomb and ICS based Tablets. They are very different from phone version of Android. So no statusbar hidden problem on those tablets. So do not download if you want to use it on ICS or HC tablets.
NO ROOT REQUIRED!

By the way, is it possible to disable statusbar by gesture instead of timeout?
This feature is already in my mind. I will for sure add it.

Hello,
Is that possible to add a mod in order to make all the applications in full screen ?
Great app, I've got a handfull of requests/observations but please don't think I'm complaning at all, the app does exactly what it's supposed to, I've just got a lot of idea's. I second Prockkaii's post about making all apps full screen, I would love to see that added to this. I know in CM7 there's you can make holding menu hide the statusbar but you have to do that for every app and I don't believe it sticks after a reboot. Also a bottom statusbar option would be nice and just so you know when I tried using the bottom statusbar in cyanogen I couldn't bring the statusbar up with the top gesture either. It would also be nice to be pulling the shade down from the gesture instead of swiping once to bring up the statusbar and then a second time to slide down the shade. It would also be nice if the bar would pop up automaticaly on a notification.
In reply the request from IvanNCase and Prockkaii. I indeed had plan to add this feature but i am still trying. It is not easy. So maybe will never make it at all. But I will try my best to introduce this feature.

Thanks for the feedback.
In fact, my fear is that I'd used my Galaxy s2 for about 6 months, and during this period I'd never activate the rotation and all my applications are showing the status bar.
And now on a white screen, I see that there is a mark of the status bar. On right side, I can even see the mark of the battery.
So that's why I would like to have this feature and not remove the status bar.
But again thanks for you apps.

I think you have a screen issue like me.
I'm currently using the pixel fixer in order to fix that. I'm running it for about 2 or 3h per day, let's see what happens in 2 weeks.
Awesome!
Working like a charm so far! HTC Inspire 4G, LordClockan ICS 4.0.3. Keep up the good work! Exactly what I was looking for.
tried this out on my Galaxy Nexus and it worked perfectly as described. However, there is some lag that it particularly noticeable when scrolling through home screens and the app drawer. Once this lag is fixed/eliminated then this app will be perfect!

Hi there!
Check out my new app
Google Play ID

Wheel Launcher is a side panel that sits on top of everything on your device. Wheel Launcher does not interfere with your main launcher, but provides a fast way to reach your favorite apps and shortcuts - just press the semitransparent icon. You can hide the icon by dragging it off the screen. Wheel Launcher allows you to add any shortcut that is provided by your apps, like direct dial any of your contacts or settings shortcut, like battery, sound, Wi-Fi and so on.
Wheel Launcher is in early stages of it's development, so if you have anything to ask, suggest or if you found a bug - do not hesitate to drop me an email.
Features
• Fancy circle design
• Basic shortcuts to some common apps - dial, gallery, email, messaging, camera, drawer
• Support for any app on your device
• Support for any shortcut on your device
• Theme support, not much at this point, but there will be more
• Left/Right sided
I will appreciate, if someone with 4.3 - 4.4 can send me a crash report. :fingers-crossed: Those emulators can't be trusted.
Doesn't crash on 4.4.2

Ok since you mentioned 17 MB I gave it another try. And yes without any theme on it's 16/17 MB on xhdpi. Last night I used it with the black theme on so it spiked to 30 MB.
And I already have a Sidebar which takes around 15MB and it serves me well.. So don't get me wrong your app is beautiful and very cool, but I hate the memory constrains I have to deal with
But I'm glad I helped you fix a bug with the log.
Hope people love your app like I did. Regards
It's not crashing on 4.4.2 for me. Great job!
Made some bug fixes and new theme available:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fossor.wheellauncher.androidwhitetheme
Full version with folder support and unlimited number of items is available
Two major updates
1. Added a new white theme.
2. You can now change the position of an item on the main wheel and inside folders
Suggestions
First, just wanted to say that I really like the look of this. Running this on AICP 4.4.2 on a HTC One. Couple of quick suggestions/questions: First, is there a way to turn this on/off and/or a setting to enable on boot? Is there a way to change the position/size of the trigger area?
On a side note, I've used an app called circle launcher (pretty much since it was first released) as a widget on my homescreen to launch my most used apps (about 15 or so). I've really like this because with the launcher icon being transparent, it provides an easy way to launch apps without messing with my layout (no matter what layout i'm using). Have you considered creating this as a widget and/or being able to launch this as a short cut? I could see maybe using this as a custom nav bar button or something similar.

Hi there, thanx and I glad you like it. You can hide the icon by dragging it off screen or by pressing "hide" button on the notification (the app will return when you unlock the device or press "show"). Currently there is no autostart after boot, but it is on the to do list. There is no size changes on the trigger area, but you can change the position by dragging it up or down (it is always floating) and/or by changing side (left or right)
As for a fully transparent trigger area - I saw a lot of feedback (on other similar apps) when users wanted to have a visual representation of this area, so I made it with a flag icon. If there will be more requests to make trigger area fully transparent, perhaps i will add this option too.
And here is some video:
youtube.com/watch?v=uIWDlf1Dai8
New update on both versions:
You can now change icons on a main wheel. Supports most of the icon packs.
Another update:
Trigger now can be set as a rectangular shape in addition to the icon. It can be of any size, color and opacity, up to fully transparent.

Hello!
First I'd like to say that I am new to the forums, even though I spent a good amount of time lurking around and reading all of the awesome articles of root customization!
Anyways, I tried to research this on my own before I made a thread to avoid clutter and repeats but I can't seem to find a good answer, so I thought I'd ask!
(If I posted this in the wrong forum, sorry!)
So what I have is an AT&T Note 3 rooted with towelroot (I'm still new at this so I can't say if this is "complete root"...?) running on NOVA Launcher.
I've been trying to customize my lock screen while secure but I can't seem to find a simple app for that.... Now mind you, I've tried WidgetLocker Lockscreen by TeslaCoil Software and I just didn't like any of the options it had... I liked the fact that I could add my "iHeartRadio" and Shazam widget without having to unlock my phone but I didn't like how it also made my phone feel "cluttered" if that makes any sense to anyone. Bottom line is, I didn't like it. (even though I paid the $5 for it... ._." )
So anywhoooo, I was wondering if you guys/gals had any recommendations for me? i've tried googling and came up short... and I've also searched the forums coming up with nothing.... Please let me know!
Sorry again if I may come off as unclear.
Bump

Hi guys here you have a proper review of the Nougat firmware for the S7 edge based on my personal experiences.
So I installed it yesterday night via odin thx to @laimonas777.
With my own experiences I can say it is not as nice as I had thought.. It's hard to use, it's full with small bugs and delays and sometimes it can even freeze up to 30 seconds (My experiences).
Every app has got the new GraceUI of the Galaxy Note 7 including the settings app.
One of the best Nougat features, the display scaling option has got "only" 2 different options which do not differ that much from the standard option.
Let's talk about the Notification panel. You now have 6 toggles visible at the top but you cant swipe anymore. When you pull the statusbar twice you will see 9 toggles per page. Its much harder to find one toggle you are searching for because of the 3 toggle pages. On Marshmallow all toggles were visible in one "page".
Also the colors could have been better but I think everyone has its own opinion there.
Something which is also weird is that you have a search bar on the notification panel but actually you cant type anything in there. Instead, this textfield will just open the finder app.
The camera has got newer options and a totally different but perfect UI which I really like. But the new color modes are actually not that important features and were also aviable partially in 6.0.
Lets move on to the recent apps panel, which is a big pain.. The recent items got taller just like in stock nougat but the scrolling is a very big pain. Its just as the android nougat developer preview 1 for nexus devices also there are some minor graphical glitches which I have shown in the video.
Another thing I want to mention are the notifications. And yes, they are ugly but i am sure samsung will fix that. On every notification where you can tap for an action (example whatsapp, to reply) is a grey bar, which looks horrible. You can see it in the attached ss
Performancewise it hasnt got big changes but dont forget the delays when opening some specific apps etc. The battery consumption is also a bit higher but all these will get fixed with the final build (hopefully).
But now lets talk about the positive things :silly:. The Multiwindow option has got much better than it was on all other touchwiz versions, in short, its almost the same as in stock android nougat. Another thing which is perfect is the Window apps mode where you can open apps in window mode. We all know how bad this option was in Touchwiz, maybe no one of you ever have used it but now the window mode is very good and snappy. The negative thing there is that you cant deactivate these both modes anymore. So always when you try to pull down the notification panel from the right or left top corner, it will just open the current app always in window mode which is quite annoying.
And something which is annoying like hell is that if you play a game like doodle jump where you dont need to touch the screen the screen always turns off after a while. So the auto screenoff option doesnt get disabled while playing games or (maybe) even while watching a movie.
Galaxy Labs is now removed, so now you cant get all apps on your homescreen and you cant hide the appdrawer.
Remember that this is a very early beta build, and all of these bugs are normal and wont be there in the finale build.
Here is a quick video about the update to see how it looks
What about a dark theme...it was rumoured that Android N will have a dark theme not only that light one. Also the existing themes in store (for Samsung) work properly on N or not?

Keep in mind this is the frist beta released from samsung, so some things might hopefully change by the release of the final firmware. Also, you do have scaling other than going through the developer options. Go to Display -> Font and you will get to cgoose both the Screen zoom (which is set to almost huge idk why) and of course the font size. This comes to be as tha Normal and Condensed options back from marshmallow.
Hey glad to help. nice rview my friend. . :good:

Hello, thank you for great review. Could you confirm one exciting feature of android 7 (atleast for me) that it works on this phone beta software.
As of Android 7.0 phone can read 2G/3G/LTE frequency without ROOT. Easiest way is to install app Cellmapper(mapping cell towers to map) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cellmapper.net.cellmapper&hl=en
Could you run this app and post screenshot while connected to LTE only(no wifi)? Also, maybe send debug report from settings menu to developer with screenshot.

Thank you. Does not seem to report more info than in android 6.0.1. If you see LTE band reported on Cellmapper screen you can make another screenshot, but it seems that this functionality might not be there.
It's not a review, it's a rant. I literally have no issues with it, no freezes what so ever, it's actually snappier than MM.
I think the 'review' tag should be removed from this thread or it should be locked, as it is full of false information and the corrections to that false information have been given, but the 'review' hasn't been updated. If people read this thread thinking it is accurate, they will get false information.
The comment about display options, for instance, is just the OP not knowing what to do. It's not something wrong or an option that has been removed, it's just a lack of knowledge.

Yeah, I don't get that with any app. The only thing a bit laggy is the "new window" tab animation in the browser and the notification bar. Apart from those two things, it is fine.

I'm lazy and yes I did look around. Anyone have a recommendation on removing the pill at the bottom of the screen. I just don't like it there. On stock rooted may.
I have Fullscreen/Immersive Gesture Tweaks Magisk module installed and one of its options does exactly this.
AOSP mods

Well it is hardly a pill, the thin horizontal line at the bottom of the home screens. Indicator when scrolling through home screens.
There is also a Substratum theme (FSIM) version of the Fullscreen/Immersive Gesture Tweaks Magisk module mentioned above (same developer) which I use to get rid of it.
+1 on @siavash79's thread [MOD][Xposed+Magisk][Pre-Release] AOSP Mods - System modifications for AOSP-based Android 12+.

Not certain this works on android 13 but I used to use this to hide the navbar and enable gestures before it became the norm

Thanks everyone. I will try the aforementioned and the ones linked above
Aosp mods with lsposed zygisk worked perfectly. I remember using this mod a while ago. Glad to see it's still being updated. Thanks y'all

AOSP Mods can get rid of it
Google want to have a word with themselves, you shouldn't need a mod, you should just be able to turn it off.

That's the ying and Yang of Google. BY default they offer little in customisation but then they also make it easy to root your phone and add custom mods. Samsung are the opposite, they offer loads of customisation but it's a pia to root

Just an FYI, but it seems that if you use the systemless hosts module, then you cannot use that Fullscreen module by DanGLES3. This is because it prevents your apps that require root access from seeing that they have root access. Basically, it messes up your superuser permissions and screws with the Magisk pathways. I was trying to check what it did, however, I cannot explore any root directories due to my file explorer's superuser permissions now being ignored lol.
So, while this option works great and doesn't require LSposed, it prevents you from doing anything else with your root access =(.
The only way to resolve the problems is by wiping your phone, re-imaging and starting over =P.

Which is all very good i am sure but what purpose does the gesture line actually serve, why is it even there to start with is the question and not well it is easy to root your phone crack on and sort it yourself. Googles logic of it being there is baffling.
Lets be honest Google are now pushing the Pixel as a mainstream phone and it is probably bought mainly on the strength of its photographic capabilities, It isn't just the plaything of the inquisitive like the Nexus was. I bet the amount of Pixels that get rooted compared to sold is miniscule.

I would say that's true and has always been true of every phone. Otherwise, there would be millions and millions of XDA members. The Modding community is a microcosm of overall phone owners
But, why not have the pill? What is the argument against it?
Takes up space with something that useless for some.
