What do you guys think of an app that let´s you set what you wanna sync, while on charger !
Cause, sync drains battery ... f.ex. when you sync Picasa with hundreds of photos, or hundreds Facebook/Google/...contacts....
So these things could be synced automatically and you don´t have to care.
And when you´r out, you only sync your Email/Twitter and you´re fine, all the other is synced when you charge again.
I got this from WaveSecure, which makes an autobackup while on charger, which is great.
Unfortunately I am not capable of doing this app, but probably some good dev out there
so a sort of sync profile management app. Good idea for those who sync a lot of accounts.

Locale can do this now
If you want this, then use Locale (market) and one of the Dock plugins for it (a number in the market already). No need for Yet Another App.

But I am not sure...that´s an app for $10...and I cannot find anything about a autosync feature (plugin)...unfortunately the test beta has expired.
If I can find the api calls to manage accounts I'll try it.

the app can use http://developer.android.com/reference/android/accounts/AccountManager.html to get the list of accounts and even remove accounts...dont see a way of turning off sync ..yet

At the bottom, nothing about a charging profile but its a start
PS: I’m also developing another app which will allow you to directly control the sync on/off for any account (with fine control also available for each item within each account like mail/calendar/contacts separately) through a power control like widget. It is working for me right now but I’m fixing it around the edges so that I can publish a relatively force-close-free app for you

After the success of the beta programme (over 100 people wanting to signup!) I decided it was time to re-write the platform to allow me to add more features and improve the overall "feel" of it. I also have plans to commercialise the platform, allowing it to be used by businesses/individuals who wish to monitor devices remotely.
The client application for Android is available freely from here and can be included in a custom ROM if you wish to make it persistant across factory resets. I do ask that if your are a ROM developer that you let me know before you do this, and also credit me in your release notes.

Looks pretty sweet. Nice and simple. Works well, though I couldn't get the sound to work. It just popped up in the taskbar and said "Ring! Ring".

Ok. It should play the default alarm tone you have set. Could you pastebin a logcat, from before you click "play sound" until the notification appears.

Well that's why! I figured it would play it's own notification. I have the alarm volume set to 0 because I don't ever use it.lol
It would be nice if you had a configuration for that in the app or the portal.

I haven't included an "alert" sound yet, as I thought people would recognise their own alerts easier. I like the idea of adding a customise option to the app though Thanks!

Hmm that's weird. It didn't change the volume, but when I manually did it, the sound worked. Other than that, the app looks and works great!
One more suggestion though, idk if it's possible, could you have it force turn on gps? I normally leave it off so if I actually do lose my phone, it would just give me the giant radius of the cell tower location...
Also, I notice you're using dyndns. Is the computer/server you're running it on going to be up 24/7?

Sorry, starting from Android 1.5 cupcake, you cannot programmatically toggle GPS. It should be fine to leave it enabled though.

I have read through the SDK documentation and the best you can do is prompt the user to enable it. So kind of misses the point
I have also altered the JavaScript code so that clicking on the location refresh button zaps you to the marker instantly, but you still have to wait until the phone updates the server to see the latest result

Yes, more features will be coming soon, including a "Lock" ability. This is quite a complicated one though, might require the user to select a "secure" lock screen prior to first use.
I also thought of some wicked uses for the Nexus S, but that will have to wait until I get time ( here's a clue: Peekaboo! )

it sends notifications to your PC, when you got event on your mobile,
best case when you are charging your mobile in a room, and setting in another..
however you can use it in different purposes ...
the phone and the PC should be on the same LAN,
in future i may upgrade it to work over the internet ...
it notifies for those events:
1- Incoming Call (shows the caller number to)
2- Outgoing Call (someone using your mobile to call a number)
3- Your mobile is fully charged (in case you were charging it)
4- Someone unplugged the power of the charger.
5- New Incoming SMS.

Sounds great, but I think setting this up might be a tad harsh for general use (firewalls etc). I would suggest building an intermediary platform (web service) to communicate to. That way you can have a very easy setup. For instance, you can use the Google login service to identify yourself from the phone and the notification program and that's it then. No IP's or port numbers as most users don't know what that is anyway.
But for the techies, good start.

What a great find... The integration with Growl will be excellent on my HTPC. Also, this allows easy integration with EventGhost through Scripty.

Have you ever heard of...dare I say it...variation of ideas? Just because there is something similar out there, does not mean it is identical. Please do not spam dev's threads with others work.

otherwise you will see a single app for each purpose ... on pc\mobile ...

but regarding the call forwarding to PC as far as i know you can't do it as the call is protected by the OS. it has limitations...

Using bluetooth maybe ? PC as a handset (would have to be paired before)
I understand then distance range would come as a limit for many use cases, but could still be enjoyable instead of standing up to pick up the phone !

I just started developing for Android and the Sony Smartwatch because i missed so many functionality on my Smartwatch and the apps where missing in the market.
Some of them are done after people asked they want a app like that. For example the GPS Maps apps and the whatsapp notifier.

Regarding the mail app, the "action toast button" doesn't do anything.
Also if i put my phone in airplane mode at night i get a flood of "failed to connect to server" messages. Would be sweet just to have one error which clears after the connection returns if possible.
Whatsapp notifier, don't use the open on phone option for now as it will stop alerting on new messages.
Seems as though something else stops it notifying time to time but don't know what triggers it. Disabling and enabling app fixes it.
If received two messages and both have been unread, will show an alert saying "2 new messages"rather than the actual messages. Customnotifier does the same thing so there may not be a workaround.
I'm here to continue testing at your will. Your apps will be great to end up on the market.

The light version works with the smartwatch as well. I use it all the time. Really slick.

The gps maps app does not work on my sgs2. It only shows a white screen. I only saw the map once for a short moment.
Hi. The loading sometimes takes a bit long.
But you can try the new version of it which will hopefully soon be available from the google market.
It is uploaded and published so look out for it. But i will hint to it as soon as i see it in the market. (I hope i am allowed to post links to my apps in the market)
It will have some new features you will hopefully like.

I think i already found a bug though. It seems as soon as the app is closed and reopened on the watch that there is stil a old picture flickering. Will look at this. I would be happy if you continue to test and report bugs and ideas.

yes. was the same cause of my problem with the flashing screen.
i hope i finaly fixed it. I already updated the app in the market and i hope it works now for you now without a white screen.

i think u can upload the whatsapp notifier to play store
but my request is u better minus "open in phone" function since it will break the app after ward

I find the app still breaks here and there and i don't use the open function.
I have ics 4.0.3 on gs2
There are too many apps that doing this - remote control the pc, but I didn't found any good that do it 'quietly', without any notification that shown on the PC, most of them show a notification or a service that shown on systemtray. Donno if its possible to remote control without dl and using a 3rd party software on the PC, but I want something that doing this control hidden...
Would like to hear about applications that fit to the description ...

There is a very good reason why these sort of apps give a notification on the screen - it is so that anyone using the PC at that time knows that what they are doing is being watched.
As for doing this without downloading anything to the remote PC - not possible. Even if it is malware hidden in a spam email it will need to download something.
To do it without notification would either make you a spy or a stalker
To that end I'm going to report this thread for the Mods to decide on.

Well, I guess its not sound that good, but YOU did talk about malware or spying...not me.
There is a APP that doing what I've described (I forgot its name) - you need user/password on the PC but its not pushing notification everytime like TeamViewer, I want something that control like teamviewer but used like (on systray)
However, mr.guy, there are so many remote application on google play, so instead of trying all the 1000 I just want a recommand for a good one.
You can forget about your your hallucinations about spyware and other nonsense, it really does not interest me.

If you just want something that you can use to log in without actually having a user sat at the remote PC then you should look at LogMeIn - it's what I use for managing my customer's EPoS kit as I can just assign a fixed password to the machine and log in whenever I want to. They still get a notification on the screen that I've connected, but that's all.
