Pretty much what the title says... Since theming questions tend to get a bit more technical than using Substratum itself, it seems more appropriate for questions to be asked here than in the main thread. Our themers are always looking to help out and provide answers, we encourage you to do the same! If you've found a bug or a cool trick, share it here.

Well sir, here it goes. Which TBO themes ready Gapps do you recommend for @BeansTown106's PN 3/17 build (N6). I figured I would ask here as you have the best of the "White Must Die" crew here. Also, damn glad to see the success you have achieved. Keep up the good work.

Looking for some of the suggestion icons. I know that there are more but for now I'm looking for the mic and body.

Cool idea with this thread, seems very promising.
I'll start straight away with a question: can there be a way to limit a type2\type1 variant on top of only certain type3s and not be allowed to be selected\applied on top of any type3 regardless? I'll rephrase it if it came out a bit complex: basically I would like to have a type2\type1 variant that can be selected and applied only on top of one or two type3s and not all of them. Is this possible? Cheers.

Hi. Can i reference other apks with substratum. For example could I use a colour from Spotify's colors.xml in systemui?

No, you can only use the resources in the apk you're theming or those in framework-res

The problem is that I'm trying to make a customisable statusbar clock so I want to separate the clock style from status_bar.xml so that the position and style can be separate option.
My question is how can I make something like this android:format24Hour="@string/status_bar_clock_24hr_format" referencing to a string with substratum?
I tried using any string from systemui.apk but that just messes things up.

Does it work if you reference the string with
android:format24Hour="@*com.android.systemui/string:status_bar_clock_24hr_format"
Maybe some of the 'pro' themers can suggest alternatives ?

Don't see how it can be slower. The files I've replaced are the same file sizes as the stock. So it shouldn't be using more resources. I've not notice a performance hit on my device. Anyone else with performance issues?

First, thanks for trying out my theme. Here's the problem with your request. The little icons i made for the home tab (phone, calendar, and alarm) were actually all in one particular manila file. This manila file unfortunately also contains pieces of the digital clock. So, it's all or nothing.
Since I thought the transparent clock is more popular, I decided to go with that. If more people raise this issue, then I'll make a version with the stock clock.

+1 for stock clock.
Love the theme, but the stock clock style is more visible in bright sunlight.

Hey guys. It seems like in the thread merging of the various theme threads, the white taskbar that I used to be able to find for 2.1 has gone missing. If anyone has it, could they post it up here? It's the white one that looks exactly like vanilla... I don't mind if it has 3G text or EvDo text either.
EDIT
I should mention that this is regarding Damage Control or Fresh... not Legend roms.

Hi all people ...i was just looking around in forums for a nexus one theme but there was not even a single good one out there but ten the Darkedge UI for motodroid got my attention and just wanted to have it on my nexus one so i just downloaded the MotoDroid version of morph and installed on my nexus using metamorph application and guess what it worked as a charm. It does not even lags and yes I have not modded any thing in the zip file.
THIS IS NOT MY THEME AND I HAVE NOT EVEN TOUCHED THIS FILES JUST TRIED ON MY NEXUS AND IT WORKED
THIS THEME BELONGS TO XEUDOXUS
requirments:
CyanogenMod-5: Kang Central Station (STABLE) [5.0.6]
just install using metamorph as a regular theme file.
I have also uploaded the icon pack of Darkedge. Apply it with Metamorph as a regular theme and it will update all the apps that you have and if you don't have that app then it will skip that task
--"use the nexus live wallpaper but change colour scheme to ZION and background to dark. NOW IT LOOKS PERFECT"
--use the icon pack morph to update the icons
--and the app morph in the original thread is the morph for updating the theme of some applications.......be carefull as some applications such as facebook.....are updated with black background with black text on them.....making it hard to read.

If you have any problem with any of the application then simply apply the theme one file at a time and skip the one that results in FC

USEFUL COMMENTS/INSTRUCTIONS
OK......this slider in metamorphs settings is.....that it will delay the restart process after the theme is applied.....so if u set the slider too up then it will take very long to start the process resulting in geting stuck.....or if you set it too low....then it will restart too often making it extremely hard to copy all files in system.....and resulting in reboot sequence and eventually you will have to flash the rom again....so keep trying with change in the delay slider.....with gradual changes as if you were overclocking.... ..

I wouldn't mind if you use all of the buttons & status bar background, or just certain icons in the status bar, or just the dialer, etc. using pieces from other themes is how we all get started.

thought id try help.. been a while since ive used 2.1 though! lol (this was like the early 2.1 update we first got before all the roms came out)
1) i reckon the menu button background thing is most likely lurking in framework-res.apk in res/drawable-hdpi folder.
2) the background from the launcher is probably in launcher.apk somewhere although i used to use adw launcher so never really looked into that.
3) as for mediascape background it should be in mediascape.apk although im sure theres some background in there maybe from playlist section or something else where theres a separate background file. cant remember in which apk ul find it but i think it was along the lines of the timescape or framework-res apk's!
some help i am lol sorry.. but if ya wanna look at the old work i had and maybe figure something out then feel free to do so. link should be in signature below if needed!
hope it helps!! good luck
There are many themes out there but this one is mine.
It's all about material... Blue !
I can't assure everthing works properly on anything else than a Mate 8 running emui 4.1, but it surely should.
You have to put the file as it comes into the HWthemes folder, at the root of your internal sd card. Create the folder if needed.
Some littles details requires a reboot, have I found.
Big credits to the author of Material 1st version theme, from wich I used many assets.
Cheers.

I might tweak the parts I left mostly untouched (settings) to make it more consistant and original, stay tuned as they say
Great theme. Couple of things I observed: the navigation buttons background sometimes turns white so the buttons can't be seen. Also the icon for vibration and silent mode seems to be the same. Please keep up the great work

Thanks !
Icons for those differents modes seems ok to me:
Maybe they're a bit too similar to each other.
About your nav button disappearing I have no precise idea what's happening. Maybe some app colors your nav bar in light grey, thus making them invisible ?
Finished theming the dial/contact app, tweaked a few other things here and there, OP updated.

Thanks! It looks great, the mute/vibrate icons seem ok now. Maybe it's something on my side since I use KangVIP and the navigation buttons are a little modified, but this is what happens with the white background:
Oh yap, I'm on Kang and have that too. Never bothered me so I didn't looked into it, but it might very well be caused by the theme.
I'll check how to fix that.
White nav bar is fixed, among other things.
Sadly a few little things will stays un-themed or not themed as I would like them to be (not much), cause it's a freaking hell off intricated files and hex color madness down there, and I don't have the time to learn chineese and lurk emui forums.
Also I'm starting to see everything in my phone as a potentialy photoshopable .PNG, wich is rather unpleasant
So I guess it's probably "final version" (op updated).
Thanks for you remarks.

This is the place where default themes are stored, worth a try, but in theory custom themes are to be placed in HWthemes folder directly in internal SD card (unroot path) with correspond/equal to system/sdcard/HWthemes (rooted path).
Thanks
